Bill Clinton gets the good election news in Colombia

By Karen Tumulty
One of the biggest winners in Tuesday night's primary battles wasn't even in the country when he got the news.

Former President Bill Clinton--whose vigorous support was a major factor in Sen. Blanche Lincoln's victory in their shared home state of Arkansas--was in Colombia on election night. He is on a four-country swing through South America, visiting development projects in impoverished areas that have been started by Clinton Giustra Sustainable Growth Initiative.

But Clinton being Clinton, he was getting a steady feed of election results through the office of his counselor Doug Band.

Band emailed that the former President spoke to Lincoln, and congratulated her for beating back a strong runoff challenge from Lt. Gov. Bill Halter and his alliance of labor and liberal groups that had targeted the Arkansas Senator for defeat.

Clinton "had an even better night than Strasburg," quipped one former top aide in the Clinton White House, referring to the Washington Nationals' pitching sensation Stephen Strasburg, who piled up 14 strikeouts in his first major league outing.

But while Clinton may deserve a bit of personal satisfaction for the vindication of his own brand of centrist politics, he's holding off a bit on claiming his bragging rights.

"He was happy for her and for the nation," Band wrote. "He believes she has worked hard for people of Arkansas and this country. They are old and close friends."

Well remember when Obama told Rep Barry of AR in the winter that “2010 will not be as bad as 1994 because this time they have me”. implying he has better coat-tails than Clinton. looks like the opposite is true. Bill Clinton is the 1 who will keep 2010 from being as bad as 1994. Check out my Bill Clinton blog

It is rather difficult to decide who is worse: the radical, liberal progessives like Clinton who stepped in for 'an assist' in Lincoln's campaign or the corrupt, union thugs such as SEIU, MOVE-ON.org who purchased their own candidate! Just saying!

The Nation will receive the good news when Blanche loses in November to a Republican who are leading in the polls by 20 points.

Here is a great website on what needs to be done to start cutting the size of government:
