Disability, Gay Rights Expert Picked for EEOC

By Garance Franke-Ruta
President Obama announced Monday his intent to nominate Chai R. Feldblum for Commissioner of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

Feldblum, a law professor at Georgetown University Law Center, previously served as legislative counsel to the AIDS Project of the American Civil Liberties Union, where she played a role in the drafting of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.

"She has also worked on advancing lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights" and "been a leading expert on the Employment Nondiscrimination Act," according to a biography released by the White House.

Her degrees are from Harvard Law School and Barnard College, and she went on to clerk for Judge Frank Coffin on the First Circuit Court of Appeals and Supreme Court Justice Harry A. Blackmun.

The EEOC has five commissioners.

I was lucky enough to have Professor Feldblum as a professor in law school. She is a great teacher and a real people person. I know that any organization that she joins will benefit from her presence.

Yes, these are signs of the times. If not juvenile behavior, do expect lies, myths and distortions. You would think that if you had a strong position you'd take the higher road to defend it.

Are these comments really what passes for "discourse" these days? Such juvenile remarks as these would be expected on a playground, not attached to the announcement of a well-educated and non-discriminatory addition to the Obama team.

If you cannot make constructive comments, or form reasoned arguments, please take your statements to another forum. Of course, I guess the one thing these comments do is prove the continuing need to protect the LGBT community against such narrow-mindedness.

Deputy Assistant Secretary of Education for the Dept. of Safety and Schools is Kevin Jennings another Obama appointee. He was founder of the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network. He believes the redefinition of the next generation to wards homosexuality requires positive portrayals of homosexuals starting in kindergarten. Jennings is an'in your face' task maker who says !@#$%^ the religious right! Obama is paying back the homosexuals for their support of him during the election!

Over half the signers of the US Declaration of Independence were Christian ministers.
Homosexual rights are simply not addressed in the US Constitution, as the 46 pastors and parsons who were members of the continental congress would not have considered the idea.

Oddly, heterosexual rights are not addressed as Sex was not a subject for public discussion.

:::Reminder to Republicans::: YOU LOST Get over it. We get to select bright, intelligent and diverse persons. Feel free, of course, to continue holding conventions of old white biots and homophobes. Meanwhile, the rest of the country will move on.

Yes! Yes! This is EXACTLY what we need! Experts on trisexual, multisexual and omnisexual matters! We need someone who understands, who knows what it's like to have sex with people of your own gender, and other genders, and mutiples of genders, and species. We need someone who knows the heartbreak of having homosexual and heterosexual and multisexual relations and contracting diseases and feeling stigmatized about it.

Why can't Obama stop snatching defeat from the jaws of victory? Van Jones, a lesbian activist, on and on. Obama, you were elected to bring fairness, end lobbyist control, end the wars, and save the middle class. What did you choose to do? Further entrench Wall Street, diss cops, cater to the most extreme of the Left, and abandon Main Street and the Middle Class. Brilliant move. Simply brilliant.

Why not hire Hugo Chavez and Raul Castro as consultants and don an Afro. God almighty, what is wrong with you, O?
