Obama Teases Press: Dog's Arrival Is 'Top Secret'

By Garance Franke-Ruta
Following President Obama's statement on the economy today, the big issues gave way to a small story whose reassuring mundanity in these turbulent times has made it loom ever larger.

"When is the dog coming?" a reporter called out to Obama, who had finished his formal remarks.

"Oh, man, now, that's top secret," the president teased the press, according to the White House transcript of the exchange, generating laughter. "That's top secret."

"Exactly!" said a reporter.

"Oh, no, no, this is tightening up. Any of you going to be at the Easter Egg Roll?" asked the president.

"Oh, yes," came the reply.

"That's big," Obama said, again provoking laughter. "That's big. So we look forward to seeing you on Monday. Thanks, guys."

A pure bred puppymill dog??? That is so lame! And then they are giving a donation to the Washington Humane Society which is a rotten place. Plus, it's like leaving cab fare for your date on the nightstand. Just disrespectful. "You all are gonna die, but here's some biscuits for ya"

And then he insults the entire state of Hawai`i by putting a lei on him while dissing the 100,000 plus animals brutally killed each year in the state.

Lame, lame, lame, and very disappointing.

No chance of a pound dog being ressurrected from the dead this Easter by the Obamas.

At least they made Joe Biden happy. After dissing the name Frank - which is Joe's brother's name, they named this one Bo. Biden's kid's name is Beau.

After the last 8 years of disastrous dog-dom by Barney, I have hope that a new Obama puppy will bring the canine change he promised during the election.

I just hope it isn't a pit bull.

Picking the First Dog of the US (fdotus.com) is a weighty matter. God bless our Commander in Chief for finding the time to focus on this critical issue.

I think we have already seen the First Dog! My theory is that Cappy Kennedy is the Obamas' new pup. Read my investigative report here...http://dreamdogsart.typepad.com/the_obamas_dog/2009/04/is-this-the-obamas-new-dog.html

Would love to hear any thoughts or tips. Thanks!

Sure he did. Barney and Mrs Beasley had a webcam, videos and quite a few press stories.
