Al and Tipper Gore to separate after 40 years of marriage

After forty years of marriage, Al and Tipper Gore are separating, the couple announced in an e-mail to friends Tuesday morning.

"This is very much a mutual and mutually supportive decision that we have made together following a process of long and careful consideration," the former vice president and his wife said in the email first reported by Politico. "We ask for respect for our privacy and that of our family, and we do not intend to comment further." Gore's spokeswoman later confirmed the validity of the e-mail.

The news stunned many political watchers -- the duo's mutually affectionate manner on the campaign trail did much to enliven Al Gore's stuffy image -- but also good friends.

I guess it became too much for her to take that not only is he committing fraud to line his billion dollar pockets against the American taxpayers, but she also finally figured out he was gay. She is smart for getting out before she lands in prison along side him,Holder, Obama, Blagojevick, Emanuel, Axelrod, Resko, Durbin, Jarrett, and the rest of the crooks. I see 2013 with a lot of prosecutions coming about. This country can't continue being robbed by these crooks. We will never get our money back that they stole and is still stealing and hiding it overseas with their Muslim buddies who funds their campaigns in the worst illegal wasy. How many of us are still receiving multiple census forms to again rig the election and Holder doing nothing about the crimes being committed because he is a part of the crimes. We desperately have to get an Independent investigation with the theft that is going on here and overseas. When Obama campaigned on wealth distributin, his supporters who installed him were dumb to think any of it was to be distributed to them. All they got was crumbs to make fools out of them. The real money has disappeared and will never be seen again, but the bill we will have to pay will go on for many years to come. You can claim he himself didn't tell you in all his speaches. He more than just hinted what his intentions were on many occassions. I wonder if "Peggy the Moocher" still believes the black man is going to pay her mortgage, utilities, gas, telelphone bills, and groceries she assumed he meant the night they were celebrating about the new change. I don't quiet think the change he is making included her or the other installers. Americans had better get ready to protect themselves because at this moment the Muslims are overtaking this country and the illegal Mexicans have broke this country. Obama and his radical friends don't want the borders closed and they refuse to pass the federal laws that prohibits illegals from flowing over by the tens of thousand every day. California has already set up to pay for illegal edcucation while our own is suffering in enormous proportions. We have to pay dearly for ours out of the lower incomes we get while they get theirs for free. The Americans and their liberal media is helping them with everything they can muster up. Our schools are teaching lies to our children to go along with their agenda and it is being paid for with our taxdollars.

Sad, but at least the Gores are going about it in a dignified manner. Can't say the same for some of the posters here.

I also find it interesting how many people are criticizing Al Gore’s efforts to find sustainable energy sources when the BP oil spill has gone unabated and has been declared the most devastating environmental disaster in our country’s history.

Al Gore pickup lines now that he's got a beach pad. "Hey honey. Wanna see how wooden I can be?"
"Wanna see my hanging chad back at my place?"
"Facebook that's nothing. I invented the Internet."

Marriage is sooo hard. After a long number of years together, I myself struggle even though I am married to a very good, kind man. I am sure he struggles, too. I cannot imagine the strains that the Gores have had to endure over such a long union. I wish them only the best, whether I like them or their politics. They are people and deserve respect.
What, may I ask, does their weight have to do with anything? Only small-minded, shallow people think along those lines.

Maybe Tipper was simply bored. In any case, no one has yet explained why America loaned one of Al Bore's companies, $500,000,000 to build a factory in Finland which will produce electric cars at $89,000 a car. At least, it wasn't a grant, but I doubt the U.S. will see that money any time soon. And, in case you missed it, Big Al just purchased a multimillion dollar property on the West Coast where his syncophants live.

Really bad after 40 years of marriage. Tipper may have wanted for both of them to retire & sit back & do things together, rather then running all over the world talking his bull. He is so convinced he is right about global warming even after the scientists said it is not true. I have notice the last couple of pictures I saw of him that he has taking off a lot of weight or else they were really old pictures. The man is so arrogant that he never thinks he can be wrong & does not like anybody calling him out on it. He is in that 1% along with Soros that Hillary thinks should pay more taxes. I wonder if her & Bill are going to share their wealth?
Al Gore is one man that has always been arrogant & egotistical but has become worse lately. He has stuck it to a lot of fellow Americans & the rest of the world to make him disgustingly rich. When Obama asked the other day when is enough enough?
Was he referring to Al Gore, Oprah, George Soros, etc. or are they exempt? I did not realize that Gore had been talking about a One World Order since 2006. Maybe before? Maybe he is planning to take over dictatorship after Obama leaves office? In my opinion Al Gore hates America & Americans just like Obama. They both are trying to move completely away from the Constitution. These Progressives that believe in international world order need to get out of our lives & out of our country. We are a sovereign nation. Remember that. I am curious if Gore will be living in the new California home & Tipper will be living in the Tennessee home. I became really mad at her about getting involved with the music business & although I agree with her about the words used in some music, you cannot stifle free speech. But how she has put up with this man who has got the personality of a turtle.

"And it was Al's father, Al Gore Senior, who together with Robert Byrd who fillibustered the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

But I guess a lot of folks didn't know that......"

And I know at least one guy who doesn't know that what Al Gore Sr did in 1964 is irrelevant to a item about the marriage of Al Gore Jr.

And that same guy for some reason doesn't know that Al Gore Sr voted FOR the Voting Rights Act of 1965, and that it was that vote that cost him his Senate seat FIVE years later.

Whoever that guy is, he sure is stupid. He thinks he's smart, but he knows so little.

Perhaps the reason so many comments here are sarcastic and even nasty is that Al Gore so sanctimoniously wants all of us to change our entire lifestyle based on his very flawed "evidence" while personally living as the ultimate hypocrite: his giant, energy-wasting mansion, his limos to take him a short hop from hotel to cinema in Cannes, etc. Remember: this is the same Al Gore raised from boyhood to be a fake politician (the famous photo of his senator father and mother saying goodnight to him outside their apartment door while he was wearingf his little cowboy or Indian pajamas ... with a phoitiographer who just hapopened to be there at that moment! He's been a fraud from his earliest days. Perhaps Tipper finally found out what a fraud and hypocrit he is--or perhaps he caught her buying an incandescent light bulb.

Inquiring minds want to know the real story behind this break up...:-) I am sure it has something to do with an "inconvenient truth" Al Gore does not want us to know about...;-) I bet when it comes out it will be the same old tired cliche : Older man meets younger woman - wife finds out - gets upset - man admits he does not love wife any more - they split - then a few weeks later the man is seen with beautiful young woman - then they live happily thereafter..:-)....Forgive me but that is all just wild speculation on my part..>;) I still love the Gore's - together or apart..:-)..But if it turns out to be true just remember you heard it here first..:-)

Sorry to hear about this split, especially after 40 years of marriage. I remember them as one of the ultimate power couples in Washington in the 1980s and 90s. They were conservative Dems back then who tried to bring back some semblance of dignity to American culture. I'm as conservative as it gets, and I certainly don't agree with their more recent liberal politics, but I feel no need to engage in schadenfreude.

Somebody needs to get the AP to clarify this -- it implies that Al won an Oscar for the movie, which isn't true. Only the producer, David Guggenheim, did. Melissa Etheridge I think also got one for the music, but Al was not an Oscar recipient.

Sad news regardless. I always liked this couple. I hope there's nothing salacious involved.

Also, some of us believe that if you don't try to interfere in or comment on my private life, I have no business interfering in or commenting on yours. So, since the Gores leave other people alone because they happen to believe in the Ten Commandments and all the other great examples of how to treat other people that the far right ignores because it's a group of lying hypocrites, I think I'll leave the Gores alone.
