A beach vacation in the rain

By Scott Wilson

VINEYARD HAVEN, Mass. -- The weather here is awful, turning the island into a blustery, rain-soaked mess for the First Family's vacation. Much of their fun has, by necessity, moved indoors during the days-long storm.

For the first time since their arrival four days earlier, President Obama and the first lady braved a gale-force wind to dine out Monday evening in Oak Bluffs, choosing the French-American cuisine of The Sweet Life Café.

Joining them were Valerie Jarrett, a close family friend and one of the president's senior advisers, and Chicago pals Eric and Cheryl Whitaker. The First Couple received a round of applause from onlookers for venturing out on a night when the 30-are farm they've rented would have provided an understandable sanctuary.

Obama has only gotten in two rounds of golf, just beating the weather Sunday morning for his most recent one. He stocked up on a few large novels during a bookstore visit last week, including Jonathan Franzen's 576-page "Freedom."

He has yet to make a dent in that one, Bill Burton, the White House deputy press secretary, told reporters here Tuesday during a morning briefing. Instead, he's been enjoying some guilt-free nesting with family and friends, hunched over Scrabble and Taboo (a word-game) with the harsh weather outside.

"I'll probably get fired for saying this," Burton said before announcing that Jarrett "did not do well" against Obama in Scrabble.

Forecasts predict the weather clearing Thursday - in time for a blizzard of golf before the First Family's scheduled departure three days later.

Most Americans are hoping he stays on vacation. At least, while he is on vacation he cannot be doing anymore damage to this country. Meanwhile he bashes America to the UN. Arizona and other states prisons are overflowing with Criminal Illegals and they fail to deport them. Illegals are provided with "Bingo night" and "flower arranging" on our dime, (meanwhile he refuses to acknowledge that the reason Arizona has to have tent prison is that their prisons is overflowing with illegals. Americans want him IMPEACHED. http://www.impeachobamacampaign.com/obama-hauls-arizona-before-the-un-human-rights-council/?utm_source=Floyd+Reports

I'd have a great time on vacation too, whether it's raining or not, if somebody else was paying for it.

When William Ayers, Jeremiah Wright, R. Kelly, and Malik Shabazz appeared in the White House visitors log recently, a White House spokesman claimed these were not the people you think they are, these are other people with the same name.

However while vacationing, Obama is free to meet with anyone he wants to.

I tried to be a Republican - but I'm just not bitter enough or delusional enough. The sense of common decency and common sense will forever keep me out of the teabag set. THANK YOU GOD!!!

More Spinning."THE ONE" is such a GENIUS!

He beats a slum Lord( Jarrett)in Scrabble.
Listen to Barry talk WITHOUT a teleprompter, it is painful.

If HE is such a GENIUS, why is Barry afraid to release his LSAT, SAT, and university grades? George Bush did.

Do you people scour the Internet for articles about the president that you can post hateful comments on? Don't you have anything better to do, like jobs or something? (And, BTW, you really need some new material!) It's obvious from the time you appear to spend surfing the net that the president is working harder than you are.

NO VACATION FROM BUSH-CHENEY- SPAWNED ATROCITIES THAT OBAMA ADMIN ALLOWS TO CONTINUE...

URGENT TO PRESIDENT OBAMA, c/o Axelrod, Jarrett, VP Biden:

Mr. President: There is no vacation from "anti-functional" silent microwave radio frequency torture and impairment being inflicted on thousands, perhaps millions, of extra-legally targeted Americans -- the victims of a Bush-Cheney- spawned fusion center- based Gestapo that your administration inexplicably allows to continue to commit CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY AND THE CONSTITUTION.

Even you, and those close to other high officials, may be in the electromagnetic cross-hairs of a heinous covert program of extrajudicial targeting, torture and impairment -- a silent American genocide.

Access to this cell tower- based weapon system has been franchised out widely -- too widely to control. The system must be DISMANTLED; its only purpose is torture, impairment, and slow-kill homicide -- in the word of government officials, "anti-functional."

Please read this veteran journalist's exposes of the war crimes occurring now on YOUR watch:

Obama should get his own reality show, it could be like the lives of the Rich and Famous and Americans could watch it and Dream the American Dream.

I agree with georges2. We should all be grateful that the guy believes in mucho vacations. The money we get taken to the cleaners for by subdizing his breaks is far less than the amount he'd take us for if he were actually working. He does work, doesn't he?

I guess this means another vacation will be coming up soon. That's okay. I feel safer when this jerk is out of Washington!
