Vacationing president will address attempted terror attack

By Anne E. Kornblut
KAILUA -- President Obama has been virtually invisible for four days since touching down in Hawaii on Christmas Eve, riding in his tinted-glass motorcade to play golf and basketball and take his family to the beach.

But he is likely to emerge in the next few days, a senior administration official said on Sunday. "You will see him out there in the course of the next couple of days," the official said, adding that Obama will address the attempted attack on an airliner as it landed in Detroit on Christmas day.

On Sunday -- a bright, beautiful day with clear blue skies and 80-degree weather -- the president went to the gym before dawn and played basketball with some male friends and staff members.

The Obamas went to the beach for a few hours, having a picnic on a stretch of sand at a Marine Corps base that had been closed down for their visit. None of the activities were open to the press pool traveling with the Obamas, who were barely spotted even through the windows of their vehicles.

All this president really cares about is vacations, protecting his Muslim brothers and shoving a very bad health care plan down our throats. Took him 3 days to make a statement on the Muslim terrorist who tried to blow up an airliner. Now, he gives this terrorist "rights" - he has to be read his Miranda rights and is being treated like a royal, high class prisoner instead of a rotten terrorist who almost killed 300 Americans on a plane and hundreds more in Detroit. Obama is so concerned about his Muslim brothers and his vacations that he has alienated 90% of America. Wake up America. Demand Profiling at all airports. Why should everyone getting on a plane have to be delayed when it is 100% of Muslims who are trying to kill Americans. They are the ones who should be delayed - herd them all into a room and strip search them. If they don't like it, too bad. Why should normal people have to take off their shoes, refrain from using the bathroom the last hour of a flight, no carry on luggage. Why are we suffering for the sake of the lousey Muslims who are the cause of all terrorism.

I am so glad President Obama is working so hard even during his much deserved Hawaii vacation. I feel much safer now knowing that our President is hard at work keeping us safe and happy and that he will not rest until all the suspects in this terror plot are found. He is a shining beacon of hope in all these terror problems that Bush created. Bush ruled through fear and Obama rules through peace. The world needs time to recover from all the terror Bush created. Compared to Bush, the poor Nigerian who allegedly tried to bomb the jet is a saint. Bush is the worst terrorist ever. Obama loves freedom and he is working hard to create world peace. Keep up the good work, President Obama. PS - it's okay if you take a nap on your vacation. Happy New Year. :)

These right-wing hisses and goofy statements sound especially crazy given the attack never materialized. He has a few days of R & R coming, too, given he's been working 24/7 on the biggest mess left to a new administration in history. Lieberman's solution is to do more Bush style "pre-empting" in Yemen. Good grief, the right-wing citizenry and their "leaders" have really flipped.

"We will not rest until we find all who were involved and hold them accountable" ... now watch this drive.

How about Obama take an hour and go to the health department and pay $12.00 and get a copy of his long form birth certificate?

After 3:00 pm ET (more than THREE DAYS later), Obama will address the public on the attempted terrorist attack on Christmas Day. He will describe the immediate steps the government has taken to ensure the safety of the traveling public. He will detail the two reviews that he has ordered on the watch-list and on our detection capabilities because he believes it is critical we learn from this incident and take the necessary measures to prevent future acts of terrorism. He will also reference the fact that we need to keep up the pressure on those who would attack our country.

LOL!!!

Perhaps someone from your side of the aisle could answer TruData's questions now:

1) How do you like what they've done with the economy so far?

2) Why do you think they'll do better with health care and national security?

On November 16, 2006, Pelosi was unanimously chosen as the Democratic candidate for Speaker, effectively making her Speaker-elect (not officially formalized until January 3, 2007). That's close enough to "three years" for me.

Just because they don't have "control" of their own caucus on every issue doesn't mean that Pelosi hasn't been Speaker and Reid hasn't been Majority Leader.

"Democrats have had complete control of Congress for the last three years..."

They have? Recall the senate was a tie and the GOP filibustered a record number of times and you say "Democrats have had complete control of Congress"!!

This assumes that "President" Obama was even born in Hawaii.

What is there to address? The "system worked".

I like Obama being invisible. It is a great improvement if you ask me. Besides, how is he going to criticize a fellow African, muslim that also hates the USA? That takes some planning so as not to blow your cover when you are working for both sides.

Apparently it's the GOP's turn to "embolden our enemies" by openly challenging the national security policies of a sitting administration.

I wish I could say too little too late but that would be incorrect. It has been nothing way too late. Weak at best! This terrorist attack and make no mistake was a terrorist attack needs to be addressed by this administration in an urgent and meaningful way! For Napolitano to come out and say "the system worked" is outrageous! They system failed miserably, if it had worked this terrorist would never have gotten on the airplane. This administration has take a Harry Potter approach to terror, it is he "who cannot be named". If we don't say his name maybe he will go away! This is foolish, childlike and the response has been an abject failure!!

What? Is the President waiting for someome to type it into the telepromter(?)

What's he waiting for?

Perhaps he's trying to pick out beers for the next beer-fest.....

...an there's a limited amount of choices on the beaches of Hawaii....

Thank God, a president that is not just going in front of the cameras to tell us to be afraid. We all know that since Sept. 11 we need to be vigilant and that the government cannot protect us at all times. Its called taking repsonsibility, which is what the passengers on the Detroit flight did. Plenty of yapping will go on in the next few days but the president cannot give us an insurance policy that states we are protected at all times from AQ or anything else. It is best to wait until we have some facts and not simply emotional, knee-jerk responses. I, for one, am pleased by the tempered reaction of the government this far.

Hey arioch666 you sound like some thick-witted racist cracker. Why don't you trot out the bowing and apology stuff while you're at it, and don't forget to sneer about teleprompters and Rev. Wright.

Election's over, Cletus, and your side lost.

"...he is likely to emerge in the next few days..."

When it come to his altruistic agenda (and ego), he busts his nuts to be at the forefront (UN address & Copenhagen).

But when it comes to our security and protection...he'll get to it...whenever (as in, 'talk to the hand'). The pattern is always the same. Whether it's the opportunity to confront Iran in the security council with allies at our side, Ft. Hood, or the 'underwear bomber',...we're always 2nd banana to political correctness.

When he does find the time to 'shout out to his peeps', and oh, say anything about the issue...we'll be told once again, 'not to jump to conclusions'....
