Senate finally ready to move on reform

By Ben Pershing
Two weeks after the House passed its health-care bill and exactly a month after the Senate Finance Committee reported out its version of the measure, the Senate's compromise plan is finally ready for its closeup.

Harry Reid "presented an $848 billion health-care overhaul package on Wednesday that would extend coverage to 31 million Americans and reform insurance practices while adding an array of tax increases, including a rise in payroll taxes for high earners," the Washington Post writes, adding that Democrats were "jubilant" that the measure was projected to cut federal deficits by $130 billion over the next decade. The House and Senate bills "have differences on taxes, abortion coverage and a public-insurance plan and would require considerable work to reconcile," the Wall Street Journal reports. "As with the House bill, the uninsured are likely to be the biggest winners from the Senate bill. It would offer subsidies to help people buy insurance and sharply expand Medicaid, the federal-state health-insurance program for the poor. Losers include the wealthy, who would have to pay higher Medicare payroll taxes, and people with especially generous health-insurance benefits, who would also pay a new tax." The New York Times says "Democrats expressed confidence that they would have the votes needed to move forward when the legislation hits its first test in the Senate, probably later this week."

cwo293, if you want to SPEND money, please SPEND YOUR MONEY! Is someone stopping you?

The rest of us know we are BROKE and don't have money to pay for the Obamacare scam. Obama, his accomplices, and his lemmings like you have NO right to steal from our children and grandchildren to cover your "noble" causes.

Promoting "noble" causes like helping all the poor and providing health care for everyone, the Castro brothers transformed an imperfect but happy and prosperous island into a GULAG of abject misery, where the only hope for most is to be able to escape.

They also infected their Marxist virus to other countries (Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador, Nicaragua...), causing tremendous suffering everywhere.

The Castro brothers have probably caused more suffering than Hitler, and are now working to spread their virus to Honduras (with Obama's support) and to the U.S.

Where will our children and grandchildren be able to escape if Obama succeeds in transforming the U.S. into another Cuba?

The Senate bill is "superior" to the house bill in that it includes more lies, more manipulation and more measures to harm Americans.

Obama and his accomplices are going to "save us money" and "reduce the federal deficit" by forcing us to swallow the Obamacare SCAM just like they are "creating jobs" by destroying businesses and jobs and increasing unemployment.

As part of the Obamacare SCAM, the Senate bill is meant to manipulate us into believing it will help us. All thinking Americans realize, however, that Obamacare has NOTHING to do with helping us or improving anything. It is a criminal scam, a power grab that will destroy our health care, our economy, our freedoms and our country.

In addition, Sen. Reid (D-NV) is stirring up a hornets' nest on abortion:

Sen. Lieberman (I-CT) has already announced he would filibuster any "public option" Obamacare.

It's a solid bill that appears to be getting at least lukewarm support from the key moderates. Big win for Obama and the Dems...

Everybody wants to complain about spending money for the good of the people of this country. How about the billions spent and wasted in Iraq? Also, I don't know of any opponents refusing their Medicare coverage or Social Security checks on principle. Both plans that the Republicans opposed. We live in a selfish society that is focused on ME ME ME.

Reid and his cronies have crafted a bill certain to bankrupt America. Behind closed doors, the liberals scheme to raise taxes, as unemployment continue unabated. Obama and his administration have made it a priority to socialize America.
The 2010 elections will define what America becomes. I know that many liberal incumbents will be looking for jobs in 2010.
America cannot afford obama's socialist agenda.

848 billion expenditure is not the full amount. This bill lack another expenditure of over 200 billion for physician expenditures. See Fox News for the honest story and coverage.

Where does Lieberman stand? He threatened to join the GOP in a filibuster.

I hope that Senator Reid allows sufficient time for the media and the public to reveiw this proposed piece of legislation.

I also hope that it's funding mechanisms do not pass costs off to the States in the forms of mandates and that it does not use the accounting frauds that the politicians in Washington love!

In the end I pray that it does not add to the deficit and the national debt.
