Senate Passes Stimulus Bill, 61-37

By Frank Ahrens
The Senate passed the $838 billion stimulus plan with one vote to spare -- 61-37 -- moments ago, sending the bill to President Obama's desk for signing, after the two houses conference.

The Senate vote follows a partisan passage in the House, where it gained no Republican support.

Senate Republicans fought and won spending reductions to the House version of the plan, and gained additional tax cuts.

We'll ALL be poor things once this pathetic pork plan goes into effect.

Yeah, it's really too bad that Republicans' one last tool, the Senate filibuster, isn't working any more. Too bad you can't muster 41 out of 100 votes. That's a terrible pity, indeed. Tsk. You poor things.

No need to read the phone book. There are HUNDREDS of pages of pork spending -- from ACORN to back-door healthcare czars -- that the Republican Senators could have debated. Too bad that three (3) RINOs sided with the Dems.

Heehee.

Should have made the SOBs stand in the Senate day after day reading the phone book while America watched.

:-)

There is still time for that spectacle.

AS OBAMA CONCENTRATES ON THE ECONOMY, ARE BUREAUCRATIC IDEOLOGUES SUBVERTING HIS PRESIDENCY, AND DEMOCRACY?

TREASURY SECRETARY GEITHNER:

WHAT IS THE U.S. TREASURY DEPARTMENT ROLE in these programs -- and has the IRS been used to decimate family finances of wrongly "targeted" American citizens? Are you investigating?

What Sen. Leahy knows, Team Obama must IMMEDIATELY confront -- because the victims continue to suffer.

IT IS DAY 22 OF THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION.

DO YOU *REALLY* KNOW WHAT YOUR "MULTI-AGENCY ACTION CENTER" IS UP TO?

republican ideology is passing into history.

So nice to see that the Republicans are playing high-stakes poker with our livelihoods.

Posted by: JRM2 | February 10, 2009 2:49 PM

The GOP has just made itself irrelevant.

Now we'll see first if Pelosi can actually leave the Senate version untouched to get it through the House, then if the stimulus actually works. The public may be patient with Obama, but you can bet the GOP will slam him every day that goes by without a recovery, starting this minute.
