Bloggers send Nancy Pelosi 2,600 roses for her birthday

While some members of Congress have been targeted by health-care law opponents, at least one Democrat got a nice surprise from the public Friday. Bloggers at the liberal website Daily Kos sent thousands of roses to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office, to celebrate her birthday and her role in passing health-care legislation.

"Thanks to the community at Daily Kos, and others who joined in, Speaker Pelosi received thousands of roses this morning for her 70th birthday," Pelosi's staff wrote. "She sent half of the roses to Walter Reed Army Medical Center and is distributing the other half to hill staff to thank them for all their hard work on the health reform legislation." They've posted photographs of the flowers on Flickr. Pelosi also posted a video thanking the gift-givers.

It takes a woman to get health care through the congress and to become the most powerful speaker ever!
Happy Birthday, Nancy.
I have the misfortune to have one of those teabagger pandering lunkheaded republicans for a congress person. but, am lucky enough to have 2 democratic, progressive senators.
And, as a proud member of Daily Kos, it was thrilling to see Wapo do a story on the roses for Nancy Pelosi's Birthday.

One great thing about the fawning over this Alzheimered mess, she never fails to entertain.

Even the post slyly has mentioned just a continuous stream of goofy sayings from her:

I have a feeling things will be much tougher for her next January. But then, maybe she can try to save the planet again.

She's priceless in a way she doesn't intend to be.

Nancy gets roses; the teabaggers get sour grapes. Enjoy them, kids; it's about the best you're going to do!

DailyKos and FDL - both liberal/Progressive Party website authors bragged today that they were sending Nancy the flowers.

Do you hear, American people? They GIVE politicians money - then DEMAND their vote on issues - and DEMAND the money back if the politician doesn't vote their way...see Kucinich. He told FDL - fireloglake.com, that he would give the money back.

HELLO? THIS IS BUYING VOTES.

This trash hangs around on the public blogs and influences people, policies, lobbies, buys votes...and they HATE DEMOCRACY AND THE REPUBLICAN PARTY.

They are truly the most disgusting, slimey living cells on the planet.

That's: firedoglake.com and dailykos.com

Hold your nose when you click on the sites...and have a can in which to vomit.

Nancy's minions...they worship her.

I am most supportive of my Representative here in District 8 in San Francisco, Speaker Pelosi. And most proud. Happy Birthday Madame Speaker.

From jezebel.com:

Another present for Speaker Pelosi: a well-researched op-ed in The Los Angeles Times arguing that she is the most effective Speaker in two centuries:

"When it comes to being a speaker — the presiding officer of the House of Representatives and the leader of its majority party — Pelosi is without peer. No speaker in the past century has played such a key role in enacting major reforms. No speaker since Henry Clay, who wielded the gavel in the 1810s and '20s, has had so great an effect on American life."

Hear, hear.

I hope she still has them, withered, to remind her as to why she will be unemployed come Jan 03, 2011.

I want to wish Nancy a happy 83rd birthday! With all that plastic surgery, she doesn't look a day over 78.

Nancy Pelosi is a credit to all women. Thank you Nancy for showing the world that we our gender is as smart if not smarter then the male gender. Happy Birthday and thank you for being so tough.

I was also one of those who sent roses. Happy birthday to one of the greatest speakers of the last 100 years. She's smart, tough, and effective, and seems like a pretty nice person on top of all that.

IN any civilized society health care is a right not only a privilege for those wealthy enough to afford doctors.

I was one of those on the DailyKos who donated to send these roses, and wish Speaker Pelosi a very happy birthday and send thanks for her hard work getting this first round of health care legislation through.

Next up: Public Option!

"Nancey of San Francisco" deserves every single one of those roses, since she is the true heroine of the health care reform revolution. She worked tirelessly and courageously to bring about the reform. She never gave up. Even in the darkest moments, she remained positive, breathing life in to the trailing hopes and dreams of so many people. In these times, now, when so many people are filled with hatred, she stands as a shining example of what it means to be a giving human being. We are all better for her efforts and accomplishments. There are many, many others who deserve our praise and thankfulness, too, and maybe that is the meaning of all the roses, and who better to accept these on behalf of everyone than "Nancy of San Francisco."
