OAK BLUFFS, Mass. -- On another spectacular day here, the first family hopped on bikes for a beach-side ride in Aquinnah, a town on the southwestern tip of Martha's Vineyard, and a tour of the island's famous lighthouse.

Dressed in a dark shirt, Obama rode ahead of the group, which included Michelle (in an orange tank top), Malia (in a pink capped-sleeve shirt) and Sasha (wearing a bright yellow T-shirt and turquoise shorts) as locals gathered along Lobsterville Road to snap pictures.

Also in tow: Eric Whitaker and his family, Obama's brother-in-law Konrad Ng, and a phalanx of helmetless Secret Service agents -- also on bikes. Sasha had no training wheels, reporters noted, though she and Malia wore helmets, as Massachusetts law requires for those under 16. Michelle Obama also wore a helmet.

Following the bike ride, the entourage made their way to the red brick Aquinnah lighthouse, build in 1799. Cheers went up as the Obamas emerged at the balcony of the lighthouse, the girls jumping up and down as the light flashed behind them.

All I know is the stupid people are out in full force. Don't you have a short yellow bus to catch? Don't forget your helmet and leash we wouldn't want you to get run over by a car.

Maybe he should grow a Bush,if the hair was a little longer maybe you wouldn't notice the ears.My Bad, then he'd be accused of being a Black / White Panther. Maybe 1st Homeboy should've worn the helmet for the picture,a teaching moment. Thank goodness he didn't break any laws:)

U Go PBO

I thought his doctor said he was supposed to keep a helmet on whenever he goes outdoors.

Sure I took a lot of money from the crook but so did a lot of other democrats. C'mon kids, get your bikes out.

LOL @ the helmet remarks. Not one adult in Amsterdam wears on. Grow people, he is an adult.

What, is this the new GOP plank? "Sure he's taller, stronger, smarter, wealthier, kinder, more sophisticated, better married, happier, more knowledgeable, better trained, handsomer, better tempered, more honest, and much more successful than I'll ever be . . . . but he's got big ears!"

You should wrap that in a tortilla and call it a Lame Roll. Sell it at GOP party events, they'll think it tastes better than Palin's toe jam.

I don't know. Babies born in the USA with ears that protrude as much as BO's are ear taped or pinned.

Folks, C'mon!

Seriously!

How can you try to ask O'Bomba to wear a helmet?

Really!

With those ears, not only is there no Helmet large enough;

But he could avoid obstacles by using his Echo-Location alone!

Even with his eyes, ears, and mouth covered!

Posted by: SAINT---The | August 27, 2009 4:28 PM

Mr. President! No! Don'T put on a helmet! That increases the odds!

Posted by: egrib | August 27, 2009 2:43 PM

You're right about the helmet and especially right about W. LOL. Aside from the obvious, being a fantastic President, role model, humanitarian and all around wonderful human being, thank you Mr. President for defining to the World what respectful African American fathers look and behave like. I find it wonderful that America and the world can see that we can be "real world good men" and not just on TV. God Bless you and please keep up the great work. You and your cabinet truly make me proud to be an American. But whewww!!! You all do a lot. Keep it coming.

Mr. President,

Please set a good example for everyone by wearing a helmet when you ride a bicycle.

Thank you.

I never wore a helmet until I had kids--the power of a positive example. I guess when you're the president, do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do actually works.

But we don't want to end up with you in a coma and Joe in charge, so Mr. President: put on your helmet. Dubya even wore one, and his skull is a lot thicker than yours.

OMG! :-O

You mean:

O'Bomba did not load up Air Force 1 to fly to Big Bear California for their ride?!!!!

Posted by: SAINT---The | August 27, 2009 1:52 PM

Mr President,

Please put on the helmet.
