N.Y. police car crashes ahead of Biden
A New York Police Department car was involved in an accident Tuesday during Vice President Biden's visit to New York, according to the U.S. Secret Service. The police car was running ahead of Biden's motorcade, which wasn't affected by the incident, the agency said.
Vehicles linked to Biden have already been involved in two accidents in a week. Last Thursday, two armored Secret Service vehicles struck and killed a man as he was crossing Suitland Parkway in Prince George's County. Biden was in neither vehicle at the time.
And a Albuquerque motorist crashed into a Bernalillo County sheriff's car Monday while it was with Biden's motorcade in that New Mexico city, sending a sheriff's deputy to the hospital.
In Tuesday's incident, police said that three unmarked cars, moving with lights and sirens on, were five to 10 minutes ahead of Biden's motorcade when a livery cab crashed into the middle car around 5:40 p.m.
Three people were taken to a New York hospital with back and neck injuries, the New York Post reported.
The vice president was in New York to appear on Comedy Central's "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart."
