Dick Cheney hospitalized with chest pains

Updated 8:35 p.m.
Former vice president Richard B. Cheney was hospitalized Monday at George Washington University Hospital after suffering from chest pains, his office said.

"His doctors are evaluating the situation and he is resting comfortably," Cheney's office said in a statement.

NBC News reported that Cheney, 69, underwent an angiogram -- a procedure allowing doctors to examine blood flow in an artery. Doctors described his condition to the network as stable.

Cheney may have additional treatment Tuesday. "We don't know what the plan is," one physician told NBC News.

Cheney has a history of heart disease. He suffered the first of four heart attacks at age 37, and had eight "cardiac events" -- including surgeries to replace a pacemaker and to implant a vascular stent -- between the 2000 and 2008 elections.

I am curious to know is Mr. Cheney taking advantage of Government run Medicare to pay for part of his recent heart problem? Since his problems seem to be an on going very expensive procedure did he run in to any Death Panels. If he enjoyed the Government run Medicare paying in part I expect him to come out with a statement saying how great it was and that he is indebted to it for using it so often and staying in only the best acomodations.

O.R. Doctor: Somebody waterboard that fat pig - STAT! That'll get his heart pumping again.

O.R. Doctor: Wait.....we're hoping he dies?

God: Jesus! I've already administered four heart attacks. Modern medicine got in the way there. Allowed the leadership in America to draft him to be killed in Vietnam. Deferments...honestly, USA? Allowed him to shoot his friend in the face where shockingly, there was no return fire. Maybe I shouldn't reverse that. Put him in a position of power to be shot (although I'll admit he's no JFK). Nobody stepped up to the plate... Allowed him to commit crimes that would surely have gotten him sent to prison in your justice system where he'd be raped and beaten to death. Hmmm And, AND, I've given him a crabby wife, a lesbian daughter, and a batsh_t one, to boot which would probably have killed a lesser homophobe. What more do you people want from me? A miracle?

Satan, you mind taking this one for me?

Satan: Hey, I already took a paternity test, alright? That wacko's definitely not mind. Deal with your own problems, God. This recession's kicking my a__. With Bush out of office, I don't get anymore tax cuts, and stockbrokers aren't askin' me for favors as much.

Huh?

(case in point)

The right is populated by uneducated ideologues who have NO clue about anything, but feel empowered to "foist" their delusions on the rest of the planet because somebody told them GOD wants them to do it.

All I can say is, we once use to put idiots in a corner wearing a dunce cap, but I guess it got too crowded so now they wear tin foil hats, watch FOX News and defend mass murderers while claiming the right to intrude into the reproductive rights of everyone else, YET throw children under the nearest bus AFTER they are born. (With zero health care, in needless wars, with faith based education instead of science, and in countless other ways.)

And THEY want to lead our nation?

Better they take "Dicky-Boy" and walk till their hats float.

All the good you've done for humanity, during your lifetime, all over the world. Or you can count the money you received in exchange for all those favors to Haliburton, decide which humanitarian organization you will be leaving it to (I suggest the Iraqi Womens and Orphans Fund), and prepare to face your maker. You will be judged on the good you do and much is asked of those who have the most. Are you ready?

While I have never liked or trusted Dick Cheney, long before he became VP and was turned loose to wreak hellfire and brimestone during his costly and tragic tenure...the ONE THING I do PRAY for is that he not die, but lives to finally be held accountable by mankind BEFORE he is turned over to the Wrath of Almighty God!

He must ne held accountable in life. It is only just, mete and right so to do. He will be given MORE LATITUDE than most ever will to tell the truth, the whole truth, so help him God. IF he is convicted of war crimes, which I am pretty confident he IS guilty of (so don't put me on the jury!), then it would be appropriate he survive a long and most miserable life in confinement similar to Nuremberg.

I ache and agonize at the damage BOTH he and George W Bush and cronies have done to our wounded country.

If ever there was a God, I hope there's one to zap this guy, once and for all. He's been nothing but trouble, for everybody, even the morons here who pat him on the back. I hope there's some patriot out there who would trip over the plug and accidentally forget to plug him back in or something. Or give him the flu (just the regular flu) or smoke cigarettes around him 24/7 or pee in his soup. Wax the floor beside his bed. Use expired ingredients or products to prepare his meal. Don't empty his bedpan. Wipe their butt with his towel. Accidentally administer the wrong medication. Hey, irresponsible hospitals do it all over the country - I'm sure of it. Anything to get the ball rolling.

What would be great is if Bush came to visit: "I could've been a better president if I didn't listen to your wacky theories" (choked with bare hands).

Or if Mary Cheney came to visit and said: "John Kerry stood up more for me in one debate than you did for me my whole adult life" (smothered by pillow).

Or if Liz Cheney came to visit and said: "I just realized that we're distantly related to Obama, and you're using gov't-funded healthcare for your visit!" (drowned by bats__t).

Or his best friend came to visit and said: "My turn, Dick, and you don't have to go far to get assistance" (bang!) "Just thought I'd shoot ya in the nuts, rather than the face. You don't need those for anything, anyway."

What would really be messed up is if Pelosi, Reid, and Sebelius came to visit him and said: "Well Dick, you and others said we wanted to pull the plug on grandma with our healthcare reform bill. We're not going to do that to everyone else, but since you like to pretend you know everything, we won't disappoint, and don't worry, we don't discriminate because you're an old man." (yank!)

Old and young people die all over this great country everyday, for a variety of reasons. This guy has had four heart attacks, and hasn't learned his lesson from any of them. Is there no universal justice? Is this sadistic irony?

Everybody dies at some point. This is one of those people who DESERVES his death. Sooner than later. Mother Nature, where art thou??? Why can't you get rid of this old creep? You took Rob Novak and Tony Snow, but they weren't that significant.

His body keeps telling him he should die, but he doesn't want to listen. Don't give him a choice, Nature! And God, if you're out there, do your part to! Make it a team effort, and hurry before he messes anything else up for America! PLEASE. America, you can do your part by hoping, or if you're religious, by praying that he goes away forever (either life-wise, or to another country and never heard from again).

America will be great again once that instigator leaves it alone.

On the other hand, when Cheney dies, the majority of people will feel that the earth is better off without that diabolical monster. I hope Cheney will die with the knowledge that through his lies and greed, he caused the death of thousand of U.S. soldiers and Iraqis. CHENEY’S WARS

We wish Cheney well. However, we cannot ignore the nasty hue of his current politics and the stress that possibly triggered his current health problems. Over the weekend, in searing strokes, two highly respected Generals (Powell and Petraeus) demolished the thesis of Cheney’s up-coming revisionist book on his role in the Bush White House and his touted credentials on national security. On Monday, the Justice Department released a damaging analysis debunking Cheney’s claims that harsh interrogation methods worked. Cheney did not get the vindication he sought! Cheney does not have in his bone the idealism of a Mother Terera. Indeed, a case can be made that he lived on the dark side of power that needs fear to sustain it. Like many neo-cons, he employs deficient “facts” and arguments to confuse the masses. They hope that repeated falsehood would result in fulfillment just as corporations do in advertising. These two tricks (power through fear, and use of subliminal propaganda) Cheney learned well in the corporate world. Cheney thus aims to impact our thinking on the future. He asserts that Obama would be a “one-time President” in a barely begun Presidency. Remember Cheney’s score card. He predicted that Iraq will welcome the US as liberators; it didn’t happen. But such are the things that keep Cheney awake at night—aware that history will not treat him kindly. Perhaps some entities, at home or abroad, are still plotting a charge of war crimes against him. Cheney is scared!

No prayer (hands clasped and pointing DOWN) should be spared on his behalf.. they should even kill a few chickens and offer up a few red candles during the Virgil.

However... on the off-chance that he doesn't make it... Placing his remains under a wet rock, with a spigot for "the eternal drip as his tombstone seems more than appropriate.

I am not the person to wish ill will upon anyone, but I will say this:

Dick Cheney, you are a murderer, war criminal, and traitor to America. You started an illegal war and sold my country out to your fat bastard friends at Haliburton for a quick buck. You have the blood of hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis on your hands in addition to that of thousands of Americans, your supposed fellow country men. You shot another man in the face and had your secret service goons hide you from the public for over a day to avoid being charged with attempted murder.

No Dick, you do not deserve to go out relatively easy with another heart attack. No No, you deserve to spend the last few years of your life in the most painful misery anyone has experienced. I hope you have a stroke, and have to be conscious and well aware that you are going to be eating, breathing, pissing, and sh.tting through tubes for the last years of your life. Burn in hell Dick.

I am from Karachi- Pakistan and have seen the soviets come and go from Afghanistan and have observed the Allies(US) also come and about to go. We in Pakistan are always of the opinion that the general public in America is good natured and Kind hearted. It is not ur guns and bullets which have made u strong but liberty, merit , people standing for just causes ,tolerence are those virtues which had made ur country strong. But here is a dillema. Much that an average american neither can digest nor tolerates deceit and lies intra but when it comes to international levels - unfortunately the practice is otherwise. No one trusts - atleast in our country what ur bigwigs come and claim or say - except for our Sleazy CIA installed president and his cronies. Ur image at the international levels is not what one would desire of - despite all the money that u pump in. Ever wondered why? why instaed of being grateful the only people hated is ur govt fellow? One more info. The feeling here is that u r not fighting the american war, but that of Israel. In so far Dick is concerned - he and his boss who believed two in hand better than one in the bush, with his foxy eyes did what he was told to do - remember Florida enquiry where his Bra was the governor. What promise he made to those, who call the shots in US with their media and wealth-he not only got off the hook but also made to the White house- so while the contractors of cheney fellow did a remarkable job in Iraq by sucking the money off defence in provision of logistics - Halliburton was the most lucky. What did G W Bush gain?
Viz Ted Kennedy - I was in US in 1969 when poor Mary Joe- said to be pregnant then got drowned. The clumsy story of TED did not appeal to me then - even as an outsider. And this is what happens . Truth becomes the casuality when justice gets compromised by the ruling class. And yet Such people like Ted and Cheney get elected? Well I am not surprised. After all our sleazy CIA fellow was also elected as our president. There was a trickery that paved the way. I would suggest that when ever a candate in US wants a backdoor entry to important positions - he better take guidelines from us and CIA. He will never be exposed. Confidentiality guaranteed.

"The New Pearl Harbor," by a scholar of proven integrity, Emeritus Professor David Ray Griffin, Ph.D., an eminent theologian, proves Bush and Cheney committed 9/11, by G-d.

After millions were sold for $15 a piece, it has now been patriotically donated by the author and publisher (true Americans), and is available on-line as a free download http://files.meetup.com/275335/The%20New%20Pearl%20Harbor.pdf

Cheney is neither a man, nor American.

His first child was born nine months and one day after the Vietnam draft law was changed to include childless married men.

Besides having committed 9/11, he no doubt molested his daughter, physically or psychologically, to result in her being a lesbian.

Can any pretending to be righteous not wonder at author Lynn Cheney's "lesbian potboiler," "Sisters," written while she should have been working at being a mother?

Their lack of grace didn't need a shotgun blast to a "friend's" face to be self-evident.

They are scum and Cheney, like his dim-witted, closeted fellow draft-dodger, needs to be hanged by the American People for treason.

Dick Cheney, The whole country & the world is praying that you drop dead soon & spare the world to hear your ugly comments or put up with your obnoxious comments. If you had any shame & integrity you would hang yourselves or stick a bullet in your head.

You are indeed a murder, you have the blood of innocent Muslims on your hands & neck. You were responsible for causing mass murders in Iraq, you & your puppet dog Bush were responsible for ruining our Holy sights in Iraq. The Muslims did not like Saddam, but Saddam had not caused the 9/11 incidents. Despite the fact that Saddam was a dictator but there was a lot more opportunities, education among women, the country was growing. You are brain dead & stupid, a greedy man from Montana who only thinks on how to get rich. Look what your actions have done for the USA? All over the world people are tired of the Americans specially the American leaders. The world does not look up to America anymore. The supremacy of America has become trashed & we have lost our economical supremacy. The Bric economies have started looking at China as their leader. Your plans to steal Iraqi oil has back fired on your face. You wanted to get rid of the Muslims & create a Muslim holocaust; you & brainless Bush ordered the killings of the innocent Palestinian children & women. Die in Hell, Burn in Hell, who cares what happens to you, on the contrary the country will celebrate on the days you & Bush dies, You both created a lot of problems for your country. You should both be tried as war criminals. You are an enemy to mankind & burden on this soil. So just shut up and no body real cares if you die, it will be better for the world to see you go soooooooooooooooooooooon

It was a tragedy that should not have happened and caused a young woman her life. But Ted Kennedy spent the next 30 years trying to pass legislation that helped mankind, providing jobs, healthcare, education for those who are less fortunate.

Please tell me what the heck Dick Cheney did to help anyone by himself, his fellow corporate titans and the neocons who contributed to this nation current economic turmoil and trashed reputation around the globe.

One of the tenets of my political philosophy is to never again vote for a Democrat or Republican. Support independent candidates. Remember that the intention of the Founding Fathers was to elect, for one term, the “butcher, the baker or the candlestick maker.” It’s time to revisit that thinking.

agreed with the Republicans desire to support a large defense effort, but I witnessed first hand the tremendous waste of tax dollars thrown at the defense contractors. I also watched as much legislation was passed that definitely gave huge tax breaks to American corporations at the expense of the American people. Was this the price I had to pay to support my life style? In essence, would I need to shut my mouth and become a hypocrite and vote for the lesser of two evils? Over the last 20 years, I have watched the Republicans change their party platform to a more centrist philosophy in an attempt to capture the votes of many borderline Democrats. Now the Republicans were starting to sound like the Democrats – tax and spend! Republicans were now supporting many social programs in an effort to attract a broader base of voters – programs with which I vehemently disagreed that lead us down the road to socialism. Although the core Republican strength has been the religious right, the party has tempered its platform to accept positions that go against the very fiber of the party, on issues such as expanded social programs, violations of our civil rights and partial-birth abortions. If the party believes in individual responsibility then the party should take no position on matters that should be left to the woman who has to make that decision. It’s either none of the Federal government’s business or an issue to be decided at the local or state level. Whether some people like it or not, the country is comprised of many diverse cultures and religious factions. Should bureaucrats in Washington be deciding predominately religious issues and passing laws that may affect Mormons in Utah, Quakers in Pennsylvania and Catholics in Massachusetts? I think not. These are state or local issues or non-issues that the Federal government has no business legislating.

In response to the terrorist’s attacks of September 11th, we invaded Afghanistan after giving the ruling clique, the Taliban, 48 hours to surrender Osama Bin Laden. When the deadline passed, we sent in our troops to destroy the Taliban, a backward Muslim sect, in order to find and liquidate our archenemy. I believe the vast majority of Americans, including myself, supported that effort. But when we invaded Iraq, I drew the line. There was no real evidence to support weapons of mass destruction or links to Al-Qaeda. Even if Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction, how would he deliver them against us? It was well documented that the Scud missiles he possessed had a maximum range of 200 miles; just enough to reach Israel but of no possible direct consequence to the United States. So, in fact, we were really attacking Iraq to protect the Israelis and our oil interests using our troops as cannon fodder.

This weekend we saw the actual report, and the greatest intelligence "get" -- the one that Dick has been touting for two years -- reported that KSM gave them, under torture, a terrorist who, in fact, was arrested before KSM was even questioned. Cheney's whole tortured torture defense was based on a lie. A total lie.

Any human being who is so criminally, insanely wrong about everything, so utterly blind to himself and the truth around him, would naturally be as rotten on the inside as what he presents to the world.

I believe that the Republican Party is the dirty playing red team and their foul play is dragging the less corrupt Democratic Party down with it. The Republican Party will lie, cheat, steal, and kill to get what they want, and this behavior has the Democratic Party playing constant defense. The result is that a lot of awful Republican legislation gets passed that is harmful to the vast majority of the American people. The Democrats are usually only able temper the greed of the Republican's backwards legislation with frivolous amendments and expose' speeches that the vast majority of the American people never hear.

Youngunner, the context is manyfold. First, yes the video is edited footage strung together by partisans to make a particular partisan point. Second, the statements were made by people in power who received intelligence altered and manipulated by partisans in the Bush administration to elicit the very responses from Democrats that were elicited. I too fault the Democrats who made those statments. But only because they were too naive and believed the messengers. Now, your last paragraph was very condescending and belittling. My "little worldview" is shared by the majority of the world. Read any poll you want to.

And in the same sentence you decry name calling, you call me a "leftist" and refer to the "lack of intelligent responses" from "leftists." Seriously? The bottom line is, Cheney and Bush wanted war. They manipulated the intelligence and preyed on the fears of the American people and the Congress to get it. Mission Accomplished. Hundreds of thousands of innocent people died as a result and continue to die. I shed tears for their deaths. Not for Cheney the death dealer. May he rot in hell.

To help you understand how this Republican ideology is dragging down the Democratic Party and the differences between the two parties consider this analogy. A small town has two high school football teams. One team, "The Reds", is located in a more affluent part of town with a higher property tax base allowing its football team to have nicer equipment, a nicer stadium, more coaches, etc. The other team, "The Blues", is located in a poorer part of town and they have fewer resources to give to their team. However, both teams have the same number of students to draw from, the same level of parent and student support, and the same desire to win.

The Red team has a head coach who will do anything to win including paying bribes, spying, forging fake birth certificates, passing students who are really failing, drugging players, and teaching his team how to play dirty to gain an advantage. The Blue team, on the other hand, has a coach who believes education comes first and sports second, and that winning is only great if you play fairly and honestly. He teaches his players that doing the right thing, working hard, and playing by the rules is where the greatest rewards in life come from.

The Republicans are baiting voters with a conservative ideology and Christian values, but then they switch to a fascist ideology and immoral sociopathic values when it comes to writing and passing legislation. This type of bait and switch fascist ideology is threatening our freedoms, economic opportunities, government assets, and democracy, and it's dragging the Democratic Party down with it.

Currently, neither party is representing the interest of liberals and that is a shame because liberal ideals promote freedom, human rights, worker's rights, a clean environment, and greater economic opportunities for all Americans. However, there is almost no difference between Republican and Democratic voters except their perceptions about where the two parties stand on issues like abortion, gun control, taxes, state's rights, prayer in school, military spending, deficits, and Social Security, and their perceptions are often wrong. Their perceptions are not wrong because large numbers of the American people are ignorant, but they are wrong because the politicians are often lying to us. Also, the major media companies, which are owned by the wealthy elites, have been perpetuating the lies by spinning the facts, or by just ignoring the facts.

The Democrats in Congress have become fiscal and social conservatives and have completely abandoned their liberal roots. These facts became obvious during the Clinton administration with conservative fiscal policies that help bring down the deficit. The Republicans in Congress, on the other hand, have become fiscal liars and social hypocrites, and have completely abandon their conservative roots. These facts became obvious during the Reagan administration, and both Bush administrations, with budgets that have ballooned the federal debt to over $10 trillion dollars.

@feasors, Please explain to me how it is out of context. I understand that editing makes the potential for it to be taken out of context but I remember watching this stuff as it unfolded and I was in disbelief when the Dems flipped on their Iraq stance.

You can practice double think, attack the messenger and not address the issue, and do whatever you need to do to console your little world view. I'm used to the name calling and utter lack of intelligent response from the vast majority of the leftists I know. It's depressing how redundant it is but I'm used to it.

This blog is one of the most despicable blogs I've ever had the stupidity to read.
Hoping a man will die, torturing him, getting personal about his wife and his sex life is absolutely unacceptable.
It only proves the point that when Dems run out of things to say they refer to their playbook of vulgarity, name calling and showing America and other countries just how inane you really are.
Not one single person here knows what a Vice-President and President of The United States of America even does. Shame on you! Until you earn your way into that position don't even presume to know. As the saying goes: Don't judge a person until you've walked in his shoes.
Vice-President Cheney is a human being, as your mother, father, siblings and the whole damned lot of you. Sometimes I wonder if any of you have one ounce of morality, dignity or compassion. GOD help us if this is our future.
God's Speed on your recovery Mr.Vice-President Cheney. We need you back, soon, we conservatives have some house cleaning that desperately needs to be done and it's only just begun with Senator Brown and the dems dropping like flies and eating their own. We need your voice.

He murdered a young woman and led a horrible life. I hope that God forgave him and he has learned a lesson. Dick Cheney is a far far better man than Ted Kennedy ever hoped to be. The vemon spewed by left wing anti-Americans here is indicative of what pieces of human debris they are and how serious the problem in this country has become.
It is time to rid this country of the liberal infection. The media, the White House, the Congress, and our public schools are the places to begin. Let's give America back to Americans and get back to our founding principles and Constitution. Use your vote. And don't be fooled by ACORN's name change nor intimidated by the Nes Black Panthers.

Right - the "entire generation" of the Roman Anti-Christ's "Fifth Column" for whom Cheney worked: the same pederasts and bathroom stall perverts who supported the Knight of Malta-led Roman Catholic CIA's assassinations, led by Cheney mentor Richard Nixon and GHW Bush, of President Kennedy and Dr. KIng, the same Mammon-worshippers who permitted the Roman Catholics on the Supreme Court to cheat Hitler's draft-dodging, closet-queen grandson into the White House to commit 9/11 as "Reichstag Fire Redux."

If Bush and Cheney lied about weapons of mass destruction then Kerry, Clinton and Dean all lied about weapons of mass destruction. Democrats and Republicans alike were all for the war in Iraq until the Democrats realized they might be able to win cheap political points by opposing an unpopular war that they helped start. (Probably knowing that they were going to oppose it later anyway.)

The Bush Cheney lied argument is childish. Are you implying that Congress just took both of them at the word?

Posted by: YounGunner | February 23, 2010 5:53 AM | Report abuse

Dick Cheney is a war criminal (as is Bush). They both lied about Iraq having WMDs. When UN Inspectors verified that they were lying they kicked them out and destroyed the country killing hundreds of thousands of people. Unfortunately, we only prosecute those on the losing side for war crimes, otherwise Cheney and Bush would no longer be on this earth.

We have 3 snow days built into the school calendar, and hardly more than one or two are ever used! If we get a foot or two of snow, and the storm ends before 3am, the roads are cleared enough the next morning for schools to be opened! Hardly any businesses ever close because of the weather! So, I not only can't sympathize, I usually laugh my butt off watching the news clips of the poor dear people in DC scrambling and totally lost over a little snow! Syracuse is the 4th snowiest place in the U.S., I hope you know!

And try to get as many of them safely home as possible! And most of us didn't have much of a choice! We either served or went to Canada! In those days I loathed and hated those who evaded the draft and copped out to Canada! But now I believe they made the right choice! Over 50,000 kids dead, almost a half million wounded physically and/or mentally! And for what?? That Sir is not what I call perched on the mountain! More like trying to survive Hell! He said "I might have used the NG to hide from battle, but I'll be damned if anyone else will be able to do likewise! Hell, in this country's worst war (II) the NG was only used to guard our boarders and the homeland! The next hideout would be the Air Force and the final hideout would be the Navy, your path good capn!! Funny, from reading some of these posts, you'd think those on the right are the world-champion "experts" at fighting wars and such, and the "libruls" are just weak-kneed pansies who hate Cheney because he's such a "he-man".

How is it possible then, that no Republican administration has actually won a war since 1898 (The Spanish-American War)? That's a hundred and twelve years, for all you Republicans reading this.

Every war actually won by America in all those years was won under them dang Democratic "pansies". The two big ones come directly to mind.

Guess that's exactly what drives all the "tough talkin" Republicans crazy. Like Cheney, they want war - any war - so they can win one for "The Gipper" and prove how manly they are. Prove that all that tiresome "tough talkin" really means something, after all.

I got no problem with that. Boys will be boys. But "Five Draft Deferments" Cheney is - like many "tough talkin" Republicans, a huge fan of war at any price...as long as someone else is doing all the fighting and dying and paying.

So much for the myth of the right being good at national defense and war. As is obvious, it's always been nothing but smoke and mirrors and posturing like mating peacocks.

mr_real, boy, you are stupid I see! Well, Lets see, over half our budget is going toward the military and supporting to useless wars! So, If we change the laws so no one pays taxes, our biggest entitlement program wouldn't be funded, the Pentagon! Now, another large entitlement program, the VA Health Care System, which wouldn't even exist if the Republicans had had their way, wouldn't be funded either! Nor would the Medicare system for seniors be funded, nor Social Security, which most of us, excepting your self and all those others making over $100,000 didn't have to pay into, wouldn't be funded either! I bet you never paid into Social Security, like us low wage earners did, but you consider it an entitlement program, right?? Congress is covered by "government run" health care insurance, paid 100% by us taxpayers, (excepting you who pays no taxes because of all your tax loopholes), but I just bet you don't consider the Congress health care plan an "entitlement" program, right?? Food stamps which mostly goes to the unemployed, most of whom can't get jobs now-a-days, is also an entitlement program by your standards! Like your supposedly helping in a kitchen (doubt you ever do/did) is able to reach the many millions of poor people in need, right? In today's age, I bet you couldn't exist on $10,000 in annual income! A few years ago, a congressman tried doing just that and failed miserably! Lastly, your tax money goes toward supporting paying all the candidates you voted into office! Did your taxes decrease in the Bush years? If you say they did, you are a liar at your income level! The only people who got tax breaks during the Bush years were married middle ot lower class families with children, due to the child tax credit! If you didn't have any children, regardless if you were single or married, you received no Federal tax cuts, period!

Again, I can't believe you're that ignorant. Certainly, our southwest is vulnerable to the northern Mexico cartels. But that's not the sovereign threat to our nation. You must certainly realize that the alliance between Iran, Cuba and South America (mentioned) pose a threat far greater than that of simple guerilla warfare drug cartels. Big picture here. They pose a threat where we are most vulnerable. Do you get that? Or should we just invite them over for a beer and explain to them how really nice we are?

W changed horses in midstream, which was a mistake. God speed for a quick return to health.

captnjack, please, Putin, Chevez and Castro couldn't attack their grandmothers at this point, let alone be a threat to us! You are really living in the darkest of ages boy! Christ, the drug cartels and gangs in Mexico are far more a threat to the United States than any terrorists! More Americans have died at the hands of the drug Lords along the Mexican boarder and have infiltrated far deeper into American society, than all the terrorists combined! And there has never been any documented case of any terrorists sneaking across the Mexican boarder!

yankeechess, you don't get it. Assume for a second you and I both care about the poor, sick, starving etc. because I honestly believe that we do. My question is why would you want the government to take a third of the money that you worked for, tie up half of that in government salaries, pork, etc. then just give the rest out in entitlements that don't empower anyone to improve their lives? It's just a temporary (or worse permanent) handout. If I go to a local food bank, volunteer in my community or write a check directly to a charity I research and support, I KNOW I'm helping. Right now none of us know where our tax money goes, how much is enough to 'cure' unemployment and/or hunger, or where it will end.

Nobody was killed in either attempt under Obama's watch! But under Cheney's watch, thousands were killed in the 911 attack! Obama is 14 months into his administration and no one has died on American soil from a terrorist attack, but just 9 months into Cheney/Bush, thousands were killed on American soil from a terrorist attack! The problem with you Righties is that your political worshiping comes far ahead of your patriotism! You know why sicko? Because you not only wish, but you want a terrorist attack to hit this country even bigger than 911, so you can say, like Cheney also wants to say "see, I told you so!

Republicans who might wish to defend Cheney should remember that without him we almost certainly would not have Obama in the White House. Obama was able to run, essentially, on not being Bush (an easy mandate to fulfill, even if some of his supporters see him falling short) and much of what the public voted against was Cheney. He was arrogant and reckless. Corrupted by power. He hitched the Bush Administration's wagon to the "Project for the New American Century," which we now see for the folly and delusion that it was. (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_for_the_New_American_Century). He is more responsible than any other single individual for the decline of the Republican party in 2007-2009.

You probably don't, but that's how it used to work here in America. It is common knowledge that righties are more charitable then lefties. By charitable I mean we actually take money out of our own pockets and give it to charity. When 'our' Jesus (yours also BTW) walked the Earth, he didn't testify in front of congress, or draft a healthcare bill,he talked about the responsibility of the individual to care for his fellow man. So don't give me the whole we're greedy, WWJD argument, because we do more everyday then you. You don't care about money because it's not YOUR money. Well, why not get in a little practice?

Reporting from BETHESDA, MD -- (AP)
The man largely considered the most powerful, and likely most controversial, vice president in US history, Richard B. Cheney, died this after at Bethesda Naval Hospital from a massive cardiac arrest, his 6th.

Mr. Cheney, former congressman from Wyoming, Secretary of Defense, Vice President, and viewed as a major influence under four

Republican presidents, leaves a legacy of shame, corruption and villainy that will blow the minds of high school history students for the next century....

Incredulous journalists reported a strange sound, much like snickering, coming from the brace of horse carrying the catafalque in which the former Vice President lay in repose....

Reporting from HELL -- (AP)

Reactions continue to pour in from around the world, and beyond, concerning the death Friday of former US Vice President Richard Cheney. None, however, match the jubilation of those expressed here.

Josef Stalin, Adolf Hitler, Pol Pot, Idi Amin, and Auguste Pinochet were all beaming in anticipation. "We needed a sixth," remarked a grinning Amin from the group's bridge club.

"We hope Cheney dies." "He's getting what he deserves." It would be easy to dismiss this type of sickness as the unfortunate mental dysentery of fringe lunacy elements of the Democrat party, but that would be too simple an explanation. The truth is that such essential irrationality is endemic to the Left, inclusive of all Democrats and a fair number of Republicans. Liberalism is the disease; the Constitution is the cure.

It's telling. These people identify with the U.S. They have nothing to be proud of on their own merit. They're losers, who only find dignity through association with the great nation in which they happen to be born and raised.

They're the ones who wave the flag when Bode Miller or Shani Davis wins a gold medal in the olympics, only to find that neither has any respect for their stupid, lazy-@ss, white-trash selves.

Funny isn't it, when Bill Clinton went to the hospital the majority of the conservatives on most of the blogs and comments told others not to be rude and say evil things about him. But of course it is just like the left to attack people on the right that go to the hospital. When it was Rush, they attacked and wished him dead, and now Cheney. Those that feed on other people's physical pain and suffering are just evil. No matter if the person is left or right.

Cheney is surely among the most polarizing & hated figures in contemporary politics. Among the many justified criticisms has been his utter lack of compassion & human decency. How ironic that the metaphor for such inhumanity is to say that he "has no heart."
He is lucky that the medical team treats him with more respect than he treats us Americans. If he got medical care that was of the same quality as the performance he put in as Veep, he'd have expired many years ago. In some ways, the nation & the world might have been better off in that scenario.

And some people, who never follow politics, think we should talk nice about him?? Well, I'm in the south right now, so I'll use their usual "nice" phrase: "Bless his heart!" Even his daughter rebelled him in the only way she knew how!

Why does the "Report Abuse" link not work? I am no fan of the former Vice President's record under the previous administration, nor his current politicking, but the above, undignified remarks only undermine legitimate, productive dialectic.

Can't you just see this alleged human being doing a duck walk thru the halls at Bethesda with his big old hairy butt exposed out the back? Here's hoping that hios pain is excruciating and prolonged.

Wow! The majority of you are just awful, awful people. Bitter-indulgent-hateful. Your even po'd with the current President because he's not progressive enough for you. You folks really need to direct your "efforts" in a more positive direction. Your angry because your dream of Euro-Socialist-Lenninist State is not coming to fruition.

I have felt that Mr. Former VP cared more for himself and the GOP, and that he never seemed to care about anyone who were not a member of his family nor a GOP member. Still, I only ask our Lord and Savior's will be done. I do not know if Mr. Cheney was CINO (Christian in Name Only) or if he actually believed in God, if he needs saving, I pray that he get saved. If he is already saved, I am totally confused, because true Christians are not nearly as toxic in speak and action as he has been. However his eternal resting place is between him and his God, if he believes in a God.

I hope Cheney's doctors have the world's most powerful microscope, so they can find his heart. That said, I am sorry Bob Dole is in the hospital, he is an American hero. When called he went and served, was grievously injured, and then continued to serve his country in Congress. As a Republican he championed one of the most progressive pieces of legislation, the Americans with Disabilities Act. Bob Dole worked with people on both sides of the aisle, but was not afraid of a fight. Bob Dole, an American hero and class act. My family prays tonight for Bob Dole.

Maybe another operation will switch him back to the guy who said "It would be a mistake for us to get bogged down in the quagmire inside Iraq. (1991) and "How many additional American casualties is Saddam worth? And the answer is not very damned many." (1992).

And his family has to thank Obama for all these bad wishes comments here.

If he had not flip on his promise to go after these criminals who broke every law of this country we wouldn't be here VENTING our anger.

Obama is too young. He may have the same treatment in his old age if he continues on the Cheney path.

"I am as liberal and detest Cheney as much as anyone."

No, you may be as liberal as anyone, but you sure don't detest him as much as many millions of people in this country and all over the world. His mercenary, blood for looted oil and Haliburton shceme was no war, it was mass murder, a crime against humanity. The regional war that follows on will lead to further crimes that would make Chemical Ali blush. Anyone remember Cambodia's killing fields? I'll bet Henry Kissinger doesn't.

What everyone needs to understand is that people like Dick and his entire nut family will speak complete hate and spew evil and get away with it without consequence. The only satisfaction and pay back is when he finally dies and then they have to feel sadness and pain.

I hate terrorists as much as everyone, support our troops, and even support both wars we are in. I just absolutely hate Cheney, everything he says, and what he did to destroy this great county. Finally, for the record while I am a democrat, I lean right and even cross the aisle on many issues.

He is a disgrace, he's mean and scary, and he needs to go away. We didn't hear from him for 8 years, now he's got to be in our face all of a sudden? Go away, "dick" Chaney, PLEASE go away!

What? I was so hoping for a long, slow, excruciatingly painful death for this boob. The same sort of death he's assured all of our children. May he never, ever rest in peace. May he suffer, suffer, suffer.

Was wishing Hitler dead bad? Was wishing Stalin an early death bad? Mussolini? Idi Amin? Ceausescu? Mobutu? Mao? Pol Pot?

Cause Cheney fits right in there. Too bad it's too late to save untold thousands of lives.

It's not hatred. It's absolute and utterly perfect completion of a circle, formed by rational, caring people who wish the best for humanity. Cheney spent his life being cruel and unusually mean spirited in public. Maybe if he stops and reads these comments, maybe one brain cell will fire that used to be the one that allows him to be a human being. In his own words....F*** you, Dick Cheney. Go to He**.

Wow, I hope he doesn't die...... quickly.
It would be justice for him to linger in a mentally conscious but physically painful and degrading condition beyond his ability to do anything about.

What will become of the Halliburton loot? Lets hope the lovely Lynne ends up rooming with Ruth Madoff.

Republican or Democrat, doesn't matter, this one was in a class off vile evil all by himself. Truly a despicable human being.

The guy should know that his behavior is toxic and that the lies he tells will come back on him and he will regret it. Just think, the first at age 37, he must have been some character. IF it is congenital, he should take it easy, get out of the public light and live a while. His current behavior is not serving him well.

I am as liberal and detest Cheney as much as anyone. However, I don't wish him dead, I just wish for him to be discredited and shamed the way he should be. I know history will look back on his corrupt service to this country in a negative way, I just wish it would happen while he is still around to know that he has been disgraced.

Posted by: maniac2 | February 22, 2010 8:05 PM | Report abuse
