After 200 Days, a Mixed Record for Obama

By Ben Pershing
Barack Obama has now been president for 200 days, which means -- according to CNN, the Republican National Committee and others -- that it's time for an assessment of how he's done so far. (Did you know that "the second 100 days" was important? Apparently it is!)

Obama's average job approval now stands at 53 percent, down roughly 7 points since the 100-day mark. Ratings for his handling of health care are in negative territory, with an average approval of 43 percent and disapproval of 47 percent. The latest unemployment report out this morning is expected to peg the jobless rate at 9.6 percent. The Dow is up nearly 17 percent since Obama was sworn in.

Obama has not signed health-care reform or climate change legislation into law. But he did get his first Supreme Court nominee approved. He withdrew some troops from Iraq and sent more to Afghanistan. He tiptoed around a controversial election in Iran and a coup in Honduras. He unwittingly walked into a big debate about race. Obama's nominees had a few tax-related problems at the start, but his administration has yet to suffer a real scandal.

Only the People dumb enough to elect this guy are still Chugging down enough Kool-Aid to feel they are getting anything other than a collective "BOHICA"!

Escalated War in Afghanistan, no actions taken to stop the financial Garbage that was created in 98/99, no actions taken to get 20 Million Job-Stealing, community destroying Invaders OUT-at a time when Millions of Americans would GLADLY be willing to get ANY Job!, and an ever increasing population of Un-employed...

Simply put:

Worst

President

EVER!

He has presented a larger number of candidates for posts confirmed by the Senate than any other recent president, and a substantial number have been approved.

He has acknowledged that race controversy, and been honest about its parameters. He has visited numerous foreign countries and vastly improved our international standing. He has got the ball rolling on health care reform, despite all the resistance in the industry and Congress.

This is mixed? So, what did you call W's first 200 days?

The President is doing a far better job then anyone else I can think of and with the problems he has had to deal with...rock on...

Republicans, NEO-CON, Social Conservatives, tend to suffer from "SELECTIVE AMNESIA", when it comes to how the Economy Depression started. It's as if they were in a COMA, since 2001. They forget the Quote: "To Thy On self, Be True."
There seem to be a serious "DISCONNECT", in this Country when it comes to Common Sense.

Like two people on a Sinking Boat, One person is trying to Throw water out, to keep it from Sinking(DEMOCRATS).
While the other person is trying to throw water into the Boat, so it will sink faster(Republicans),,,,,
Folks, this ship, The United States of America is Sinking, and we need everyone to SAVE it.

Funny how they loved the government and all it's "controls" when their guy was in, but now that a Dem is in they get all mavericky on us and government is suddenly the problem.

"No one keeps emphasizing the hand this president was dealt."

You mean, besides all the Dems including Obama himself?

CNN and their reporters need go out and find some real news to cover. From their constant focus on the Obama presidency --200 days, since the day, proves without these constant updates on "How he' doing" they would be running cartoons.

For many years I have been voting, cannot remember such a constant 'review' this early in the game. The President is a winning ticket for the guys on the street selling T-shirts and for Wolf and his gang at CNN.

No one keeps emphasizing the hand this president was dealt. Inheriting the worse economic situation one can think of -- since 1939. A mixed record is appropriate for those with an understanding of how government works. Next CNN will grade the President on how well he walks on "Water."

Contemporary journalism... leaves me agreeing-- television has indeed become, a "VAST WAISTE LAND." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drWkn-rtI4w

ceflynline and glclark4750:

I assume you would both give Obama "A+" then, but another thread notes actual grades of "C-" and "D".

Let's see, he hasn't actually lost or given up on any of his programs, he got his girl on the SCOTUS, unemployment numbers were well below the expected 9.6%, fewer jobs lost than expected, shovel ready projects are getting under way.

his low numbers on health care probably contain as many not nearly enough votes as they contain way too much votes, putting him dead in the center.

So at 100 days he is making progress, getting things done, and seeing some positive results.

An EXCELLENT report card after 200 days. By comparison, George was foundering and would have sunk like a stone in September without the help of terrorists in his first administration, and out hellbent for destroying Social security at this point in his second administration.

We got change we could, and can believe in, and he obviously isn't finished yet.

The Republicans are in so much trouble that currently their main efforts are running tea parties, lying about the Health Care bill, and lying about his, Sotomayors, and who knows, maybe Pelosi's, ried's, and Baucus' citizenship.

Their strongest campaign points are flat, proven, lies.

All after only 200 days.

President Obama has a consistent record over 200 days. The only thing 'mixed' is the distortion of pseudo conservative who focus on misdirected anger at anything labeled "United States Government.". .................

Obama Poll Rehabilitation Prescription:

• ACT ON PRINCIPLE, NOT POLITICAL EXPEDIENCY.

• CLEAN HOUSE IN POWERFUL QUARTERS OF THE BUREAUCRACY -- SECURITY DIRECTORATES, THE PENTAGON, INTEL AGENCIES -- WHERE YOUR POLICIES AND PERSONAL STANDING ARE BEING SABOTAGED.

• BAN COVERT USE OF GPS DEVICES AND CELLPHONES TO TRACK, STALK AND HARASS UNJUSTLY 'TARGETED' CITIZENS AND FAMILIES.

• BAN THE USE OF MICROWAVE/LASER RADIATION 'DIRECTED ENERGY WEAPONS' TO DEGRADE THE LIVES OF UNJUSTLY TARGETED AMERICANS.

• RESTORE CIVIL AND HUMAN RIGHTS BY ENDING WARRANTLESS SURVEILLANCE PROGRAMS BEING USED AS A PRETEXT TO HARASS AND CENSOR VIA TELECOMMUNICATIONS.

Now we see what the real Obam/Democrats are. They are NOT our representatives. They were elected to represent ALL of the American people-the Senators are to represent ALL of the people in their districts. Because they can't answer questions about the healthcare trainwreck, they have called in Union and Acorn to attend their meetings and push, shove, and shout down the real constituents within that district. Obama has made it perfectly clear that he is President only to the blindly loyal to him Democrats and the black. What every American should do at income tax time is refuse to file and pay your taxes. We're receiving NO representation-only government by terrorism and thuggery. Noone is represented by this administration.

nwsjnky1:

Perhaps you missed the White House directing town hall Dems to "punch back harder"? Let me guess, you were equally outraged when Operation Pink disrupted everything they could to protest the war?

The president in the minds of some will never do a good job. If he reforms health care, the detractors will say he did over the backs of our children. If the stimulus continues to work, they will say it's socialism. Let's face it, there are a certain number of malcontents, and wackos in our society that we just have to live with. As far as I'm concerned, the MSM gives them too much leaway. Witness how their behavior is justified at the Town Hall meetings. Bad behavior should NEVER be tolerated at these events; under ANY circumstances. These people threaten our time honored belief that we can freely speak at such events and we have the right to be heard. Just think what would happen if those who oppose their views employ the same tactics (sort of fight fire with fire view). NO DON'T THINK OF IT!

Sotomayor confirmed, unemployment rate unexpectedly drops, right-wing health care wackos going too far and alienating law-abiding ordinary citizens…

Things are looking up for the president…
