Obama Will Sign Stimulus Bill on Tuesday

Updated 5:50 p.m.
By Michael D. Shear
President Obama will sign the $787 billion economic stimulus plan in Denver on Tuesday, the White House said today, as he continues his efforts to communicate directly to the American public about the economic crisis.

Obama had already announced a trip to Colorado and Arizona on Tuesday and Wednesday. He plans to announce his latest plans for reducing the number of housing foreclosures on Wednesday in Phoenix.

Obama's decision to sign the stimulus bill in Denver is a striking departure from his first few weeks in office, when he held several signing ceremonies in the East Room of the White House.

In the last week, however, Obama has spent less and less time in his new home. Last week he traveled to Indiana, Florida and Illinois and headed home to Chicago for a four-day weekend. He also announced his first foreign trip as president, a day trip to Canada next Thursday.

I'm glad to see that Obama is more worried about APPEARING to do the right thing then actually doing it. Also does anyone else feel like they are watching another executive use their $$ to travel unnecessarily?? I mean is it really necessary for him to be constantly traveling and costing the government $$, why can't he just stay home and do his work from there?

20,000 people losing their jobs everyday. Obama waits 4 days to sign the stimulus bill. He will sign the bill at a solar powered Museum. Air Force One will burn 20,000 gallons of fuel for this event. Why is no one outraged at these contradictions?

It's amazing how nasty those pesky little libs can be when they smell blood, isn't it? They are like a group of sharks (female sharks) swimming in circles, seeking whom they can devour.

I wonder if when you are standing in the breadline that THE ONE created, will you be as snarly then, or will you finally have the starch taken out of you?

Hope you bought gold. Cause the currency is not going to be worth the fresh ink it was printed on.

The whole world is in a pickle. I suppose [yawn] you will blame the whole world's problems on Bush as well.

Unfortunately, there's not a man among you. Whiny bunch of pantywaists. Always blaming everything on Bush. None of you have the testosterone to stand up and admit that the Buck Stops here, do you? Certainly have heard nothing from the leader of the free world about moving forward and not looking back. But then again, he's been kind of busy what with Camp David, Chicago, signing in those bills that he never posted, and celebrating, his cabinet faux pas have been a real hinderance, getting ready for the Old Stevie Wonder fete and all, he hasn't really had time to work, just makes passing comments about inheriting woes and troubles, etc. etc. Where's Harry Truman when you need him? Men. Real men. They used to exist in a land far, far away. Who killed all the men? What a misterable bunch of examples of humanity we have running this country.

The problem with you liberals posts are that they sound so well, feminine. It really causes a snicker or two to read them. No men here. Just the infamous metrosexual male.

Gotta tell ya, I'm still disgusted.

Pretty funny, hearing conservatives here complain about pork. Guess now that they've had their fill and need to sit back a while and digest the grotesque amounts they've already swallowed, they have the time to notice pork again.

What they are really complaining about is not that the bill has pork, but that the bill only has pork for other people.

Oink, oink. Darned pork! Oink. Grunt snuffle oink.

What is wrong with conservatives is not their ideology some of what they say is true, such as increasing the debt will have bad consequences in the future. What is so bad about them is they lack any principles. When they were in charge, "deficits don't count was stated by the vice president several times. Only when the country is hurting after years of fiscal and monetary policy which ignored deficits do they suddenly become rigid. They in fact have no economic policy, only political policy.

We need a rational approach which Republicans are unwilling to use in the hopes of recapturing power rapidly if the country disintegrates. Senator Collins did a great service to this country, as did the two Senators who supported her.

There are at least a couple of Republican Senators who voted against this bill who have the sense to know that they were serving their personal needs over their patriotic duty. Some like Chambliss and Sessions, Cornyn, Vitter, DeMint and Inhoff do not know any better but others like Grassley, Lugar, Bennett and McCain know better. It disgusts me when those who know better vote to harm the economy. They could have expressed their reservations but voted for it. Instead they chose to follow Rush Limbaugh, the most vocal Republican spokesman. The policy is to make Obama fail, America is not as important as undoing Obama.

I am particularly plased at the overwhelming sense of helplessness the GOP office holders and their millions of conservative supporters across the country are feeling at not being able to stop progressive policies of all kinds now becoming reality. This is exactly how those of us on the left felt as we watched in total powerlessness at Bush and the GOP Congress polcies such as taking the country to war in Iraq, shoveling tax cuts to the super-rich, and protecting the big drug companies from having to sell their products to the Federal Government at reduced prices due to the volume of its purchasing. The wheel has turned and the GOP will now have to sit there and seethe as the policies abroad and at home are now shaped by liberals, the very people they despise. They have nobody to blame but themselves for this, as they had a take no prisoners-our way or the highway attitude for such a long time and posioning the well of collegiality.

Looks like somebody's been drinking too much Fox Spews Koolaid.

Commercial media are unavoidably slanted to the right of reality. They're afraid of their sponsors. Remember when Edward R. Murrow bravely stood up to Joe McCarthy in the face of sponsors and a public audience who bought into the Red Scare? A year later his show was replaced with a game show.

Mainstream commercial media have been going out of their way to make Obama look bad.

The fairness argument is baloney. Bush was a self writing parody of himself. He looked bad because he was bad. The tendency to pin republican intrasigence on Obama is ridiculous.

Did you get the idea that the media were liberal from the essentially the same media sources accusing each other of being liberal, pandering to their ignorant viewers and opportunistic sponsors?

Fox's idea of "fair and balanced" is to balance right wing propaganda with extreme right wing propaganda.

It you really want something to balance the coverage you read, try these for starters:

When is Obama going to W-O-R-K? He has signed a couple of bills, he told Nancy to draft the Stimulus. He spent last weekend at Camp David, he went flying off to Chicao for an extended weekend this weekend. He is SIGNING THE STIMULUS ON TUESDAY. He is throwing a party for Stevie Wonder on Wednesday. Interspersed all of this, he is still campaigning to friendly crowds only. I hear he caused quite the stir when he took his lovely to a restaurant. Are we in Rock Star Mode here? Come on, Mr. President. I am sick of your tactics already.

My question is, when does he really get down and dirty and start WORKING?

We need some roll up your sleeves work, here. The economy is in trouble, or isn't it? We need to tighten our belts, or don't we? We need to shore up our borders, or don't we? We need, we need, we need!!!

The Middle Class is getting screwed.

Politico.com and NYT’s Rich: BHO a big winner in stimulus fight.

Politico. com (a BHO fan—not) and NYT’s Frank Rich both conclude our 44th President came out a huge winner in his successful fight to pass a major stimulus bill to create jobs and boost the economy.

Excerpt from politico.com:
“With Barack Obama’s victory in passing a massive stimulus package marred by days of bad press — as not a single House Republican backed the bill, his health czar went down in flames and his second pick for commerce secretary walked away — the administration has been cut down to size, and lost some of its bipartisan sheen.

Such, at least, has been the beltway chatter, but so far the numbers don’t back it up.

Obama’s approval rating remains well above 60 percent in tracking polls. A range of state pollsters said they’d seen no diminution in the president’s sky-high approval ratings, and no improvement in congressional Republicans’ dismal numbers.”

Excerpt from Rich:
“Less than a month into Obama’s term, we don’t (and can’t) know how he’ll fare as president. The compromised stimulus package, while hardly garbage, may well be inadequate. Timothy Geithner’s uninspiring and opaque stab at a bank rescue is at best a place holder and at worst a rearrangement of the deck chairs on the TARP-Titanic, where he served as Hank Paulson’s first mate. But we do know this much. Just as in the presidential campaign, Obama has once again outwitted the punditocracy and the opposition. The same crowd that said he was a wimpy hope-monger who could never beat Hillary or get white votes was played for fools again.”

Here in Florida we have an 8%+ unemployment rate and are #2 in foreclosures behind California.

We have a budget deficit in the billions, are #50 in dollars spent per child for education, have millions of working schnooks without healthcare insurance - all the while we have no state income tax and are considered a low tax state. So much for trickle down economics.

Our fine GOP Representatives in Congress, mostly Bush water-carriers, voted unanimously against the stim package as did our retiring GOP Senator (yeah!) even though it means $5 billion plus for our state, which is in desparate need of the money. Our GOP governor urged the state's congressional delegation to support the bill but no....they voted their conscience.

We will take the money and use it for the needs of our people and our state - no thanks to the GOP.

lonewacko:

ABC This Week gets more than a million hits. They started by asking Linday Graham (R) South Carolina) your question this morning:

Turns out he thinks we should consider nationalizing the banks.

"This idea of nationalizing banks is not comfortable," said Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC). "But I think we've got so many toxic assets spread throughout the banking and financial community, throughout the world, that we're going to have to do something that no one ever envisioned a year ago, no one likes. To me, banking and housing are the root cause of this problem. I'm very much afraid any program to salvage the banks is going to require the government... I would not take off the idea of nationalizing the banks."

He also insists that his state of South Carolina will accept stimulus funds from the Federal government despite what some in the state are saying about declining them and despite the fact that he voted against them.

Are you getting the picture yet?

Posted by: JohnQuimby | February 15, 2009 7:42 PM

STOP THE INVASION!!!

In the last 22 years, since the 1986, Reagan, one-time amnesty, over 26 million illegals have been apprehended, after they crossed the border into our United States.

UNITED STATES BORDER APPREHENSIONS (Source DHS/CBP)
1987--1,190,488------1995--1,394,554------2003----931,557
1988--1,008,145------1996--1,649,986------2004--1,160,395
1989----954,243------1997--1,412,953------2005--1,189,075
1990--1,169,939------1998--1,555,776------2006--1,089,902
1991--1,197,875------1999--1,579,010------2007----876,704
1992--1,258,482------2000--1,676,438------2008----723,825
1993--1,327,259------2001--1,266,213------2009----
1994--1,094,717------2002----955,310

However, less than 1, out of 4, illegals, crossing into our United States, are estimated to have been apprehended.

According to the U.S. Immigration Service another 6 million illegals in our country are visa overstays.

Lack of E-verify, in the Stimulus Bill, only entices even more illegals to enter our country!!

E-Verify will rectify this problem, but first, it needs to be enacted.

There are now 11.6 million unemployed American citizens, and that number is growing.

It is known that approximately 8.7 miillion illegals now hold on-the-books jobs, within our United States, that they illegally obtained, using forged, and/or stolen identities. It is against our existing laws, for an illegal to be employed, by anyone, anywhere, within our United States.

Many of these are jobs that Americans will do. Jobs in construction, manufacturing, and food processing.

WE CANNOT ALLOW ILLEGALS TO TAKE, OR RETAIN, JOBS, THAT RIGHTFULLY BELONG TO UNEMPLOYED AMERICANS.

Posted by: buzzm1 | February 15, 2009 1:03 PM

Well, I know nothing about $10,000 to 50 million Americans, but here's what I do know:

138 million Americans filed a tax return in 2006. Approximately 50%, earning at a bottom of nearly $33,000 a year, paid some appreciable tax (the lower 50% make up only 3% of the collected taxes). If we assume that the lower 50% will pay no taxes after the credits in this bill, that leaves 69 million productive Americans to cover the cost of the $787 Billion dollar stimulus. Or, roughly $12,000 per taxpayer.

Now, if you figure in the overall costs to run this program (and you believe MSNBC, CNN, and CNBC), the total on that group rises to somewhere around $3.5 Trillion to service the stimulus plan. That's around $50,000. Add that to the current $11 Trillion in debt, which China will surely call on margin within the next 4 years, and that's closer to $200,000 per taxpayer earning roughly $33,000 a year.

On top of that, we are going to limit executive pay. That forces more of that burden downward. There is also the risk of all these very poorly run businesses (GM, Chrysler, GE, newspapers, etc.) closing their doors because, basically, they make very poor quality products that no one wants to buy, and that are propped up through the very graces of the American taxpayer. That also lessens the pool of tax income sources

Kinda sounds like one of those sub-prime mortgages: sounds really good in the beginning, because you really want the house, and the snake-oil Realtor and mortgage broker said it was a good deal. But then the ARM kicks in, and before you know it, your broke, your credit is ruined, and you have to work hard for 10+ years just to get back to normal.

Except this time, our President is the lying Realtor, and Congress is the corrupt mortgage company.

Now, here's the next issue for all the geniuses out there:

On average, a typical infrastructure project needs to be funded at approximately 10% of the initial investment per year to sustain, maintain, and manage it's lifecycle. That's a pre-programmed $78.7 Billion, plus inflation, for all of these projects. And that assumes on-time, on-schedule projects with no unforeseen disasters. Who's funding that, the states and localities? And, what will the employees do when these projects contracts dry up? Will we need another $1 Trillion in 3-5 years?

I know I'm not going to work as hard as I do to have it all taken away from me in Federal, state, and local taxes. I'll learn my lesson, just as those in the former Soviet Union did. You simply don;t motivate people by making them Government slaves, be it by fiat or by tax.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

EXCELLENT POST!

The sheer hypocrisy of the Republican Party can be seen in the following exchange that was heard over and over again in the days preceding the final Congressional vote:

"Senator (or Congressperson), will you vote in support of the stimulus package?"
"Hell, no!"
"Will you request or accept any funding tied to this package if it passes?"
"Hell, yes!"

Members of Congress should have the courage of their convictions. If they voted against the stimulus package, then they should refuse any funding being directed toward their state or district.

The stinking BO who is not an American citizen, but; a foreign national and constitutionally ineligible to serve as POTUS will be doing act of TREASON since he felonously created a fraudulent FRANKENSTEINED FORGERY of an OFFICIAL GOVERNMENT IDENTITY DOCUMENT when he created his fraudulent COLB (birth certificate) to falsely claim US citizenship; so when he signs any bills that adversely affect anyone as a usurper of the US Constitution he will be committing TREASON.

Barack cons Americans who are willing to be conned consequent to the acts of the Federal Reserve and Congress that have in perpetuity put this country into irredeemable debt.

No illegal unconstitutional foreign national like Barack - who has allegiances with people like Moammar Qaddafi - to co-sponsor with Barack - Barack's genocidal cousin in Kenya - where Odinga's genocidal murders of christians and attempts to overthorw christianity there - with efforts to make that country subject to Islamic sharian law - deserves to even have residence in America.

Get on with proing you are an American Barack - if you have the guts too - you frickin foreign national who is leading a foreign coup d` etat against the USA.

Barack is a stinking drug using, moonshine swilling type of charlatan reminiscent of the gypsies, tramps and thieves of another era who lived by the CON and died by the CON.

Barasck is too CHICKEN-SH*T to prove he's even an American citizen.

Respectfully throw the stinking BO out of the country - the sooner the better, whereas;
that kind of a con artist could have appropriately been put at the end of a *ope - in the public square - for the sake of the public good - by the community - in a more civilized earlier era of this country.

Below is an excerpt from NYT's Frank Rich's brilliant analysis of how the stimulus debate will play out. His take: the same as it did when FDR put across the New Deal new--with BHO a huge winner. Obstructionisim and hate are simply not governing principles.

"Republicans will also be judged by the voters. If they want to obstruct and filibuster while the economy is in free fall, the president should call their bluff and let them go at it. In the first four years after F.D.R. took over from Hoover, the already decimated ranks of Republicans in Congress fell from 36 to 16 in the Senate and from 117 to 88 in the House. The G.O.P. is so insistent that the New Deal was a mirage it may well have convinced itself that its own sorry record back then didn’t happen either."

The Obama miracle 95% of the people will get a tax deduction - estimated at $13 per week (for some not all.) The #&@%^*@%^ congress took a raise of $98,000 for their own expenses and gave you the finger. And still you worship at the feet of a clay idol. Truly, the American public can be bought for a song and dance.

Re: Is that your hand in my pocket? What gives you, or our Constitutional government the right to seize my property, services, and freedom so that you may give it to wards of said government?

Answer? Eminent Domain. Remember that conservative Supreme Court that all the REP'S wanted, the one that ruled that the government can seize private property for the purpose of economic expansion...those guys? They said we could do it. Congratulations! Next time, be careful what you wish for.

It is inconceivable that an inept president, lacking any experience in management skills has turned the economy over to two idealogical fools like Pelosi and Reid and the American public holds him in regards as some boy genius. This stimulus bill is not even remotely going to stimulate anything but the pockets of a few politicians. Don't explain why this bill needed to pass without debate in 24 hours without a fair hearing and then explain the meaning of democracy in practice to the world. The only thing not in this bill is the one thing that is most important and could stimulate the economy immediately, not to mention the national defense. When the press media gets off its adoration of Obama it just may find itself Out of business. There is no room left in the Obama bathroom for all the "yes we can" BS artists calling themselves journalists.

Re:Yes, and the South won the Civil War, er, I mean "the War Between the States."

Uh, actually, the south did win the Civil War.
Oh I grant(pun intended) you they lost the battles, and the slaves, but they gained Jim Crow for 110 years, gained the big money industry, the military bases, the political issues, and basically ran the country for the last fifty years. Only now, that the country has been run into the ditch has the power base moved a little northward, and still we have to listen to southern senators complain about how evil the unions are, how good wages are killing their opportunity to compete overseas, how over the border labor are killing American jobs so we must do nothing about that.
Lost the Civil War...Give me a break.

Thinking about the stimulus, i decided to figure the cost of everything from fanny mae to the estimated cost of the Obama bailout and the treasury's proposed financial fixes. $ # trillion was a rough guess, then i devided the amount to a bailout of the roughly 100 million Americans that actually need the help, come to $ 30,000.00 a head, so i ask you, in the form of research fo what a bailout would do, what would you spend $ 30 K on if you got bailed out?
Never mind that it would never happen, this is to figure out how much you would save, spend and put to your child's education, etc. My interest is how much would boost the finance sector, how many foreclosed homes would be salvaged, tax revinue towards the treasury, state taxes for infrastructure and the economic boost towards local small businesses, including, if you are a small businessperson, if you would prevent employee layoffs or hire more due to a surge in consumer buying power.
My bet is, that the current bailouts would not be nessesary if a stimulus was placed where it was needed, instead of the current waste of the, road to nowhere bailouts.

The American people didn't vote for bipartisanship in the last election - they voted for an end to gridlock in the government. The voters wanted action on problems - on the economy, on healthcare, on the wars, - the voters indicated that they were done with inaction or more of the same.

It doesn't hurt Obama if he reaches out - and then gets his hand slapped. You see, by picking up a couple of GOP Senators he can do it without the GOP.

After two devasting defeats the GOP is left with "more of the same" remedies (tax cuts! drill baby drill!) and no new ideas.

The only principle uniting them right now is opposition to anything Obama.

In the end, that may excite the "base" but is insufficient for electoral victory.

:-)

Posted by: toritto | February 15, 2009 11:02 AM

Just because Republicans voted no does not mean the stimulus bill is not bipartisan. The media needs to inform the public of what elements in this bill represent Republican interests. What elements represent bipartisan consensus? The final vote tally does not tell the complete truth. I believe a thorough examination will reveal this to be what most analysts would be able to call a bipartisan package.

Posted by: TeddyRoosevelt | February 15, 2009 10:55 AM

Let's see...the majority of Americans supported the stimulus package, but almost every Republican in Congress voted against it.

By ignoring the will of the American people, Boehner and Cantor are driving the Republican party to extinction in 2010. Good job!!

FDR created the Great Depression??? What?

Yes, and the South won the Civil War, er, I mean "the War Between the States." I get it. It's ridiculous, but I get it. The Depression began before FDR was first elected President.

Here's a quick free history lesson from David Sirota of the SF Chronicle excerpted from his excellent article on this topic:

"According to Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, "Only with the New Deal's rehabilitation of the financial system in 1933-35 did the economy begin its slow emergence from the Great Depression." In fact, even famed conservative economist Milton Friedman admitted that the New Deal's Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. was "the structural change most conducive to monetary stability since ... the Civil War."

OK - if the verifiable evidence proves the New Deal did not prolong the Depression, what about historians - do they "pretty much agree" on the opposite?

Again, no.

As Newsweek's Daniel Gross reports, "One would be very hard-pressed to find a serious professional historian who believes that the New Deal prolonged the Depression.""

As for executive compensation, the corporate mantra that market forces set the level of CEO pay is bogus. The CEO's of other countries get nowhere near the money the U.S. CEO's get. Not even close. And the wealth/income distribution balance in the U.S. is so far out of whack that, for the first time in our history, the average CEO earns more in ONE DAY than the average wage earner makes in ONE YEAR.

An idea: Cap U.S. CEO pay at $125K and then place an ad for CEOs in New Dehli, Manila, Hong Kong, and Bangkok. Do that and you'll have to build a warehouse to hold all of the job applications.

MadoffWorld has been skimming off the top and hoarding wealth for years, making sums you couldn't spend in a million lifetimes. Enough is enough.

When someone compares BHO to FDR, let's be clear--that's a good thing.

The GOP rubber stamped Bush/Cheney for the last 8 years, shredding the Constitution, plunging the nation into unncessary war and recession while spending hundreds of billions on useless tax cuts for the super-rich.

Nobody believes intrickle down economics anymore....what you're really afraid of is that a significant majority of Americans will really like spending on the needs of people.

Smile....we promise you will get another chance in the next election...but if you don't wise up you will be in the wilderness for decades....a lily white southern party of true believers,

WOW! Everybody is blasting on Obama about the bill. You all don't know whether he's lying or not. We all need to wait and see how far this plan will go, because it will do some good since we're in the economic depression. Just give him a shot and we'll see if he's for real, or lying.

Posted by: chaniquafrazier | February 15, 2009 10:01 AM

Toritto-

I notice that you did not address anything I said. Glad that you agree.

As far as FDR, please go read your history books. The Great Depression was almost over when he took office. He was successful at passing several laws, based on the theory (held currently) that the "rich were too rich". This managed to pull, through social work camps, from around 22% unemployment to around 14%. These anti-capital policies led to a steep recession in 1937, and a rise to 19% unemployment. Fortunately, our German friends were eager for war. The need for production to support our allies, and then to support our armies, employed the masses.

Even the monument downtown notes FDR's ineffectiveness in dealing with the problems.

aeaustin-

Is that your hand in my pocket? What gives you, or our Constitutional government the right to seize my property, services, and freedom so that you may give it to wards of said government? I'll make it simple for you: The 4th Amendment denies you that ability. The 10th Amendment denies Congress that ability. And the 2nd Amendment allows us to protect both of those.

Redistribution of wealth is Unconstitutional. It was back when FDR did it. It is now. You had better wake up, yourself, before you willingly give up all of the rights and freedoms granted to you by the Founding Fathers, and those who shed blood securing our liberties. Lest you, too, become a slave!

After pushing Congress for weeks to hurry up and pass the massive $787 billion stimulus bill, President Obama promptly took off for a three-day holiday getaway.

Obama arrived at his home in Chicago on Friday, and treated wife Michelle to a Valentine's Day dinner downtown last night. The couple was spotted leaving upscale Table Fifty-Two, which specializes in Southern cuisine, with the first lady toting what appeared to be a doggie bag.

The president plans to spend the Presidents' Day weekend in the Windy City, and is not expected to sign the bill until Tuesday, when he travels to Denver to discuss his economic plan.

The push to get the bill through before the holiday weekend was so frantic, members of Congress didn't have a chance to read all 1,071 pages of the document before they could vote.

Posted by: ChangeWhat | February 15, 2009 9:35 AM

The republicans who voted aginst the spending bill did not obstruct repairing damage President Bush had done, they were trying to stop further damage by President Obama. The same kind of damage that you liberals railed aginst 30 days ago during the first spending bill so conveniently called a bailout. This next one is no different, just bigger and with more waist in it. I was aginst the first one and I am aginst this one also. I am consistant. I want someone to stand up for me in DC and stop spending tax payer money to ruin my country.

Posted by: markandbeth | February 15, 2009 9:32 AM

Obstructionist Republicans had better wake up and start working with the rest of us at cleaning up the huge mess that is the Bush Administration's legacy. Unfortunately, they appear to be working toward the President's "failure" in hopes of "winning" in 2010. That is quite obvious.

ATTENTION ALL AMERICANS!!!

PLEASE PASS THIS ON TO FRIENDS, RELATIVES, AND INTERESTED ACQUAINTANCES!!!

HAND OUT COPIES AT YOUR LOCAL UNEMPLOYMENT OFFICE.

OBAMA PROMISED US THAT HE WAS GOING TO CRACK DOWN ON EMPLOYERS OF ILLEGALS!!

INSTEAD, OBAMA, AND THE DEMOCRATS, STRIPPED E-VERIFY FROM THE STIMULUS BILL!!

OBAMA LIED TO ALL AMERICANS!!!

DO NOT ALLOW OBAMA, AND THE DEMOCRATS, TO HOLD E-VERIFY HOSTAGE, OR WORSE YET, ELIMINATE E-VERIFY!!

E-VERIFY PREVENTS ILLEGALS FROM ILLEGALLY OBTAINING JOBS THAT BELONG TO AMERICANS!!

It is known that approximately 8.7 miillion illegals now hold jobs, within our United States, that they illegally obtained, using forged, and/or stolen identities. It is against our existing laws, for an illegal to be employed, by anyone, anywhere, within our United States.

These are jobs that Americans will do. Jobs in construction, manufacturing, and food processing.

E-Verify will give these jobs back to unemployed American citizens.

The current unemployment rate among blacks is 12.6%

Blacks suffer the most from the many millions of illegals competing for the same jobs

In the last 22 years, since the Reagan one-time amnesty, over 26 million illegals have been apprehended, after they crossed the border into our United States.

UNITED STATES BORDER APPREHENSIONS (Source DHS/CBP)
1987--1,190,488------1995--1,394,554------2003----931,557
1988--1,008,145------1996--1,649,986------2004--1,160,395

1990--1,169,939------1998--1,555,776------2006--1,089,902
1991--1,197,875------1999--1,579,010------2007----876,704
1992--1,258,482------2000--1,676,438------2008----723,825

1994--1,094,717------2002----955,310

However, less than 1, out of 4, illegals, crossing into our United States, are estimated to have been apprehended.

Lack of E-verify in the Stimulus Bill only entices even more illegals to enter our country!!

E-Verify will rectify this problem, but first, it needs to be enacted.

There are now 11.6 million unemployed American citizens, and that number is growing.

WE CANNOT ALLOW ILLEGALS TO TAKE, OR RETAIN, JOBS, THAT RIGHTFULLY BELONG TO UNEMPLOYED AMERICANS.

TAKE MATTERS INTO YOUR OWN HANDS AMERICANS!

it's a falasy of thought to point fingers and wage a disparaging argument about the virtues of the stimulus package against President Obama when fingers should be pointed directly at the Republicans. The Repugs are using the same strategy as they used in the general election ..which was to distance themselves from Bush and to distance themselves from their own Party. ..now instead of working in a bipartisan manner with the best interest of America uppermost in mind they are once again playing this "it wasn't me" game and they even had the gall to write their own stimulus package..as if nothing has changed and they are still in power. Fool me once shame on me..but you dastardly buzzards will not ..no not..this time have the opportunity to fool thinking Americans again.... You are responsible for the mess that America is in ..because you turned a deaf ear and a blind eye to what was transpiring in the banking industry etc... and to wish that the President fails at this critical time in America's history is to wish that America fails.. you unpatriotic BAS...DS.

Fact Pelosi and Reid rammed the largest spending bill ever in the history of this country without any meaningful debate or discussion.
Fact: Obama "we need to act quickly before a crises becomes a catastrophe".

Obama "It is imperitive that we act quickly before a crises becomes a catastrophe."

So we rush the largest spending bill ever without any debate or review because it is too much of a crises to wait. And now our president cannot even vote present because he left town while congress "worked" all night.

One of the biggest reasons people stated why they defaulting on their mortgage was they did not know or understand the terms of the agreement. Doesn’t it concern you that our Congressional Representatives just approved $787 billion dollars of our tax money without reading the entire proposal?

Posted by: WeThePeopleofVA | February 14, 2009 11:44 PM

Eric Cantor is like a goat who constantly bleats noooooooooooooooooooo. He lacks gravitas and seriousness because he is literally in bed with the greedy financial institutions thanks to his bride( a once wall street creature -then became a bureaucrat as a director for Virginia higher ed tuition savings trust--then went to wall street to milk the gravy etc etc.. When he votes against limits of executive compensation and the stimulus he definitely has a conflict of interest.. all he is doing is grandstanding so he will be noticed. So the loud bleating from him will continue with nauseating repetitions.

Somebody should look into who is supporting Eric Cantor in his effort to block bipartisanship in Congress. Cantor is wrong and probably in bed with business interests. What are they giving him to lead the opposition?

Hapless Republicans are whining like little girls.....want some cheese with that whine?

The GOP rubber stamped Bush/Cheney for the last 8 years, shredding the Constitution, plunging the nation into unncessary war and recession while spending hundreds of billions on useless tax cuts for the super-rich.

Nobody believes intrickle down economics anymore....what you're really afraid of is that a significant majority of Americans will really like spending on the needs of people.

Smile....we promise you will get another chance in the next election...but if you don't wise up you will be in the wilderness for decades....a lily white southern party of true believers,

:-)

"He said the recession has left the nation so weak that only the federal government can "jolt our economy back to life." And he declared that failure to act swiftly and boldly "could turn a crisis into a catastrophe."

Act swiftly? The bill was signed on Friday and Obama will sign it on Tuesday? Politics over country.

just curious, Saint, but would you be one of those 50 million? and where do you get the amount of $10,000 as what to give people? why not $5,000 and you can give it to 100 million people. or perhaps $2500 and you can give it to 200 million people. and its not taxable. hey sounds good to me. so good suggestion.

Well, since O'Bomba-Nation has done ZILCH for all the destroyed Self-Employed, and Marginally-Employed(No More!) with his Half Baked Pork-fest;

Maybe Geithner might actually FORCE Some Lending from the Banks to People who might not otherwise QUALIFY!

Maybe Government Secured Loans that if defaulted on, could be sent to the IRS to eventually collect!

Want "Stimulus"?

Try getting 50 Million $10,000 Loans out to Cash Strapped Americans who are NOT receiving any other benefits! And because of the fact, are DESTROYED and DYING!

50 Million $10,000 Loans;

$500 Billion!

THAT, would be some FED Money, well LENT!
