44: Obama says Asia trip about jobs

By Scott Wilson
President Obama used his weekly radio and Internet address Saturday to draw a line between his recent trip to the economic engines of Asia and job creation at home, calling it a "task I will continue to focus on relentlessly in the weeks and months ahead."

Obama's message, which he recorded before leaving Seoul, South Korea, the last leg of his Asia trip, highlights the mounting political concern in the White House over what so far appears to be a jobless economic recovery.

While expanding for the first time in more than a year, the economy continues to shed jobs, a trend that ranks as the chief worry of the electorate in poll after poll. The national unemployment rate has pushed above 10 percent for the first time in decades.

In his weekly address, Obama said he traveled to Japan, Singapore, China and South Korea "to open a new era of American engagement."

He said he made progress in talks with the leaders of Russia and China in efforts to confront the North Korean and Iranian nuclear programs and developed alternative energy initiatives with China, the world's largest producer of greenhouse gases.

And he noted his remarks to young Chinese men and women at a town hall forum in Shanghai in support of civil freedoms, including the right to access information in a society where the Internet is censored.

"But above all," he said, "I spoke with leaders in every nation I visited about what we can do to sustain this economic recovery and bring back jobs and prosperity for our people."

Obama said economic recovery would depend on U.S. consumers living within their means and a more responsible government fiscal policy. He said "a greater emphasis on exports" would also lead to growth, estimating that a 5 percent increase in exports to Asia Pacific nations would create hundreds of thousands of jobs in the United States.

Those ideas will be among the topics discussed during the "jobs summit" that Obama plans to convene at the White House early next month. While asking for any "demonstrably good idea" to create jobs, Obama warned that the labor market's recovery will be slow.

"There is no forum or policy that can bring [back] all the jobs we've lost overnight," he said. "But even though it will take time, I can promise you this: we are moving in the right direction."

The trip to Asia was about jobs?? This clueless guy must think the millions who stayed home are pretty dumb. Come to think of it - the clueless ones are those who voted for this incompetent man.

China wants the USA to go to her.
She cant attack the USA at the front door, but she might just get a Pearl Harbour through the side door and through much deception.
For over 140 years China has been trying to square things with the anglos for the Opium Wars.
This is what the great military buildup truly is.

Why aren't we focusing on small and middle sized business for job creation?
Much more money is plowed back into the local economy and many more jobs are created. Giant business is only there to make money off of war and take the little people whenever they can.

What a giant steaming heap of manure. Apparently everything President Obama does, from traveling to Asia to picking the Presidential nose, is all about jobs.

We desperately need to tighten the rules under which American jobs are allowed to be sent to India and China. Recently, a California insurance company laid off its entire IT department, hundreds of analysts, technicians, and programmers and shipped the work off to India. And now the state offers those who were laid off "retraining," i.e. basic training in a non-academic subject so the lucky ones can re-enter the work force at the bottom, while the Indian software pirates and their American business-enablers laugh all the way to the bank. It is a bare-faced insult, arrant theft, and an act of treason against the United States.

Some of those laid off had more than 20 years experience in the business and its technology, and they certainly don't need retraining. It turns out what they needed, from the point of view of the company that treacherously robbed them of their livelihoods, was to not earn a decent living. The insurance company brought in the miserable Indian peons who sit "offshore" and work for peanuts while their bosses get dripping-with-ghee fat. So, what now? Retrain the laid-off American workers so they can get lower-paying jobs until the businesses find a way to outsource those too? Perhaps the government should drop the phony pretenses and offer training in jobs such as trash collection and sewer cleaning. That is all that will be left for us after the greedy and rapacious business sharks sell American jobs to the Asian hellholes. Outsourcing is treason, pure and simple, and deserves to be punished accordingly.

As for China, they are experts in unloading poison on America. The rapacious and greedy businesspeople who import the cheap Chinese junk and garbage have flooded the country with toothpaste made with antifreeze, pet food laced with melamine, and contaminated blood thinner and other medicines that kill our people so that the filthy Chinese and the American business-pirates can boost their disgusting profits. And at whose expense? The American people.

I propose to exact a levy on companies that outsource work or buy stuff from anywhere in Asia, a levy equal to any "savings" that may be realized by undercutting American workers. That should put the kibosh on the greedy, unethical companies that are willing to destroy their very own communities for short-term profits. Talk about fouling one's own nest.

Silvermoon1, your criticisms of our national debt could be taken more serious if they weren't so blindly directed to one side. You can disagree with Obama's assessment that short term deficits are necessary to revive the economy; but you can't really deny the facts that the majority of our debt - whether owed to communists or otherwise - was taken out by Reagan, Bush and Bush, under both democratic and republican congresses. There's no way you can lay our country's debt situation solely on "Obama and the left" with any degree of honesty.

Our commanding officers in Afghanistan wait and wait for their orders while their soldiers (our Sons & Daughters) die! Even a moron can flip a coin and make a decision; why can't the "educated" elite find a coin to flip?

Still there are those who think our "leaders" are great!

Tea, anyone?

The first KING of America, and his Queen Pelosi have NO CLUE whatsoever, especially when they do not listen and shrug-off Constitutional questions about the limits to their powers!

This latest trip by the king had NOTHING TO DO WITH JOBS!

It was to suck-up to the communists who now hold most of America's debts! How much more has he promised them while there?

This little king is too busy hiding inside Air Force One trying to make up his mind what to do next. After one YEAR in office, he has yet to DO ANYTHING constructive except collect frequent-flier miles at our additional expense!

We The People are getting really tired of waiting. While the faux queen snears down at the masses from whom her powers come from, we are being choked to death.

Oh, but that's ok...Washington "representatives" by any label stopped listening long ago! This has done on for decades, and has to be addressed.

Tea is for patriots ONLY! Is anybody there? DOES ANYBODY CARE?

Does the President really think this trip is going to create jobs? Like the Democratic Party is going to help him enact health-care reform? President Obama seems to have succumbed to the imperial temptation of believing that just saying something is something, makes it true. This President is looking nakeder and nakeder every day.

This trip wasn't about jobs.

Jobs was just the excuse to justify an all expence paid trip to Asia.

American companies are still exporting American jobs with a business plan where every American job that entails sitting in an office using a computer and telephone will be exported.

So far the only thing the President has done about this is to create the new code phrase “non exportable jobs”.

The one day job summit at the White House will be as effective as the Halloween party at the White House in creating jobs.

If the President is concerned about jobs for Americans perhaps he had better stay at home and figure out how to bring the job home.

Believe the Left/Obama on Global Warming too?

From Yesterday's NY Times-

"In several e-mail exchanges, Kevin Trenberth, a climatologist at the National Center for Atmospheric Research, and other scientists discussed whether a string of recent years of relatively stable temperatures undermined scientific models that predict long-term warming.

“The fact is that we can’t account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can’t,” Dr. Trenberth wrote."

Looks like Al Gore's profits are in jeopardy- no problem for Al: he's already a multimillionaire from this panic.

If Obama was really concerned about creating jobs inside the United States he would push the passage of trade treaties with South Korea and Columbia that have been stuck in the House of Representatives.

Nancy Pelosi has declined to bring these treaties up for passage because their passage would upset several union leaders.

If they passed Caterpiller could hire people in their Peoria, Illinois plant almost immediately.

An enactment of the Pay For Play bill would give over 15 million Americans jobs as Sex Workers. The strongest opposition against its passage comes from older women. They fear it would make them uncompetitive in a youth oriented culture. Sex workers would have to give 10% of their income to Uncle Sam. In return they would be given free health insurance.

In the Soviet Constitution, a major enumerated right, is the right to work.
With the Maoist collar that Obama wore, what a perfect fit. Forget about India. Forget about Taiwan. Forget about Human Rights.
Forget about the security of the U.S. Navy.
It's all about jobs, jobs, jobs.
Remember Obama wore staff court gray while Hu Jintao wore ROYAL red, like of like Tony Rezko.

Mr. President! Going to Asia is going to create jobs for people in the United States. Your going to have to explain that!!! When the world is suffering from job losses. Maybe a lesson could be taken from Brazil . Actions instead of words allowed them to be a gasoline free country.Maybe a lesson can be learned from them. IT TAKE ACTION !!!!! Congress and Wars are the barriers to change in this country. Solve those problems and CHANGE may come.
