A cost-saving cake for budget chief Peter Orszag's birthday

By Ed O'Keefe
The youngest member of President Obama's Cabinet, Peter R. Orszag, celebrates his 41st birthday on Wednesday.

Senior staffers greeted the director of the Office of Management and Budget early this morning with a birthday cake baked by Zeke Emanuel, an aide said. Emanuel is a top health care policy adviser and brother of the White House chief of staff.

There was no icing on the cake "in the spirit of budget cutting," the aide said. ("Not joking," the aide later confirmed.)

Seven of Obama's Cabinet members are in the 40s, eight are in their 50s and six in their 60s, according to The Washington Post's Head Count. The oldest member is Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric K. Shinseki, 66.
