Angle attacks Reid over 'coked-up stimulus monkeys'

A press release from Nevada Republican Senate candidate Sharron Angle today goes after Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid for voting in favor of the economic stimulus package. The release features the headline: "Harry Reid's Plan to Save the Nevada Economy: Coked-up Stimulus Monkeys."

The release cites a Republican Senate report that details some of the more attention-grabbing line-items in the stimulus bill:

Harry Reid says 'no one can do more' for Nevada. We had no idea Harry's plan of 'more' meant spending millions on coked-up monkeys and exotic ants while our state is ravaged by the worst foreclosure rate and highest unemployment rate in the nation," said Jerry Stacy, spokesman for U.S. Senatorial [candidate] Sharron Angle.

The release cites reports from ABC News and CNBC, The Bureau of Labor Statistics and Reid's own website.

A full read of the ABC News report features a quote from the recipient of the 'coked-up stimulus monkeys' grant. Bonnie Davis, a spokeswoman for The Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, told ABC the "small grant has helped protect very important research that will have significant impact on public health in regards to cocaine addiction and the issue of relapse."

Angle recently hired experienced campaign spokesman Jarrod Agen. Agen is a veteran of New York mayor Rudy Giulliani's 2008 presidential campaign and Steve Poizner's failed gubernatorial campaign.

Oh, LOL! :-D

"Coked-Up Stimulus Monkey!"

I'll leave it at:

Does anyone think O'Bomba will still be addicted AFTER he's blown all the Money?

Or, on the Road to recovery-at least, until he can get some more $$$$$ for Stimulus?

There is one easy solution to drug addiction: poison cocaine. It doesn't even have to be all of it, just enough.

Here is an excellent refutation of some of the disingenuous criticisms Angle has published:

"Considering the Spread of "Fire Ants" from South America Northward and some newly imported "Crazy Rasberry Ants" spreading out from Houston. Fire Ants Kill bird nesting grounds as well as young animals and the Rasberry Ant attacks on electrical equipment like home breaker boxes and Computer terminals and shorting them out... There are many different kinds of ants doing damage in many ways... Research on them is necessary."

The critics and spinmeisters (starting with Angle) are just being fundamentally dishonest (as usual?)in describing this.

And the dittoheads here, with no more intellectual integrity than Angle, are only too happy to repeat this drivel: "So Obama's idea of stimulus is to give cocaine to monkeys for free, but to make the rest of us pay for it with after-tax money?" Posted by: jiji1

Republicans and "Drug Warriors", of all people, are in no position to argue that drug addiction is NOT a serious problem... and THAT is the essential implication of their criticism of this grant.

Shouldn't that read "failed 2008 campaign"? ROFL. No seriously. Sharron Angle must believe that scientific research should be halted because of a down economy.

Angle is absolutely right about the Stimulus. It was almost a Trillion dollars wasted on Political payback, and created no new real jobs. $554,763 to repair windows in a closed national park. $762,372 on "dance" software. $1.2 Million on restoring an old train station. $1.9 million on studying "exotic" ants. $89,298 on 1/4 mile of sidewalk that was only 5 years old and ended in a ditch. And yes, giving cocaine to monkeys. Pure waste. NO JOBS. Our bloated Obamanomics at work. The best thing to happen would to get Reid out of Congress.

Posted by: joanz3 | August 5, 2010 10:56 AM

Joanz3, I have to ask you; aren't repairing windows, pouring concrete, and conducting scientific research "real jobs"? Funny, I could have sworn all the above are classified as "work". You also state that a trillion dollars of stimulus money was wasted yet you only cite a few million dollars of so called waste. The money may have been wasted but it did create jobs.

This has me worried. It is too reminiscent of Bobby Jindal ridiculing volcano monitoring shortly before the Alaskan volcano erupted.

What will happen now? Will the monkeys that Fox reported were being trained by the Taliban to use firearms get hold of some coke and go on a killing spree?

All the king's horses and all the king's men are not going to be able to make Angle look like an attractive candidate. Where did they get her anyway? She reminds me of a batty, old kindergarten teacher I had, who was so obviously off her rocker that the parents finally got together and demanded that she put into a kid free zone for the duration of her career. I've noticed that in between spewing her crackpot ideas, she spends most of her time deflecting questions about what she will do by suggesting that it is the responsibility of others?!? Perhaps she is the only conservative candidate, who intends to live up to the idea that government is unnecessary by doing absolutely nothing.

The left will do anything they can to smear Angle. The fact is she is right. There have been billions in wasteful spending in the Stimulus. The "Summer Blues" list noted huge grants to study the effects of cocaine on monkeys, and to study "exotic ants". Also how yoga effects hot flashes in menopausal women, and on and on. These created NO NEW JOBS.Google it for the numbers and get sick. The report questions a decision to spend $1 million on iPod Touch devices for 1,600 students at Kearns High School in Kearns, Utah. No jobs will be created. Another project singled out in the report is a $498,000 grant to a unit of the American Legacy Foundation, which will provide BlackBerry Curve smart phones to Washington residents trying to quit smoking. Two jobs will be created directly by the program. In several cases, stimulus money went toward the promotion and study of the stimulus program, at a cost of millions of dollars.
A small Maryland-based consulting firm specializing in health communications received $363,760 to tout the National Institutes of Health stimulus spending efforts and highlight success stories.
The senators also drew attention to $193,956 in grants to a pair of Texas universities to study how the stimulus is received by the public.

The lies and manipulation of progressives to demonize Sharron Angle are convincing thinking Americans that they must vote for Sharron Angle.

=====================

Most Americans aren't going to vote for Angle because they can't: They don't live in Nevada.

Meanwhile, in Nevada, voters are turning away from Angle. Her poll numbers are steadily dropping.

Angle is toast.

Sharron Angle is a total fruit cake. Her level of ignorance is even worse than Sarah Palin's, and that's saying a lot. The GOP continues to allow their Party to be consumed by radicals, know nothings, and crazies. They're playing with fire and creating multiple tigers they cannot tame. Just read an article about a conservative in S.C. who lost to a Tea Party candidate. He said he was just left speechless with some of this groups wild accusations about Obama. He said 90% of them watch Glenn Beck. He even asked Boehner how he's supposed to respond to these people. You can't because they're totally divorced from reality and can't be reasoned with.

This reminds me of the episode in the 2008 campaign when McCain complained about a $3,000,000 earmark Obama had attempted to insert into an appropriations bill for an "overhead projector".

Turns out it was for a replacement planetarium projector.

Oops!

Anyway, a lot of research sounds stupid, and goes nowhere, but it still has to be done. There's a lot of empty casting about before reeling in a breakthrough. Plus... The pathways for distributing money exist already, and once the money goes out, people can get to work.

Strange. Not one of the posters questioned the funding for these programs.

Strange? Fill us in on the detail of the studies and we'll comment.

This reminds me a bit about John McCain and his bear DNA studies. Remember that one? McCain said he didn't know whether it was criminal or paternal. He was right about that. It was neither. It was an effort that reduced the cost on monitoring the population of endangered bears.

The question I would have liked to have asked McCain was why didn't his staff look it up and tell him that or was he just trying to deceive the electorate.

Maybe you don't think their should be government funded studies related to addiction? I think there should be.

I have no idea what the ants thing is, I'm not sure Sharron Angle does either. Like McCain, she's just using some one liners to get votes. It's not as if she really wants the electorate to understand what the studies are for.

You are right, bethg1841. At this point progressives are focusing on demonizing Sharron Angle. They have invested millions in demonizing propaganda and they have their operatives and lemmings working full time lying and manipulating the truth to try to destroy Angle.

Fortunately, most Americans have waken up. Most Americans understand that the more progressives demonize someone, the better that person is and the more that person will be able to help us defend ourselves -- and our children and grandchildren -- from Obama, Reid and Pelosi and their job-killing, economy-killing, freedom-killing scams like Obamacare and cap and trade.

The lies and manipulation of progressives to demonize Sharron Angle are convincing thinking Americans that they must vote for Sharron Angle.

"Coked-up stimulus monkeys" is my vote for political catch-phrase of the year. "Walking the Appalachian trail" was my winner last year, but it's hard to beat "coked-up stimulus monkeys" for catchiness and absurdity.

Someone please make an appropriate YouTube video that captures the frenzy and nonsense of this phrase now, please!

As goofy as this sounds, if this phrase catches on, and if Nevada voters cannot think "Harry Reid" without immediately also thinking "coked-up stimulus monkeys," then Reid may be in big trouble come November.
