After the pardon, Obamas give out turkeys

After very publicly pardoning a pampered turkey earlier in the day, President Obama took part in a decidedly lower-profile turkey and food give-away to some of the District of Columbia's less fortunate residents late Wednesday afternoon.

Obama's family -- Michelle, Sasha and Malia; his mother-in-law, Marian Robinson; and his half-sister, Maya Soetoro-Ng, her husband, Konrad Ng and their two daughters, Suhaila and Savita -- joined him in motorcading up to the U Street neighborhood, where their appearance thrilled workers at Martha's Table, a charity that hosts educational programs and provides food and clothing for low-income youth and families.

The group runs a food pantry, thrift store and teen mentoring program on 14th Street between V and W. It has long been popular with Capitol Hill workers as a place to donate goods and other forms of support. But the Obamas' surprise appearance at the pantry made it "the best Thanksgiving I've ever had," said Jessica Carson, 23, who works with the group's teen program.

The Obama family stood behind long tables handing out foodstuffs and wishing those picking up the groceries a "Happy Thanksgiving," according to a pool report. Michelle Obama handed out fresh vegetables; Sasha, bags of stuffing; Obama, pumpkin pies; and Robinson frozen turkeys. Some of the bags were hand-decorated with paint and glitter by students at the River School in the city; others came from the nearby Whole Foods supermarket.

"It felt like family," said Carson. "One of our teens tried to sneak off without his vegetables, and Obama made sure he got them."

Added her co-worker Ronald Allen, 29, "It's good to see Obama recognizing community work" and drawing his presidential spotlight to "the underbelly of society that doesn't get that attention."

"He was elected on my birthday so I was able to share that with him," Allen said. "He said, 'Well, it was a good day for both of us.' "

Carson had her own star-struck moment. "I met Michelle Obama and I'm an up-and-coming designer and she said she'd wear one of my dresses!" Carson said. "Sasha said she loved my glasses!"

Laura Mickels, 22 and with the youth program, said that individuals from the first lady's office also did a 15-minute workshop with the teens.

"It was awesome," said Allen.

ATTN. MR. PRESIDENT -- America will be truly thankful when you restore the rule of law and stop a silent American genocide by fixing this:

* Thousands of Americans, deemed to be "dissidents" or undesirables, targeted by Bush legacy program for debilitating microwave/laser assault, held hostage in their own homes to fed-supported vigilante "community policing" stalking units, equipped with warrantless GPS devices, who vandalize and terrorize as local police look the other way.

* "Directed energy weapons," portable units and a nationwide installation employing cell towers and satellites, induce weakness, exhaustion, mood changes, head and body aches, physical and neurological impairment, strokes, aneurysms, cancer -- and many victims do not realize what is making them sick.

* Regional Homeland Security- administered "fusion centers" reportedly serve as command centers for covert electromagnetic radiation attacks, pervasive surveillance, financial sabotage of those identified as "dissidents," "trouble-makers" or slandered as threats to society.

* Use of microwave weaponry to torture and impair political opponents recently confirmed by deposed Honduras President Manuel Zelaya.

* Pleas for justice, to local police and FBI, go unanswered -- as do demands for a Department of Justice Civil Rights Division investigation and congressional hearings.

"These are crimes against humanity and the Constitution, being perpetrated under the cover of national security and 'safe streets' by multiple federal and local agencies and commands -- an American genocide hiding in plain sight, enabled by the naivete of those who think 'it can't happen here.'" -- Victor Livingston, former reporter for WTXF-TV Philadelphia, Phila. We notice that neither "The One" nor any of his marxist cabal are serving turkey in Iraq or Afghanistan. It appears that turkeys don't want to turn on their own.

Notice the recipients are welfare-fattened darkie hogs.

It's all reparations by another name, folks.

We're doomed. Arm yourselves and get ready.

Oh please, for just one day give it a break !!!! How about you haters be thankful you live in a country that allows you to disparage our duly elected President and his family simply because you are jealous that he has actually achieved the ultimate American dream.

This is something that the President and his family have been participating and encouraging others to participate in for years. The Obama's are inspiring and awesome. The criticism on everything they do, wear, say, etc. is getting old and tired. I am very proud of the President and his family. However, I realize that some of you just can't believe that the White House now occupies educated, beautiful, loving, down to earth, people of color. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

@n7uno- This is different from the Bush administration? I don't recall seeing lots of "regular" people at those dinners

I tried to find stories where GW Bush and Laura personally feed the hunger. If anyone can provide me that link, I would appreciate it.

It's the community organizer in him and his family. If you look at the other day there were no middle class or even poor at that state dinner. Depends on the type of food I guess. I long for the days of Pres. Jackson. It's getting way too Hollywood all over these days.
