Biden on The View: Obama laughed 'like the devil' at F-bomb

President Obama was "laughing like the devil" when Joe Biden was caught calling health-care reform a "big f--ing deal" last month, the vice president told "The View" on Thursday morning. "I was just thankful my mother couldn't hear it. It was a little embarrassing," Biden said. "I realized there was a microphone, I just had no idea it was that sensitive."

More seriously, Biden said the White House was "not talking about" a national sales tax. no. "The president said he was open to listening about that," he added. "Look. we've set up a commission, a fiscal commission that is designed, bipartisan, it's going to report after the November elections back to us, to say that this is what we recommend how to get control of the long-term deficit."

Biden also declared that the U.S. has a plan to deal with Iran, in response to a New York Times report suggesting Defense Secretary Robert Gates thought otherwise. Biden said the characterization of Gates' leaked memo "was inaccurate."

"It does not reflect what the memo said. I've read the memo. I know it. Actually, before we took office, one of the first things we did in putting together our national security team was come up with a game plan as to how to deal with Iraq -- excuse me -- Iran's effort to get a nuclear weapon. We have clearly -- we know exactly what we're doing."

Asked about former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, Biden said, "If you meet her, she is a charming person" -- a sentiment he's expressed before.

Oh Lordy Lordy! Coarse language was uttered! Somebody get the fainting couch out. I need some pearls to clutch.

This is the first time someone has ever dropped an F-Bomb in politics EVER. It's not like a former vice president once told a political opponent to go eff himself on the senate floor. That never ever happened.

Of course he did.

He is the same sort of piece of Obama that Biden is.

Shameful, lying, manipulating garbage.

Ohhh, but, this is CHANGE! And HOPE!

Just more gutter trash.

You couldn't have seen or heard what happened once they were out of the camera's view. They could very well have had a good laugh once there wasn't any further need for decorum. Personally, I thought that Paul Krugman's comparison of FDR's New Deal to Obama's Big F***ing Deal was hilarious.

Its all in the interpretation.
English= "President Obama was "laughing like the devil" when Joe Biden was caught calling health-care reform a "big f--ing deal" last month"
Conservative= Biden proclaims Obama is the Anti Christ

Joe Biden was talking about using the "F" word. Whatever.

So why would we need to know his opinion of Sarah Palin?

Uh...it was funny as hell. It was also totally true.

Oh my god this is the worst thing ever
THE WORST THING EVER
How dare someone who wasn't even born in America laugh at the english shorthand for carnal crimes from the middle ages!

I'm so angry I'm going to go home and listen to my favorite conservative mouthpieces as they tell me what to do next. Then I'm gonna dress up like an overweight Thomas Jefferson and make some terrible pun on a poster!

WAKE UP AMERICA!

He said Obama was laughing as they got into the car go to the next event after his secretary told him what happened. Jeez, did you even listen to the clip?

Posted by: TomR3 | April 22, 2010 3:47 PM | Report abuse

When did Obama allegedly laugh or even smile? The look on his face says "great, everyone will hear that. Good going, ya doofus."

Posted by: chunche | April 22, 2010 2:28 PM | Report abuse

Well obviously he laughed like the devil because he is the anti-Christ!

palin is surely delightful as long as you don't have to listen to her or live near her...

As far as a VAT is concerned -- a bad bad bad idea. Regressive taxation of the poor is counterproductive, unAmerican, and immoral.

Biden is a front pew Catholic. Hope he goes to confession.

Do we care about Joe Biden's salty language? Isn't this post more akin to what one would find on Drudge or something? Shameful...

I swear, embarrassing the President must be in the current Vice President's job description. The last couple have sure done a good job of that.

Oh great. Now the Right Wing Lunatic Tea Baggers will be claiming Biden just proved that Obama is the Devil.

This country really needs mandatory mental health screening.

nickwallmark -
I couldn't agree more. I love Biden simply because he tells the truth the way it is. Politicians all around could learn a lot from him.

We've all seen the video. Obama must have been laughing on the inside.

Oh, that Joe! What zany antics will he be upto next?

Posted by: kitchendragon50 | April 22, 2010 12:39 PM | Report abuse

Joe Biden is the best thing to happen to politics in a LONG time. When your biggest liability as a politician is you constantly "slip up" and tell the plain truth, it reflects more on the rest of those idiots (on both sides of the aisle) rather than him as an individual.

Uh oh. Obama "laughed like the devil"? Is this going to be the next big thing to excite the wingnut noise machine? Positive proof that the president is the devil himself, or the Antichist, or something else scary out of the Book of Revelation? Sigh.

re: "Biden, in addition to being a cheap leech is a dumbas$, just like his incompetent boss. Both are just stupid clowns who would be humerous to watch if their actions weren't so detrimental to our country. Apparently Obiden right at home with the hateful airhead liberals on the program."

It's "humorous". Learn how to spell. And it's bad form to use a $1 word like "humorous" when a 10 cent word like "funny" works as well or better. Personal criticism sucks, huh?

Re LarryG62's Comments....

Let's not be so partisan; when BushII was caught calling someone a few years ago an expletive, I'm sure you weren't as vocal.

Healthcare is a 'big f####ing deal' whether you agree with it or not. (I do, by the way, though not in it's watered down form...)

Besides, Obama has gotten a lot done. If you don't feel so, I look forward to seeing you at the polls this November....

Maybe you can vote for someone you can believe in, instead of resorting to silly rhetoric...
