Obama Addresses Democratic Governors' Fundraiser

By Michael A. Fletcher
President Obama told a group of Democratic governors Thursday afternoon that his economic stimulus plan has helped stabilize the national economy and that his plans for health care reform, expanding educational opportunities and investing in clean energy will point the way to a more prosperous future.

Speaking at a Washington fundraiser for the Democratic Governors Association, Obama said that the economy is stronger because of the$787 billion economic stimulus bill.

"We know that the Recovery Act is making a difference," Obama said. "It's made a difference for our families. It's made a difference for our states. It's making a difference for the nation."

The initiatives his administration is now pushing are essential for the nation's future economic competitiveness. Education is the key to high wages and the cutting edge businesses the future, and clean energy will be a major industry in the coming decades. Meanwhile, he said, health care reform is necessary to help both individuals and business now burdened by the cost of coverage.

"We can't afford a health insurance system that hampers America's economy in the 21st century -- we need a health system that unleashes its potential," Obama said. "And that's what reform will help us achieve."

Jobs Report Highlights Uncertainty of U.S. Recovery

By PETER S. GOODMAN
Published: October 2, 2009
"The American economy shed another 263,000 jobs in September and the unemployment rate rose to 9.8 percent, reinforcing a broad assumption that many more months of lean times lie ahead for working people."

Hey Obama supporters- where are all those new "Green Jobs" he told us about at EVERY debate? Anyone installing solar panels out there? Where are the tax incentives, etc? Where are the jobs Obama? 10 months and ticking! Nice job with the Olympics...

STRONG EVIDENCE THAT WARRANTLESS SURVEILLANCE OF U.S. CITIZENS IS A PRETEXT TO HARASS AND CENSOR VIA TELECOMMUNICATIONS

Is Team Obama naive, misinformed, or complicit in the continuing censorship/prior restraint of telecommunications in America?

Or, is a silent coup underway, emboldening government employees and their contractors to ignore direct orders from Washington?

I am very disappointed that the Republicans did not flood this site with complaints about Obama wasting his time talking to the governors when there is so much work to do. They are well trained little pets who only write when the leadership tells them to.
