Bloomberg joins Obama's golf foursome

By Scott Wilson

VINEYARD HAVEN, Mass.--For his fifth round of golf this vacation, President Obama welcomed a new member to his foursome: New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

The two have apparently never golfed together before, and they prefaced their round on a beautiful, if blustery, day on the island, with a 15-minute clubhouse talk about the economy.

Obama has met several times with Bloomberg, a Democrat turned Republican turned independent, in the White House. But this less formal encounter came on a day when a revised set of data was released indicating that the economic recovery has slowed.

Bloomberg applauded Obama recently for the president's remarks on the Islamic center planned to be built in Lower Manhattan two blocks from where the World Trade Center stood until Sept. 11, 2001.

Obama strongly endorsed the center's backers' right to build at the site, although the next day he said he did not have a position on whether they should. Bloomberg has spoken out several times on the issue.

Earlier this week, at a dinner marking the Muslim holy motnh of Ramadan, Bloomberg said not allowing the center to be built would "undercut the values and principles so many heroes died protecting."

Also joining Obama on the course at Vineyard Haven Golf Club Friday - his second to last day on the island - were Vernon Jordan, the Washington lawyer and wise man whom the president dined with earlier in the week, and White House trip director Marvin Nicholson, who has played every round here with the president.

Is backdoor Amnesty another case of TRANSPARENCY?

Posted by: shirleyannlake | August 31, 2010 8:27 AM | Report abuse

Obama and Bloomberg golf while Americans lose their jobs and the deficit goes higher and higher. It is well known that Bloomberg backs Obama's "immigration reform/AMNESTY". That can be confirmed in any newspaper. (Bloomberg along with Disney, Hewlett Packard, Newscorp) all for Amnesty.
You can surely judge politicians by the company they keep. This was not about golf, the pretense is about scheming. Their conversation was probably ABOUT TRANSPARENCY.

Yes, that is something only you could dream. Think about it.

If Bloomberg's involved, it should complete whatever conspiracy involving New York City is being contemplated by Obama.

the desecration of ground zero continues
10 years after the demolition
of iconic towers
The only unequivocal truth we know is thousands of lives were suddenly turned into ashes and nobody has come up with the appropriate design yet to memorialize the victims of twisted assault.
why not?

Looks like Mayor Bloomberg wants a Senate seat. Secondly, I wonder how much money Bloomberg will make off of this Mosque. He doesn't do anything without a financial motive.

"OMG You are such an IDIOT! If the President needed to do everything by himself why would he have a cabinet who then have a staff? Better yet why would he have a Senate and a House of Representatives?"
---------------------------

In my 60 years I've never heard a president speak about what HE has done for this country. Every speech it is "I accomplished...", "I stopped...", "I created...", and my favorite "I am in charge!".

As I listen to him, you have to believe he has no staff, he has no Congress, the Supreme Court is flat out wrong, and He has saved this country from everything that was wrong before he became president during the past four years when the Democrats controlled Congress (yes, Bush had a Democrat-controlled Congress).

This is the "All about Me" president. He takes credit when he can, he places blame when he can, and only positive things happen when He is in Charge.

Image if he actually "did everything by himself"... like work at 40 hour week before 9 am! And flying on AF1 to tell the unemployed how great he is - is not working, it's campaigning...

Why? By your estimation the president is a King and no decision can be made anywhere without him.

IDIOT.

But, Why is The Anti-Christ Obama Destroying America. If you truly want to know what is going on; Then you will have to accept these things as the TRUTH. Once you understand the following things; All things will be understood. So I tell you Obama is Satan on Earth, Lawless One, or what ever else you want to call this Demonic Figure. His words describe him, He is a False Hope, If you listen to him you will love him. He carries a Bow without an Arrow. He will conquer all through his speech, his false hoods will capture all who sit and listen to him.
2 Thessalonians 2:11-12
11And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, 12 that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Well, any attacks on Bloomberg are simply and truly and really political attacks designed to simply attack him because he had the audacity to stand up for the Constitution.
Not only THAT, he had the nerve to go golfing with the President of the United
States. Imagine a Jew going golfing with a secret Muslim who has no legitimate birth certificate anywhere in the whole world (was Barack Obama actually BORN anywhere, by the way?) (well, face it, the Anti-Christ was NEVER actually "born"...he has existed since eternity and simply took over the sperm of a Kenyan and an American woman, and well, there you have it.)
And, GOLFING? Why, on earth should a President of the United States EVER go golfing with anyone anytime.????
I know, he secretly inherited the spirit of Ike and Ike tells him to go golfing. That's it.

Obama is pitiful----there is no way back for him anytime anywhere in the new democratic party.

I am ready for Obama's impeachment

IT WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE IF OBAMA WORRIED ABOUT THE JOBS JOBS JOBS THIS SUMMER INSTEAD OF PLAYING GOLF, BASKETBALL AND PARTYING. "COME ON GUYS, WE'RE ORDERING SHRIMP HERE." WHAT A TOOL YOU DEMOCRATS ELECTED.

The share of young people aged 16 to 24 who were employed this summer fell to 48.9 percent -- the lowest rate on record since 1948.

He played *golf* with the guy.

Kind of like Bush being buddies with Prince Bandar of the Saudi royal family, Jack Abramoff, Ken Lay of Enron, and about half of the guys on Wall Street who brought you the Great Recession.

What did Bloomberg ever do to you? Jeez.

Bloomberg joins Obama's admin? Now I know this administration is evil.

Posted by: RealTexan1 | August 27, 2010 4:15 PM | Report abuse

Sorry if you're offended, but this is America.

We don't favor one religion over another, and we don't let our moral judgments interfere with people's freedoms.

We don't stop freedom just because it's offensive. Hold your nose and be proud of our values. That's what we're fighting for.

People can and should feel free to worship anywhere here, even if you don't like it.

It takes a real narrow, cynical outlook on life to think that Bloomberg takes an unpopular stance just for vague "business interests" in the mid-east.

If it's such an unpopular opinion, wouldn't it be 10 times as detrimental to his interests here at home? Think it through. It's American values, nothing more.

Good for Bloomberg!

Posted by: itstrue | August 27, 2010 3:35 PM | Report abuse

Now we are finding out some disturbing news about Bloomberg, that he may have some future business ventures over in the Middle East, could that be why he is so adamant in offending Americans about his insistance on the mosque at ground zero. Tsk Tsk mayor, where is your transparency .
