No Nats First Pitch for Obama

By Michael A. Fletcher
President Obama has turned down an invitation to throw the ceremonial first pitch at the home opener of the Washington Nationals against the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday.

Tommy Vietor, a White House spokesman, said today that Obama, who returned from an eight-day overseas trip this week and is planning to leave for Mexico and Trinidad next week, would not be doing the honors.

Vice President Biden threw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Orioles home opener against the New York Yankees on Monday of this week. Obama, a longtime Chicago White Sox fan and a close friend of the team's general manager, was unable to throw out the first pitch for the Sox home opener earlier this week as he was winding down his trip, which to took him to Europe, Turkey and Iraq.

Quotejohnnymac27" "You people are an endless source of laughs, keep up the good work!

You are the laugh of the minute. Obama's sister can't even get the right hospital in Hawaii. His other relatives say Kenya.

"There is also a discrepancy in what hospital Barack Hussein Obama was born in, even if he was born in Hawaii. Reports by his own sister in two separate interviews state that he was born at two different hospitals -- Kapiolani Hospital and Queens Hospital--in Honolulu.

The Times Herald even reports: "the senator's grandmother, brother and sister, who live in Kenya, believe they were present during Obama's birth in the African country." Here, the Times Herald uses the word that his family 'believe' he was born in Kenya (perhaps to avoid possible law suits by Obama's Truth Squad?).

Why won't he straighten out his sister and relatives? Apparently because he is not eligible to be president. The proof is on your side, while we laugh at you and your left leaning ilk.

I'm curious... what would actually seeing the birth certificate prove? What could be ascertained by viewing the paper that you could not get from the image posted on his website?

I mean, it's not like birth certificates from the 60's have impossible to duplicate holograms and embedded identifier chips, or anything like that. It's a piece of paper, it would be easy to fake.

Your best bet might be to carbon-date the paper, and try to show that it's not 45 year old paper. Of course, this would require that you believe in the methods of carbon dating to be accurate and trustworthy, which then means you'd be implicitly acknowledging that the earth is more than 6000 years old, which I know you right-wingnutters don't believe.

You people are an endless source of laughs, keep up the good work!

Quote: "he cannot or will not present a certified birth certificate"

I should have said an original birth certificate. The state of Hawaii will not release it, as they will not release any birth records. Surely, if he wanted, he could put these rumors to rest, but no. Even Hillary Clinton supporters were asking for these records during the election. At least two states sued for these records. But no.

For katerina, quoted from several sources.
Here's your "e-rumor". Look it up:

Quote: "
Someone is lying. According to Obama's Kenyan (paternal) grandmother, as well as his half-brother and half-sister, Barack Hussein Obama was born in Kenya, not in Hawaii as the Democratic candidate for president claims. His grandmother bragged that her grandson is about to be President of the United States and is so proud because she was present DURING HIS BIRTH IN KENYA, in the delivery room..."

Posted by: wly34 | April 13, 2009 9:42 PM

katerinaDeligiannis | Whatever, he's already in the White House. The argument is not that he was born in Hawaii, he cannot or will not present a certified birth certificate. His aunt, his grandmother on his fathers side and all his relatives say that he was born in Kenya.

Summary of the eRumor:
There are a couple of eRumors about this.

A couple of eRumors:

One says Obama was born in Hawaii before it became a part of the United States and is, therefore, not a U.S. citizen by birth, which is a requirement for being president.

The other says that U.S. law stipulates that if only one parent was a citizen at the time of your birth, that parent must have resided in the United States for at least ten year, at least five of which had to be after the age of 16. The eRumor says that Obama's mother was only 18 when he was born, which was only 2 years after the age of 18. One version claims to be from economist Thomas Sowell.

The Truth:
All of these claims are intentional hoaxes, including the version that claims to be from Thomas Sowell. Somebody simply tacked his name onto the eRumor.

First, Hawaii became a part of the United States in 1959. Barack Obama was born in Hawaii in 1961 so his birth was in the United States, not just a U.S. territory. Obama has posted his birth certificate on his web site. CLICK HERE for that page. Even if he had been born in Hawaii when it was a U.S. territory, he would still be regarded as a citizen. According to The Immigration and Nationality Act, Title III, SEC. 305. [8 U.S.C. 1405], "A person born in Hawaii on or after April 30, 1900, is a citizen of the United States at birth." Republican candidate John McCain was born in Panama and is considered to be a U.S. citizen under the same act. McCain was born on a U.S. military base and both of his parents were U.S. citizens.

But that doesn't matter. The faux controversy isn't going to go away soon. Yes, Obama was born in Hawaii, and yes, he is eligible to be president. But according to several experts in conspiracy theories, and in the psychology of people who believe in conspiracy theories, there's little chance those people who think Obama is barred from the presidency will ever be convinced otherwise.
in other words they are all just ignorant!!

On the contrary Rooster, I believe our founding fathers had no intention of our judges interpreting the Constitution. Your statement and mine are two different things completely. A course in reading comprehension is in order for you.

BTW, "our democratic election laws" are not democratic at all. We are not a democracy, we are a republic. A lot of difference. Look it up. Do you think the electoral college is democratic? Well, what do you think of a candidate receiving the majority of votes, but that candidate is not elected to office. HMMMM

Hillarious?

Do you think our democratic election laws were not conceived with the will of the people in mind? Do you think our founding fathers were a joke? Apparently so.

Also, many judges do take the intentions of the framers of a statute into consideration when deciding a verdict.

Guys put the bats down, we can come to a understanding on this. Forget the Birth Certificate. Forget where he was born. Look at the undisputed facts. His daddy was a British Citizen, that is agreed to by all. Being a British Citizen and not an American, Daddy "O" was under the jurisdiction of British Common Law at the time of baby "O"'s birth, BCL says that a male Brit overseas that marries a alien female, and have a child, gives that new born child British Citizenship at birth. Baby "O" was born a Brit. How can a man that is born a British Citizen ever hope to be eligible for President of the United States of America as long as Article 2. Section 1. paragraph 5. in still in our great Constitution? Natural Born, see what John Jay had to say about this to George Washington during the founding of our Constitution. The Natural Born requirement for President and Vice President was put there to prevent just what was allowed to happen in this illegal election. A person born a citizen to another country can not hold our office of President. Case closed.
PS don't think Biden is next up. The games over. Time for a New Election.

Posted by: ok4u | April 11, 2009 4:11 PM

To those that continue to think the question of Obama's eligibility being a Republican issue keep in mind it was first raised in February 2008 by Hillary and the Democrats. The Hillary blogs at that time were filled with it. So it is not a Republican thing.

To witness the stonewalling of our government on this issue and the judicial system is a disgrace. This issue should have been fully and openly answered. Obama has refused to answer it. The Democratic Party has refused to answer it, and a bogus posting on a pro-Obama website of a short form abstract of birth does not answer it. When did the Democratic Party turn over vetting of their candidates to factcheck?

The State of Hawaii has not announced that Obama was born in Hawaii. They have only announced that they are holding Obama's original birth certificate, which he could produce by signing a release and paying $12.00. Too date he has refused to do so. Obama has blocked production of any of his past records. People are judged by their actions, Obama is trying to hide something.

It is deeply disturbing that the government would condone this sham and the courts turn a blind eye to justice. Voting laws need to revised to close this obvious loophole in voting and ensure that all candidates in the future are fully vetted and found to meet the Constitutional requirement of a Natural Born Citizen BEFORE THEIR NAMES ARE PLACED ON THE PRIMARY BALLOTS.

JakeD-
You're a Pharisee. We have many laws can be twisted into traps, and that is what you are attempting to do. The spirit of the law is that the will of the people is respected.

Jesus said that man was not made for the sabbath, but that the sabbath was made for man. Rules can be applied in ways that are facilitative, or they can be applied in ways that are obstructive.

Necons and neoliberals have a history of subverting democracies abroad and at home when they don't like the way people vote. You obviously will do whatever you can to subvert the will of the people, if it doesn't alighn itself with your vision (hallucination?).

You lost. We won. That is all.

Now. You're a pretty smart guy. Give me an intelligent response to the death of Michael Connell.

Of course, GW Bush, spent an enormmous amount of time at sporting events leading right up to 9/11. I remember Jim Rome poking fun at Bush for calling the results of a coin toss incorrectly on the week preceeding 9/11. Rome went on to say, "He can't even get a coin toss right when he's looking right at it! Why is he spending so much time at sporting events anyway? Didn't we elect him to do a job?"

No Jim. We didn't elect him at all.

I would never engage the small-minded (and most likely teeny-tiny footed) JakeD about his ideas on President Obama's birth certificate -- because that would be like taking his "Binky."

But I can answer his question about our First Lady and why she came home early. First, she is a good mother and had spent more than enough time away from her lovely children and second, since the Commander-In-Chief was planning to stop in Iraq on the way home, to give medals to his troops, consult with his generals and hold talks with Iraqi officials, she, naturally cared about security and did the right thing by leaving early.

Now, JakeD, go back to Right Wing Fantasy Land where, almost 50 years ago, a lower middle class pregnant 17 year old mother decides to make a 2 day plane trip to a Third World Country that had recently been through devastating and violent experiences gaining independence, to have her first child -- away from loving and supportive parents and then asks the local newspapers to lie about it (and US and Kenyan travel and immigration and customs Officials to keep it a secret) because she has a feeling her son will be the first African-American president -- even though, at the time, blacks can't even go to the same public bathrooms as whites in many US states and her relationship and marriage with the baby's father is against the law in several US states. Buh-bye!

JakeD says “It is not "fictional" that every lawsuit has been tossed on PROCEDURAL grounds such lack of standing. Be sure to let me know when the Supreme Court rules on the merits.”

In that fantasy world of magical thinking, he continues to believe there’s some time possibility that such a “…frivolous and harassing case…” will ever even REACH the Supreme Court. Jake, please continue your efforts to limit the GOP’s complete platform to:

“Muslim William Ayers Hussein Lib Pledge of Allegiance
Socialist Birth certificate Wife's comments Moonbat Libs
Hussein Muslim Anti-Christ Black PLO Militant Lib
Spread the wealth Rezko Whitey Gay Natural-born
Bitter Guns Religion Fistbump Elite Kenya Muslim
Socialist Indonesian school Abortion Hussein Muslim
Celebrity Reverend Wright Muslim Pfleger Messiah
Citizen Paris Hilton Socialism Blagojevich Hussein
Hawaii Muslim Chicago Khalidi Foreign Redistribute
Hussein Flag pin Muslim Muslim ACORN Hussein SEIU
Muslim.”

Notice what’s missing there? Try:

“Iraq Economy Transportation Asia Education China
Defense Science Labor Troops Immigration Energy
Civil Liberties Europe Education Deficit Cities Trade
Latin America Healthcare Iran Veterans Agriculture
India Pakistan Manufacturing Competiveness Commerce
Infrastructure Middle-East Environment.”

To repeat, JakeD in his utterly frivolous fictional fantasies, continues as the Democrats best friend, doing his best to make sure Republicans continue to lose elections through the refusal to rationally discuss meaningful issues.

I patiently await the reclamation of the Republican Party by actual conservatives although, noting the recent reelection of Dick Wadhams as chairman of the Colorado Republican Party, that may not happen here very soon.

(If you don’t recognize Wadhams, he was Virginia Senator George Allen’s campaign manager and was going to be Allen's Karl Rove, right up to the moment Allen uttered the immortal word, “Macaca.” Last cycle he managed the Colorado R's Right-Wing-Evangelical Senate candidate, Resulting in new D Senator Mark Udall.)

2) If he presents them, you still won't shut up but will start asking for DNA samples, the corpse of his recently deceased mother, and a vivisection as well, just to make sure he isn't actually an alien with two livers and three hearts.

Can you even hear how crazy you sound? Guess not.

JakeD wrote: "It is not "fictional" that every lawsuit has been tossed on PROCEDURAL grounds such lack of standing."

No, indeed, it's not fictional, but it surely is telling. The people who file these suits can't even file a suit correctly. It's as if, oh, I don't know, maybe like they have no grounds for their suit. Like they are filing frivolous suits that can't even pass the most minimal standards for acceptance. Something like that, maybe. It's not fictional, you're right. They are in fact pathetic suits.

If Mr. Obama is a natural born citizen of the United States, why then does he refuse to present his birth certificate, his draft registration card, his college admission records, and why did he lie on his bar exam and say that he has only been known by one name ? If he really has nothing to hide , then why doesn't he present these items and shut us up?

For JakeD and the other obsessive fantasists, all the “Natural Born” courts cases have ended like this:

WASHINGTON (AP) — A federal judge
on Thursday threw out a lawsuit questioning
President Barack Obama's citizenship,
lambasting the case as a waste of the court's
time and suggesting the plaintiff's attorney
may have to compensate the president's lawyer.

In an argument popular on the Internet and
taken seriously practically nowhere else,
Obama's critics argue he is ineligible to be
president because he is not a "natural-
born citizen" as the Constitution requires.

In response last summer, Obama's campaign
posted his Hawaiian birth certificate on
its Web site. But the lawsuit argues it is a f
ake and that Obama was actually born in
his father's homeland of Kenya, even though
Hawaiian officials have said the document is
authentic.

"This case, if it were allowed to proceed,
would deserve mention in one of those
books that seek to prove that the law is
foolish or that America has too many lawyers
with not enough to do," U.S. District Judge
James Robertson said in his written opinion.

The lawsuit didn't even use Obama's legal name
but called him "Barry Soetoro," the name he
went by while attending elementary school in
Indonesia. It's one of many that has been filed
claiming Obama is ineligible to serve as president.

Robertson ordered plaintiff's attorney John
Hemenway of Colorado Springs, Colo., to show
why he hasn't violated court rules barring frivolous
and harassing cases and shouldn't have to pay
Obama's attorney, Bob Bauer, for his time arguing
that the case should be thrown out.

Would just observe that as long as such as JakeD and the R’s ultra-right wing are seen as representing the Republican Party in general, and as they continually obsess on the utterly trivial, entirely irrelevant, and completely fictional (i.e., the typical JakeD posting), they will continue to lose elections simply through demonstrating a refusal to rationally discuss meaningful issues.

What Kouk and the Wacky Acolytes are doing—through fleeing the field of rational discourse and continuing to press forward their fictional stories—is simply demonstrating the utter incoherence, fearful fanatical craziness, and absolute irrelevance of that tiny intense class of fantasists who find what meaning in life they can, only in attacking what they oppose.

Instead of a baseball, the President should throw out the F22, the B2, and any other expensive but useless project that may the US weaker as a country by making it weaker economically.

The first responsibility of a government is to oprotect the lives of its citizens, but we, the greatest country the world has ever known, have been screwing up, big time.

Every day of every week of every month of every year, more Americans die of heart attacks, strokes, and cancer than died at the world trade center on September 11.

Far more.

Yet we spend almost nothing on Medical Research.

We are at risk of an "Economic Pearl Harbor"

What happens to the US economically if Medev (Putin) puts major funding behind finding a cure for lung cancer.

How does the phrase "Buy our product or you'll die" sound?

Because that's the situation we'd be in.

War is obsolete.

Its those little tiny bugs, your own genes, your bad habits, and not spending money on medical and scientific research that's going to kill you.

I'm glad we threw out the Republicans and finally have a President with balls.

Lets hope he decides to put some money behind going after the biggest killers of American Citizens!!!!

Sure wish the Obama / Muslim trash talk would go away. There are so many important things to disagree with Obama about.
Do you think the GOP is going to seem like they are betting against the American economy, the regular business cycle? They are so against everything the government is doing, when the economy comes back, they are going to be called on it. The economy will come back, and the Dems are going to say the GOP had nothing to do with it.

The continued erosion of our Constitution should be a concern for everyone. The birth certificate on factcheck should be printed and hung in the local bathroom next to the toilet. That is all it is good for.

When did factcheck become the organization that vets candidates for the Democratic Party? The actual birth certificate remains with the State of Hawaii and could be produced if Obama signed a release and paid $12.00.

It is obvious that Obama is trying to hide something. Not sure if it impacts his natural born status or if it just shows that he is a liar. (For example he applied to college as a Muslim, applied for aid as an Indonesian citizen, etc. Things that he did not want to come out before the election.)

Law suits will be filed on this issue as soon as Obama announces his name for candidacy in 2012. Obama may be a one termer over this issue. If he has misrepresented facts and signed declarations under penalty of perjury that he is a natural born citizen in this election much could ride on the disclosure of the information that he seems to be desperately trying to hide including disbarment and voter fraud. If Obama does not run in 2012 it may be the equivilent of taking the Fifth, assuming the information does not come out before then.

Bomer:

So, does that all mean that you are aware that Obama has requested $83.4 billion? Are you of the Sheryl "The best way to solve problems is to not have enemies" Crow School of Political Thought?

Posted by: JakeD | April 10, 2009 7:00 PM

I'm saying we don't need to create more, we need to negotiate and work together. And yes international travel needs to happen no matter what's going on because in the long run going out and telling the middle east that we're not at war with Islam and that we want to support them in useful for all economies. Yes, funding is needed for the current battles because we can't just drop and run, we're too far in. Fighting needs to be brought to a minimum in the long run so that we can move on to bigger and better things

Posted by: Bomer | April 10, 2009 6:57 PM

Or, Ted Kennedy.

Posted by: JakeD | April 10, 2009 6:57 PM

A looser team, let a looser politician throw out the first pitch. Adrian Fenty comes to mind.

TerpGrad:

Technically, Obama is not even "President" if he is not a "natural born" citizen.

Posted by: JakeD | April 10, 2009 6:53 PM

Interesting - The President can host the Phillies at the WH on Tuesday, but can't come to SE on Monday to throw out the ceremomial first pitch - HMMMMMMM... WAIT - Isn't the well publicized easter egg roll at the WH on Monday - guess the prez will be playing with the kiddies on the South Lawn.
At least there won't be the security cluster at the game!!!

Bomer:

I would agree with you IF Iraq / Afghanistan were pointless battles -- they aren't, but all this international travel for Obama, and bringing home Michelle on a separate jet, should not be done during an economic "crisis" -- BTW you are aware that Obama has requested $83.4 billion for said battles, right?

Posted by: JakeD | April 10, 2009 6:46 PM

Yes, the president's trips cost money but it's a heck of a lot better than the funding needed to fight in pointless battles. He's a little busy right now working with the world rather than saying we're America and we're number 1. You know, being a part of a global community instead of an American world

Posted by: Bomer | April 10, 2009 6:33 PM

As a DC resident and Nats fan, this is mildly annoying/insulting if there's not a good reason, but he earned enough goodwill going to the Wiz game and sitting courtside instead of up in box that I guess he's not in the red.

Posted by: 1ofamillion | April 10, 2009 6:31 PM

I guess he doesn't want to risk getting beaned by a couple (thousand) beers! My preference would be a nice "D-Cell"...

All I can say is: Paranoia strikes deep. Into your heart it will creep. It starts when you're always afraid.

It's frightening how far off the deep end so many have fallen.

Posted by: jahgreen | April 10, 2009 6:24 PM

Does anyone else wonder how much all these foreign trips are costing the U.S. taxpayers?

Posted by: JakeD | April 10, 2009 6:17 PM

Why should he stick around for that bunch of losers? Trinidad and Mexico sound much more inviting than a trip to that faux stadium with the Division I team.

Posted by: mortified469 | April 10, 2009 6:16 PM

Why would anyone expect Barry to throw out the pitch at America's game? He is not an American. And calling Biden's effort a pitch is very generous. He was as embarrassing as his lying is.

Posted by: FraudObama | April 10, 2009 6:13 PM

Good. Security would make for a long wait in line, and B.O. isn't worth it.

Posted by: ImpeachObama | April 10, 2009 6:08 PM

More on topic, why did he decline? Did they give any reason?

Posted by: EricS2 | April 10, 2009 6:02 PM

I couldn't care less whether he can throw a baseball or not.

Posted by: JakeD | April 10, 2009 5:53 PM

Hmmm... Maybe the President can't throw a baseball and all this foreign travel is just a convenient excuse to avoid public embarrassment. Now, that'd be a story...

Posted by: sideStep | April 10, 2009 5:51 PM

Gosh, guys, if you are so upset about the mere possibility, then consider mine a HYPOTHETICAL question. There can be no legitimate argument that Obama is not legally President of the United States IF he is not a "natural born" (I'm not referring to conception or test-tube babies) citizen.

Posted by: JakeD | April 10, 2009 5:46 PM

I guess any article on Obama is like fly paper. Simply post one and it brings in the dumas flies from all around.

Posted by: waxtraxs | April 10, 2009 5:44 PM

Wouldn't the Nats put up a hoop for him? Aawwwwww - - poor little BarryHussein.

"I know for a FACT obama's time would be better spent with a parrot, a peg leg, a plastic sword & pistol and an eye patch apologizing to the pirates of Somalia while Hillary laughs in the back ground. Can we get this illegal alien on Marine One and get him there before it's too late. Hell when he is finishing bowing and doing curtsies there he can go to the mainland and do some more apologizing there hey maybe they will let him become an honorary drug"

--- yes folks, this guy's vote counts just as much as yours or mine. Wow.

Posted by: ReginaldSmash | April 10, 2009 5:36 PM

JakeD has been criticizing Obama ever since the primaries last year. Nothing has changed.

Posted by: andrewgerst@hotmail.com | April 10, 2009 5:16 PM

JakeD, you're still going on about this? Honolulu is a part of the US and the official original birth certificate has been shown. Do you have to physically hold it Jake to believe it? If we all had that option birth certificates would be lost passing all around the US and then there would be complaints that his certificate doesn't exist anymore. I like the Honolulu advertiser's quote, Nov. 1 2008: "This has gotten ridiculous," state health director Dr. Chiyome Fukino said yesterday. "There are plenty of other, important things to focus on, like the economy, taxes, energy." . . . Will this be enough to quiet the doubters? "I hope so," Fukino said. "We need to get some work done."

Posted by: Bomer | April 10, 2009 5:16 PM

Well i see there are a couple of bleeding hearts here that have not awaken to the who factcheck.org is in bed with. By the way I respect and honor our VETS but you don't have to be a natural born citizen of the United States to be one. If this PHONY Pres. will produce an original verifiable certificate of birth and release his college papers he continues to hide he will be legit until then he nothing but a JOKE. Once again VET I humbly thank you for your service to our country.

I thought this article was about Obama firing all the CEO's of the big banks. I guess the Washington Post got side tracked. ?

Posted by: gatorsn09 | April 10, 2009 5:02 PM

With George Bush, the Condom broke. Obama's parents never had that problem, he was wanted & loved.

Posted by: gatorsn09 | April 10, 2009 5:00 PM

Technically, JakeD if you do not know that the President is a "natural born" citizen you are a "natural born" idiot - check out Factcheck.org and look at the birth certificate...that is if you can 'naturally born' read it...

Posted by: teammugs | April 10, 2009 4:55 PM

What does baseball have to do with this so called natural born stuff. I was not born here but I am a veteran who volunteered for the draft and served in a hostile enviornment in Europe. JakeD, where and when did you serve? So cut out the nonsense.

Posted by: truth1 | April 10, 2009 4:54 PM

Wow, I didn't realize he was a test-tube baby.
