White House Keeps Eye on Hurricane Bill

By Michael D. Shear
The White House is keeping a careful eye on Hurricane Bill -- and not the one who's married to the Secretary of State.

The second Atlantic hurricane of the season is headed toward the United States, and is expected to head in the direction of Martha's Vineyard this weekend before being pushed out to sea.

That's where Obama is headed, too. The First Family is expected to fly up to the area and then take a helicopter over to the island on Sunday. But Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said those plans may change.

"The president has obviously been getting regular briefings," Gibbs said. "We are obviously watching that.... It's certainly a possibility and we're watching."

Earlier, Gibbs said the president is being briefed about the possible damage that the hurricane could do to other parts of the Eastern seaboard.

"Certainly it's our hope that the storm will avoid reaching the United States and turn back out into the Atlantic. I anticipate, as we've talked about in here, there will be a busy hurricane season and that we'll continue to monitor throughout that time," he said.

Well hopefully God didn't hear what the head of the FBI said about the Scottish government minister of justice or Bill could very well be billing the US. Horror of horrors the Scottish justice minister defferred to God's final judgement in all things and showed compassion as we were all asked to do. I find it bizarre that a so-called Christian nation the US should employ anyone in any position let alone head of the FBI that doesn't believe in God's justice. And God's justice will no doubt include justice for the 290 men women and children shot down on a scheduled flight by the USS Vincennes some six months earlier. The Sottish justice minister was right to defer to God because in Scotland "In God We Trust".

Seriously, though, it costs us taxpayers more than $2 BILLION per year to fly Air Force One all over the world and run the White House -- shouldn't Obama be cutting back on travel during this recession -- you know, leading by example?

Why do we need a bill for a Hurricane, and isn't that the job of congress?
