Secret Service Probing Facebook Poll on Obama

Updated 8:15 p.m.
On Sunday, a blogger at The Political Carnival noticed a user-generated poll on Facebook that asked, "Should Obama be killed?" The blogger wrote about the poll, then called the Secret Service to alert them to it.

A day later, Facebook has taken down the poll, and the Secret Service is looking into the matter, the Associated Press reports:

The U.S. Secret Service is investigating an online survey that asked whether people thought President Barack Obama should be assassinated, officials said Monday. The choices were: No, Maybe, Yes, and Yes if he cuts my health care.

The poll, posted Saturday on Facebook, was taken off the popular social networking site quickly after company officials were alerted to its existence.

A Facebook official said the question was created not by the company but by an independent person using an add-on application that has been suspended from the site.

"The third-party application that enabled an individual user to create the offensive poll was brought to our attention this morning," said Barry Schnitt, Facebook's spokesman for policy.

Because the application was disabled, the responses to the nonscientific polls are not available.

"We're working with the U.S. Secret Service, but they'll need to provide any details of their investigation," Schnitt said.

"We are aware of [the poll], and we will take the appropriate investigative steps," said Darrin Blackford, a Secret Service spokesman. "We take these things seriously."

UPDATE: The blogger who said she'd alerted the Secret Service to the poll and posts under a pseudonym has posted an update, saying the agency called to thank her for her assistance.

Let us see, janet napolatino calls american veterans a terroist threat.nazi pelosi calls american citizens astroturf, unamerican for disagreeing with the annointed one. the left liberal media for eight years attack a sitting president and use their influence to get a non qualified politician elected who then is tyring to turn the country all the gerat veterans fought for into a socialist country at the objection of the majority.then top it off with all you loud mouthed liberals that think entitlements are your rights and responsiblity to your country is not your problem.geeeeeeeeeeeee!! no wonder there is so much anger at this president but according to you its all about race race race. so instead of calling us conservatives names etc why dont you sponges just shut up.

And if the Secret Service can get its act together, its received a gift-wrapped listing of dangerous folks whom they should be observing.

Of course, it never should have been posted, and you have to wonder how Facebook could have let this go on so long, but it would be some consolation if this flushed out people who present a danger to our country.

I don't understand why the taliban neo-cons are so bent on controlling government when all they ever talk about is how they hate government and do not want government in their lives. Whey on earth are they working for the government is another question? I think the taliban neo-cons would definately benefit from a move to Darfur!

Praising "president" Bush? That speaks volumes regarding your intelligence.

Posted by: moose1063 | September 29, 2009 4:49 PM

As I said, the conservative answer to everything is to kill the bums. I don't remember anyone suggesting that Bush be killed, impeached yes. Obama has done nothing to warrant impeachment except for the whining violent jerks who populate the Republican and conservative ranks. Yes you NRA fry babies could do the whole country a good turn by swallowing the barrels of your own guns and pulling the trigger.

"Should the person who created this poll be:

1. beheaded? ___
2. drawn and quartered? ___
3. thrown into an active volcano? ___
4. torn by wild horses? ___
5. drowned in a North Korean cesspool? ___

People like this threaten our democracy, by trying to nullify the result of an election in which millions of votes were cast. No matter what you think of the president, he was chosen by the majority of the country through their electors. An assassin short-circuits democracy and is a traitor. Anyone who thinks these threats are justified or funny ignores the fact that Congress is already proving an effective check on Obama's tyrannical tendencies, were he to have any (would they had been so vigilant with Bush). There's no need to resort to violence that would throw our democracy out the window and our country into chaos.

Oh, so you DO support "torture" eh? Funny how all these thumbsucking Democrat hypocrites who rail and whine about "torture" in fact DO support and want all those they oppose to be "tortured".

And thus they have no credibility.

The only people the Democrats DON'T want treated roughly are the Islamofacists. Instead they want them coddled, given milk and cookies, a warm blankey and read bedtime stories.

The Democrat Party "Anthem Movie" - "Death of A President".

The Democrats embrace the movie, loved every minute of it, defended it. They were laughing about it all over the net. During the Bush era anything and everything that attacked Bush was held up as "heroic" and admired by the Democrats.

All the millions of Democrats calling for the death of Bush on the nets. Laughing about the "pretzel" incident and bemoaning the fact that he did not die, HA!

The Democrats who have aided and abetted the Islamofacsists for the last 8 years. Encouraging them to fight and kill our troops.

Now suddenly they whine when the same standards are applied to them. Now suddenly they try to act so pious and innocent. BS. You fool no one.

Screw them and the horse they road in on. I love your outrage, it is sweet. You don't know how sweet it is to see you whining about the very same type of thing you reprobates dished out for 8 years. You started this road in America, so right back atcha. Enjoy!

The fact so many republicans are defending a poll on whether the President of the United States should be killed shows their deep level of hatred for America and all it stands for.

Needless to say, each and every person who voted yes on that poll needs to remain in prison for a long, long time. And these extremists who support such despicable acts need to be investigated for what they are: extremists and potential homegrown terrorists (as they are already terrorist supporters).

Get over yourself.

Outrageous! And just as outrageous are some of the posts by people in this forum. They go just as far as they think they can in defence of this defenceless act while attempting to avoid placing themselves in jeopardy with their choice of words. You dance around your obvious hatred. You aid and abet this and all future illegal and immoral acts of this nature. You should be ashamed to even think of yourselves as patriotic citizens of the United States of America.

RE:

Updated 8:15 p.m.
-----------------
COLORS, OPTICS, AND RACISM

What if you were asked to upset all the painfully learned laws of optics? What if you were presented with the hypothesis that white was the absence of all colors, instead of the accumulation of all colors?

Mr. Lucien Bonnet, a Haitian-born Montrealer and a self-made specialist in the field of optics, states with conviction that blackness is an integral part of the light and color process; he has had a lot of trouble getting laboratories to give him exact copies of photos in which the superposition of films (yellow, magenta, gray and cyan) produces a black contour, even though the picture was taken in broad daylight.

Why does Mr. Bonnet keep on insisting on this point? Behind the scenes at the 17th General Assembly of the International Astronomical Union, he kept hammering on that unorthodox theory, which, if it were adopted, would condemn to oblivion a number of authors of physics textbooks.

Mr. Bonnet has written to Professor Carl Sagan, a NASA astrophysicist. He has seen to it that this letter was published and he still believes that the scientific world as a whole — especially the world of optics — is not particularly interested in verifying all hypotheses.

Optics, he writes, “is the exclusive preserve of the scientific world, that beloved field whose seemingly complicated and dangerous approaches are actually transparently obvious.”

We may easily guess that, through his research, Mr. Bonnet is trying to set right people’s perspectives, to get to the very bottom of anti-Black racism. He says, “The bottom of things is veiled by ways of thinking” and “Sometimes, facts are so obvious that they “hit you in the eye” but, like ostriches, people bury their heads in the sand.”

Will Mr. Bonnet’s persistence overcome what he calls “aberrant scientific taboos”? He is, of course, aware of Asimov’s work on Black Holes. Professor Sagan had already let it be known, in everyday language, that scientists had felt depressed when they found out that the lunar sky was black… So they had better base their work on Mars with its pink sky!

“Thinkers like Jacquard may praise differences, but the impact of such statements does not succeed in shaking the scientific and industrial establishment — who can measure the true influence of Kodak? — which is quite comfortable in its Newtonian strait jacket,” says Mr. Bonnet. However, he pays tribute to the researcher’s mentality of his former teachers, the Fathers of the Holy Ghost, who did not hesitate to give him high marks, even though his work ran counter to the official teachings.

By necessity 49% of the peoples IQ is below average. I just can't figure how they find there way into these blogs.

I read someone say impeach Bush/Cheney, and someone else post impeach Obama.

This is an Alice in wonderland world where words mean what they think they mean, nothing more nothing less.

You have me convinced one should pass a civics test before they vote or be allowed to post on the Internet.

I can not believe there are so many stupid people out there with the balls to show how stupid they are.

The problem is you people are to stupid to even know you are stupid.

Posted by: ORNOT | September 29, 2009 10:57 AM

Posted by: Texan2007 | September 29, 2009 10:57 AM

Disgusting! The time is long overdue for leaders of the Republican Party to make a statement against the right-wing extremists . . . Limbaugh, Beck, etc. . . . spewing their message of hate. If the moderates don't make a stand, I may never vote for another Republican.

Posted by: EddieV | September 29, 2009 10:46 AM

sukomina you are a waste of space...you mean if President Obama was not so black that he would not be getting these threats...and I guess in you warped mind 10 years would give this country enough time to warm up to the thought of having a black president...not likely...this country will always have a small minority of violent racists that have enough power and people that sympathize with their cause in high offices to continue to spew their venom and wreck havoc on the rest of the country via the media, teabaggers, skin heads, militia types, treasoners, malcontents and the like, your ilk will lose in the end. The good guys all ways win.

Posted by: kathrynne | September 29, 2009 7:57 AM

My Response - LMAO
It is only a race issue because people like YOU perpetuate it. I was strictly talking about his policies and experience with the government. But YOU automatically assume I was talking about his race. Wake up honey. I ignore race because it doesn't make a person. What I don't agree with is his lavish spending, his health care reform that will ruin care for the elderly, and the 6 percent of the economy the government now owns because of his unnecessary lobbist bail outs. THAT is why he is 10 years to early.

Here here! Even at their worst, my radical-protesting-government/business-obstructing-college-anarchist friends never talked about killing Bush! What exactly has Obama done to these nutcases that has their panties in such a bunch? The auto bailouts? Bush would have signed that in a heartbeat. Taxes? Welcome to the 1800's. Tried to get poor people health care? God forbid! There must be a special place in #ell next to Jesus for people who try to help poor and sick people!

Cons.: It's almost October now, Obama ain't done $#!T to you, get over it! Ya'll have 3 years to teach Palin to speak english so she can attempt to revoke poor people's health coverage, and you're gonna need every minute. I suggest you take down your nooses and Obama effigies and get to work.

To those of you who throw around the term assassinate so nonshulontly.Take it from someone who lived through the 60s with the assassinations of JFK,RFK & MLK.
You do not want to live through those times again!
I find the poll & any talk of assassination of our president a foolish & despicable act & should be dealt with very seriously.(If they were dealt with more seriously in the 60s this would be a much grater country)
Whoever posted this poll is a lowlife & truely unamerican & does not reflect the true fellings of most conservatives.

F those in this nation who want to rule and oppress us. May they all swing on the gallows for their treason.

Posted by: Terrorfied | September 29, 2009 9:31 AM

So it's ok to make a movie about killing president Bush but it's not ok to post a poll about Obama - maybe the poll creator should have made a sequel of Death of a President since that seems to be acceptable. Are we going to start a witch hunt and in prison anyone that speaks ill of Obama or in this case, asks a question for others to answer. What will be the punishment for a crime of speaking your mind now that Obama is president? So much for free speach, it just got thrown out the window when Obama was elected. Had I seen tha poll, I would have voted no, no president should ever be assassinated - period - that's not how our republic works and should never be considered. But should it be illegal to ask that question? No because by asking the question you start a conversation about why that should never be considered as an option so that those that think about it will wake up and realize that making movies about killing any president is treason, just as much as plotting against any president even if you don't like them.

Posted by: Jeemor | September 29, 2009 9:20 AM

i wonder if they would open an investigation and go after the evil traitors and etc. if the facebook poll had been "should president obama be impeached?"

I am amazed, saddened, and sickened by the hatred and prejudice of these comments...
As a child of the 50's... never could I have imagined that the topic of "killing" the President of the United States, would one day be placed for public debate.
How very sad that here in America, where the once considered "great values" to live by, such as:
Respect for the office of the presidency ~and~ Lending a helping hand to those in need of food, shelter and medical attention... have been eliminated by the "conservative" right as "good things" and have been replaced by taunts of bigotry, assasination, state's secession, and the wielding of assualt weaponary...
As I said above...
I am amazed, saddened, and sickened by the hatred and prejudice of these comments...

I am not exactly hoping the person who published the poll should lose his job/health insurance -- but that would probably help him to understand the millions of people who are in such a situation. Mr. Obama is on the right track with his health care reform, because this nation is at a level of a developing country when it comes to healthcare (and a few other issues.)
I also agree with the person who considers this poll a call to lynching Mr. Obama.

"Nobody"? LOL. Liar.

"Death of A President".

The millions of rants by Libtard Cult of Obama drones on the net calling for the death of Bush.

All the signs from Leftist protesters calling for killing Bush.

So if all that bad karma from the Left comes back to bite them - then hey, karma is karma. Don't screw with karma baby...

Yeah, dig it man. Goes around comes around, Lefty's, and the proof of all that karma returning to you is all around you!

The world is NOT a one-way street. You don't get to champion movies about assassinating Bush and then also get to whine about it when some of that gets dished right back atcha.

And we love that you hate it - since you started it.

The Democrats freakin' LOVED their iconic "Hate Bush" movie "Death of A President".

Oh you can whine about it, and we'll only mock you and relish in your whines. And taunt you some more.

Screw you people. We'll see your degrading of the political discourse over the last 8 years and raise you another 100%. We can play this silly game. Don't think you are the only ones who can apply your hero Alinsky.

Regarding the rants from the right about investigations for threats against Republicans: An associate who had a LOCAL free rag printed a political cartoon showing President Reagan with a target imprinted over his face, and the words "Ronald Ray-Gun Zaaap!". Not only was his paper shut down, he and a lot of his friends received visits from the Secret Service. In other words - ALL PRESIDENTS DESERVE THE RESPECT DUE THE OFFICE! Regardless what one thinks of their politics!!! It is only with our current president that people have decided the office of president no longer deserves respect. And this is after all these folks were in perfect accord with Mr Cheney's attempt to create an imperial presidency and rebalance our government. Apparently it was more than okay for Mr Bush to have absolute power, but not okay for Mr Obama to have the power invested to the office by our Constitution. But it all has nothing whatever to do with race...

I do not remember any incidents like this one on Facebook occurring even at the low-point of former Prez Bush's popularity (and it got a LOT lower than Prez Obama's current popularity).

If this same death threat scenario occurred a year ago (when Bush was Prez), I am certain that the Secret Service would investigate. The American people pay employ the to perform this job no matter who lives in the White House....regardless of our personal feelings about them.

I am confident that this will be a successful investigation and have seen much more challenging mysteries solved. Though no one was hurt, someone must be accountable to any serious threat.

Liberals = bigots and ultimate hypocrites.

sukomina you are a waste of space...you mean if President Obama was not so black that he would not be getting these threats...and I guess in you warped mind 10 years would give this country enough time to warm up to the thought of having a black president...not likely...this country will always have a small minority of violent racists that have enough power and people that sympathize with their cause in high offices to continue to spew their venom and wreck havoc on the rest of the country via the media, teabaggers, skin heads, militia types, treasoners, malcontents and the like, your ilk will lose in the end. The good guys all ways win.

I don't support or condone any threats of violence against anyone, Obama, Bush, or you.

I see the Obama and Bush protests, threats, etc. exactly the same; however, I don't remember ever hearing about Bush protesters presenting any kind of real danger, despite the wildly violent rhetoric. It was so common, so frequent, and so graphic, that most Americans I think were desensitized to it.

Those that feel that because Bush was threatened that it is ok to threaten Pres. Obama?! Wtf is your point, please?! Sorry but the Bush regime did not get threats in its first year of Presidency and even if it did two wrongs do not make a right. The idiot that made that film against Bush was not American. Bush was hated more outside of the country then within, and still is. Had there been no 9/11 and fabricated war Bush would have never been re-elected. Mission Accomplished indeed...and how many bodies later? That is his legacy. He has more blood on his hands than any US President since Nixon. I hope that anonymous postings will be outlawed and all will have to put there true identities when posting comments for the authorities to track them and hopefully this will deter the scum that are behind stuff like this. The internet can no longer be used to breed these socio/psychopaths.

SIGH Maybe if he was a better president people wouldn't talk about killing him. I wouldn't personally like to see him dead but he is 10 years to early for this job.

February 7, 2001: While President George W. Bush was occupied in the White House Residence, Washington, DC, Robert Pickett, standing outside the perimeter fence, discharged a number of shots from a weapon in the direction of the White House.

Nearly every British newspaper on Friday carried photos of the "assassination" of President Bush -- or, rather, the eerily realistic depiction of it from a new documentary-style television film that is causing an uproar in Britain.

The film, "Death of a President," has been alternatively derided as a tasteless publicity grab and defended as a serious look at a plausible event that could have dramatic ramifications for the world.

Man Circulates Fliers Calling For BUSH ASSassination

Posted by: jhimmi | September 29, 2009 7:24 AM

When the President and Mrs Kennedy were flying into Dallas, he said to her "We're heading into nut country now." Dallas had an ad in its newspaper with a black funeral border welcoming him to town. This has come into my mind a lot lately.

Does anyone remember President Bush getting this kind of treatment? No. These righties better have a care. It is not patriots who destroy their country to express their own feelings.

Posted by: Chicago1 | September 29, 2009 7:17 AM

Its a crime to suggest killing the President, even a Democrat. I would think at least the poster of the polls should go to jail, and maybe any one who clicked yes. You are not allowed to call for violence against specific people, or organizations, and this is even more true in the case of the President.
ANYONE who openily does so is a legitimate threat to the Nation.

Posted by: Muddy_Buddy_2000 | September 29, 2009 7:16 AM

This is common. The Secret Service and FBI should go look through the YAHOO finance board messages. They are chock full of Obama haters boldly soliciting assassination, behind the anonymity of their log-ins, and YAHOO does NOTHING about it. Even if you report it to them, they simply remove the message, and allow the poster to continue to post the same messages over and over.

Posted by: gasmonkey | September 29, 2009 7:11 AM

I don't agree with most President Obama's policies, but I would never want to see any president killed.

All ask is people start reading multiple news sources. It became very evident to me that places like CNN and MSNBC didn't cover ACORN. That to me is big sign that some of the networks are slanted.

Posted by: etshea | September 29, 2009 7:07 AM

You can not say "bomb" on a plane, you can not yell "fire" in a crowded theater, and you can not threaten to assassinate or incite others to do so in speech or deed...these are a few examples of speech that is not considered "free speech". These cowardly hate-filled, America hating posters are going to make it so that no one will be able to post anonymously on the web anymore. Idiots! You want your free speech well you arse will have to be accountable for it...no hiding anymore...the waste of space that threatened the president online with the intent to follow thru at the inauguration found out the hard way...the Secret Service is up to the job and these fools will find out it is no game. No warnings, slap'em with a felony and see how that works for them.

Boo frickin' hoo. The Democrats dished out "Kill Bush" by the truck load. They even made a movie about it. Bush took it in stride.

Assassinations and attempted assassinations of presidents over the last 100 years have all been done by LEFTISTS.

Obama is such a panty waisted P-tard.

The Democrats are attempting to equate disagreement with "racism" which is nothing more than a Communist tactic at best. It was entirely predictable. The rat party needs national division to survive.

To hell with them. Time to push back 1000 times as hard.

"OUR country's national crime is lynching. It is not the creature of an hour, the sudden outburst of uncontrolled fury, or the unspeakable brutality of an insane mob. It represents the cool, calculating deliberation of intelligent people who openly avow that there is an "unwritten law" that justifies them in putting human beings to death without complaint under oath, without trial by jury, without opportunity to make defense, and without right of appeal...

"Judge Lynch was original in methods but exceedingly effective in procedure. He made the charge, impaneled the jurors, and directed the execution. When the court adjourned, the prisoner was dead...

"But the spirit of mob procedure seemed to have fastened itself upon the lawless classes, and the grim process that at first was invoked to declare justice was made the excuse to wreak vengeance and cover crime. It next appeared in the South, where centuries of Anglo-Saxon civilization had made effective all the safeguards of court procedure. No emergency called for lynch law. It asserted its sway in defiance of law and in favor of anarchy."

Those words were written by Ida B. Wells in 1900 about the pandemic of Lynching in the South that followed the Civil War. http://courses.washington.edu/spcmu/speeches/idabwells.htm

Today's conservatives are taking their strategy from Judge Lynch's play book, and substituting mob violence for the Rule of Law.

Claims of racism against President Obama are strongly supported by "opinion polls" such as the one on Facebook, and I hope the Secret Service doesn't stop with just a warning. The publishers of this poll have gone beyond the bounds of First Amendment protection, and crossed the line into "clear and present danger."

Prosecute them.

Says these wondrous saviors of all the FB drones, on their blog:

"The hate speech, the threats have gotten completely out of hand. And those who have incited viewers and listeners...are responsible for a good part of this horrific activity."
Oh, COMPLETELY out of hand! Yes! Horrible! This FB poll by some college dweeb, this is just another SIGN!

They go on: "No, it is not "grassroots", not even close. It is a sick, terrifying, dangerous movement toward violence and the worst kind of civil unrest."

Why, what else could it be? Else the accusations and paranoia of these bloggers would be ... utterly nutters!

And these modern Samuel Adamses go on: "The same "party leaders" who get their rocks off by pretending to be macho and exerting their windbaggy, wrongheaded power will one day come to realize that killing is real, not just a word on a Facebook poll."

Huh! Life ISN'T video game! I've learned something here! I wonder if those guys who created that Bush assassination film realized this? No, I think these bloggers must be the first in years to appreciate the difference between irate stooges' antics and reality.

And finally, our heroes state: "Time to tame them. And time to demand that they tame their deranged, diseased herd of blind followers."

Oh, most definitely. I am sooo glad the Internet has rational people like these bloggers around!

"Liberals" do it too, and that we have such succinct labels for generally ambiguous political stances is a cancer upon our country.

The Neoconservative movement (remember them?) took over the leadership of the GOP in 2000, and ever since have been pushing this country hard to the right. Their quest for empire failed under its own weight, but not before their nationalist impulses and politics of fear and divisiveness had galvanized the extremist fringe who bought into their macho b.s.
In 2008, the vast majority of our citizens wisely chose not to follow them any further down their self-destructive path, and again demonstrated to the world how democracy works. But the residue of crazy malcontents remain. They defy, deny, obstruct, and in no way join with their fellow Americans in an effort to move forward. They would rather scream epithets, carry signs, and wave their guns around, convinced that they know better than the millions of their fellow citizens who voted for our President. Egged on by the fear mongers on hate-radio and FOX news, they grumble about wanting "their" country back, and post idiotic calls for violence on social networks. They hold themselves up as "real" Americans, and never give a thought to just how un-American their behavior actually is. Poor misguided fools, they think that if they can foment a rebellion, that THEY will somehow be the ones left standing when the dust settles. How sad.

The Constitution of the United States, Art. III, defines treason against the United States to consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid or comfort. This offence is punished with death. By the same article of the Constitution, no person shall be convicted of treason, unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court.

The legal definition of treason is very narrow. Much more narrow than the accepted definitions of the word as used in the English language.

And OF COURSE I cut and pasted the definition from the dictionary to back up my usage of the term when it is questioned...

It's a rational act, something which you are not capable of TRAITOR.

However threatening some one is a CRIME. Get an education LIB T@RD. It's id10ts like you that make America look bad. Even joking about killing the president, regardless of party, is a felony and should be. Rhandi Rhodes should be locked up for her Fredo statement (I guess that's why she kept bringing up the name, although I was never sure if she was talking about Bush or Alfredo Gonzales). One more time:

1. Presidents are (usually) elected by the majority of voters, through the electors they vote for (an archaic institution that SHOULD be taken out in a boat and thrown over in cement shoes, btw).

2. Therefore, to assassinate a president, sitting or out of office, is to overthrow the will of the people.

3. To support, even in jest, assassinating a president is to support the violent overthrow of our democratic government. No different than a military coup.

4. Anyone who supports the assassination of any president, of any party, is a traitor. Period.

More than an hour before FraudObama posted his smear, the lie that liberals were indifferent to the film "Death of a President" had been thoroughly debunked. So either s/he didn't bother looking through the preceding posts, which makes her/him an irresponsible careless jerk who shoots off his mouth without knowing what s/he's talking about, which makes him a typical Republican dittohead, more to be pitied than anything else.

Or he read the preceding posts and decided to spread lies anyhow, which makes him/her a typical Republican operative, more to be despised.

And the bizarreness of ANY Republican accusing ANYBODY of hypocrisy would be beyond belief -- except that it has been proven over and over again. Think of the denizens of the fundamentalist Republican house of ill repute on C St who scream that OTHER people should resign for cheating on spouses. Think of the regurgitated Newt Gingrich who was pushing for the impeachment of President Clinton at the same time that he was enthusiastically playing more than footsie with a woman who was not his wife. Think of the tens of thousands of dead Americans and dead Iraqis, murdered by a president who knowingly lied us into a war.

Jesus had lots of things to say about hypocrites, FraudObama and cohorts. None of them were very positive.

Of the four U.S. Presidents who have been assassinated, three of them were Republicans. Kennedy was the only Democrat. You'd think a Republican might think twice before advocating assassination of the President, but I doubt they even think once. Remember, when Bill Clinton was President, there was a lapel button going around that said, "Where's Lee Oswald when you really need him?" Cute, huh? The Republicans would say this stuff about ANY Democrat.

.....

Which brings us to ``Death of a President," a new movie about the assassination of George W. Bush.

Written and directed by British filmmaker Gabriel Range, the movie premieres today at the Toronto Film Festival and will air next month on Britain's Channel 4. Shot in the style of a documentary, the movie opens with what looks like actual footage of Bush being gunned down by a sniper as he leaves a Chicago hotel in October 2007. Through the use of digital special effects, the film superimposes the president's face onto the body of the actor playing him, so that the mortally wounded man collapsing on the screen will seem, all too vividly, to be Bush himself.

This is Bush-hatred as a snuff film. The fantasies it feeds are grotesque and obscene; to pander to such fantasies is to rip at boundary-markers that are indispensable to civilized society. That such a movie could not only be made but lionized at an international film festival is a mark not of sophistication, but of a sickness in modern life that should alarm conservatives and liberals alike.

Naturally that's not how the film's promoters see it. Noah Cowan, one of the Toronto festival's codirectors, high-mindedly describes ``Death of a President" as ``a classic cautionary tale." Well, yes, Bush's assassination is ``harrowing," he says, but what the film is really about is ``how the Patriot Act, especially, and how Bush's divisive partisanship and race-baiting has forever altered America."

I can't help wondering, though, whether some of those who see this film will take away rather a different message. John Hinckley, in his derangement, had the idea that shooting the president was the way to impress a movie star. After seeing ``Death of a President," the next Hinckley may get a more grandiose idea: Shooting the president is the way to become a movie star.

Posted by: ChangeWhat | September 28, 2009 7:34 PM

.......

For the more literary Bush-hater, there is ``Checkpoint," a novel by Nicholson Baker in which two characters discuss the wisdom of shooting the president. ``I'm going to kill that bastard," one character fumes. Some Bush-hatred masquerades as art: At Chicago's Columbia College, a curated exhibit included a sheet of mock postage stamps bearing the words ``Patriot Act" and depicting President Bush with a gun to his head. There are even Bush-assassination fashion statements, such as the ``KILL BUSH" T-shirts that were on offer last year at CafePress, an online retailer.

Lurid political libels have a long history in American life. The lies told about John Adams in the campaign of 1800 were vile enough, his wife Abigail lamented, ``to ruin and corrupt the minds and morals of the best people in the world." But has there ever been a president so hated by his enemies that they lusted openly for his death? Or tried to gratify that lust with such political pornography?

As with other kinds of porn, even the most graphic expressions of Bush-hatred tend to jade those who gorge on it, so that they crave ever more explicit material to achieve the same effect.

....

Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh will be defending whoever created this poll (unless they say it's a Democratic ploy). This fits in well with their regular drill, which they've got down cold:

1. Use apocalyptic rhetoric that exacerbates fear, bigotry and extremism among the uneducated and intolerant.
2. Counter any liberal criticism of your inflammatory calls for action by saying they can't take a joke.
3. Keep turning up the heat and act surprised when somebody finally heeds your calls for extreme action.
4. Be sure to maintain you were only speaking figuratively and you are being unfairly blamed when violence occurs.
5. Keep your celebrations behind closed doors.

A new low in Bush-hatred

By Jeff Jacoby, Globe Columnist | September 10, 2006

SIX YEARS into the Bush administration, are there any new lows to which the Bush-haters can sink?

George W. Bush has been smeared by the left with every insult imaginable. He has been called a segregationist who yearns to revive Jim Crow and compared ad nauseam to Adolf Hitler. His detractors have accused him of being financially entwined with Osama bin Laden. Of presiding over an American gulag. Of being a latter-day Mussolini. Howard Dean has proffered the ``interesting theory" that the Saudis tipped off Bush in advance about 9/11. One US senator (Ted Kennedy) has called the war in Iraq a ``fraud" that Bush ``cooked up in Texas" for political gain; another ( Vermont independent James Jeffords) has charged him with planning a war in Iran as a strategy to put his brother in the White House. Cindy Sheehan has called him a ``lying bastard," a ``filth spewer," an ``evil maniac," a ``fuehrer," and a ``terrorist" guilty of ``blatant genocide" -- and been rewarded for her invective with oceans of media attention.

What else can they say about Bush? That they want him killed?

They already say it.

On Air America, talk show host Randi Rhodes recommended doing to Bush what Michael Corleone, in ``The Godfather, Part II," does to his brother. ``Like Fredo," she said, ``somebody ought to take him out fishing and phuw!" -- then imitated the sound of a gunshot. In the Guardian, a leading British daily, columnist Charlie Brooker issued a plea: ``John Wilkes Booth, Lee Harvey Oswald, John Hinckley Jr. -- where are you now that we need you?"

Oh, give me a break ! Yes President Bush faced criticism and people called him names but he was NEVER subjected to the rhetoric, signs, name calling and out an out disrespect that President and Mrs. Obama have faced since Barack Obama was elected President. Even as we watched as he was destroying the country, anytime anyone criticized him they were vilified and called anti American, unpatriotic and so on.

I have never, ever heard of anyone questioning who was going to pay for this or that they way people bi!ch and moan every time the President or First lady decide to do anything. People have complained about the mother in law living in the White House, what school the children go to, playground equipment, a garden on the White House grounds and this is just the minor stuff.

Did we hear anyone complain about the rug in the oval office, the china Laura Bush spent money on and never used? The fact that Bush spent half his time as President on vacation? Hey that was about the time the economy was collapsing. Did anyone complain about Bush taking a farewell tour all around the world his last 6 months in office rather than doing something, anything to clean up his mess?

Use to be people relished the idea of the Olympics. It was a wonderful accomplishment. Patriotic and exciting. Now, the right wing/haters want you to believe because the President and First Lady are going to promote the United States and Chicago the Olympics are some how the worst thing in the world.

This has gone way beyond not liking the Presidents policies and the American people know this. We see exactly what Republicans really stand for and it is not the American people.

Like every other poll, it's all in how you ask the question.

The Secret Service works to tamp down this sort of foolishness in the citizenry, but the real threat isn't from miscreants with Facebook pages.

The closest thing I've seen to an attempt on Obama's life was when Chertoff re-assigned some inaugural security staffers just before the event. Last-minute changes high from above is how a shoot gets made. Once in place, the big man's replacements either help the assassins or even do it themselves. Once the target is killed, then everyone falls in line out of fear and terror.

It's just how it works.

Things go awry in chaos. When the Pentagon burned for a week in the 60s after a passenger plane crashed into the DIA offices, procurement began adding their records to the flames.

For some reason, a lot of people think it's a game. I assure most are not laughing at the death attempts against the President. The fuse for violence is short. The response for an attempt against him may make the 60's look like a Sunday morning picnic. No US President should ever be threatened. The punishment should be immediate imprisonment. As a country we can not go backwards or tolerate any one that more threaten the safety of us all.

I'd pay money to see some of these tough guys like try to tell the secret service that they ought to have their insurance paid up if they come back. Death threats against the president have risen 400% since Obama took office. The left has its own crazy fringe, but it doesn't come close to the levels of violence and aggression and hatred that the right spews every hour of every day.

It's in the nature of the conservative to despise progress. They romanticize violence and make fetish objects out of guns. Is anyone surprised then that right-wingers talk openly about assassinating the president?

Posted by: bc54321 | September 28, 2009 7:02 PM

HOW THE SECRET SERVICE WORKS!

What they do is send out (3)Three wet nosed kids in a nice big black (SUV) with government plates on it.

(1) They want to know if you have any weapons, and you just tell them if you don't have a search warrant, well it's none of your business.

(2) They have a copy in their hands of what you posted they ask you if you posted it, and you say yes, and did they find any threat or was it just a question, [NO], and your problem is what?

(3) A poll, the guy here should have taught it thru and simply asked the question Do You Think the President will be Assissinated Yes, No, Maybe. It is a valid question, historically we are overdue for an assissination. My guess it's some kid taking an introductioy Statistical Analysis Class, and didn't word the question correctly.

The Question was worded incorrectly, but a valid question.

You simply tell the jerk Secret Service unless you have anything to arrest me for or you think you can make a case in court against me, why don't you boys take a flight back to D.C. or get a job.

Then one come over an says Don't Make Us Come Back and you just tell them when you come back make sure your insurance is paid up, when you do, you made your threat and now you got your answer.

The Secret Service are Clowns, who are totally [UNPROFESSIONAL]and are a waste of Tax Payer Money. The (FBI) Federal Bureau of Investigation the best in the business and don't waste time on question, just on real investigations. Not one Secret Service Clown is a pimple on the backside of any (FBI) Agent.

DO YOU THINK THE PRESIDENT WILL BE ASSISSINATED?

(1)Yes

(2)No

(3)Maybe

Answer.(YES) A High probabilty, based upon historical time table between not attempts but of Assissinations.

Republicans and conservatwits are OUTRAGED!!!! because despite all their childish rants and lies, President Obama is just as popular as he was when he WON in a landslide election and is 3x more well liked and respected than ANY Republican.

Ha Ha! Keep up the crazy, Dummmies. You are making fools of yourselves.

The Libs, with their new found civility and sanctimonious crap, certainly were quiet when President Bush was threatened and had movies about his assassination. Libs are such hypocrites. And of course is typical of the Lib, the old tired and tattered Race Card is whipped out or the vilification of FOX News, blah blah blah. What a sorry sappy gaggle of morons Libs are.

Some of the negative comments about Obama recently because, of all things, he is not far left enough (how far left can you go) suggests that maybe they, the Libs, themselves could be the perps here. Get a life.

Let's see the 8 year Bush tally:
Americans lost in terror attacks: approx 3000
Americans killed in Iraq: 4500
Ok, Bush killed more Americans than Osama bin Laden did. He lied to get us into Iraq. His Administration estimated the cost at 50-60 billion. The cost so far approaches 1 TRILLION. He left behind 2 eight year war quagmires.
Any calls for his resignation? nahhhhhhhh

His Administration conducted broad surveillance of Americans--and lied about it.
They assumed the power to detain even American citizens as "enemy combatants' and denied them habeus corpus. They illegally detained thousands of Americans for the crime of being Muslim.
Any calls for resignation? nahhhhhhh

When Bush took office the national debt stood at 5.5 trillion dollars. When he left it was almost 10.7 trillion. Job creation was the worst since those records were kept. The economy was in free fall despite Bush's claims that it was fundamentally sound.
Any calls for his resignation? nahhhhhhh

His administration denied torturing prisoners, lied about when and where it occured, claimed it was effective--wrongly, and used legal justifications that twisted the Constitution into knots.
Any calls for resignation? nahhhhhhhhh

The bottom line is Republicans can't believe they lost the election, have heaped scorn on the guy who did from Day One, and demanded solutions to problems they created and then obstructed any attempt to solve them. They said nothing for 8 years about fiscal responsibility, were a supine rubber stamp in Congress for every Bush policy, did nothing on health care, the environment or the deficit--and now wail in apocalyptic terms about every Obama action. They characterize him as Nazi, Marxist (apparently not realizing those terms are antithetical), Stalinist, socialist, Utopian totalitarian and un American. They encourage the extreme wing of their party and then act as though their words have no consequences, or laughably defend such hate speech.

And you wonder why such a sick poll would be posted? Look no further than the bile and bellowing of the wingnuts and their gasbags Beck, Limbaugh and O'Reilly. A party with leaders like that, and representatives like Bachman and Wilson will take this country over a cliff to regain power. They are a sad, demented lot.

"Social networking" sites like Facebook unfortunately offer all manner of lunatics a forum to espouse their off-the-wall views, and it appears that there's always a certain group of social misfits that jump on board with them.

As much as some would like to believe that this is indicative a "vast right-wing conspiracy" of active or implied violence, I just don't think this is the case.

Individual angry morons appear to be a dime a dozen; Facebook, Twitter and MySpace just give them the avenue to vent.

As my grandfather used to say, believe only half of what you read and disregard the rest as the rants of crazy people.

Posted by: EddietheInfidel | September 28, 2009 6:48 PM

I think the Fairness Doctrine would be awesome, because all of a sudden left wing mouthpieces like the NY Times and the Washington Post would have to give equal face time to conservative positions.

Oh, you only want the Fairness Doctrine for talk radio and other areas dominated by conservatives?

That's convenient.

Posted by: zippyspeed | September 28, 2009 6:46 PM

Just like at all the derisive comments about whether it is appropriate to assassinate the president of the US, currently a Black man.

Go figure that one out.

Many of the commentors appear to love to hate or at least show it in their words. Now these America's true colors are starting to come out, at least the one I grew up with in segregation as a standard of life. Maybe just a minority of the population, but a vociferous, ugly, in your face hatred that is hard to ignore, minority.

I don't understand, why is this not free speech?, All it does is ask an opinion, it's not making any arrangements or even saying it is in favor from what I read.

I am a rabid supporter of Obama and think he is the greatest thing since white bread.

I even like Jewish rye, and Monk bread.

I know some people dislike Obama, some from what I read in the blogs really hate him, some even wish him harm, I would of preferred this poll was allowed to remain and the Secret Service follow the links.

Although I do not see any laws being broken, the people that answered in the positive should be given a call, just to be sure you know and let their friends and neighbors know the Secret Service is looking into them and why.

You know like; "You know redneck chevy does he seem like a violent person to you?
One that may do harm to the President of the U.S.

Do you know he owns a lot of guns, and does that worry you?

Questions like that to the people he knows.

You see I believe free speech that promotes hate and fear of the President of the US should have personal costs of exposure to everybody they know.

Nothing like a couple of men in black showing up on a neighbor doorstep to stir things up.

The point is, what has happened to our United States of America? I have never before witnessed such hate, anger and disrespect not only for our president but
for what our country stands for.
We cannot let this radical behavior continue to grow. Neither party should support or incite this irrational behavior.

It was about the assassination of George W. Bush...it came out while he was still in office....it won an award at the Toronto Film Festival.

Democrats were silent on the movie...there was no outrage in the media.
_________________________________________

Like most conservatives on the internet, your phony outrage is without any merits. First of all, the film was a fictitious one that really lacked a political agenda and was actually rather sympathetic to President Bush, and excoriated political violence from the left, the right, and from outside. It wasn't advocating for the assassination of President Bush. As for Democrats and the "MSM" not attacking the film, just try a google search and you'll discover that Hillary Clinton and the usual Democratic suspects condemned the film vociferously (without even having seen the film), as did the usual news anchors. Most US movie theaters refused to show it (again without having bothered to see it). So, sorry, your comparison is absolute rubbish.

This was a British film. There was indeed a lot of fury by people on all parts of the political spectrum. One person listed in Wikipedia, e.g.:

Hillary Clinton, then junior United States Senator from New York, told The Journal News of Rockland, Westchester, and Putnam counties, New York, at the annual New Castle Community Day in Chappaqua: "I think it's despicable. I think it's absolutely outrageous. That anyone would even attempt to profit on such a horrible scenario makes me sick".

This poll goes far beyond a gag or the simple exercise of free speech. (Stomping on the First Amendment -- harassing and jailing people for having anti-W bumper stickers or T-shirts at W events. No surprise by the assasination survey. Beck, Limbaugh, Palin have been whipping up the fanatics, with not so subtle support from Boehmer, Dick Armey, the Joe Wilson types in Congress. The FBI reports an upsurge in right wind militia activity. It was only a matter of time before someone would take a survey. The Secret Service should go to the source and haul Beck and Limbaugh in as accomplaces in inciting threats to the President's life.

"Who can be trusted to make the right decisions?"
President Obama 53%
Congressional Republicans 27%

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/09/28/AR2009092801007_4.html
"More than three out of four believe Republicans have not explained what they would do to improve the system, and while a clear majority believes President Obama has tried to work with the GOP, a clear majority believes the GOP has not done the same with the White House. What's more, 64% believe Republicans are fighting against health care reform for purely political reasons, not because of principle."

'Public Policy Polling offers some general election matchups:

America's right-wing are a bunch of evil, violent, anti-American terrorists.

They are sickening human beings and Americans must remain vigilant against the atrocities they do and will commit when they have power.

They hate this country when they lose an election. Think about that.

Probably a National Socialist Democrat who would want to make a martyr of the Annointed One. Republicans do not need to manifiest themselves behind an assasination. Idiotic National Socialist Democrats will provide the American People a Republican Congress and Senate in 2010 with all the looney BS that has spewed forth since January 20, 2009.

BTW, soon to break story a well known female NBC reporter under a BS name wrote "Bite me Jew boy" Mark Levin has called NBC repeatedly and they refuse to go on air. What cowards.

This story will grow legs. Of course this rag is in bed with NBC as GE owns both.

This is the kind of madness that comes from unfiltered web sites and a time in which hatred and slander passes for commentary.

It is also made more likely by a large part of the population declaring "Government is the problem!" and spewing their hatred toward all who aren't in agreement, both in and out of government.

"Probably a National Socialist Democrat who would want to make a martyr of the Annointed One." This comment is as idiotic as the poll. Whoever put up the poll should be hauled in and held until the Secret Svc is absolutely sure he/she is not a threat to anyone. This kind of stuff isn't republican or democrat, rather, a traitor to the country. Doesn't matter what their politics are.

Posted by: rias2500 | September 28, 2009 4:55 PM

Apparently there are still ignorant people out there who do not know that the term "czar" refers to a king in Russia. These pathetic souls simply assume that it is a reference to "commies" because they get all their "information" from right-wing fanatics. Wake up, people. You are being lied to and used.

Replying to:

What utter crap! It IS one side doing this, ONLY. Or are you seriously claiming that there was a similar survey about killing Pres. Bush? If so, please provide details--but I'm not holding my breath.

You are at least half-right: outrages like this are likely to lead to action. But that's why we must take them seriously and not just dismiss them as nuts or excuse them as exercising their 1st Amendment rights. They are shouting "fire" in a crowded theater.

Posted by: DCSteve1 | September 28, 2009 4:55 PM

I'm sure it was a demoRat that did this as to paint GOP as being gun crazy nuts.

Having said that GOP do love their guns as I do. It's a manly thing, which is why Twinkle Toe DEM males hate guns. Their idea of a gun is a huge government tit to nurse off.

LaRouche Democrats hate Obama as do local friends who are or were crazed Obama fanatics. Now they shake their head and say Obama no way looking shocked as how he turned out. Obama has not enacted one campaign promise yet filled the White House with communist and leftist czars and making USA look weak and ridiculous. Send Obama back to Mombasa, Kenya where he was born.He is a rookie with no political experience which is why he is flailing and so weak and ineffectual.

regarding your comment about the movie showing the assassination of george w. bush...that movie was made by a british director and made it to about 150 theaters TOTAL in the US...it grossed under a $1 million...
it wasn't embraced by the leaders of the Democratic party the way Republican leaders embrace this vitriol and hatred...

Commentary and polls such as this are NOT singularly the tactics of Republicans.....its the fear mongering of radical conservatives....conservatives that fear change....conservatives that cannot comprehend a good future unless it has THEM in control of it, forcing their civics, religion, sobriety, patriotism, ethics and social agendas off on EVERYONE ELSE....for conservatives of both parties (but in particular, the Republican party), the status quo has served them VERY well....look at your conservative neighbors....how many of them fit nicely into the "Upper Middle Class" and "Wealthy" strata of society....if Obama changes the way that our society functions (healthcare, the interaction of religion, etc) they may not have the wealth or social/political power they currently weld....that scares the be-Jesus outta them (YES, a pun was intended)....because of this fear, they have radicalized the process, calling even the slightest Liberal or Democrat "a Nazi" and taking polls about the possible assassination of Obama....but change and progress must and will come, if the USA is to survive....and conservatives cannot yell it down, they cannot scare it away and they CERTAINLY will not assasinate it.....

"Progress is a nice word. But change is its motivator, and change has it’s enemies" ... President Abraham Lincoln
(and the main enemies of change are usually conservatives .... me)

Posted by: jsabol | September 28, 2009 4:44 PM

Why does it have to be a Republican that put the poll up?

Maybe it was a Blue-dog Democrat.

Maybe it was someone in the Obama administration in an effort toi increase Obama's sinking approval rating.

Maybe it was Osama bin Laden.

Maybe it was the guy who spoofed ACORN.

Posted by: ahashburn | September 28, 2009 4:41 PM

Of course it had to be a Republican. They aren't a very bright group of people anyway.

Posted by: Classic60 | September 28, 2009 4:35 PM

I wouldn't fall off the left side of my chair for someone stupid enough to do this type of thing. In the mean time I do think the SS should investigate and discourage this type of action. Maybe we shouldn't lean to the left or the right . It's a lot easier to maintain your balance if you just sit/stand up straight and pay close attention to the details.

Posted by: ret96 | September 28, 2009 4:33 PM

The only good thing about this is the fact that so many Americans are becoming truly aware of who the Republicans actually are.
By the time the 2010 elections roll around, all America will know that to vote for a Republican is to vote against their own form of government and their own interests.

http://www.examiner.com/x-12513-Christian-Living-Examiner~y2009m9d1-Arizona-pastor-prays-for-President-Obamas-death

I sure hope the Secret Service is monitoring him and his congregation. What a perversion of the 5th commandment! What a travesty of religion!! Jesus would weep.

Absolute Banana republic-like behavior. There are books on the same theme on Bush which get literary reviews. This is non-sense.

Posted by: NoWeCant | September 28, 2009 4:25 PM

LOL at the dorks who are still blaming Bush. When does the President start taking any responsibility? I guess he'll need a 2nd term. I don't really care the country is screwed regardless.

Past are the days of someone working hard to get ahead. SOCIALISM NOW!

Posted by: francisco_11 | September 28, 2009 4:20 PM

Why aren't the CIA and FBI investigating the people who carried signs saying pretty much the same thing in Washington a few weeks ago?

Let's review the hate inspired by the Republican party in just the last few months, not counting the the attemps law enforcement was able to stop.

1.)Crazy man opens fire at Jewish Museum in DC
2.)Census worker lynched in Kentucky with "FED" written on his body.

And now a poll on a national social networking site assessing assassination of the President of the United States...man. WHO wants the Republican's to be in power??? These guys know nothing but hate and fear. If you don't see life their way--what they'll do is insight enough crazy people to the point of murder to create what they need.

The Republican party has become nothing but a common street gang and they don't care who they murder along the way.

Posted by: MPATL | September 28, 2009 4:20 PM

This assasination poll is part and parcel of the wingnut zealotry that has been on display since the election;

Yelling "kill him" at magoo's rallies.
The "real America" spiel that ole' failin' palin used.
Carrying assault rifles at Presidential appearances.

And then, when somebody shoots a Doctor or bombs a clinic, they feign surprise and secretly celebrate.

What a bunch of sickos.

I'm sensing felony charges coming to the idiot who posted the poll and those who responded "Yes." I hope this happens soon.

Posted by: MissRed | September 28, 2009 4:14 PM

I'm actually shocked that the Secret Service bestirred itself to investigate a threat to the president's life.

When Bush was Decider, people were detained for bumper stickers T-shirts and critical remarks about the Vice President. Audiences were so carefully screened for opponents that they were gradually reduced to living-room-sized crowds.

With Obama in the White House, people can show up at presidential appearances with loaded weapons and signs vowing to "water the tree of liberty with the blood of tyrants." If anyone should dare to remove such a threat to our head of state, the infantile Republican whiners would scream about their 2nd Amendment rights.

In the same vein, we're supposed to become hysterically enraged about some inept grassroots organization like Acorn while ignoring tax-supported conspiracies to commit murder by the private Army of Blackwater. Halliburton can literally electrocute our soldiers as they shower and the Republicans couldn't care less. What patriots they are!

THEN we can start cleaning up the right wing unpatriotic people that wish evil on our present Administration. One cannot allow the past errors to go unpunished and then think everything is okay now. Clean up the previous mess first! At all costs, keep our present Administration safe from the right wing and extremist wackos!!

actually the person who created this poll should be killed. Not assassinated, because assassination implies that the person is important. This person is just an idiot.

Posted by: LZ85 | September 28, 2009 4:01 PM

Although I agree it is against the law to make threats against the president, I think this has been blown way out of proportion. If it weren't for the popularity of facebook this wouldn't be nearly the issue it's turned into. However, the person who created this quiz appears to be a bit thick to use the wording he did to try and rally Anti-Obama support.

Posted by: equilox | September 28, 2009 3:58 PM

The RNC is too smart to have this be tracked back to them, but whoever did this is certainly a GOP supporter.

They've has this drill down cold:

Posted by: bpai_99 | September 28, 2009 3:57 PM

Notice to right wingers. We may have all wanted Bush out of office but weren't expecting to assassinate him. But we expect Right Winger and Conservatives to be extreme wacko's. I guess Democracy is only good for the Right Wing when they are in control... Too bad the left wing didn't try and take out Bush years before he destroyed our economy...

Posted by: somewhereoutthere | September 28, 2009 3:56 PM

This is hardly any worse than what passes for commentary on Fox News every day. We are a sick country.

Posted by: mitt1968 | September 28, 2009 3:55 PM

Should the person who created this poll be:

1. beheaded? ___
2. drawn and quartered? ___
3. thrown into an active volcano? ___
4. torn by wild horses? ___
5. drowned in a North Korean cesspool?

Posted by: treetopflyer | September 28, 2009 3:53 PM

This goes to show what ugly country we are becoming. The right wing is full of thugs and criminals and they will do anything to make this country ungovernable unless they hold the power. The corporate media is not only a willing participant but is part and parcel of the right wing thugishness.

Posted by: kevin1231 | September 28, 2009 3:51 PM
