Presidential Beefcake -- Haven't We Seen This Before?

Compare and contrast: Washingtonian magazine covers from May 2009, at left, and May 1980.
By Amy Argetsinger and Roxanne Roberts
With their new cover featuring a bare-chested President Obama, Washingtonian editors drew jibes from critics for digitally altering the color of the man's trunks and enhancing his torso's sun-kissed glow -- but also a ton of buzz. Sigh. Not only is it not a new photo of Obama. . . it's not even the first time Washingtonian has teased us with presidential beefcake! Here's the May 1980 cover. (And no, not Ronald Reagan's actual body, but another slick editing job.)
