Obama Hails Renewal of 'American Leadership'

President Obama declared Saturday that his administration has "renewed American leadership" in the world by forging international agreements to reform the global financial system, pursue clean energy, secure loose nuclear weapons and face down the threat of a nuclear Iran.

Speaking in his weekly radio and Internet address after a series of meetings with world leaders at the United Nations and at an international summit in Pittsburgh, Obama reiterated that his offer of "serious, meaningful dialogue" to resolve the Iran nuclear problem remains open.

But with the discovery that Iran was building a secret nuclear facility to enrich uranium, Obama said, "Iran must now cooperate fully" with the International Atomic Energy Agency and take action to demonstrate its claim that its nuclear program is strictly for peaceful purposes.

Obama said the international community is united in its determination that "Iran must pursue a new course or face consequences."

Obama emphasized that the five permanent members of the United States Security Council -- including Russia and China, who in the past have balked at imposing stern sanctions against Iran -- have made it clear that Iran must fulfill its responsibilities.

Russian President Dmitri Medvedev issued a forceful statement after the Security Council's three other permanent members, Great Britain, France and the United States, presented evidence of Iran's efforts to build a secret nuclear facility. But China's reaction was more measured.

In the past China's decision to continue trading with Iran has undermined efforts to impose sanctions against Iran, and it remains to be seen how it will be affected by the latest revelation. Iran is scheduled to meet with the permanent Security Council members and Germany next week in Switzerland to discuss the nuclear program.

"Iran's leaders must now choose," Obama said. "They can live up to their responsibilities and achieve integration with the community of nations. Or they will face increased pressure and isolation, and deny opportunity to their own people."

Obama called the increasingly united front against Iran and action on other issues proof of the effectiveness of his administration's diplomatic efforts.

"My administration has renewed American leadership, and pursued a new era of engagement in which we call upon all nations to live up to their responsibilities," he said. "This week, our engagement produced tangible results in several areas."

Sadly I find some of the statement here against Obama are about as groundless and idiotic as what I hear from the corrupt newly elected head of Iran.

Please ---- there is more to running a nation then starting unwindable wars and giving all our rights over to Wall Street, bankers, and corporations. That is what the Clinton/Bush White Houses did with the blessing of congress.

Is Obama insane or just delusional? Does he truly believe that because he says something, that by speaking a thing it makes it the truth and must be believed? The insulting arrogance of this man is drop-jaw astounding. He and his far left policies only constitute a different direction. The world did not begin with his presidency. President Bush was very well respected by the leaders of the world. The world expected and encouraged the defense of America after an act of war was brought upon us by fanatics. Obama's take on the past is laughable and immature. Watching Obama lead the world's leaders around like school children is not lost on the public or those leaders. They are disgusted and fed up with Obama's dictatorial behavior. He attempts to act like everyone is a guest to his world and must act accordingly and beholdingly to him, their leader. Obama needs to remove his head from his armpit and breath something other than his own person.

Neither the Democrats nor the Republicans can claim to be strict followers of Christianity. Democrats have abortion and gay rights issues. Republicans have their hatred of the poor, sick and imprisoned as well as race and gay rights issues. Both parties like to associate Jesus's name with their wars. But if Jesus came back now, most of the goats would be Republican and most of the Sheep would be Democrats.

"The more highly educated you are, the more progressive you tend to be."

As we've seen time and again, education and intelligence are not necessarily corollary. And the idea that mainstream academia, dominated by liberal ideology, would produce "birds of a feather" is simply not a proof of anything. Ivory towers have a way of sheltering you from the cold realities of the world. Lessons the Presidents are now learning on the job today - and sadly, at our great expense. Iran has already shown the President how incapable and futile articulate speeches are against hard core ideologies that have cultivated a deep seeded hatred for the Jews thousands of years. Sadly, Israel will have to go it alone, and reduce this President to just another critic of this invaluable Middle East ally.

Somehow, I rather of doubt that Jesus is down with the Progressive sacred cows (the 'holy trinity' of liberalism?) of abortion, gay marriage and assisted suicide.

And since the New Testament is really big on leading by example, in order to prove a true and saving faith in Jesus Christ, (ie. I will show you my faith by my good works) your lecture rings pretty disingenuous and hollow.

Obama leadership? Perhaps if the standard is based on the number of guest appearances on television. I'm sure there is no ego involved here, right? Great marketing, which is what got him elected. You have to give him and his handlers credit; using Obama's perceived charisma to their advantage. But where's the substance to his claims? America's problems are worse now than during the Bush II administration that was pretty bad itself. I'm convinced Obama is using "smoke and mirrors" to try to cope with the nation's woes.

Be warned President Barack Hussein Obama is a Marxist Dictator Puppet well manipulated into power by his Elitist friends, Zibigniew Bresinsky, Jay and David Rockerfeller et. all
At the G20 convention in Pittsburgh this past week he and and other Puppets and Elites like Prime Minister Gordon Brown got up and spoke openly about the presence and erection of "The New World Order" and a Central Bank that will dictate to the world!
The whole world has witnessed this battle and forced announcements into our lives on Internationally Televised television, radio and internet! Now watch there will still be naysayers out there trying to tell us that "The New World Order" and Global Elitists are conspiracy theories for tin foil hat wearers!

Well sir, I may be wearing a tin foil hat at New Years, however I am smart enough to know when I've seen a Spade to call it a Spade!
Did you see old Henry Kissinger, well known elitist and bag of wind who helped get thousands of American soldiers killed in Viet Nam through his, Johnson's and Nixon's policies - he was just shaking in excitement of the announcement of a NWO and Central Banking take over! Damn him to hell!

Let me tell you this - these rogues are not so worried about how much bonuses these Banksters are getting on bad banking deals as they are interested in taking everything you hold dear from you: Your God or Faith,Freedom, Wife, Husband, Family, Children, Love, Country, Business, , Income, Savings Account, Pension, Automobile, boat, entertainment, Life fom you and either culling ( killing you ) so that they have more room to do what they want on this earth or at best turn you into their slave to do whatever they order you to do without you having any say or rights about it! eg, hard labor, domestics,be an experiment for their eugenics science or even sex acts! They will rape your daughters, wife, children and kill your sons! Don't believe it? Google John Holdren for example Obama's chief science Czar! I have put this so bluntly so you'll wake up and resist World Government!

If you want continued Wall Street abuses. If you want to continue Bush's mid east wars based on the bible. If you do not want an end in the war between Israel and Palestine, until Palestinians are all dead. Because the bible says there will never be peace in the mid east. Then continue bashing Obama and elect radical extreme right politicians.

Republicans offer nothing to Americans past more war and continued dominance of Wall Street over our lives. We have become the 21st century serfs. Only now we do not have a king, but our leaders are Wall Street who live there in 4 million dollar pent houses.

Time for some leadership- or are the Israelis alone in keeping themselves and us safe? (how long from now will the ayatollahs be testing long range missiles?)

Iran Said to Test Short-Range Missiles

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran test-fired short-range missiles as its elite Revolutionary Guards began war games on Sunday aimed at boosting the Islamic Republic's deterrent capabilities, official media reported.

The missile maneuvers coincide with increased tension in Iran's nuclear dispute with the West, after last week's disclosure by Tehran that it is building a second uranium enrichment plant.

State radio said the Guards on Monday would test-fire the Shahab 3 missile, which Iranian officials say has a range of around 2,000 km, potentially putting Israel and U.S. bases in the Gulf within reach. It has been tested several times before.

Iran's English-language Press TV said two short-range missiles as well as a multiple missile launcher were tested on the exercise's first day

U.S. Job Seekers Exceed Openings by Record Ratio

By PETER S. GOODMAN

Despite signs that the economy has resumed growing, unemployed Americans now confront a job market that is bleaker than ever in the current recession, and employment prospects are still getting worse.

Unemployed Workers Competing for Limited Job Prospects
Job seekers now outnumber openings six to one, the worst ratio since the government began tracking open positions in 2000. According to the Labor Department’s latest numbers, from July, only 2.4 million full-time permanent jobs were open, with 14.5 million people officially unemployed.

It has taken Obama nine months (the time for human gestation) to educate himself on the dangers of Iran. Obama has declared this week, we must "face down the threat of a nuclear Iran."

We have US forces in Afghanistan on the eastern flank of Iran and US forces on Iran's western flank in Iraq. We have them surrounded on two sides. Perhaps this is why Obama is in no hurry to leave either Iraq or Afghanistan.

We have about a year before we are supposed to pull our forces out of Iraq. This gives Obama a window of about a year to decide what to do about Iran.

We have three basic options regarding Iran.

(1) Sometime in the next year, Obama will invade Iran. (2) He will reluctantly decide to use Israel as a proxy to bomb Iran. (3) Obama will wait for Iran to attack us first in NYC and Miami.

Fineline, I agree.
Corporate media keep their audiences by flattering them. Tell them they're wonderful and they'll buy what you're selling. Tell them something they don't already agree with and they'll decide they don't like you and they'll turn you off.

The more highly educated you are, the more progressive you tend to be. Highly educated individuals are less likely to be influenced by advertising, so media seek to flatter a less sophisticated audience with less liberal views.

If you really want to lose your audience, try making them contrite about something, hence Americans become less receptive to admitting fault and react with hostility if the president admits fault on their behalf.

Lest we forget, pride is a sin.

Uh oh! I just lost my conservative audience.

There is nothing questionable about Obama's background unless you consider not having a white father as making you questionable. Or maybe the fact that Obama exposure was to something other than orthodox Christian dogma as opposed to a diversity of points of view and culture makes him questionable.

His predecessor was the one with the questionable history. He has several years in the National Guard in Alabama that is unaccounted for.

American leadership is needed in Afghanistan and Pakistan. The U.S. troops need decisive action from the Commander n Chief. We have a fierce enemy who kills by suicide bombs and engenders hatred against the Western infidels in the name of Islam and their God Allah.

Support our troops by a policy that requires local communities in Afghanistan to fight the enemy within their country and denounce the Islam jihad of the Taliban and al-Qaeda. If the majority of their populations do not fight the enemy of radical Islam militants, then withdraw U.S. troops and stop the billions of U.S. tax dollars going to their government.

Appeal for U.S. support for the war against the enemy. Ask the Muslim in the U.S. of the Islam religious to make a formal declaration against Taliban and al-Qaeda and any other fundamental Islam groups that teach hatred and killing of others. Muslim leaders must make clear that Islam doctrine is not promote community domination of the world.

Obama Hails Renewal of 'American Leadership'

President Obama declared Saturday that his administration has "renewed American leadership" in the world by forging international agreements to reform the global financial system, pursue clean energy, secure loose nuclear weapons and face down the threat of a nuclear Iran...

But with the discovery that Iran was building a secret nuclear facility to enrich uranium, Obama said, "Iran must now cooperate fully" with the International Atomic Energy Agency and take action to demonstrate its claim that its nuclear program is strictly for peaceful purposes...

Come on Americans, come on WaPo, ask the hard questions of ''O'Bama the Apologizer, the Divider, the Unwise'', cover the clear lapses in timelines, rip and tear at this American president and his propogandist declarations.

O'Bama declarations are propogandist fabrications, mis and half truths in every department.

What kind of political party would think that someone with the racist credentials of Joe Wilson should be elevated to the position of their spokesman? Glenn Beck, the Imam of Fox news thinks that God(Rupert Murdoch) is on the side of Wilson and his brand of republicanism. Move over Sarah Palin, Joe Wilson is going to team up with you in 2012.It will be Obama/Biden vs Dumb/Dumber.

Staightline has been snorting too much Glenn Beck. The liberals in the democratic party have been relegated to the back seat. They must now be won back by Obama if he is to get a decent health care bill passed. Liberals have long supported single payer and now they are asked to accept something with not even a public option.

"Excuse me but it sounds like Obama is tooting his own horn. Shouldn't the citizens of the US be hailing "renewal" of leadership. They probably aren't because until Obama was elected and we became a banana republic we were the leader. Now we're just another failing economy with a deteroriating military and an apologetic president with a policy of appeasement.
Mmm Mmm Mm."

Are you actually suggesting that Presidents don't toot their own horns? Or praise their own new approach to leadership? Wasn't the Bush Doctrine all about Bush's courageous and new far-reaching approaching to spreading democracy and freedom around the world? How many times did Bush and top Bush acolytes praise themselves for "finally taking Islamofascism seriously"?

But I suppose we can't bring up Bush because nine months ago is ancient history and for conservatives 2001-2008 never happened.

Obama praises..."Himself", who saw that coming from this embarrassment of a President?

Sorry Obama, that only sells to your dwindling number of Obamatrons that post on the Washington Post.

Obama needs to spend more time out of the country to get a feel for things. Most of the world doesn't want "US leadership", so he needs to stop repeating this. The way US politicians spout this empty mantra makes me think of someone in a neighborhood association who keeps telling everyone else "he's leading", even when they don't want it.

We're just one country on this planet and we have no God-ordained mandate to "lead" everyone else. When is this going to dawn on US politicians? Domestic leadership will suffice.

Iran is close to having nukes because Iran's dictator took advantage of the unelected American dictator's (Bush) disasterous distraction in Iraq, the strain on our military and our budget, as well as the erosion of international support that fraudulently promoted war caused.
Only an idiot would fail to see how the lion's share of the blame rests with the republicans Bush and Eisenhower. (Eisenhower for helping to overthrow the previous Iranian dmocracy for the purpose of stealing their oil).

The sheer volume of blatant daily lying and corruption from Obama and the Dems is just overwhelming.

Americans are totally freaked out by Obama's strange radicalism and the zombie lefts cultish worship of him.

changewhat,
I'm sure in your imagination there are legions of Independents, Conservative Democrats and new Young Voters who now regret their support for Obama. The problem is that no poll out there is picking this up. Obama won with 53% of the vote. His national support according Pollster aggregates is right around 53%. In other words, the people who voted for Obama like him and support him and think he is doing a good job, and the people who voted against him think he is not doing a good job. We are where we were in November 2008. I'm sure there are singular exceptions to this rule here and there but nothing large-scale.

When Bush won re-election in 2004 he garnered 51% of the vote. When his approval rating fell to the mid-30s you could reasonably conclude that large sections of the country both voted for him and came to dislike him. That has not happened with Obama.

It is the pure truth. Day after day, the current president is recovering the confidence of the citizen of the world, spoilt by the absurd and disproportionate politics led to the worst of the ends by Mr. Bush and company, limited. It is encouraging to feel that, in spite of everything and of this whirled crisis that drags all, the government of Obama has the emotional support of the world. Money? Who can support with money if the bank is broken! A phenomenon of this alone calibre can be given when the leader and his country show what of common has the human being, the empathy. The Kennedy was another sample of a good world leadership. Are the wars and everything what there generate those who finish with the tributes of all our ancestors!

If one reads the European press, Germany, France and even the UK are no longer enamored with President Obama. His image in Eastern European Countries is even worse!

At best, Obama is coming across as very naive in foreign policy -- at worse, incompetent!

True -- he received accolades from Gadhafi; from Chavez; and even from Castro, but are these the ones sought??

His judgment is now in serious question regarding Iran. He appears as the five year old kid sneaking in his grandmother's cookie jar, and slips; falls; and breaks the jar, and then blames it on the stool tipping over!

His judgment is now in question on:

*GITMO!

*HEALTH CARE!

*Afghanistan!

*Cap & Trade!

*Stimulus and TARP (they are now looking at bailing out the Post Office and Newspapers -- why don't they go back and bail out the old buggy industry from the horse and buggy days? That might put Detroit back on the map!)

Obama has attempted to be a JACK OF ALL TRADES, and a MASTER OF NONE!!

This will be known as the OBAMA FIRE, READY, AIM GANG FROM CHICAGO!!

There are a lot of Independents, Conservative Dems and Young First Timers that have come out from underneath the Barry spell that now see what those catchy mantras of Hope, Change, Yes We Can blather actually mean. In fact any of those that actually gave any money to the Radical's campaign should demand a refund. He is a huge incredible mistake and they now realize that. Barry's rapid decent is breathtaking, but not surprising. The only ones that are unaware of the error of their ways are the hard core lost cause Cult Members that continue to lie down and say, "Take Me Barry, I Am Yours".

I'm responding to idiotic thugs who say things like "ObamaMessiah" and ObamaChrist" and "ObamaOsama" and "Barack Hussein Obama Mmmm mmm mmm" and people who call Obama a "narcissistic child" and "Obambi." Those are not the words of "critics of the President" - at least not "intelligent" critics of the President. Those are the words of morons who probably never thought twice about Bush's "leadership" and think Obama was not born in America.

Reading the majority of these comments I am horrified at the abysmal ignorance that they display, although it comes as no surprise as I have taught for many years at an international school where we found our U.S. students - and their parents - to be very backward.
At last you have a president who is not an arrogant international thug, who is widely respected around the world, does not prance around arousing hatred, who shows a modicum of intelligence, is trying to clean up the badly tarnished image of the U.S.A., is offering genuine leadership to the nations, shows a true regard for all his citizens. The blind bigotry of his critics does nothing to enhance their public image; it tends to reveal a very primitive national ethos that Obama is attempting to eradicate. Get wise!

I'm quite proud of our country's role at the UN this week. I think Obama's approach of emphasizing collaboration among responsible world leaders to deal with shared threats and problems, such as Iran and the Israeli/Palestinian issue, is proving to be much more effective in getting to workable solutions compared to the go-it-alone approach of the Bush administration. To get effective collaboration among countries with divergent interests, however, requires a skilled leader. Obama appears to be such a one.
