Bill O'Reilly to O'Donnell: I have dirt on you, too

Fox News host Bill O'Reilly issued a warning to Delaware Republican Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell on Monday night: I have a tape archive, too.

O'Donnell had canceled an appearance with Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace last Friday in order to attend campaign events in Delaware. "You can have a picnic in Delaware, with all due respect, anytime you want," said O'Reilly. He went on:

"I'm trying to be fair to Christine O'Donnell. She's been on the program a couple of times, and we have some kind of crazy stuff that she said. We're not going to play it yet. I don't think it's relevant - yet. We'd still like Ms. O'Donnell to come on the Factor. I'm not in the business of injuring her. I'd like to see if she's the better candidate."

HBO host Bill Maher has released a series of videos from "Politically Incorrect," an ABC show he hosted during the mid-to-late '90's. The clips show O'Donnell as a teenager speaking about her past with witchcraft among other subjects. Maher has threatened to release one embarrassing video clip every week until O'Donnell appears on his show.

O'Reilly deemed tactics like Maher's as counter-intuitive saying, "I think the more that that kind of stupid stuff surfaces...the stronger...she's gonna get - almost like the tea party stuff."

I think Bill Maher is right about O'Donnell...She's a nut and and airhead. I hope to see a lot of clips on her stupid remarks ... someone should compile them. It would makee a great political ad!!

What a joke O'Reilly is, doesn't think Democrats should bring up witchcraft, but he can call Coons a Marxist. Look the woman is not only scaringly so immature for her age but she is wacko just like the other teabagger women. Republican heads should be spinning from all the dingbats they have. SOOO glad I have Fox tuned out of my T.V so don't have to watch idiots like O'Reilly.

Note to Juan Williams:

Dude, I'm sure they're paying you well there at Fox. I'm sure that the current state of the print-journalism industry makes good-paying jobs almost impossible to come by. I understand that your choices are limited, but man....it's painful to watch you try and be comfortable in Fox World. You're a decent and reasoned person in an indecent and tyrannical universe where your 'Dear Leader' is always watching. It suits Mr. O'Reilly just fine, but you're better than this.

You should at least go talk to Huffington Post. Maybe the money's not so good, but you'll get your soul back. Any children you have will understand.

Does Bill O'Reilly really want to get in a "slime" war? HE also has some pretty juicy stuff he was involved in that cost him a bundle of money to settle. Even if Christine O'Donnell decided to appear on his show she would not get a word in edgewise, he would constantly interrupt and talk over her and she would still not get her message out. Don't do it, Christine. Concentrate on Delaware!

Okay wing nuts, when are we going to talk about Coons, the avowed marxist, who couldn't balance a county budget, yet managed to increase taxes in record amounts and spend like crazy. He sounds like a junior Obama, just what the people of Delaware need.

Well I never thought I would applaud O'Reilly. But of course, I know it's about ratings.

"The clips show O'Donnell as a teenager"

Hey! Emi Kolawole, if this little piece was a "try out" or something, you screwed up big time I think.

A teenager? Are you on drugs?

Posted by: ched | September 22, 2010 10:24 AM | Report abuse

This is uncanny. The woman (O'Donnell)) looks like a Sarah Palin clone - the appearance, the way she talks, the way she moves). Having said that, if she has something of substance to offer, she should not be afraid to appear on any talk show and express her views (even if she annoyingly talks like Sarah Palin), and let the people decide. Unless, of course, the more she talks, the more she buries herself in deep @*#$. What we have here is a lot of talking, a lot of judging, without even understanding the full extent of the issues at hand. That applies to both the candidates, and some of us writing on these sites.

Were the election more academic, were it waged on issues of less personal moment to each of us, it would be different. But who can ignore the witchcraft being practices, not by high-schoolers, but by legislators in Washington hoping to summon prosperity from the other side by spending us into oblivion and taxing us to death? That is the witchcraft that worries all of us. ~ from article by DICK MORRIS

By the way, all you folks who knock O'Reilly -- at least he gets an audience of about 9,000,000 viewers every night. And you're trying to get noticed by a handful of bloggers.

And what is the circulation of WaPo now -- much less than a million. Who is winning the media battle?

O'Reilly laughs at WaPo and you all the way to the bank.

Posted by: RonKH | September 22, 2010 5:12 AM | Report abuse

Great lie in the headline.

At no time did Bill O'Reilly use the word, "dirt." At least you could wait for your left-wing spin until the first paragraph, not the headline.

But I forget, this is left wing WaPo hacks writing to keep their jobs on this liberal rag.

Where are Woodward and Bernstein when we need them. They must be boiling, watching a once fine newspaper fall into the bottom of the birdcage -- no longer useful for anything else.

You guys best get your resumes up to date. With all the losing circulation, WaPo could soon be up for sale like your sister pub, Newsweek -- which sold for $1.00; that's right, one dollar.

Maybe you can work for Obama for two years; they like left-wing hacks over there.

What are you people doing? Ridiculing O'Reilly is Jon Stewart's job. You are killing the intellect of the Teabaggers. In the Palin rally when Teabaggers were asked to name one policy, managed to spout a load of O'Reilly soundbites and not a single policy was heard anywhere.

I would love to hear a winger finally define what is meant by Socialism, Communism or Marxist philosophy. I'll bet it will rhyme with both O'Reilly and witchcraft at the same time! In this country, for well over a century, the wealthy have lived under Socialism while the rest of us have enjoyed the fruits of Capitalism- all under a myth of class mobility and economic opportunity. Look at history my foolish compatriots. We the lower classes are war time fodder and service robots for the elite who run our country. They are the ones who command your nationalism and your debts. They are the ones who monkey with interest rates and lend us cash in return for gov't bonds. They wage the wars for their interests alone and you are the ones who die in battles with a hoo rah. Keep on spending borrowed cash, keep getting fiercely partisan about red herrings so you have absolutely no power at all and above all let them keep doing all your thinking for you. It's just easier. It's American!

so Maher is bad for blackmailing her to come on his show, but O'dirtbag is clever, righteous, doing god's work? He's such a slime ball, how can the right wingers stand him?

So funny his highness demanding she come in and kiss his ring and appease his ego (or considering his track record maybe something a little less family friendly needs appeasing.) it'd be funny if he got caught on tape... again.

Posted by: TisforTwit | September 21, 2010 10:02 PM | Report abuse

I don't follow O'Reilly, having been alienated by what I perceived to be his rudeness to and bullying of an interviewee with whom he disagreed. My "turn-off" was exacerbated by the obvious posterior-kissing of a like-minded sycophant.

However, I agree that public appearances may provide the forum for people to make up their own minds about the suitability f candidates to serve in positions of government trust. Elections that eventually impact all of us is notjust a local responsibility, especially in the case of potential members of Congress. It is through this body--given priority in our Constitution, incidentally, that "we the people" will govern ourselves and "preserve the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity."

Therefore, Ms O'Donnell's intellectual and
moral fitness for the job are everyone's concern. She should be neither vilified nor white-washed nor glorified by media pundits and self-proclaimed experts.

At this point, from what I know about her background and performance to date, I question her suitability, but I am willing to suspend final judgment until evidence is provided to confince me to change my mind. Even then, I am not comfortable "playing God" about anyone else.

The clips, unless I'm missing some that were shot in the 1980s do not show O'Donnell as a teenager. The one from PI was shot when O'Donnell was 29 years old.

I don't know who you think I'm trolling beside the author of the article, who should have enough experience to write a sentence that portrays the situation accurately.

Bill is a far-right wing menace, but he's a professional entertainer first and foremost, and as far from a true journalist as it gets. He sees a "story" here, and of course he knows she's even more right-wing loony than he is, and that she's going to lose, so he wants to look like some voice of moderation and authority in all this. He reminds me a lot of Snape in the Harry Potter books, and she's a real-life Bellatrix LaStrange, each serving Voldemort in their own way. The witchcraft metaphor is intentional.

Since when is it up to the likes of O'Reilly to determine if she is the better candidate???? I think the folks in Delaware are the people that determine that. Why doesn't he just keep his mouth shut??? This is the press and tabloid-on-TV people like O'Reilly trying to smear a woman the Republicans are having fits over because she won. Guess he is trying to have her defeated unless she comes on his show and he determines if she is fit to "win". Another one we can be really proud of. Nit-pick, nit-pick. Why don't they go after the politicians that are presently under Ethics Committee investigation for the big things and stop nit-picking this woman to death? Let the people of Delaware make the final decision not some talk show host who just likes to argue and show a lot of arrogance. I know, let's talk about O'Reilly's arrogance! Now that could take up 4-5 shows and have some real merit!

I'd pick the candidate who will oppose the Obama agenda which includes, but not limited to; cap 'n tax, card check, full implementation of Obamacare. Americans in general, including those in Delaware, are NOT happy with this agenda and will not support it. Hopefully, Delawareans will figure out which candidate will best support their wishes whilst serving as a US Senator.

janet8 said: I'd vote for her any day than a tax and spend liberal.

Your candidate, on her last income tax return, showed an income of $5,800. She has no other visible means of support and is not employed. Will you still vote for her when it is clearly shown that she has been living off of campaign donations - in violation of Federal law and the IRS? My guess is that you would - Tea Baggers don't really care about the law and the quality of their candidates.

I sure hope she's naked!

Ms. O'Donnell is a nut case and now 15% down in the latest fox news poll. Six more weeks and she is irrelevant again whether she goes back and becomes a witch or pays her bills who really cares as long as she isn't in the Senate. Thank you Tea Partiers for giving the Republican line to O'Donnell and the Senate seat to the Democrats.

What's he angling for? I think that satanic alter thing turned him on.

Yes, and lets not forget janet8, the poster who actually believes in mice with fully functioning human brains! Is anyone surprised she also believes in the fictitious "liberation 'theology'"?
I'd rather vote for a human with a fully functioning human brain than one who thinks and says the crazy things that O'Donnell goes on about.

At no time during the 1990s was Christine O'Donnell a teenager. She was born in 1969.

What I think is so interesting about this is that Bill Maher is on record as an atheist and a hedonist (hangs out at the Playboy Mansion) so he's the polar opposite of the Tea Party folks. But O'Reilly has made his reputation as a proud, loud mouthed defender of middle American values, so for him to go after O'Donnell, she must be too far out on the fringe even for him. Extraordinary--cannibalism on the right.

Posted by: jhpurdy | September 21, 2010 2:52 PM | Report abuse

Wow. When oreally actually threatens a fellow traveller she must scare even them. How crazed is this woman that rove, who would support a cannibal running on the gop ticket, and oreally who has pushed conservative hate speech to the point where his listeners have commited heinous acts of violence, both are after her?

And let's not forget O'Donnell's opponent Coons, the Democrat who:

In his county he raised property taxes by 5% in 2006, raised them again by 17.5% in 2007, and again another 25% in 2009. Coons has proposed to raise hotel taxes, paramedic taxes and on taxes on 911 calls!

Oh, and Coons dabbled in Liberation Theology, you know the same theology as Obama's Rev. Wright.

Coons also supports the Health Care Bill and won't repeal it.

And the Washington Post won't report any of this. Wonder why? Maybe Coon will lose to O'Donnell if the word gets out?

No matter what is said of O'Donnell, she did well in her debate against Coons last Thursday, shhh, don't mention that bit of news and I'd vote for her any day than a tax and spend liberal.

O'Reilly doesn't really need any tapes, he can cast his lies, rumors, misinformation with that silly ("you can't tell me anything I don't know") smug on his face, and crowd anyone out with his rude interruptions while conducting his "interviews". What a numb-nutty.

O'Reilly telling O'Donnell that he has dirt on her is like the boss saying that the beatings will continue until morale improves.

Threats, from Bill O'Reilly?
Talk about a classless jerk.

At least when Walter Winchell used his media power to unethically influence a free and fair election he hid his daggers behind witty wordplay that was the equal of Shakespeare or Twain.

Instead we get dull-thud O'Reilly, who with this tactic reminds everyone that he once paid off someone to keep other tapes from becoming public.

O'Reilly has proof that Obama and our fine country have been put under a curse by the Tea Partying covens of O'Donnell and thousands of other secret societies. They plan to undo their spells after they have conjured victory. This is the only explanation for such aberrant and delusional behavior by voters. Americans are hexed and bewitched. No one in their right mind would cast ballots for these demonically empowered creatures. O'Reilly knows O'Donnell was spawned by Satan. He has seen her birth certificate. She's against abortions because she needs babies for her sick ceremonies.

He's probably too late, the clips from his show are already surfacing on the net. On YouTube is a segment from his show a few years ago where she talked about human cloning in very bizarre terms, to where O'Reilly was obviously against her. Im sure there will be more posted on the net long before Bill gets the nerve to show them.

Now that the Teabag Republicans are winning control of the dog pack they call a political party, I am amused at candidates like this bimbo...tho, is there really so much difference between certifiables like this and Mc Cain or Kyl (or Bill O'Reilly)?

Oh my, if the Fox dispicables are threatening O'Donnell that incompetent really has a problem.
Love it!!

I think she is a perfect candidate to show just what kind of politicians we can have if you are just believe in your of hearts that anger is truth. Secretive about finances and apparently a crook to boot. She will represent the TEA party crowd with all her heart and their money.
It's a great country.

What exactly was this woman's claim to fame when she was making these appearances? I've heard nothing of a career or background that would have warranted her being on the tube so much back in the big hair days or any other time. She strikes me as a cheerleading beauty contestant type who has nothing but her exterior to offer. Sound like anyone else we met approximately 2 years ago?

"I'm trying to be fair to Christine O'Donnell. She's been on the program a couple of times, and we have some kind of crazy stuff that she said. We're not going to play it yet. I don't think it's relevant - yet. We'd still like Ms. O'Donnell to come on the Factor. I'm not in the business of injuring her. I'd like to see if she's the better candidate."
======================================
Bill O'Reilly is getting to be a royal pain in the butt...He doesn't say that I would like to see if I think she's the better candidate...He says If she is....just why does he think he's the expert...I'm sure he'll be checking here...Being the WALPO wrote about him and added I have dirt on you too.....So Bill O'Reilly...Shut the whinning up.....

Posted by: restephens11 | September 21, 2010 2:03 PM | Report abuse

I think this reporting is incorrect. The Bill Maher clips don't show O'Donnell as a teenager on his show. They show her as an adult, looking back and talking about her teenage years.

Posted by: fairfaxvoter1 | September 21, 2010 2:02 PM | Report abuse

Ms. O'Donnell is reponsible only to the voters in Delaware and not the yapping media, including O'Reilly. Maher is a worn out hack who sounds like he drinks all his meals from brown paper bags. He deserves a swift kick in the balls, if he has any!

O'Reilly is withholding the tape because it will further damage O'Donnell and he does not want to do it. So he asking her to get on the show or face the consequences.
