Life in Pictures: The Playful President

President Barack Obama "meets" with speechwriter Cody Keenan, who dressed as a pirate for an Oval Office photo taken for use in the President's humorous speech to the White House Correspondents Association dinner May 9, 2009. "But as I said during the campaign, we can't just talk to our friends. As hard as it is, we also have to talk to our enemies, and I've begun to do exactly that," the President said in his speech. The White House continues to reveal a little ankle with official photographer Pete Souza's candid shots of the president and his aides at work and, more notably, at play. The most recent set uploaded on photo-sharing site Flickr has received some notice for a cute shot of the son of a White House staffer rubbing Obama's head because, as the caption noted, "The youngster wanted to see if the President's haircut felt like his own."

Above and below, some other shots of the interstitial moments between the brow-furrowing policy sessions. Captions as written on the White House Flickr site are included, and the full set can be viewed here.
