Obama gets more unwelcome news from Detroit

By Anne E. Kornblut

HONOLULU -- For the second time in three days, President Obama had his vacation interrupted with unwelcome news of a disturbance of a flight landing in Detroit.

White House spokesman Bill Burton said the president was told shortly after 9 a.m. in Hawaii about an "unruly passenger" on board the flight. Denis McDonough, his National Security Council chief of staff, with whom he had been playing basketball less than an hour earlier, told him of the news.

"The president stressed the importance of maintaining heightened security measures for all air travel and gave instructions to set up another secure teleconference briefing as soon as possible," Burton said.

The White House offered no immediate details about the incident.

Since his arrival four days ago, Obama has not made any public comments about the original Detroit incident, on Christmas, or emerged from his vacation home except to go to the gym, play golf and, briefly on Christmas Day, shake hands with military officers.

Electing Obama is the biggest mistake America has ever made. We can correct the situation in 2012, if we survive that long, and can stiffle him in 2010's Congressional elections if we are smart enough to send only Republicans to the House and Senate.

Just get ready America. We are bound for another 911. Who feels save with Obama? The terrorists that's who...No fear, their civil rights will be upheld. This guy is so inexperienced, arrogant, and stupid, he makes me wish Hillary was president!

I usually write off threads that get populated by the likes of cr10 and JCM-51, but I believe they ought to note that the TSA, the department of Homeland Security, the color coded terror leve4l wetc are all bush approaches to trying to seem to do something about security while actually doing nothing. Once Obama gets higher priority problems, like wars and health care under control he can turn his attention to gutting these republican wastes and starting over. We will be a whole lot safer after we have abolished the Department of Homeland Security and the National Intelligence Coordinator, which do absolutely nothing to improve security, just add several layers of over paid political operatives to those departments so that when another George Bush or Dick Cheney want isolation from intelligence reports they don't want to hear for whatever reason they can delegate the fire wall to trusted operatives several layers down the ladder.

But that is for another year, like maybe 2010.

Right now failures in the system must be blamed on the system architects who are,

Bush and Cheney.

Here I thought this would be about the continuous screwing the unions get at the hands of their Democrat masters. Oh well...

Two potential MUSLIM terrorists attacks this week... and the POTUS is still sunning himself on the Beach. Having a luxury vacation at taxpayer expense.

With friends and family vacationing with him. Who picks up the Tab??

Or is this HIDDEN BEHIND closed doors with the taxpayers footing the bill. How much does the security, flight over there cost.

Americans TAKE NOT when he was footing the Bill... he NEVER vacationed in Hi for two weeks when his grandmother or mother was alive.

Also take note that on Sunday...the rented beach was not good enough for him.

The COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF kicked all the MARINES and their families off the Beach so he could have a catered picnic on the BEACH.

No I call that gutless and dishonorable. He comes BEFORE our military.

Change I can do without.

He is a weasel..

dakotahgeo:

What was President Bush supposed to do while in Florida re: attacks in NYC and DC? Welcome to the new reality.

Poor cr10 and JCM-51!!!
Well, here are two posters who didn't get their train and Erector sets for Christmas.
Please think before you post! Just what was
President Obama supposed to do about these incidents which originated outside of the USA?? After the investigations are complete, there would be some loping off of heads of the security personnel who let the first terrorist through and slap across the face to the airline crewperson who got her undies in a wad over a sick passenger (C'mon...where do the airlines get these bimbos today?). All in all, travel will now be more cumbersome for all honest and worthy people who travel into and out of the USA.
Not too smart! And then there's Ivana, who could have flown in her own private jet! Scheeesch!!!

Obama parties it up in the state of his birth, while millions of Americans are suffering with this economy. Enough said.

cr10 says "Obama parties it up in the state of his birth, while millions of Americans are suffering with this economy."

You're talking about the George Bush Republican economy, right? The economy which was devastated by the Republican house and senate under the administration of George Bush? I just want to be sure we're both on the same page, blaming George Bush and the Republican Party for the economy we're currently suffering.

I would say that Obama is handling the incident exactly right. Perfunctory orders to beef up security, but no drama nor hysteria, no casting it against the backdrop of larger issues like the WoT, just calmly engaged and in charge. Prudent and measured, and not once grabbing at a chance to sound tough.

cr10 ought to wait 'til the facts come out. A Nigerian Oil engineer, who had been working in Yemen, got a bad case of diarrhea, locked himself in the john, and became irate and created a disturbance when the flight crew removed him from the restroom on a flight heading for Detroit. The airline was extra sensitive because the previous incident's perpetrator had claimed that more Nigerians, working out of yemen were going to attack flights headed for the U. S.

How the President, taking a Christmas break in Hawaii, could have done anything at all about this is of course one question. Why he couldn't have done whatever he could have done as easily in Hawaii as he could in D.C. is another question. Of course, cr10 is just trying to be mad about Obama's taking a vacation because Democrats regularly pointed out that George did mostly nothing except take vacations. Why the revanchists have to try to accuse Obama of every bit of misconduct George got into, applicable or not, is just another question with no good answer.

Still, he did admit that Hawaii IS the State of Obama's birth, which is an improvement.
