Lady Gaga steps into Ariz. law debate

Credit: AP Photo/Evan Agostini
Pop singer Lady Gaga weighed in on the debate surrounding the Arizona immigration law during a concert in Phoenix on Sunday night.

The Arizona Republic reported that roughly midway through the show Gaga explained why she agreed to perform even after being asked by "a couple really big rock-and-rollers, big pop stars, big rap artists" if she would boycott the state as others had done.

"I said, 'Do you really think that us dumb [expletive] pop stars are going to collapse the economy of Arizona?"

Gaga continued her profanity-laden remarks, saying the law created "a state of emergency" in Arizona and calling on objectors to "actively protest."

Late last week, Arizona Judge Susan Bolton blocked the most controversial portions of the immigration law. The decision was considered a victory for opponents of the law, including the Department of Justice, which filed suit in an attempt to prevent the law from taking effect.

Bolton put on hold provisions that would require police to check immigration status if they stop someone while enforcing other laws, allow for warrantless arrests of suspected illegal immigrants and criminalize the failure of immigrants to carry registration papers.

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer (R) has vowed to continue fighting the injunction as far as the Supreme Court if necessary, while other states are considering similar legislation.

This is not the first time Lady Gaga has jumped into a political fray. Late last year the singer delivered a speech at The National Equality March on Capitol Hill. In the speech, she called for a stronger equal rights measures for homosexuals and took a swipe Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.), who called the march "a waste of time."

Don't worry about pop stars, Obama already collapsed the economy for us. Never let a good crisis go to waste.

Immigrations so grand that Americans can't get a job, Brown people defecating on the American Flag and it is unanswered. Do that to a Mexican Flag and they'd kill you. Re-conquest of America is their AIM. The Globalists love this. .

No, orgbluspider, you are glossing over her point(s) which was "I didn't join the boycott because dumb [expletive] pop stars aren't going to collapse the economy of Arizona" BUT "listen to me anyway spew about a law I've never read." Maybe you missed the part where she called on objectors to "actively protest."

Perhaps she would take up a free-will offering during the concert to help reimburse the cost of illegals in Arizona estimated to be over $2.5B.

Lady Gaga may not be the brightest bulb in the bunch, but it is remarkable how many people here were incapable of understanding her point: she agrees, people should not be listening to pop stars.

My boss's daughter was at this concert Sunday night and she said that when Lady Gaga, who calls her followers "her little monsters" was finishing her rant, she implored those who agreed to go "paws UP!" where they raise their hands with the palms facing the stage.

Now those people go back to where they came from and they talk about what they experienced there. People tell me that Lady Gaga is the biggest thing out there in the Pop music world right now so I suggest you ignore her at your peril.

She is quite talented as a singer and anything approaching 'dumb' is all an act. She is very motivated and self-driven; she is not being managed by a bunch of handlers.

I say... you go, Girl!

By The Founder's utopian whig ideals enshrined in Our Creed's three mottoes, America as G-d's Promised Land is "de facto" liberal/left; the Roman Catholic Church is the center of the right-wing: Viz. "History of the French Revolution," Carlyle.

Illegal immigration is an organized invasion for conquest (Viz. "The National Pastoral Plan for Hispanic Ministry," Office of Publishing and Promotion Services, United States Catholic Conference, No. 199-7), by the same institution yet to be brought to justice for financing the rise of Hitler (re: Vatican banker Rockefeller/Knight of Malta Prescott Bush/papal "baron" Fritz Thyssen), committing the Holocaust (Viz. "A Moral Reckoning," Goldhagen), and whose "Fifth Column" traitors assassinated Kennedy and King to send us to die for papal interests in Vietnam.

For no other reason would Our Founder, Author, and Prophet Thomas Jefferson identify it as "the real Anti-Christ." Viz. Letter to Samuel Kercheval, January 19, 1810.

To usurp the People's sovereignty none but fascists wish to promote illegal immigration that the bi-partisan, false elite "Fifth Column" faction which lately committed 9/11 after cheating into office Hitler's banker's grandson and JFK's assassin's son - a dry drunk, draft-dodging closet-queen - not have an American Working/Middle Class with which to contend for power and authority.

What's curious about this post is that the the WaPo has what appears to be an unflattering pic of GaGa and also isn't lionizing her as one would expect. I'm sure it's not because the WaPo has decided to stop supporting illegal activity, so it must be something else.

As for what GaGa supporting being "moral", see the following for what GaGa is engaging in:

"I do love me some Godga, but she misses the point of the protest. It isn't meant to "collapse the economy" in Arizona; it's meant to draw attention to the issue and to take a moral stand one way or another (much like how the buy-cotting was meant to show solidarity with AZ's governor). Boycotts are effective not just because of the potential financial loss, but also (and mostly) because they grab attention.

"Her words from the concert could have easily been said on a blog or at another state's venue. Instead, she chose to make money by holding the concert. It's her right to do so, but her speech is no more active than boycotting is."

Um, her words from the concert IN ARIZONA just gave the Post an excuse to run an online story about Lady Gaga and politics with beaucoup off-topic but eye-catching photos of Gage in concert -- and see clicks and "eyeballs" go through the roof.

With all due respect to dkp01, Lady Gaga needs advice from us online commenters about how to maximize public attention about as much as a fish needs advice on how to swim. She would never have gotten this much coverage from a mere blog post or from a concert located outside the self-created battle zone state of Arizona.

Well, look at it this way. Her video for "Bad Romance" is one of the most inventive and original visual presentations in years, and she's about this close to being 'the next Madonna', which would mean we'd be stuck with her for years, and maybe not such a bad thing.

That being said, she's still a kid and can't be blamed for not actually reading the law as written, and getting a lot of attitude based on rumormongering and idiocy.

And BTW, sweetie: when you say "if it wasn't for you, they wouldn't have anything". That is bunk and close to an outright lie. Illegal aliens from Mexico didn't build New York City, Chicago, or the US nuclear armed forces; heck, I won't even let them work in my yard and it's the 2nd-nicest yard on the block.

If you want to properly credit the building of this great nation, credit the German immigrants, the Irish immigrants, the Scots immigrants, and some brilliant brilliant people who got kicked out of Europe for being Jewish.
Credit the blacks such as George Washington Carver, and many other inventive black geniuses. Credit the Chinese laborers. And to give credit where credit is due, give credit to the LEGAL Mexican immigrants and visa-workers.

Don't give credit to lawbreakers and claim that they alone give us a good life. Okay?

Although I like tacos and chimichangas and look good in a sombrero, I'm against illegal immigration because too many bidders for jobs drives down my $Rate/Hour to impossible levels, turning me into a pauper FOR NO GOOD REASON.

OTOH, I know America NEEDS more CHRISTIANS, essentially, DESPERATELY in order to fend off the demographic challenge from THE CULT OF ISLAM, which AIN'T no RELIGION.

It's all explained...here......
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-3X5hIFXYU

Lady GaGa, KNOWN for her tin-foil hats, better put on a thinking-cap instead.

See, if she were TRUE to her so-called 'principles' she would have OPENED THE GATES of her Arizona concert to ONE-AND-ALL, especially the downtrodden Southern Illegal Alien so that they could 'glam rock' along with her. But, then, the PAYING customers might wonder who was the bigger SUCKER, JOSE' & MARIA from Guadalahara, who don't give-a-damn for 'glam', or, THEM for having PAID and, in-effect SUBSIDIZED the Southerner's good times.

Reminds EVERYONE of what is HAPPENING NOW in the U.S. at large, Americans, subsidizing freeloaders.

Fiscal life would GO SOUTH pretty quick for LGG, who, one suspects, actually DOES know the value of a dollar, threadbare though it may be and so I do not expect further forays into politikin' without portfolio for the dynamic diva.
