Bill Clinton back in the White House, holds economic meeting with Obama

Updated 2:54 p.m.
By Anne E. Kornblut
Burdened by low approval on the economy, President Obama brought former president Bill Clinton and investor Warren Buffett to the White House on Wednesday to talk about job creation.

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs denied that Clinton -- who oversaw record surpluses and was generally seen as business-friendly -- was brought in to mediate between business leaders and Obama, now under fire from corporate leaders for his economic policies.

This week, the US Chamber of Commerce issued a harsh letter complaining that the White House is burdening businesses with too much regulation and hampering job growth.

"Do I think they speak monolithically for business? No," Gibbs said of the Chamber.

On Wednesday, the White House also responded directly to the Chamber. "We were surprised and disappointed by the rhetoric we have heard from some in the business community," White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel and Valerie Jarrett wrote in a letter addressed to the Chamber. "While we may not agree on every single issue, we should always remember that there is much we agree on and that we are all working towards the same goal of putting American back to work and getting our economy back on track," they wrote.

Clinton, whose foundation is working on clean energy programs that would employ additional workers, and Buffett met with Obama as part of a White House push on the economy and employment. On Tuesday, Obama tapped Jacob Lew as budget director and publicly directed him to reduce the deficit. On Thursday, Obama travels to Michigan to talk job creation once more.

Gibbs said the timing of the two Wednesday meetings was coincidental, and that Buffett initiated their sit-down.

"You don't turn down an opportunity to talk to Warren Buffett," Gibbs said. Buffett has been an Obama supporter and adviser since backing him in the 2008 primaries.

The Clinton meeting was designed to "discuss new ways to create jobs in the private sector and continue to build on the success we have seen through the Recovery Act on building public-private partnerships in the clean energy sector," a White House statement said.

The Post Office was almost out of Voter Registration forms yesterday when it was incumbent to change registration to reflect unwillingness to be considered a party to Obamites. One was enough.

President Clinton is held in high regard and it would be a shame for him to fritter way his own reputation, much less the future options for Sen Clinton [who should be in the WH but for the horrific management of her campaign] by whoring for Obama. Elsewhere on this site, it is reported that "white voters" are departing this sinking ship.

Obama has given "photo shoot" new reference: poses as "thoughtful," "perplexed ... thinkin' thinkin' .. and again!; "fed up;" "angry;" "determined;" careful posturing.

This is the GRG strategy of the WH: "Get-Ready-Go." He brought a bunch of bozoes on board; he panders to the alternate sexual lifestyles and their outrageous demands for confirmation of "normalcy;" despite rising incidence of HIV/AIDS that is a suggestion of irresponsible conduct, and a high percentage among those African Americans. Michelle grows veges and fight obesity.

No time for the economy, the victims homeless and unemployed; issues related to BP and the responsibility for that oil gusher in the golf; the "Health Reform" package is yet to unfold and disgorge the fatal flaws; the finance reform likely ditto!

President Clinton: Disengage! It is over!!! Relief just months away.

Clinton at the White House for what ? Sounds more like a damage control summit. I remember Mr. Clinton saying on more than one occasion how " his daddy " would be proud to see the first black president. Doubt he'd still feel that way if he could see this first black presidents report card.

After the disrespect Obama showed former President Clinton and Hillary during the Primary campaign, I wouldn't have blamed either of them to not only tell Obama "no" but "HELL NO" to his politically expedient use of both their talents and time. After all, it was Obama who nixed Hillary's potential appointment as his VP because he didn't want Bill around -- might upstage him you know ...

What a disgrace this whole mess has become.

""You don't turn down an opportunity to talk to Warren Buffett," Gibbs said. Buffett has been an Obama supporter and adviser since backing him in the 2008 primaries."

Another B--S line from Gibbs.

Buffet has been available since the beginning. Buffet has been criticizing Obama's policies on CNBC since Obama was elected. Buffet asked why is Obama "cramming this other stuff down our throats" when the economy needs full attention.

Buffet finally got that full dose of V-i-a-g-r--a, has found his manhood, and is now speaking up for his convictions instead of playing a PR game (after criticizing every Obama policy, Buffet said "I support the President 100%") which sent the wrong message to Obama.

Congratulations Warren. Isn't modern medicine wonderful?

This is the equivalent of crying uncle.

Bringing in a Clinton to "fix" will absolutely bring another Clinton to the campaign trail to "do it right"...

It's gonna be ugly.

"concernedaboutdc" is a typical, arrogant, cool-aid drinker. No substance, no constructive input...just call people names and expect them to come to your "common ground". Hopefully on election day you'll get run over by a car or better yet, a short bus...and we won't have to suffer from the outcome of your vote!

Cut taxes, cut spending! Revenue goes up every time! Raise taxes, increase spending...always a reliable recipe for failure. GOVERNMENT DOESN'T CREATE JOBS unless they are jobs working for the Government. The private sector creates jobs when they are not being overburdened with taxes and regulations! Maybe if we had a President who actually had some experience doing something other than getting people together to demand their handouts from the Government, we might not be in the mess that we're in.

Who is Barney Frank? What Happen
By Vasko Kohlmayer
"As Congress grapples with solutions for a faltering economy, Barney Frank sits at the center of power."

Thus wrote John Gallagher in The Advocate as our government officials desperately struggled to limit the fallout from the unfolding financial crisis.

Gallagher is right. As Chairman of the Financial Service Committee in the US House of Representatives, Barney Frank plays a crucial role in determining in what ways much of the bailout and stimulus money is spent. This is because the committee over which he presides oversees the housing and banking sectors, two industries that are at the center of the current economic crisis. But Frank's power and influence extend beyond his chairmanship of the important Financial Services Committee. Outspoken, smart and forceful, Frank has emerged as one of the heavyweights in the Democrat-led House and as such instrumental in shaping its course and agenda. There are some who think that his behind-the-scenes influence exceeds even that of Nancy Pelosi. Whether or not this is so, there can be no doubt that Barney Frank is currently one of the most powerful politicians in the country.

Given his present position of influence, taxpayers may want to learn more about the background of the man who directs how hundreds of billions of dollars of their money is spent.

Barnett "Barney" Frank was first elected to Congress in 1981 at the age of forty-one from Massachusetts' 4th district. Six years later he made national news when he publicly declared his homosexuality. By that admission he became the first openly gay member of the House of Representatives.

In 1991, Barney Frank received an official reprimand for reflecting "discredit upon the House." The reprimand came as a result of his relationship with a man named Steve Gobi, a male prostitute whom Frank initially paid $80 for sex. Frank later took Gobi to live with him in his home, making him a personal aide. He paid him $20,000 in compensation (unreported to the IRS) and let him use his car. Subsequent investigation revealed that in the course of their relationship, Frank used his congressional office and stationary to fix Gobi's 33 parking fines. Frank also used his congressional letterhead to write a reference letter to Gobi's probation officer -- Gobi was under court supervision as a convicted felon with a prison record -- in which he gave false information. Most damningly, the investigation found that Gobi ran a prostitution ring from Frank's home. In his defense, Frank asserted he knew nothing of Gobi's illicit enterprise.
The Democrat -controlled House voted 408-18 to reprimand Frank after a heated debate during which some Republicans demanded expulsion. They pointed out that the claim that Frank did not know of Gobi's criminal activities was incredible to say the least.

The ONLY way out of this economic morass is to begin a no-nonsense, full blown program of aggressive domestic energy development. Like it or not, this nation's economy has always flourished largely because of cheap energy.

Obama’s efforts to center this nation’s economy under an umbrella of "green energy" is pure malevolence. It’s a perfect prescription for the complete annihilation of the American economy. Look what happened to Spain.

Smarter, much cleaner energy solutions will come, but they are not yet here. Be perfectly secure in the reality that there are untold thousands of people working in everything from sophisticated labs to their home garages, each hoping to become the next Bill Gates of renewable energy. The incentives for these researchers are incredibly high. They will succeed!

But meanwhile...

All of the “peak oil” predictions have fallen like ten pins. The fact is that the U.S. may well be sitting atop the world’s largest collection of natural energy resources. The idea that the world is running out of oil & gas is a monumental lie. These days, the news about discoveries of huge new oil and gas deposits are coming in like a steady drumbeat. In known gas reserves, we already have up to 120 years of gas supplies and this figure will almost certainly go much higher. Oil is plentiful. It is estimated that up to 500 billion barrels of recoverable oil are held in the Bakken Formation alone. We are the Saudi Arabia of coal and clean coal energy is within our reach. We need to push hard!

We shouldn’t be importing oil! We should be exporting it! Again, this is the ONLY way we can pay this nation’s massive debt and return to prosperity.

We can allow ourselves to follow the radical environmentalists over a cliff to economic annihilation or we can choose to reclaim economic prosperity for ourselves, our children and grandchildren.

It’s our choice to make.

Oh no....I'm not really a NOBEL PEACE PRIZE President, I'm a Muslim Communist Marxist....but, I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night.

“O-Bagger!” Obama is a disgrace to the Presidency. His administration is corrupt. The stimulus money has gone to foreign banks; he dismisses the American citizen; divides its citizens; tries to ILLEGALLY offer Sestak a Cabinet position to pull out of a congressional race; refuses to seal the Mexican border; refuses to uphold the US Constitution; has an extramarital affair (VERA BAKER); destroys our economy; attacks the job producers; oppresses the poor through Orwellian policy; hoodwinks the minorities into thinking they can't achieve on their own; considers the United States to be greedy and arrogant even though America's compassion has helped every country on earth; continues with Machiavellian tactics to implement Communism.

In November the Democratic Communist party will be voted out of office. Then perhaps we can impeach Barack Hussein (ashamed of his name) Obama for treason, corruption, incompetence, and a lack of moral character. At the very least let’s make this Muslim Communist a one-term President. Mr. Obama has disgraced the Presidency of the United States.

Buffett is a man who at least understand how wealth is created. He assumes that wealth must be shared and spread out by a 'benevolent' government. OK fine. Let's get the wealth creation part of the formula down first. As much as I have NO respect for our current pres, I'm encouraged that he might possibly take Buffett's advice. If he doesn't, we may witness the end of the Democratic party as we used to know it. Too bad Obama has to get his lessons in economics after causing all the damage he's created by his ideology.

The truly sad truth is that Bill Clinton will come to the rescue of Obama, Obama will fullow Clintons advice only long enough to get past the mid terms with as little damage as possible and then, if the Dems retain Congress, in January Obama will press full throttle to implement every flakey policy that we are watching fail right now, the end result will be Obama losing the 2012 election, at which time he will retire to Chicago and make millions as a guest speaker and consultant, but he will need those millions because the economy will be a shambles and the nation will be a broken shell of its once great self, Obama will be fully to blame but the dems will give him a pass and he will laugh all the way to the bank with his Presidential pension, as the nation starves. And, they don't want giant government programs with thousands of new bureaucrats dictating their treatments. This program is killing the Democratic Party, and the sooner they ditch it the sooner they can get back into the good graces of the American people. More important, repealing it will save the United States from bankruptcy because ObamaCare is a financial train wreck!

For example, the U.S. government's Income tax scam (courtesy of bankers).

How many of you noticed the legal definition for "Exempt income" that is written into tax law?

Funny that it takes a computer scientist just two minutes to find something that thousands of tax "experts" won't even bother.

Democrats are CLUELESS as to how to stimulate recovery.

They are unwilling to truly help business.

They just want to pass out money for jobs but that has proven not to have a stimulative effect.

The Investment Tax Credit (ITC) back in the early 80s was very effective at jumpstarting the economy. Dems won't do that because it helps evil businesses modernize (which is what will ultimately drive the economy and exports).

...white skin notwithstanding, this[Bill Clinton]is our first black President. Blacker than any actual black person who could ever be elected in our children's lifetime. After all, Clinton displays almost every trope of blackness: single-parent household, born poor, working-class, saxophone-playing, McDonald's-and-junk-food-loving boy from Arkansas.(Toni Morrison, New Yorker, October 1998)

Ex-President Clinton belittled Mr Obama by saying: “A few years ago, this guy would have been getting us coffee.”

Geraldine Ferraro has left Senator Hillary Clinton’s finance committee, saying,"If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position. And if he was a woman (of any color), he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept."

Sen. Barack Obama's presidential campaign has prepared a detailed memo listing various instances in which it perceived Sen. Hillary Clinton's campaign to have deliberately played the race card in the Democratic primary.(The Huffington Post First Posted: 01-12-08 01:15 PM|Updated: 03-28-08 02:45 AM)

His meeting with Big Bill and Warren Buffett is just for show. Sort of like when Bill Clinton had his meetings with Jesse Jackson to give him public absolution during the Lewinsky affair. Obama does not care about private sector jobs at all - unless those jobs are in Union shops, and there is too little time to do anything anyway before the midterm elections. But Obama will put on a good act to convince the gullible "independent" voters.

If the polls still look bad, expect Barack The Magnificent to "wag the dog" in October. A true October Suprpise. He might even use nuclear weapons if he is desperate enough to retain Congressional control!! The prospect of Republicans having subpoena power is something The Great Obama must prevent at all costs.

President Obama should have been worrzing about unemployment immediately upon taking office, as corporations were laying off workers ( think Civilian Conservation Corps, Works Progress Administration). Likewise he should have begun exploring real, workable options for people facing foreclosure ( think Home Owners Loan Corporation). In his defense, he was getting sh---y advice from a trio of Knot-heads: one of whom was supposedly an expert on the events of the Great Depression, another of whom was largely responsible for selling President Clinton on the deregulation that led to the economic crisis and could not admit that he screwed up big-time, and the third who is owned lock, stock and barrel by Wall Street. Barack Obama is very likely to be a one-term president; Franklin Delano Roosevelt was a four term president because he placed the emphasis where it belongs, on the little guy. (He also damned the Wall Street Bankers in no uncertain terms, did not bail the out, rather, put in place real regulation that served the nation well until Larry Summers and Gramm-Leach-Bliley came along.

How Long Oh America! Like Gov. Clements cried out...
How long will it take to notice the obvious, therefore the hardest to notice?
We have priced ourselves out of the market and do not have the technical edge we had at the end of WWII.
Deflation is next, of our choice or imposed by global factors.
Taxes and salaries must come down, there is no choice. Yes, this makes our debt burden heavier.
If you agree, you also know the longer we wait the worse it gets. But, we could do it gradually, at a fix rate adjusted every few months.
Note: Cost of Living will continue to go down, reducing some of the pain, the humger, anyway.
Or, we sit down and continue doing most of what we are doing 1. Wait. 2. Borrow to survive, and 3. Wait so more.
Dumb, isn't?

I would like to point out that regardless of who would have to take the responsibility for this economic condition, It is pointless to blame anyone. The question is: How can we get out of this mess? I am asking the Unions how do they expect to compete with the rest of the worlds workers if they are putting a stranglehold on the capping of these high wages (OF SOME). Where in the world can the US sell anything? Our products are overpriced, partly by contracts of the past which are impossible to change. I do not sympathize with the way the present Administration has been trying to shove unpopular programs down peoples throat. However, there are forces in this world which do not play by the rules. I do not wish to go into it any further, anyone who has any knowledge of history and finances will know where the wind comes from. These financial gurus are not concerned with the general population, they are only seeing the bottom line.
WW3 will take care of that. We are not too far away. W.

3108frank is right. Obama DOES know what he is doing. Trying to bring down the economy to initiate his socialist programs and keep citizens dependent on the government.

However, in the short term, Obama is bringing in the heavyweights to try to temporarily turn things on an upturn until the November elections.

Then, after the elections, Obama will again be turning the economy downward again.

Wake Up America!

In response to "concernedaboutdc" posted at 4:46 p.m.

You obviously aren't even ashamed of being a socialist. If its such a great concept, please immediately move to Venezuala or Cuba, and see how that works for you. Or better yet, do a little time travel, and go live in the Soviet Union or Nazi Germany. They were what socialist governments become.

But actually I suspect you are an elitist in the mold of our Ivory Towerist In Chief, being so intellectually and morally superior compared to everyone else. Like him, you would probably just take advantage of being one of the few in charge who leech a parasitic life of power, comfort and luxury on the backs of privately employed citizens and businesses who do the work and pay the taxes.

Just remember this gem by the author of the Dune series:

"The patterns, ahhh the patterns. Liberal bigots are the ones who trouble me the most. I distrust the extremes. Scratch a conservative and you find someone who prefers the past over any future. Scratch a liberal and find a closet aristocrat. Liberal governments always develop into aristocracies. The bureauacracies betray the intent of the people who form such governments."

djsteil is correct about the Community Reinvestment Act and what it allowed to happen to housing. Did some of these loans go to upper income people? Yes, indeed. However, the vast majority of them went to people who didn't have two nickels to rub together.

I buy and sell foreclosed houses. In the past two years, I've been inside hundreds of repossessed vacant houses valued initially between $175,000 and $300,000 (I live in the Sunbelt). Most of these houses have been literally destroyed by the occupants before moving out. Sadly, many of these people didn't have enough money to afford the costs (utilities, insurance and taxes) of operating the houses let alone the principal and interest. It's easy to get a loan when you don't have to provide any income verification or have your credit checked.

The 1995 amending of the CRA was never about affordable housing. It was solely about getting votes...much like immigration reform is.

To the many people who think Obama is making a mess of the economy because he doesn't know what he is doing I say he is making a mess of it because he DOES know what he's doing. He is intentionaly trying to destroy the country. If he isn't trying to destroy the country why did he refuse any help and delay the work of others when the oil spill happened? Why has he refused to seal the border and sued to stop Arizonas enforcement efforts? Why has he voluntered to disarm us when our enemies are building arms? Why did he pass ahealth care bill that will destroy the best system on the planet? I could go on and on but you get it. It's all planned and by design. Obama and the Dems are the enemey within.

I cannot think of Warren Buffett, or Bill Gates, for that matter, without recognizing that these are two of the greatest Capitalists in American History, alongside Carnegie, Rockefeller, and Morgan, among others.

Hate Capitalism? Hardly. But recognize Capitalism for what it is. Your local drug dealer is a Capitalist small businessman. Your neighborhood pimp is also, as is the guy who charged you double on a car repair you did not need (Sears).

Capitalism is AMORAL. Left alone, we get Enron, Global Crossing, WorldCom, and LTCM, OR we get Ford, ALCOA, Intel, and Berkshire Hathaway. There is nothing inherent in the system that determines whether it is a social good, or a social evil. Governments and Laws are necessary because, as John Adams famously said, "Men are not Angels".

I don't agree with every regulation our government imposes, but I support the concept of regulation fully.

Honest players tend not to feel regulation; those inclined to cheat complain loudly. Remember, banks don't have vaults and alarm systems because ALL people steal, but because SOME do.

Can American business still turn an honest profit? I think so, but it might require a bit more patience.

There are a number of bigots and racists posting here, much like a good number of those within the Tea Party crowds. Wall Street banks promised all of you the stars. What they didn't tell you is that their game was derivatives on top of derivatives, and not putting the "real" value of assets, real or vapor, on the books. Bush and the Republicans enabled this calamity. Obama had nothing to do with this but everything to do with changing the rules to prevent it from happening again.

This is one time the mass media is not going to be able to say this garbage over and over again and showcase the talking heads, and expect to get their desired results. It is said by virtually every major media source that the Democrats are going to lose this November's congressional elections. I am here to tell you, IT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. We have a 4th quarter blitz that's going to assure congressional majorities are maintained in the House and Senate. We have been relatively quiet since Obama's presidential victory, allowing the Tea Party and the talking heads in media to shape the opinions of the minority who actually listens to them. Let's see how they weather the next few months and the real "polls" in November.

Idiots Liberals they just don't get it. Think with common sense, Capitalism is the growth engine of America. Liberals hate capitalism but faile to understand that that is what makes America prosperous without it we are just another third world failed country. Think if you increase regulations and taxes on business of course business is going to lay off workers and increase prices to compensate for the government intrusions. Conservative Republicans understand this, liberals don't. Liberals think that you can punish the business, steal its assets and give them to people that don't have the skills or desire to earn it themselves. Rewarding laziness produces more lazy people. Forcing banks to make loans to people that can't afford houses just so you can say you helped minorities and underclass citizens to achieve homeownership is what creates a housing bubble now all that bad debt is being paid for by tax payers one way or another it is the people of this country that foot the bill. Liberals don't get it they want bigger and bigger government that intrudes and hampers business process so they get the high unemployment and stagflation that is going on now and went on during that Liberal Jimmy Carters failed Presidency. Of course having Obummer running around crying Bush did it Bush did it and never taking any real responsibility just proves how immature and not ready to lead the Democrats are. Obama may have inherited a mess but the mess started in January 2007 the same time that DEMOCRATS took control of the Congress this was never Bush's mess because the founders knew better then to allow the executive branch to control the purse strings. So Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid campaigned on change in 2006, yes 2006 everything was so much better then low unemployment, High House prices, High Stock Market, prosperity for all and then the Liberals got elected and ruined it. Thank you dimwits that elected Democrats to destroy prosperity. Take ownership for your failure but one thing is still true, America always has a choice our elections allow us to right what is wrong. In November run don't walk to your nearest polling place and with your Baton in hand scream out loud and proud that now we know what its like to be ruled by the black man and we won't take it anymore. The DOJ has already set a precedent that this type of behavior would be perfectly fine with them and doesn't constitute voter intimidation how scurrilous our nation has become in just under 2 years. Can't say people weren't warned because you were.

It created a real estate boom and private industry loved it.

Another bad practice - trading bundled sub-prime loans(including low-income ones)was, again, entirely a private industry venture.

The government's only involvement was NOT regulating sub-prime lending and the practice of market speculation on mortgages. And the de-regulation of the financial sector hearkens back to Reagan and continued through George W(including Clinton). Obama is the first President to INCREASE regulation on the financial sector. And your whole argument rests on the premise that more regulation is needed. So, you're a supporter of Obama's policies I assume.

FYI - video montages on YouTube do not constitute "proof" to anyone, except maybe Mama Grizzly, the patron saint Twitter politics.

Anyhow, I really don't hold Obama responsible. Afterall, he's just a Chicago hack with very little experience,

It's the media, like the WaPo, who is to blame. They LOVE Obama. They FAILED to do their jobs and look at the man as a candidate and ask basic questions about his competence, experience, and world view. They did all of these things with Palin. Heck, they an army of reporters to Alaska to dig up what they could on the woman, but left Obama untouched. Rather, they fawned all over the man.

So blame the press for this mess. Start with the Washington Post.

Obama, overall, has been doing the right thing. Republicans love to lie about Fanny and Freddie, pretending home loans are what crashed the US economy under Bush/Cheney. It is similar to the lies they told immediately after the 9/11 attacks, blaming the attacks on the Clinton Administration.

WHAT IS THE TRUTH?
Under Republican leadership, laws and rules governing business were gotten rid of or not adhered to. This allowed Wall Street banks and companies to run ramshod culminating to a collapsed economy under Bush/Cheney. As individuals, when you borrow like mad men, you know when it's time to pay that it takes years to get out of debt. Why do we ignorantly assume the Obama Administration can suddenly fix what Bush/Cheney ignored for 8 years??? It's silly and CNN, FoxNews, NBC, ABC, CBS and all of the print medias know this. Why then do they pile on day after day about the economy and how it's not doing so well? After Obama told the Israelis that they MUST end all of the illegal settlements and come to the table with the Palestinians to discuss establishment of Palestinian state, Israeli papers and their friends in the US put out an edict that Obama's popularity must be attacked. They have and are doing this. However, it shall not work because there are two aces that Obama holds.

1) Iraq War - end it.
2) Afghanistan War - end it.

Ending those wars would bring a trillion dollars into the US economy. To end it means Obama would have to exercise courage as President and executively say it's over. These are wars the US should not be fighting. You lose your economic power, your military power will also decline.

Bill Clinton inherited 8 years of peace after the Soviet Union dissolved while George H. W. Bush was president. He did not have to expend near as much money on the military. Obama can have the same, if he STOP trying to appease a group of people with a political ideology who live to see him fail. Harry Reid had this much correct but he was stupid to say it because the Republicans are going to use his words and say Obama is "weak" when he end both of the wars.

I end with this: Obama is planning and thinking in a way that will sustain the US for the future. Fast "fixes" and entitlements promoted by the Chamber of Commerce are not fixes but short term climaxes and highs that would leave the US more destitute a year or so later. We need to tighten our belts, educate ourselves, keep jobs here, and keep Wall Street under control.

Remember what Hillary said about Obama during the primaries; "The presidency does not lend itself for on-the-job-training". She was so right and she is going to go back to that theme. Oh by the way, speaking of reaching Bush'e approval numbers, Bush did it with an extremely hostile media crushing him daily while Obama has managed to do it despite having a compliant poodle media that refuses to REALLY question anything he does. My sense is,however, that might change so that they will be able to save some face when the entire regime collapses.

I am waiting for all of the pessimistic folks out there to AT LEAST demonstrate some concern for their neighbor that may be out of work. Everything in America isn't socialistic, although the nation DEPENDS on many socialistic programs, i.e. public anythings (roads, safety, health care (VA, Medicare), etc.).

If all you are going to do is stand on the sidelines and scream bah humbug to everything that isn't proposed by a Republican, you can blame yourself if nothing gets done for the next 3 years, some out of work folks won't last that long.

You don't have to wait until Barrack Obama is out of office to lobby and be excited about jobs that will benefit your town, city or state. The fact of life is that the United States will always have socialist programs. It always has. AND they have always functioned hand in hand with the free market.

If you really care about jobs, stop being a horses hind part and support initiatives that are moving to get them created. No matter the source.

Otherwise, you are just a tired old rhetoric blow hard of no real substance or of no real benefit to anyone.

To get moving again, we need many visible leaders, and elders like Warren Buffet have proven they are willing to put their country's future ahead of their personal gain.
We need a lot more like him...

He made millions since he left office and he is itching to get back in via Hillary. Please, please NO, NO, NO!!! They are the ultimate politicians and she will challenge Obama in 2012. The stupid voters in this country will vote for them again. They will turn this country back even further than Obama. Please what ever he suggests is to benefit him and Hillary for the future. "Gibbs said the timing of the two Wednesday meetings was coincidental, and that Buffett initiated their sit-down.
'You don't turn down an opportunity to talk to Warren Buffett,' Gibbs said."

So.

Either this is total BS, meaning the White House DID place a desperate call to Buffet for an emergency meeting to tell Obama what to do or...

It's true, meaning Warren Buffet dictates to the White House and Obama comes hat in hand at his beckon call.

Neither spin sounds very good to me.

In 1995 at the request of Obama and ACORN the Clinton administration revised the Community Reinvestment Act to permit sub-prime loans for high risk low income home loan candidates. The Clinton administration then via the Federal Reserve made trillions of dollars available to Fannie and Freddie for lending to high risk low income home loan candidates. Obama, ACORN and the Clinton administration then pushed Fannie and Freddie to increase lending to high risk low income home loan candidates while Barney Frank was rejecting the Bush administrations request for tighter Fannie and Freddie lending regulations.

The collective combination of Obama, ACORN, Clinton pressuring Fannie and Freddie to make more high risk low income home loans and Frank rejecting the Bush administrations and Greenspan pleas for tighter bank lending regulations resulted in the enormous home foreclosures, which caused bank cash flow problems, which caused banks freezing loans, which caused business cash flow problems, which caused layoffs, which caused more foreclosures, which caused more bank cash flow problems, which caused more banks freezing loans, which caused more business cash flow problems, which caused more layoffs, which caused even more foreclosures, which caused even more ………,and now the same people that caused the global economic meltdown are in charge of fixing the problem and blaming everyone but themselves!!!!!!!

Below is audio/video PROOF of how Obama, ACORN, Clinton and Frank caused the US and global economic meltdown:

INTERESTING
I never liked Bill Clinton because of his character-and morals-however I think he is among the brightest Presidents we have had in the White house. he is not stupid--maybe a very foolish, self centered ego maniac.

The people in this White House have not the slightest idea as to how to run a business or the concerns of the average businessman-investment is made in a safe environment and we have the most dangerous one anyone could imagine. Dopes at the wheel and fools riding shotgun.

The very people who gave this country the greatest standard of living in the world and created the strongest economy known on earth are sitting around worried because they don't know what else these crazies will come up with.

This is a mess, however that mess can be resolved. But it is going to take hard decisions that the President is probably not capable of making --unfortunately. The man should look at the problem --know energy efficiency is on the way but you cannot ignore history--a slower smooth transition is required--open the pipes--let oil flow; stop putting out a trillion a year for foreign oil and destroying the dollar. Realize as we develop our resources we will overcome the carbon problem and clean the rivers, skies, and the countryside. Have a little faith in American ingenuity and in the future --that we can succeed only if we think we can --failure is not an option.

Don't piss on Bill's ability--he may help show the man the way.

Wow....does that give anyone a clue just how isolated this man and his advisors are from what is happening outside of DC--where they create (gov't) jobs with the stroke of a pen? Name me one person that advises him that has ever been in business??!! What would you expect? Incredible......

Mr. Buffett, exactly HOW were you figuring to "capitalize" from the election of a uber-liberal neo-socialist president?

Please "Oracle of Omaha", explain how that was supposed to be good for our country?

Or was an Obama misAdministration a good bet specifically for Warren Buffett and Warren Buffett's bottom line?

An ultra-capitalist pushing a clearly socialist president? Something is obviously fishy. Bilderberg much, Warren?

It is almost too easy to see the problem. Anyone: Have you seen a "made in USA" sticker on anything? I'd say it's an endangered species, to be honest... and about to go extinct if things stay on the course we're headed.

When you see "made in USA", you also see jobs. Where you have a scarcity of that, you have a scarcity of jobs. Where are the jobs? In China and India, not in this country.

Where you have jobs, people spend money and push the economy. Where you don't have jobs, it suffers.

Due to unethical tactics in major corporations--and unrestricted "free trade"--American based corporations went for the cheapest labor possible on the global market. The well paid American workers were laid off and put out of work. Meanwhile the company executives pocketed the profits. (And you don't get rich by spending money, therefore putting it back into the economy.)

Then, these same folks have the nerve to accept TARP money (government bailout). AIG? They blew it on a huge party, and asked for more. GM? Thanks for the taxpayer money, we're moving our production to China, now.

Absolutely amazing! The corporate execs have their cake and can eat it, too.

But when he chose to support the candidacy of Obama in spite of all the anti-capitalist rhetoric, venom and mockery that the candidate was spewing, I decided that Buffet was not as bright as I imagined. Now, he is going to the White House to register his concern for Obama's policies and priorities. Was he not listening two years ago? Or was he, like so many others, duped by the community organizer. All I heard at the time was the politics of division. Now Buffet should be pleased with his endorsement because he got just what Obama promised.

Yes. Finally. Someone is finally paying attention to the elephant in the room. JOBS. I don't care who is in the White House, if they aren't doing something to get Americans back to work, to include democrats, republicans, independents, and those Americans who don't give two cents about politics, they may as well just step aside.

Warren Buffet, while I greatly respect his investment knowledge and ability to make a dollar out of 15 cents, I just don't know if he has the skill set to create jobs, unless, of course, he is going to open a conglomerate with his many millions and hire strictly Americans.

Bill Clinton, however, did create jobs while President. Those were some of the best times for the U.S. economy.

I never expect or expected Barrack to serve an easy term as president. Too many angry American's out there. Too many reasons to be angry. Some, just mad for the same of being mad. Or worse, mad to see a shade of brown residing in the White House. Nonetheless. JOBS, JOBS, JOBS should be the watchwords of EVERY politician serving in Washington. The time is now. Create an environment that is plush for small business development and responsible corporate growth.

So far THIS MONTH Barry the chickenhawk demander-in-chief has already sent 36 American soldiers to their deaths in Afghanistan and the month is not half over; 238 this year and the year is half over; 544 since taking office less than a year and a half ago.

Only 97 more to go until Barry the inept bungler has gotten more of our guys killed than were lost during eight full years of Bush. At the current rate that event will occur about six to eight weeks from now.

[source: icasualties.org]

Meanwhile, according Barry's CIA chief Leon Panetta, Osama bin Laden is in Pakistan, not Afghanistan.

I harken back to March of 2009, when President Obama was addressing his Democrats on the stimulus they had just shoved down the throats of the country and he complained that the Republicans didn't agree with his plans. "What do they think stimulus is?", he asked.

The answer is: "Obviously not what you did, Mr. President."

They knew this wasn't working the minute they had to come up with "created or saved" for jobs.

A little truth would be good.

One of the largest catalysts to the financial meltdown was Wall Street and Banks predatory ponzi subprime fraud. And yet, still Wall Street and the Banks are not controlled to prevent another catastrophic failure. Instead of aiding the 20-26 million unemployed, Obama gives stimulus money to the VERY PREDATORS themselves...go figure. Bush-Cheney have spent 2 trillion + per year in 3-4 foreign wars...now totalling somewhere around 20 trillion in imperialistic DoD contracts.... But America is no safer from terrorists...
