Obama Sets International Climate Forum

Updated 5:18 p.m.
By Philip Rucker and Juliet Eilperin
Establishing a dialogue between developed and developing countries, President Obama today launched a Major Economies Forum on Energy and Climate, with the group's first meeting set in Washington in April, followed by a summit in Italy in July.

Obama invited the leaders of 16 major economies, as well as the secretary general of the United Nations, to participate in the forum. The White House said in a statement that the forum was designed to "help generate the political leadership necessary to achieve a successful outcome" at the U.N. climate change negotiations to take place in Copenhagen in December, as well as explore "concrete initiatives and joint ventures that increase the supply of clean energy while cutting greenhouse gas emissions."

Leaders will meet for the first meeting at the State Department on April 27 and 28 and will gather again in July in La Maddelena, Italy. Participating nations include: Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, the European Union, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Russia, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Denmark, which is hosting the December climate change negotiations, and the U.N. also have been invited to participate.

The new initiative represents a modified version of the Major Economies Meeting started by President George W. Bush and attacked by some industrialized and developed countries. When Bush launched the series of talks, arguing that major emitters across the globe could benefit by meeting outside the formal U.N. climate negotiations, several foreign officials accused the United States of seeking to undermine the U.N. process.

As recently as a couple months ago, key players such as South Africa's Minister of Environmental Affairs and Tourism, Marthinus van Schalkwyk, dismissed the major economies meeting process as dead. But Obama officials believe the talks could help forge a basis for a broader U.N. climate agreement in December, when negotiators will meet in Copenhagen to develop a pact aimed at cutting global greenhouse gas emissions.

The ice is expanding, and the winter storms are extending into spring, so global cooling is happening.

Obviously, "global warming" is a fiction, and is being used as a cover to redistribute wealth from the rich nations to the poor nations.

Calling CO2 a "pollutant" is a stretch, way beyond legitimate science.

This "warming" fraud must be stopped!

Politicians pushing environmental dogmas have already done more damage to the environment and to humanity than many terrorist groups, and they want to do even more!

Understanding how destructive they are, Vaclav Klaus, president of the European Union, says, “environmentalism is the new communism and climate change is a dangerous myth.”

And Lord Christopher Monckton says, "The environmental movement has to be outlawed, because their policies have murdered 40 million people, mainly children, with the ban on DDT… They have caused mass starvation and food riots with their nonsensical drive for bio-fuels. The forces of darkness in the environmental movement want create a new dark age in which humanity is pushed back to the Stone Age and without the right to light a fire."

Obama and the United Nations are trying to force us to swallow the global warming hoax. Obama will use the hoax to impose communism/socialism on us, which will destroy our economy and our country.

More and more scientists and thinking people all over the world are realizing that man-made global warming is a hoax that threatens our future and the future of our children. More than 700 international scientists dissent over man-made global warming claims. They are now more than 13 times the number of UN scientists (52) who authored the media-hyped IPCC 2007 Summary for Policymakers.

Additionally, 32,000 American scientists have signed onto a petition that states, "There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gases is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth’s atmosphere and disruption of the Earth’s climate…"

"Progressive" (communist) politicians like Obama seem determined to force us to swallow the man-made global warming scam. We need to defend ourselves from the UN and these politicians, who threaten our future and the future of our children. Based on a lie, they have already wasted billions and plan to increase taxes, limit development, and enslave us.

If not stopped, the global warming scam will enrich the scammers (Gore and Obama’s Wall Street friends), increase the power of the United Nations and communists like Obama, and multiply poverty and servitude for the rest of us.

Here in Colorado, we have watched our climate degrade as the mass migration of liberal Californians to our state has increased. The more liberals that come here, the less snow we get. Maybe, liberals cause global warming!

As the California migration moved north, Washington and Oregon started to observe low rainfall for the first time. Again, their precipitation fell as liberals migrated north.

What about Florida? Florida, a strong conservative state has seen more and more liberals moving to their state. The result? Climate change. Water shortages in the keys!

In the Midwest, we have seen it too. As liberals infiltrated Indiana, Ohio and other states, water shortages started to occur.

In fact, in every state where liberals have migrated to in large numbers, the precipitation rate has dropped and water shortages have occurred.

Using Pelosi Logic, this is proof that Liberals Do Cause Global Warming.

My hope is that President Obama will listen to ALL scientists, and not play politics with global warming. For the past ten years I was certain that CO2 was the driver of global warming. Now, after a great deal of research for my website I realize there are too many unaddressed questions to conclude that global warming is man-made. For instance, if global warming is man-made why was it warmer a 1,000 years ago when Vikings grew grapes in Greenland (they even named it 'Vinland') and the Chinese grew citrus in areas now too cold? Ditto for grapes in Italy 2,000 years ago.

its not _fringe or right wing_ to see the facts! Google is your friend! use it! recently over 600 scientist some very high on the food chain say, man made global warming is not sported by the scientific data!

"I have no doubt that a trend of global warming exists," Griffin told Inskeep. "I am not sure that it is fair to say that it is a problem we must wrestle with."

"To assume that it is a problem is to assume that the state of Earth's climate today is the optimal climate, the best climate that we could have or ever have had and that we need to take steps to make sure that it doesn't change," Griffin said.

fact...co2 is _not a proven scientific green house gas!_ To say co2 is the only and sole thing responsible for the earths temp is like saying oregano is the only ingredient in a pizza..... do you really think the sun is always the same temp, how about vapor(water) in the atmosphere, how about the circulation of the oceans that make up 70% of the earth, how about plankton that's at an all time low, and oh it produces what, that's right oxygen! and removes what? that's right co2! hmm do i see a pattern. And not to be left out is one very important thing. The only thing consistent about the Earths climate is _CHANGE!_

What is it about this column that attracts fringe-right nut cases?

The Copenhagen treaty will authorize the UN to have taxing authority over Americans. We will end up sending trillions of dollars to Third World Countries. If Obama signs on to this he will have sold out the Country to the UN and Socialist around the world.

It doesn't make a tinkers damn what or who Obama meets with over this hoax of Global Warming. When congress takes this up they better darn well here testimony equal in time length from the scientist that deny Global Warming. Plenty of qualified scientist have studied this perpetual global warming myth and many have stated that false information and inaccurate models have been used. Don't let our elected representatives ram carbon credit and higher costs of living down our throats until testimony is heard from both sides of the table.
If Al Gores vision of science is lies, distortion, half truths and scare tactics to line his pockets with money from your wallets; you better write your congressman and stop him now.

What I want to hear(And SEE), is some actual Tracking of the effects on COOLING that the much over-due Seismic Activity in Chili, and recently Alaska-along with lessor activity in Indonesia, are going to have.

SulfurDiOxide, is one of the things the stratosphere has been Hurting for!

IT, finally getting injected up into the Stratosphere is going to do waaaayyyyy more than all of Barry and Big Gay Al's Hot Air!

LOL! Posted this on the "Flood" Page by mistake! ;~)
