Teddy Kennedy gets honored. He left an innocent young woman in a car to drown in an accident that he caused by driving off a bridge. Then, instead of screaming or running to local houses to solicit help, he goes back to his hotel room, drinks, showers, drinks, makes phone calls, drinks, puts a brace on his neck and then reports the "incident". Kennedy is unworth of any honor. Poor Mary Jo. Also, when his nephew was involved in the rape incident it was Teddy who had taken him drinking prior. Drink, drink, drink. But, I'll bet he gets the best health care this world has to give. Now he can go to his reward with his medal. Good riddance.

To respond to Hotbubba's comment re socialism:

Socialists nitpick re the alleged misuse of the term “socialist” for one simple reason.

It has proven to be an abject failure in every form it has been tried – both in practice and in American political discussion . A century of failure has demonstrated that socialism can only survive as a leech on capitalism in the form of social democracy. In other words, socialism can only survive so long as it has capitalist’s money to spend on its utopian aspirations.

This fact strikes unquenchable fear deep in the souls of social democrats, forcing them into a need/hate relationship with their capitalist meal ticket - one they cannot afford to risk giving up despite all of their disingenuous railing about evil corporations.

The American left even disavows the more limited and accurate term used by Europeans to describe this relationship, “social democracy”, but whatever you call it, it is always one form or another of socialism. Obama’s socialist ambitions fit this model in every detail, but he and his gutless minions are too cowardly to admit the fact.

What a national disgrace, awarding a medal to Ted Kennedy for killing Mary Jo Kopechne.

Ran away from the accident and didn't report it until the next day even though there was a house 100 yards away. Of course he had no driver's license, paid off the Kopechne family and got little more than a slap on the wrist.

Did I mention that his wife was pregnant at the time!

Barack Obama - repaying Kennedy for his endrosement during primary. Obama has no shame!

Notbubba or Notsmart whoever you are: per the American Heritage Dictionary, Second College Edition, it's spelled correctly.
Thank you.

BTW, I could probably pass for Bubba.

Flinston, at least spell the word correctly before you spout. Some of the rest of you, look up the word "socialism" and then cite where Obama or anyone else with the possible exception of Vermont Senator, Bernie Sanders, has advocated total state control of the production and distribution of everything. Can't find it can you.

You're just as whacko as the nut case carrying a gun in Portsmouth, NH yesterday.

And the Vice Doofus asked, "Hey, what do I get for being a plagiarist?"

ACORN leaders? New Black Panther Party thugs? SEIU hooligans?
Obamaitized Freedom Awards.

"This nation's paragon of moral and ethical virtue."

It's not a morality award.

Attention, morons.

The PMF is awarded for:

"an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavors."

Ted Kennedy is ultimately qualified regardless of any personal tragedy he was involved in. He has always, as a Senator, opposed those who seek to defame America by their treasonous actions. Like BushCo, Cheney, Karl soon-to-be-bending-for-Bubba Rove etc.
If Bill Frist can remain a doctor after what he did to Terri Schavio and her family, Kennedy can get a medal with some dirt in his past too.

And though clearly not perfect, he's definitely more qualified than a PNAC NeoCon traitor like Norman Podhoretz (Bush) who damaged national security, damaged world peace and is "Un-American" in every single sense of the term.

Now stop crying like the Conservanoid Republican Tea Bag Fags that you are.

Ted Kennedy? Are you kidding me? The man is a disgrace to our country: a drunkard, a womanizer, and a murderer. To have aligned himself with a man of such low moral standard speaks volumes about Obama's character. It's absolutely disgusting.

Pardon me, I need to go retch uncontrollably.

Post Obama, this award will have to be called the Medal of Socialism, for which Ted Kennedy's dissolute past provides exemplary qualifications.

Posted by: RUKidding0 | August 12, 2009 10:48 AM | Report abuse

Why would the President give the Medal of Freedom to a despicable man who left a young woman trapped in a car at the bottom of a river and didn't bother to mention it to anyone until the next day? I suspect, if asked, the President would rationalize this the same way he did when asked about his relationship with Bill Ayers, "I was only 8 years old when that happened". Like that changes the horrendous act. It is a shame that the only prerequisite now required to obtain the once prestigious awards, like the Medal of Freedom and the Nobel Peace Prize, is to be an extremely left wing liberal.

Ted Kennedy - "This nation's paragon of moral and ethical virtue."

Washington, D.C. and its elected representatives have long since lost their moral and ethical compasses.

This is very simply just another example of the 'pay to play' scheme that has permeated politics. It stinks as do our elected officials.

As a voting public we 'stink' as well because we continue to send the same nincompoops back year after year with their 'promises' that they will represent us. We are as incompetent as they are.
