Obama to Appear Sunday on '60 Minutes'

By Howard Kurtz
President Obama may be lightening things up with a visit to Jay Leno this week, but no one can accuse him of ducking of ducking tougher journalistic forums.

Obama has agreed to sit down with "60 Minutes" for an interview that will air Sunday. CBS's Steve Kroft will be questioning the president. The interview has not yet been announced.

The president has drawn some skeptical reaction for his decision to head to Leno's "Tonight Show" couch at a time when the economy is in dire straits and he is under fire for failing to block $165 million in bonuses to AIG executives despite a federal bailout of the company. That subject is certain to come up in the "60 Minutes" questioning.

Despite early predictions that Obama would largely bypass the mainstream media and conduct a YouTube presidency, he has repeatedly made himself available to traditional news organizations. Obama has granted interviews to the network anchors, PBS's Jim Lehrer, the New York Times, the Washington Post editorial board, and NBC's Matt Lauer at the Super Bowl, while also chatting up black and Hispanic journalists and talk show hosts.

How will the president fare on "60 Minutes" at a time when his administration is on the defensive? The clock is ticking.

President Obama is the best leader we could have right now. The instant blogs and GOP negative opinions are trying to destroy him.
GOP slogan. JUST SAY NO. What a bunch of losers. They do not care about the country they are a bunch of old worn out politicians. Retire McCain and shut your mouth.

Open Letter to the American People
We are citizens of Germany and want to inform you that new possibilities of terror may arise from Germany. We don't want that once more there could be terror in the U. S. or other countries coming from persons or weapons from Germany!
The USA could be attacked with microwave weapons (directed energy weapons / radio frequency weapons) that are already used by perpetrators, and organized crime in Germany.
Microwave weapons and e-bombs are a real threat to people and critical infrastructures like computer networks, power grids, literally anything that works with electronics or computers. They can take down airplanes.
The German police and law enforcement don't do anything to stop the misuse and testing of these weapons by criminals.
For more information see

Gee, what's next? Maybe Dancing with Stars, America's Funniest Videos,Ripley's Believe it or Not?, or maybe even an interview with a conservative talk show host- probably not, but who knows what Saint Obama will do next to sell the american people a bag of worms.

JohnAdams1: Isn't Obama holding two town-hall meetings in California later this week?

Seems to me that the Obama administration is on the offense and not the defense. The critics of the Obama administration are on the defense.

has obama gone mad? what is the matter with the press------to buy this outrage
of our political system

What standing does 60 minutes have in our poliitical system?
do they have a consituency?
do they represent voters?
do they answer to the voters?

do they speak for the voters?

what is Obama thinking?

He needs to speak directly to the americna people not to a media event

I am sorry but someone needs to take control of the political office of president before he completely melts down

hello joe Biden you are on

If executives gave away money of AIG's to persons that did not deserve them, e.g., retention bonuses to those no longer in employment at AIG, they should go to prison. The issue is fraudulent bonuses that need to stop. The way to stop the flow of water is not to catch the water coming out of the drain but to shut off the spigot.

PERSONAL TO STEVE KROFT (CBS D.C. bureau, please forward):

WILL STEVE KROFT PULL A 'JOHN KING' AND LOB SOFTBALLS...

...OR WILL HE DO A 'JON STEWART' AND DARE TO ASK OBAMA ABOUT SY HERSH'S 'EXECUTIVE ASSASSINATION SQUAD' REVELATION?

Why didn't CNN's John King ask Cheney about the Sy Hersh allegation that he ran an "executive assassination ring" out of the White House?

Why hasn't the mainstream media followed up on the story by asking the Obama White House what they know of the revelation -- and whether domestic "black ops" against U.S. citizens continue, as Hersh said last week?

Why has Rep. Dennis Kucinich's call for a full Congressional investigation into the issues raised by Sy Hersh received scant media coverage -- not even a mention here?

Why hasn't the mainstream media covered the proliferation of silent, inury- and illness-inducing microwave radiation weaponry (a/k/a "directed energy weapons") among law enforcement agencies coast to coast...

...weapons being deceptively sold as "non-lethals" or "less lethals," weapons that merely "heat" the "outer layer" of human skin -- when, in fact, such weaponry has the capability of "cooking" human tissue from the inside out.

CBS' "60 Minutes" bought the disinformation hook, line and sinker in its report last year on the "Active Denial System" -- oblivious of the fact that microwave radiation weaponry is widely available in hand-held models, and is capable of cooking human tissue from the inside out.

I would argue that the issues enumerated above are political issues -- issues that a complacent, submissive mainstream media has been conditioned to avoid.

Colleagues, the revelations from Seymour Hersh represent but one strand of a complex and insidious web of policies and covert, coordinated "multi-agency actions" that, taken together, constitute an ongoing extrajudicial targeting and punishment network...

...an authoritarian apparatus that in communities nationwide destroys lives and makes a mockery of the rule of law.

This is a scandal far worse than Watergate -- a cancer on the nation that has gone undiagnosed due largely to media malpractice.

TEAM OBAMA: WHAT DO YOUR BUSH HOLDOVERS KNOW ABOUT THESE SECURITY-INTEL-REVENUE 'MULTI-AGENCY COORDINATED ACTIONS'...

* Silent, covert microwave radiation weapons (D.E.W.) assaults on innocent but "targeted" U.S. citizens;

* Terroristic vigilante community gang stalking, surreptitious home entry, police-tolerated vandalism;

* Secret federal "programs of personal financial destruction" that have used the IRS as an ideological tool of "social cleansing."

Could this be set up for a presidential mea culpa on AIG?
