Obama to sign health care bill Tuesday

By Scott Wilson
President Obama will use a White House signing ceremony Tuesday to showcase the benefits of the health-care overhaul legislation passed late Sunday night by a divided House of Representatives.

White House officials said Obama intends to sign the bill during an event that will include a diverse group of guests, some of whom the president has showcased before to promote his health-care plans. He is hoping to do so on the South Lawn, aides said, but that could change if the weather is bad.

Invitees will include doctors and nurses, citizens who will benefit from some of the bill's provisions, and members of Congress instrumental in passing it. Aides said many details are still in the works, including how big the guest list will be.

That Obama will hold a high-profile event, even though the Senate has yet to approve "fixes" to the final legislation, indicates a White House desire to capitalize on the historic nature of the bill rather than allow Republicans, who unanimously opposed the measure in the House, to frame it as an expensive government intrusion into one-sixth of the national economy.

The legislation is certain to be a major element of the midterm election campaign season. Obama will travel Thursday to Iowa City, Iowa, to underscore the bill's immediate effects.

Y'know it's a great day in America today if you're a patient, a parent, or a medical practitioner. It's not such a great day if you're a Republican, a conservative (maybe redundant but what the heck), or Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck or any of that ilk. If you're a Teabagger it's a very bad day unless you have a chronic condition for which an insurance company has denied you coverage. Hey now that's what I want to see. I want to see ALL of these so called Teabagging patriots refuse to avail themselves of ANY of the benefits of the Health Care Reform Act. Judging by their actions this past weekend they would do well to see if mental health benefits are included. And Rush and Glenn can see if drug rehab benefits are available.

No kidding...it really is a great day for America.

The time to fix this Health Insurance Coverage bill called Health Care Reform is now.
The way to affordable health care is to end insurance. It has not stopped various errors etc., nor can it. Insurance is unnecessary and has increased the cost of all phases of medical treatment making it horrendously expensive. The solution is in the hands of the people. God says, ye are saved by faith. The only faith in insurance is in the devil’s ability to overcome God’s promises of protection and healing. Insurance disconnects our faith in God. Divine-Way .com shows Ammunition Against Passed Health Care Reform and why it is vitally important to use it NOW.

When we consider that insurance is in about every phase of buying and selling, we are employed almost for the purpose of paying insurances. If those with faith concentrate on the power of their God, they would end insurance. It would be like a giant raise because the price of everything could fall sharply without affecting profits.

We need someone in the White House NOW who knows the power of God and how to use it to lead the people to end the oppressions we brought upon ourselves by unbelief. Our politicians need to focus on God’s solutions; there be more with us than against us.

EarlC... I totally agree with you!

You americans please wake up and help your president to make America a better country for everyone! Instead of railing against him.

This health care program will give everyone the chance to be or get healty! And there will (maybe) be less deaths in a doctors office front room, because the doctors can not refuse to help anymore!

To the nut-job who thinks that socialism is a cancer, listen up. Socialism is the idea of economic equality and the cancer you describe is the infection of MacArthyism in the 1960's who was a racist southerner who thought that the communists were out to get the United States, so almost all anti-communist sentiments came out of the fear from the 60's. Socialism in latin america is horrible because those governments are headed up by evil dictators masked as politicians. Socialism is in theory a very nice way of thinking, promoting equality and understanding sounds nice to me. If anyone were to find a perfect economic lifestyle to the U.S. it would be capitalism but generosity would well educated so that helping the poor is, has been, and always will be good. So when you start screaming pointless sentiments get your facts straight and understand why you think a certtain way and wonder if you were taught well or just brain washed.

Wilson writes, "That Obama will hold a high-profile event, even though the Senate has yet to approve "fixes" to the final legislation, indicates a White House desire to capitalize on the historic nature of the bill..."

"Historic"?! The vote is “historic” the way 9/11 is “historic,” but it will cost us many more lives than 9/11. And it will also cost us thousands of businesses, millions of jobs, our economy, our freedoms and our future.

It’s also “historic” in that, for the first time in our history, we have a U.S. hating Marxist, assisted by fellow Marxists, working very hard to destroy our economy, our country and our future with criminal scams like Obamacare and cap and trade.

Wrong, nitellub! Those of us who have suffered from the cancer of “socialism of the XXI century” (Marxism) in Latin America don’t need Republicans to understand that Obama is infecting the U.S. with the same cancer through “help-the-poor” SCAMS like Obamacare.

Obama’s presidential campaign and the campaigns of Chavez, Morales, Correa, and the rest of the Marxist thugs who are destroying Latin America were very similar. Even the slogans – CHANGE and YES WE CAN -- were the same.

But Obama seems to be outdoing Chavez in the speed at which he’s destroying the country.

Imitating Hugo Chavez, Obama wants to nationalize everything, including our health care system! "Hey, Obama has just nationalized nothing more and nothing less than General Motors. Comrade Obama!" Chavez cheered on Venezuelan TV. He added that he and Cuba's Fidel Castro would now have to work harder just to keep up.

Fortunately, as we can see now, most Americans have NOT been dumbed down! Most Americans are NOT sheeple! Most Americans are ready to defend their FREEDOM and the freedom of their children and grandchildren from the abomination of Obama's criminal scams and socialism/Marxism.

Wrong rluekensValparaisoIN! Republicans proposed REAL reforms, including TORT reform. Obama and his comrades, however, refused to accept any REAL reforms. They only wanted to increase their power at our expense, as they planned to do years ago, when they first planned their scam.

Obamacare is a progressive (Marxist) SCAM that would destroy our health care, our economy, our freedoms, and our future.

As per the 2007 book “Stand Up Straight: How Progressives Can Win,” written by Robert Creamer, a CONVICTED FELON and Obama’s ACORN associate, the main objective of Obamacare is only to increase the power of "progressives" (Marxists) through the “democratization of wealth” (socialism/Marxim) as per the teachings of Saul Alinsky.

Creamer wrote in his 2007 book:

* “We must create a national consensus that the health care system is in crisis.”
* “Our messaging program over the next two years should focus heavily on reducing the credibility of the health insurance industry....”
* “We need not agree in advance on the components of a plan, but we must foster a process that can ultimately yield consensus.”

As per those guidelines, Obama and his comrades planned to demonize the insurance industry and to agree to ANYTHING to get their scam approved. They don't care about the "components of the plan." All they want is CONTROL over our health care and our lives.

They want complete power as that of the Marxist thugs who are destroying Latin America. They plan to increase their power through the “democratization of wealth” (socialism/Marxism).

The current health care bill is not the end of the discussion. This historic legislation draws a line in the sand and the congress can no longer ignore the issue. The debate will continue toward a 'more perfect union.:. ........

I cannot tell yet whether this health care bill will be good or bad for the U.S. because of the complexity of the problem.

However, after having been the president for several years of our health insurance trust covering 1000+ lives for 7 different corporations, I do know the following:

1) Something needed to be done. No sector of our economy can take increasingly larger bites out of the economy without some reaction;
2) Some form of tort reform must be (should have been) passed to control continued abuses to the system; and
3) Those, who had a chance to have positive input into the solution to our health care quagmire and chose not to contribute anything meaningful, can no longer have a significant voice of dissent.

This is my Mid-West, Republican view.

The Health Care reform bill passed on Sunday is no scam. The irony is that the people who are most against any type of reform are voting against a bill that is largely based on Republican ideas incorporated during the past year. The irony also is that the people most vocal against it will most likely benefit most from the bill. Some perhaps don't want anybody else to have the same deal as they have had ... why else are there now all these arguments made that those who could not afford health insurance [or were denied coverage for all kinds of reasons] are all, without exception, people who "have not worked for it." In other words, some people are more deserving to have access to health care than others? Where in the Constitution is such a "right" laid down??? Another ill-based argument against [actually a lie] is that all Canadians are fearful that "under the new reform" they will have nowhere to go for quality health care. I wonder how many Canadians could afford to be treated in the U.S. who are middle class? I would like to see those letters purported to warn us against health care reform. And to whom? Did they write to all those representatives who felt it incumbent on them to incite and provoke from the safety of the House chamber's balcony and the excellent health coverage the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT is providing them and their families with? All of us: take a deep breath, read the bill, and make it work for us!!! When we become too emotional or too hateful of something, we usually shoot ourselves in the foot. See before you shout and demonstrate how this bill will change your health care expectations [and expenses]. Given the one-year vigorous debate and exposition of all the concerns people have voiced, the bill that the Senate and now the House passed surely is better than what we have had so far. If it is not, then we are saying that all the criticism advanced during the past year was not advanced to address the real problem in our current health care system but to advance the cause of those with a particular political leaning. I hope this is not the case.

squier13, how will the Obamacare scam "make our country stronger"? By killing thousands of businesses, millions of jobs, our economy and our country?

Caterpillar said Obamacare would cost them more than 100 million the first year alone! To continue operating in spite of those additional costs, they will be forced to let people go or take their operations overseas.

Other businesses can anticipate the same problems. And as the remaining companies in the U.S. are barely making it, many will have to close or move to FREER countries.

As a result, millions of people are going to be left not only without insurance but without jobs. And the few lucky enough to have a job will become poor after paying for everyone else. That’s what happens in every commie country, as the country Obama and his comrades are trying to create in the U.S. with “help-the-poor” scams like Obamacare.

With "reform" like that, who needs health care?

Obama's signing the Obamacare scam will underscore the DEFEAT of the Democratic party. Up to this point, Obama and the Democrats have LOST and Republicans have WON.

"Winning" a la Hugo Chavez has lost Democrats the trust of the American people. "Winning" a la Hugo Chavez has only added to the stench previously generated by the Obamacare scam.

The stench of the lies, manipulation, intimidation, coercion, bribery, corruption, and backroom deals to force us to swallow the Obamacare SCAM -- which would destroy our health care, our economy, our freedoms and our country -- has forever tainted the Democratic Party and demonstrated the degree of corruption, bribery and fraud we can expect from Obama and his comrades.

More and more Americans understand there's no longer a Democratic Party. The Democratic Party has been replaced by the Progressive (Marxist) party, controlled by U.S. enemies like George Soros and bent on destroying America using the tactics of their mentor Saul Alinsky.

That's why Obama and the Democrats LOST. Honest Americans are more fired up than ever and ready to fight tyranny until FREEDOM is restored.

EarlC that's a great point, the pointless and destructive occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan are more expensive than this bill which will actually make our country stronger by helping millions of Americans.

What a wonderful day it will be, too. Republicans could have shared in the glory, but they went on strike. When you choose not to go to the dance, do not complain about those who go. The Republicans will be the big losers for at least one generation. Eventually, Americans, even in the red states will know that a truly conservative Republican Party that uses some brains rather than fearmongering will be the only salvation that they have. Until that day, vote Democratic. You will not be sorry.

If we survived eight years of W, why worry about what Republicans and teabaggers are saying sbout us? W sold us down the river. Preemptive war has cost and will continue to cost us big bucks for many years to come. Healthcare reform is certainly better than war any day. The benfits to Americans are priceless.
