Obama to Attend November APEC Gathering
By Anne E. Kornblut
President Barack Obama on Thursday formally announced his intentions to attend the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation gathering on Nov. 14-15 in Singapore -- setting off speculation about where else in Asia he will go on his first presidential trip to the region.
Obama "expects to visit other countries in the region" while on the trip, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said, in disclosing the APEC stop.

Thankfully, Rep. Waxman (D-CA) has already provided a helpful guide to evaluate Presidential Travel:

Didn't Obama just get back from Mexico again? Can we afford all of these trips right now?

U.S. taxpayers spend over $2 BILLION per year to run the White House, including Air Force One flights all over the world (when not creating havoc over NYC). Shouldn't Obama make some cuts at home first? The economy is not back yet (consumer confidence is down, slumping sales, and unexpected jump in unemployment claims).
