DSCC Cashing In On Obama

Nothing rakes in cash like the promise of Barack Obama in the flesh. As they say: if you've got it, flaunt it.
That's exactly what the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is doing in its latest online fundraising pitch.
"Meet President Obama! Contribute $5 today and be automatically entered to win!" reads the solicitation e-mailed Wednesday to potential Democratic donors from DSCC executive director J.B. Poersch.
One lucky online donor and his or her guest will win a chance to attend what Poersch describes as a "once-in-a-lifetime" event on June 18, a joint fundraising dinner for the DSCC and its House counterpart, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
"You and a friend could be attending a dinner and having your picture taken with the president!" exclaims Poersch in the missive, adding, "We'll pay for airfare and a hotel. All you'll have to do is decide which friend you would like to bring along and start packing!"
The DCCC sent out a similar fundraising pitch last week, promising an all-expenses paid trip to attend the dinner for one of its lucky donors and a guest -- and highlighting House Speaker Nancy Pelosi as a draw, along with the president. "Would you like to come to Washington, D.C. and spend time with President Obama, Speaker Pelosi and other leaders of the Democratic Party?" the e-mail pitch read.
