As health summit nears, more guests, more mishigas

The haggling over Thursday's health-care summit continues.
After House and Senate leaders in both parties settled on who will attend the event at Blair House, the White House said President Obama had added two more to the guest list: Sens. Olympia J. Snowe (R-Maine) and Ron Wyden (D-Ore.).
Obama had already told both senators that they could attend any future health meetings, a White House official said. It was not, the official said, an attempt to sneak in new attendees. Snowe declined the offer. But Wyden accepted.
Now Republicans have another slot to fill -- adding to the ongoing mishigas surrounding the live, televised event.
The original dispute arose over another key issue: Should the table be U-shaped table or a round?

Republicans don;t want to hand the president and Democrats a final victory on their signature legislation, so they will make very little effort tomorrow or any day to cooperate on any bill, even if it is the GOP's "plan" (whatever that is) word for word.
