Sarah Palin: God wrote on his hand too

At an Ohio Right to Life fundraiser Friday night, former Alaska governor Sarah Palin once again defended the notes she wrote on her hand during last month's Tea Party Convention. She said she didn't have a good answer to media criticism at the time, but now she has one: God did it too.

A supporter sent her the biblical passage Isaiah 49:16: "See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me."

"If what was good enough for God, scribbling on the palm of his hand, it's good enough for me, for us," Palin said. "In that passage he says, I wrote your name on the palm of my hand to remember you. And I'm like okay, I'm in good company."

Sarah Palin was right! God did write crib notes on His palm! Now the contents of His cheat sheet can be revealed! www.eightfits.blogspot.com

I have recently read some of these emails and I find it amusing how so many people are so transfixed on the President's use of a teleprompter. Who cares? Pres. Reagan used a teleprompter but he may have had an edge, after all he was a Hollywood actor before becoming President. Every Pres. has his own talents and his own perks. Get over it. Also if Sarah Palin is the next choice for President, we are certainly lowering our standards to negative 0. I thought she was credible until I heard her say Jesus wrote notes on His hand, for one who claims to be so religious, she should have known that had nothing to do with writing things he might forget, it had to do with Him dying on the cross for a sinful and ungrateful world. Jesus holds the whole world in His hands. Whoever told Palin to equate that to what she did surely wanted her to make a fool of herself. Jesus did not need to remember what to say, He knows what we are going to say before we say it and it must have pained Him to hear how Sarah Palin attempted to lower Him to earthly standards but He does forgive us for our sins. Who is paying this woman to speak, any high school freshman with a little bit of intelligence could top her rantings in a heartbeat.

I find Sarah Palin's comments regarding "writing on her hand" highly offensive. The scripture she is quoting refers to Christ and how he was nailed to the cross. THAT is the writing in his hand. Palin's comments trivializes the deep meaning of this scripture and makes it sound like God wrote a shopping list on his hand so He wouldn't forget something.

Sarah seems to absolutely fit the description of the "symptoms" of Narcissistic Personality Disorder, posted by Mayo Clinic online. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/narcissistic-personality-disorder/DS00652/DSECTION=symptoms. Copy and paste in your address line to access.
If that link is not interactive, simply Google "Narcissistic Personality Disorder", and choose the link for Mayo Clinic subheading "Symptoms".

This disorder becomes obvious when she overreacts to minor words spoken by others that she takes offense at, even when the speaker wasn't addressing the subject she perceives, i.e. "retard" and believing that the speaker was insulting all "special needs" children, and particularly her child. Please go to the link and read the complete list. I believe it absolutely describes her actions and interactions with others. I am so tired of her whiny, loud, screeching about anything that is not in line with her opinion. She really believes her opinion is the only one with any value.

The problem with stories like this and the rabid responses they receive--both right and left--is that they give a false sense of this woman's actual importance and make it seem like she is a legitimate, viable candidate for national leadership. Pretty much every recent poll (outside of biased Rasmussen) shows she is a non-issue and that up to 70% of the general population think she is unqualified to serve as president. Any other candidate with that same profile would be consigned to the shadows having to beg for scraps of media attention. She is a celebrity because we are making her one by acting like every silly utterance she makes is worthy of dissection and comment. This is not the case. Most of what she says is nothing more than the typical sort of shallow and content-light comments you might expect from your aunt or cousin. Would you waste your time arguing over those? Palin's talking points are simply manipulative, vapid and ignorant ramblings designed to bolster her own sense of her popularity. The fact that she is willing to deceive and divide her fellow citizens in order to convince herself of her popularity gives a clue to her true insecurity-driven ego-maniacal nature. If you want her to stop, then stop pretending she's important.

I think mindsweeper01 didn't realize who he was watching when he noted all that "stutter, stumble, avoid answering questions, have his facts confused, look away from the speaker when he knew he was caught or couldn't answer, outright lie and change the subject when the facts became too embarrassing. We watched him get angry, resentful, aloof, and rude because he knew he was lying and had been exposed."

That was Repub Natl Chairman Michael Steele. Geesh, can't you tell the difference YET?

mindsweeper01 - You weren't watching the same health care summit I was, because I watched him respond time after time with no difficulty. After the summit, independent fact checkers said the president had it right more often than the republicans did, that he spoke truth and facts much better than the right. The same scare tactics the right always tries to use but they get it wrong most of the time. The president has shown he can do very well without a teleprompter as he did when he went to the republican meeting and answered all they said without teleprompter, notes or pre-preparation. It's not like the republicans were going to feed him questions in advance like Palin always has to have or she won't play. She won't even let regular media into any of her events, no recording or cameras and she want $100,000.00 to speak. People that are paying that get so majorly ripped off. I wouldn't pay three dollars to hear her and tea partiers had to pay $349.00 to get in if they wanted to hear her at the tea party convention. Too much!

We watched Obama the great orator, at the health care summit without his teleprompters, stutter, stumble, avoid answering questions, have his facts confused, look away from the speaker when he knew he was caught or couldn't answer, outright lie and change the subject when the facts became too embarrassing. We watched him get angry, resentful, aloof, and rude because he knew he was lying and had been exposed. All Americans should be shuddering at this amateur, incompetent performance. He should try writing what he doesn't know on his hands, but then his hands would have to be about the size of a football field.

WHAT A PUTZ!!!!! Here's what happens when she doesn't write things on her hand:

Palin, in a speech Saturday night, according to the Calgary, (Alberta) Herald.
Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin, a fierce opponent of Democratic health-care reform efforts who has said America under President Obama is headed toward socialism told a Canadian audience her family used to go to Canada to get medical care when she was growing up.

"My first five years of life we spent in Skagway, Alaska, right there by Whitehorse. Believe it or not -- this was in the '60s -- we used to hustle on over the border for health care that we would receive in Whitehorse. I remember my brother, he burned his ankle in some little kid accident thing and my parents had to put him on a train and rush him over to Whitehorse and I think, isn't that kind of ironic now. Zooming over the border, getting health care from Canada," Palin said a speech Saturday night, according to the Calgary Herald.

EXCEPT THAT

In 2007, the Skagway News:

Palin drew from her Skagway past to illustrate her point. Her brother burned his foot badly jumping through a fire, and her mother had to take him down to Juneau on the ferry to the hospital. “All these years later, that’s still what people have to rely on here in some instances,” she said.

It is difficult to decipher whether this creature is dumber than she is a liar, or the opposite.

To compare Palin writing notes on her hand with Obama's skill as an orator is more than ludicrous. You fools cannot think of anything more trivial than his skillful use of a Teleprompter.

I don't suppose you tuned into his thrashing of the GOP at their weak-end conference. There was no Teleprompter at that or the Bi-party conference where again he took on the entire Republican leadership which I admit is not too difficult, particularly when their entire vocabulary consists of one word, NO.

The evil empire and their plan of Fear.

See rebart- this is the reason. Sarah Palin had just spent 45 minutes railing against President Obama because he uses a teleprompter when giving long speeches, you know, like 60-70 minutes. But Palin is incapable of remembering three words for a supposed Q&A session that she was obviously pre-fed the questions to? She can't remember what is supposed to be the core principles of her politics and she castigates the president for using a teleprompter? Which every president has used since they became available. Maybe you don't think the president has any better things to do than work on memorizing his speech? It takes work to do so and time. Time is something that is in short supply in a presidents day. Very short supply. Of course, Sarah Palin would have no real knowledge of this because she has never really worked a real day. She always has some flunky to do the real work that she then takes credit for. She has done it that way all the years I have known her.

It is the true conservatives that have been MOST embarrassed and
distance themselves farthest from Sarah Palin
ever since the Double Talk progressive centrist John McCain
first picked her out of his unvetted --- hat.

Sarah Palin is STILL just a sideshow circus act to any real politics though.

Palin tries to base her foreign policy experience on that Russia can
be seen from Alaska . . . THAT makes Sarah NO expert on the Kremlin.

Supreme Court cases . . . Palin can NOT name ANY . . .
- her BAILOUT SUPPORT comments were embarrassingly incoherent
and just became more material for SNL, along with Palin's
cutesy remarks and *wink* during the VP debate . . . uggh.
We ALL needed her doling out of "extra credit" for enduring having to watch Palin.

Talk about petty criticism. People write notes on their hand all the time. My wife is a nurse and they sometimes have to write a note on their hand or arm when they have nothing else. So, what's the big deal, at least she doesn't need a teleprompter.

Only the completely brainwashed Obama worshippers would compare him to a real orator like Reagan. Every other word out of Obama's mouth is a "uh", "mm", or something else as "intelligent". Of course, we can see the intellectual of his worshippers by the ignorant, foul-mouthed posts we see here.

And guess what? You, if you pay any taxes, and the rest of us are footing the bill. Why, for instance does he have to take this entire entourage on the road to the midwest to give a 30 minute pep talk which is carried nationwide by cable TV. He could get the same results broadcasting from the Rose Garden and save us all a lell of a lot of money!

Although I disagree with Palin about God, since I'm an atheist. Nonetheless, she is right to support an unborn baby's RIGHT TO LIFE.

A homicidal parent should have no more "right" to murder her unborn offspring as she has to do so after it has been born.

We live in a crazy irrational society, that allows a woman to murder her baby over 8 months after conception. Yet she will be charged with murdering a baby only 5 months after conception, if it has been born prematurely by Caesarean.

Further, in many states it is considered murder if someone assaults a pregnant woman and causes the baby to die.

So what sense does it make to allow a woman to hire a doctor [violating the Hippocratic Oath to do no harm] like a mafia hit-man to "off" her kid BRUTALLY. Ripping its tiny arms and legs off, and crushing its skull, then suctioning out the dismembered corpse.

Anatole France, a noted philosopher, etc. said that how civilized a society is can be shown by how well it protects its most vulnerable and helpless. On that basis ours is certainly NOT a very civilized society, is it?

To the horror of the rational world Palin has a lot of US supporters. eg. In 8 separate Gallup polls over the last 25 years ~44% of US respondents claimed that the earth was less than 10,000 years old and that evolution didn`t(isn`t)happen(happening.

Between a Congress controlled by AIPAC (eg. the invasion of IRAQ ; the 125 UN vetos used by the USA to squelch UN General Assembly resolutions condemning Israel for war crimes, etc.)and the silly evangelical Xians wagging the GOP dog; there is not much hope for the "shining city on the hill". Poor Sarah: Give a girl a quote to help her cheat and she even screws that up. If you go to the passage in Isaiah 49:16, the phrase before her quote 49:14 identifies the person who makes the "I have engraved you. . ." is identified as "Zion Says" not God. In yet another one of Isaiah's ranting complaints about how screwed up the Republican Party, I mean the dispersed and destroyed Jewish People have become and how we all remember how good it used to be, Isaiah recounts an imagined conversation with Zion and God that while in captivity if the children are taught the way of Zion they will someday return to rebuild Jerusalem. That's why Zion says that he has graven the image on the palms of his hands. The lines in your palms resemble the Hebrew characters for the word Zion! Not that God wrote on his hands. Check out the Hebrew writing for Zion then look at your palms. It even looks like the Hebrew characters that make up the Hebraic translation for the word temple! That is the beauty of those who think that everything in the Bible is the word of God, divinely inspired here and there maybe, but all written for men about man by men. Occasionally inspired by historic figures and events, but basically loaded with allegory, legend and lore. So much for Caribou Barbie's excellent Wilderness adventure. She can't even check the Bible references intended to save her. The ultra conservatives don't want her sideshow act, only the evangelicals and charismatics want her to keep on playing the Tent Show version of Joan of Arc from Juneau. This reality show is running on empty, someone pull the plug!

Why is it that Republicans are drawn to dumb and dumber politicians, as exemplified to the nth degree by Ms Palin (see also: Bush, Quayle, even Reagan who, though a great communicator, was not an intellectual heavyweight). Surely there are some bright, thoughtful, energetic, articulate advocates of true Party mantra. Sadly, some of the more articulate options are vipers (Cheney), obstructionists (McConnell), blatherers (Boehner). But it is the downright fools like Palin that concern me the most

C'mon Republicans, give me a reason and a candidate I can support, not this mindless, pandering, vacuous and inane poster child for the ineffectiveness of America's third tier colleges. And then abandon the "God is my running buddy" religious rhetoric; after all, how on earth would Sarah Palin know "what's good enough for God".

True conservatives like Ike - who gave us a strident warning about

THE true core GOP fiscal conservatives would never sacrifice lives or

I do not fear Sarah Palin. She is a narcissist and a golddigger. She will never run for President. She would be shown as the lightweight she is at the first Republican debate. What amuses me is how the right thinks she is down to earth and just like them. So you all were pregnant before you married, got religion, had pregnant teen daughters, got pregnant yourselves at 44, knew you had an at-risk pregnancy yet flew to Texas at 8 months, starting leaking fluid, gave your speech (from a prompter, folks) got back on a plane, then another, then drove an hour for the hospital that didn't have an NIC unit. Right. These are the actions of a rational, caring woman, who hoped her pregnancy would end, but didn't have the honesty to have an abortion.
And she is such a model mother that she spends weeks away from her kids, or worse, pulls them out of school to use them as props. And by the way, Ms."just like me" was a millionaire BEFORE McCain tapped her, and is a multimillionaire know, which makes me think that her supporters are also wealthy, white, and male. We'll see how much support she has when the looks start to fade.

I can't help but laugh at all the lefty-libs-Democrats (sorry for being so redundant) who bring up "intellect" as an attempt to ridicule Palin.

First, though she may not be a certified genius (140+ IQ), she is indeed an intelligent person (unlike many who post the hate-filled comments against her).

Second, 0bama is currently in the process of proving that high intellect is not only NOT a pre-req for the Presidency, in his case, it is probably HURTING things ("I know so much more than everyone else, I don't have to listen to them" as he leads the country straight down the tubes).

Think of the President as a quarterback. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to be a good, effective quarterback, but you need a skill set that most people don't have: the ability to identify opposition strategy and quickly come up with alternative methods of attack, knowing the responsibilities of ALL the other positions so you can make the proper play-calling decisions without having everyone run into each other, anticipating what routes your receivers will take as they meet up with the defensive backs covering them, etc.

Basically, it takes good instincts to be quarterback, and it takes good instincts to be President. 0bama does not have those instincts, but Palin does. That is why she was so successful as mayor and governor, and 0bama is such a flop in his only managerial job in his lifetime.

Unfortunately, We The People have to pay the price for this OJT failure.

I never understood why leftists always call conservatives "haters" when all you see is vitriol, name-calling, lies and race-baiting from the left. Look at all the nastiness and perpetuation of lies and half-truths told here on this comment page. It is amazing how hypocritical people can be. And why do they conveniently forget that it the Democrat party that wanted to keep slavery, supported Jim Crow laws, comprised most of the KKK, and created post Civil Rights policies that perpetuated poverty and destroyed the nuclear family of people of color. Just look at all the big cities that have been governed (ruled?) by democrats for generations...abject poverty and horrific crime is the result. And they have the gall to call the right hateful and racist? Wake up folks...you have been lied to for years.

You don't even know what a "neocon" is!! First of all, you are either conservative or you aren't. The term "neocon" is merely a self-description (you don't usually call someone else a neocon)...The term is used by some former radical leftists and communists that say they changed their views. Look it up before you make yourself look any sillier.

A lot of people seem to have forgotten what it was the Ms. Palin wrote on her hand that day. It was crib notes reminding her WHAT HER PRIMARY TALKING POINTS WERE. (You can look it up if you don't believe me.) In other words, she was incapable of even remembering what it is she is supposed to be standing for.

There was a time when conservatives had some spokespersons with real intellectual gravitas. I may have disagreed with virtually everything William F. Buckley believed, but I had to respect his intellect. That the GOP is now represented by a bunch of ignorant know-nothings is clear evidence of just how far they have fallen.

Posted by: topperale | March 7, 2010 7:19 PM | Report abuse

Obviously flustered by the attention being thrown on her, Sarah Palin was not able to answer questions about why she wrote notes on her palm. But days later, she miraculously found the answer, no doubt handed to her by a conservative strategist: "Tell them that God did it too".

What disgusts me is that Palin, instead of being honest or at least sincere by saying that she was worried she might screw up during her talk, instead quickly took this advice, and then assumed the mantle of someone blessed as "the one" having the endorsement of God.

Further, she showed that she has no problem with using religion to advance her political fortunes, which is nothing but utter sacrilege to the moral and spiritual meaning of the Word of God.

Palin proves herself as someone willing to soil the meaning of christianity and benevolence in order to enrich herself. This is the lowest form of existence, exhibiting no moral fiber or moral compass.

First, saywhat14 repeats the myth that Obama used a teleprompter when addressing a grammar school class (http://www.aolnews.com/the-point/article/what-the-obama-school-teleprompter-photos-really-show/19330300)

As for the compulsive need to make Palin more heroic, which r_loveland clearly feels, Palin's teleprompter did not break down and she did not give her speech by or from the heary at the Republican convention in 2008(http://www.politico.com/blogs/jonathanmartin/0908/The_teleprompter_did_not_break.html))

A year and a half ago, she took a political unknown and carried him to within seven points of the guy she said was too inexperienced to even be considered. Why, almost a quarter of Republicans think she should be president at some point. Not their first choice at any foreseeable future point, but a possibility.

Certainly every red blooded American will thrill at the video of her primary spiritual advisor casting out demons from our electoral process. And how can you rebut someone whose position on pretty much everything changes from day to day, or at least those things on which she has a position that isn't simply garbled random sound bites.

What can you say about the women who achieved the political nirvana of having the SNL parody of her TV interview be one of the most watched video's in YouTube history and being 55% unaltered quotes from her answers – the human being who made "mavericky" a household word.

A. Sarah Palin, (1) who now thinks she and God, like-mindedly do the same things, (2) who thinks God chose her to be VP and President of the US, (3) who now thinks that she is solely qualified to re-teach the entire US about morality, integrity, and Governmental & International policy.

OR:

B. Rod Blagojevich, (1) who thinks he is blacker than Barack Obama, (2) whoe compares himself to God, Gandhi, Winston Churchill, and MLK, (3) who is likely to be in prison within the next year.

Such anger on the Left for Sarah Palin. Even when she jokes and makes fun of herself for writing on her hand. As for those who claim she's too dumb to remember three things, I recall when her teleprompter broke down at the RNC convention, she made the entire speech from memory... or from her heart.

You won't see that from President Obama. He doesn't seem able to string together an intelligent paragraph without his trusty teleprompter... along with the person behind the scenes typing in the messages.

She is allowing herself to be used by men who are trying to manipulate women. She doesn't seem to be interested in investing time and energy into educating herself on current affairs or on the affairs of the constituents she wants to represent. She seems very caught up in the moment and is more than willing to capitalize on her situation for the benefit of her and her family. I could never trust Sarah Palin to do what is right for me or any other woman.

Nancy Pelosi on the other hand has been vilified for being everything Sarah Palin isn't. She is a strong assertive female who is intelligent and hard working. Men hate her because she is effective. Sarah Palin and Republican Party politics have nothing to do with God, Jesus, or the redemption He promises. They need to get God out of the discussion, for they are using him for their own political and financial ends, and that is un-Christian.

Yonkers, New York

Sarah Palin absolutely has no problem comparing herself to the Christian [or Jewish?] God, as far as the ability to remember is concerned.

Probably without intending to, in effect she is telling those adoring tea partygoers in particular, and conservatives in general, that God is not that intelligent after all. Could he be suffering from Alzheimer's, too?

I can imagine that if one day she gets lucky and is President of these United States, and she has to deliver her first State-of-the-Union speech, she will need to cover not only both hands with notes but also her right and left forearms!

"Blessed are the peacekeepers, for they will be called the children of God..." I am not highly religious, but I have always felt uplifted by this biblical passage. It is a passage I wish every member of congress would repeat daily. What is our country becoming? Why don't we walk this walk? I am constantly reading the angst posted by bloggers from both the left and right, although the right seems to be more intolerant. Which is odd to me because the right is supposedly more aligned with Christianity and godly values. I see so much tearing down of each other and so much expression of hatred and intransigence, a complete unwillingness to compromise. We are a country divided, and it seems to be getting worse. The political messages have become so negative, and our youth are turned off by it. Our goals should always be to improve ourselves and build things up and convey positive attitudes. Let's all take a deep breath and let clear heads prevail. We've got to stop festering all this bitterness. We live in a great country with so much potential. How can we possibly be bitter? Are we really that spoiled?

Palin and Kate Gosselin ought to get together and discuss child care. Both are nothing more than publicity seeking women with self-serving ambition. Palin has two more daughters that need to be taught how not to have babies out of wedlock and then pretend that they are not like other young girls who do so. Both have husbands who don't have jobs, so maybe they should spend their time getting their husbands to support them and their children.
Neither represent the average working Mother, in that they now have others to take care of their kids, clean their houses, cook their meals, wash their clothes, etc, etc, etc.
I think God would ask both, why aren't you home taking care of your children. They come first, not you.

So now she's comparing herself to God. That is dangerous ground and I don't think that a Christian, God fearing person would do that. Now if they are a mental case like she is that would maybe make a difference. She seems to have to dig a deeper hole to try to get out of the last hole she dug. That is a bad sign. After you dig so deep, as she will eventually have to, the hole starts caving in on you and buries you.
