Poll limns provisions of a more limited health-care reform bill

By Shailagh Murray
If Democrats can't find the votes to advance a massive health-care overhaul, they may be forced to scale back their ambitions. But what might a more limited bill include?

The children's advocacy group First Focus released poll results Thursday showing the popularity of 10 leading provisions included in the legislation that ran aground last month in the Senate, after Democrats there lost their filibuster-proof majority in the Massachusetts special election.

Voters may not like the pending bill, but the child advocates' survey suggests they overwhelmingly support certain elements of it -- providing a possible roadmap to a compromise. The issues are certain to be on the table next Thursday when Democrats and Republicans meet for a White House health-care summit.

Here are the provisions, ranked by First Focus according to public support:

1) A mechanism to ensure that all children have health care coverage: 89% overall support (75% strongly support)
2) Tax credits to small businesses to help defray the cost of providing health benefits to workers: 88% overall support (62% strongly support)
3) Insurance market reforms that offer an opportunity for young adults up to age 26 to continue coverage on their parents' plan: 82% overall support (51% strongly support)
4) Funding to states to establish a marketplace, known as an "insurance exchange," where consumers and small business could buy health care coverage: 80% overall support (47% strongly support)
5) Insurance market reforms that would stop insurers from charging women more than men: 78% overall support (62% strongly support)
6) Changes to Medicare that would reduce growth in payments to doctors and hospitals while rewarding those who provide high-quality, lower-cost care: 74% overall support (44% strongly support)
7) Insurance market reforms that prohibit insurers from denying coverage based on pre-existing conditions: 73% overall support (55% strongly support)
8) Incentives for states to expand Medicaid to cover childless adults and parents: 71% overall support (42% strongly support)
9) Insurance market reforms that prohibit health plans from charging patients more for going outside their network in an emergency: 70% overall support (52% strongly support)
10) Changes to Medicare that would narrow a gap in Medicare coverage of prescription drugs, sometimes known as the "doughnut hole": 67% overall support (41% strongly support)
The telephone survey was commissioned by First Focus, a bipartisan group that receives private foundation funding, and conducted by Opinion Research Corp., using a national probability sample of 1,013 adults comprising 510 men and 503 women. The survey was completed during the period of January 28-31, 2010. The poll's margin of error is +/- 3%.

Healthcare: Time Doesn't Wait”

by Bohdan Yuri

Ovi Magazine: 2010-01-27

"...Now would be the time for President Obama to come forth and act as a true leader --- a Leader of both the Nation and the Democrat Party. If he doesn’t do it now then his term will end just as Carter’s did.
Regarding Healthcare: Now is the time for the President to fight back with his own proposal, and shape a Medicare for All bill with a single payer. At the very least, this should have been the goal from the beginning....

... As to that ever happening, (a sad laugh)…..Here’s the missing ingredient so far --- Courage!

Who will have the Courage to do what’s right and not suckle up to the milk of lobbyists. That is the question....

...Yet, ironically, under this new plan the insurance companies will not dissolve. They will still be there to offer supplemental insurance as they already do to the seniors with Medicare. But here’s the rub, they won’t be making such big profits anymore--- still profitable but not as huge.

But that’s the battle line, simple as that --- Money.

And let’s also redirect timetables. The present Healthcare bill wouldn’t have gone into effect until 2014. Do politicians realize they are not God? How many uninsured will die that could have been saved? ...

...The only part that is required by the President is the Strength, Courage, and Wisdom to act --- to realize the Truth."

too bad the poll didn't ask questions about how to pay. Enthusiasm dissipates quickly when people are asked what they are willing to give up in return.

First Focus sounds like another ACORN-type organization, paid with our money to help Obama lie, manipulate, intimidate, and coerce us into swallowing the Obamacare scam.

Obama and his comrades planned “health care” SCAM at least since 2007, when Robert Creamer, a CONVICTED FELON and Obama’s ACORN associate, outlined the guidelines for the Obamacare SCAM in his 2007 book, “Stand Up Straight: How Progressives Can Win.”

As per Creamer’s book, the main objective of Obamacare is only to increase the power of "progressives" (Marxists) through the “democratization of wealth” (socialism/Marxim) as per the teachings of Saul Alinsky.

Creamer wrote in his 2007 book:

* “We must create a national consensus that the health care system is in crisis.”
* “Our messaging program over the next two years should focus heavily on reducing the credibility of the health insurance industry....”
* “We need not agree in advance on the components of a plan, but we must foster a process that can ultimately yield consensus.”

As per those guidelines, Obama and his comrades planned to demonize the insurance industry and to agree to ANYTHING to get their scam approved. They don't care about the "components of the plan." All they want is CONTROL over our health care and our lives.

They want complete power as that of the Marxist thugs who are destroying Latin America. They plan to increase their power through the “democratization of wealth” (socialism/Marxism).

To bad they didn't poll the public option and a national exchange.

All they asked about was the Senate bill which everyone knows is unpopular.

What Good Is Health Care Reform, When a...

* Thousands of Americans, deemed to be "dissidents" or undesirables, targeted by Bush legacy program for debilitating microwave/laser assault, held hostage in their own homes to fed-supported vigilante "community policing" stalking units, equipped with warrantless GPS devices, who vandalize and terrorize as local police look the other way.

* Microwave/laser weapon system, a nationwide installation employing cell towers and satellites, induces weakness, exhaustion, head and body aches, physical and neurological impairment, strokes, aneurysms, cancer -- and many victims do not realize what is making them sick.

* Regional Homeland Security- administered "fusion centers" reportedly serve as command centers for covert electromagnetic radiation attacks, pervasive surveillance, financial sabotage of those identified as "dissidents," "trouble-makers" or slandered as threats to society.

* Use of microwave weaponry to torture and impair political opponents recently confirmed by deposed Honduras President Manuel Zelaya.

* Pleas for justice, to local police and FBI, go unanswered -- as do demands for a Department of Justice Civil Rights Division investigation and congressional hearings.

"These are crimes against humanity and the Constitution, being perpetrated under the cover of national security and 'safe streets' by multiple federal and local agencies and commands -- an American genocide hiding in plain sight, enabled by the naivete of those who think 'it can't happen here.'" -- Victor Livingston, former reporter for WTXF-TV Philadelphia, Phila.
