Dentist starts 2012 ad race by touting Hillary Clinton for president

This could make for awkward chatter at the White House: Even before the 2010 midterms are over, a Chicago dentist has started the 2012 ad race with a spot that supports Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for president.

The $5,000 ad began running on television in New Orleans on Wednesday, CNN reports, and it will soon run in Washington, New York and Los Angeles, and possibly Houston, said William DeJean.

Asked why he paid to create and run the ad, DeJean told CNN, "I don't think this country is headed in the right direction. ... I think she is the most qualified."

The ad, a 30-second spot, features a soaring, almost sci-fi-movie quality theme. On-screen text tells viewers that Clinton "has more experience working in and with The White House than most living presidents. ... She is one of the most admired women in our nation's history. ... Let's make sure the president we should have elected in 2008 will be on the ballot in 2012." The graphic fades to reveal a photo of Clinton and the words, "Hillary 2012: Hillary Clinton for president," and "Start Now. Where there's a Hill there's a way."

This is not the first time DeJean has run ads, CNN reports; he bought ad time in support of Clinton during the 2008 election.

Clinton has dismissed any talk of another presidential bid, saying repeatedly in interviews that she will not run again:

Obama has failed.
He failed spending one year on a healthcare plan that may never work.

We can say Obama has done many things. He has not help the black community move on to a better place. He failed the gay population. He made more needless war. There are now 26,000,000 people unemployed.

Hillary Clinton was a far better choice. I am a lifelong Democrat and he is our worst president ever.

NocheGarcia,newagent99,ohioan.....and the rest of your ilk should please stop posting comments. They only highlight your bigotry, stupidity, and ignorance. For the record, the President has accomplished a great deal since taking office. First, turn of Fox News and use what little brains you may actually have to discern between fact and propaganda. Secondly, try as hard as it may be for you, to READ with understanding and objectivity. Third, go back to school and get an education (actually listen this time to the teachers). Fourth, stop blaming others for your inadequacies! They are your! Not the governments, not Hispanics, not Blacks, not women, and not the "other guys". they are yours and your alone. So stop your attempts at scapegoating. If this country had been served by patriotic Americans from the Republican side of the aisle instead of a concentrated effort to attack, malign, denegrate the President, he may have accomplished more than he has! Fox News and the Republicans are never going to admit it and have made every effort to downplay any accomplishments. In fact, they have made it almost impossible for him to do anything at all! But yet, he has...with no help from the republicans who have shown themselves to be more concerned for their party winning in 2010 and 2012 than any concern for you. But you are too )*&*^&^^& ignorant to realize it. They have made every attempt to make things worse so your dumb &^&%# will blame the President and then vote for them. And you know what? It works every time! Create a fear and the ignorant and dumb and bigots will follow you....invariably to their doom! So I hope the Republicans give you everything you deserve! After all, they got us into this mess and you obviously want to reward them for it. And of course when they get in power they will whine and moan about needing the Democrats to do the exact opposite of what they have not given one inch of....BIPARTISANSHIP! Go figure... Oh and by the way, please don't procreate! We can't stand to have another generation of non thinking citizens or ones who are easily duped. If you already have them, please consider allowing them to be raised by someone else! For the sake of our country!

Her opponents tried to show HRC's foreign policy experience was her short suit in 2008. Obama corrected that problem; it will cost him dearly in 2012.

This is just one more attempt to defeat Barack Obama by any means possible. He had the mendacity to run for president, even though he was not quite the political insider we usually see trying for that office, and he won, and now he won't do as he is told. Get over it!!!

Maybe, if the individual who paid $5000 for the ad would do something to support President Obama, instead of leaving him hanging in the wind, and use his money to slam the moronic right wing republicans, the president would be in a better position to carry out policies more to his liking. Did that ever occur to him?

Hillary and Biden will switch places before the next election to position her as the Democrats' heir apparent in 2016. That will give her the executive experience she needs to succeed Obama.

Meanwhile, I hope the Secret Service is keeping an eye on Dr. DeJean. His actions seem a little creepy and obsessive to me.

I'd rather see Hillary try running as the Governor of New York first and if she won, prove that she can govern. Being a US Senator and Sec. of State doesn't mean that you'll be able to govern.

Shillary Clinton
Hillary Clinton is probably the most egotistical person to ever seek the Presidency. It was her’s to loose in the 2008 cycle but she did to a slick, well handled and coached Manchurian Candidate. She is also every bit the liar that Bill Saffire said she was. Her word and integrity are worthless but maybe that makes her a good Democrat candidate. She is so egotistical that if she sees a good way to get herself into the Whitehouse again she would. Her possibilities are two. She could sign on as a VP for Comrade Obama in 2012 in which case the worst thing that could happen would be his reelection subsequent to which he fails ever worse. With her as his VP, he would need a Platoon of food tasters and would never be able to allow her out of his sight. The second possibility is to abandon him and force him into a Democrat Primary for the 2012 cycle. The blood letting in such a Primary would probably damage the Democrat Party more that it is already. Bottom line is there is no nice way for her to pull it off but her ego would cause her to pursue that action regardless of how nasty it proved to be or how badly it would disfigure the Democrat Party. She could make the point that she is not a Socialist like Obama but most would doubt that. To her credit I don’t believe she is the Marxist that Obama is and she probably could convince enough sheep that she was truthful. As an Independent I would be so amused by the theater and blood letting necessary to pull it off but YOU GO GIRL!

catmomtx, I agree with you about the Republicans' fear of intelligent women, but I'd say you're way off base in asserting that they like Sarah Palin because they can "manipulate and control her."

It doesn't seem that ANYBODY can control Sarah. She's a total loose cannon.

And I wish I could agree with you that "the American people are not stupid." If that were true, there wouldn't be a Tea Party, and there wouldn't be anybody listening to Fox News.

Posted by: herzliebster | September 3, 2010 9:36 PM | Report abuse

Oh for goodness sakes. This is B.S plain and simple. One more thing that the right wing has cooked up to scare and smear. Republicans hate the Clinton's as much or more than they hate President Obama. Republicans do not know how to deal with intelligent, assertive, aggressive females. They are intimidated by intelligent people because they can't manipulate them. That is why they hate and have always hated Hillary and Nancy Pelosi. That is why they think Sarah Palin is so wonderful. They can manipulate and control her. Republicans meddling in the Democratic primaries are the reason Hillary Clinton is not President today. It just backfired on Republicans after McCain brought Sarah Palin on board. The American people are not stupid! And, make no mistake they would treat Hillary Clinton just as bad or worse than they are treating Obama.

Wish she had won in 2008

Her running in 2012 however could be very uncomfortable for the administration given her current role.

But many things can change in a year.

It's too early for lawn signs!

Posted by: onthejourney | September 3, 2010 8:44 PM | Report abuse

I think it's wonderful. Even the Democratic party members are disgusted with POTUS. There may be hope for America yet if ordinary citizens can come together and deny Obama a second run for office. Congratulations to the dentist who has the conviction to try and start the dialogue. Only through working together can we bring back hope and pride in our country. Under Obama no one is happy with his presidency. He is too far left for this country. If Democrats can bring the people another candidate let's talk about 2012. There is NO discussion with Obama in the way.

I think anyone here posting more than one negative attack regarding Hillary needs to step back and evaluate the anger. There is something more going on than a difference of opinion. Perhaps volunteer word or a hobby might put feelings like this into perspective. Volunteer to help others! It's a wonderful thing to do.

I am disgusted, with few exceptions, at the level of discourse on this topic. Since when can one person impact the entire nation? WE are the reason for this disaster. We weren't watching to see what changes were made over the last decade. It took nearly nine years for this economic situation to come to a head. Certainly, there isn't anyone posting here who would deny that. Even with the safeguards put in place after the Great Depression, this economic disaster was on a similar level. It took more than two decades, until World War II for the economy to recover from the last great economic disaster that began for the Midwest and other parts of the country early in the 1920s. The U.S. Congress under the Bush Administration withdrew many of the safeguards put in place to guard against this type of disaster. Some, including the stock regulations, were removed during the second Clinton Administration. Any president or US Congress is not going to pass laws that satisfy everyone. Can we focus on the big picture here instead of the minutiae of the angry? Whenever economic times are tough, the hate against minorities develops. Read history. It's easy to rally bigots and the ignorant around simple themes and causes. This man has the right to take out ads for any candidate he wishes. Deal with it. Can we now talk about specific ways to assist our President Obama and the US Congress in dealing with our economic problems? SPECIFICS, folks, not merely buzz words and empty rhetoric.

Otherwise a complete unknown, except for all the crooked deals she managed to escape prosecution for.
Oh yeah, there was that time in Bosnia where she had to dodge enemy bullets!

Touting Hillary for president in 2012, when it is only 2010 speaks to the absolute desperation and denial evident among democrats. After two more years of BO and friends in the White House, Hillary can be shown on a UTube video to have wings and be walking on water, and if she's a democrat, she won't get elected. You all are toast for quite awhile.

If the Democrats don't want a repeat of the shellacking due them on election night November 2010 they will have to present the country with a new candidate. Obama will never ever get elected for another term. So as a Democrat do you switch to a new candidate with a hope of winning or do you allow your party to be carpet bombed by angry voters. Allowing Obama to run with cost you another four years with a GOP president.

Hillary is part of an administration that wants to fundamentally change this country: "redistribute the wealth". This is a radical "change".. not just any change.
I would never take anyone seriously or even consider voting for anyone from this administration. They pulled a fast one on the American people. They rammed ObamaCare down our throats and we can never trust anyone in this administration.
Besides, during the campaign in 2008, Obama Democrats accused Hillary and her husband of racism, along with other ungodly things, so why would anyone vote for her?
Didn't she also lie about being in a combat zone with her daughter Chelsea?
If this is Democrat's plan, all I have to say is Hahahahaha!
Democrats have spent more since Obama was elected-- than what was spent on the entire
Iraq War! Hahahahahahaha!

GREAT! The Republican respnse = 1) pull out all of the snarky comments about John McCain's age in 2008 and insert hillary's name; 2) play and replay and replay the meeting before an oriental group in which she attacked a young woman when she thought her husband's opinion was being sought (and carefully explain it was a problem in translation when she lost it). Case made!

An interesting question that was posed in that article was, if the dentist only accepts to have paid for the $5000 in production costs, who is paying for the airtime. That has to be way more than $5000.

To all who are disillusioned with the current administration, I agree. But - even though it is not great, don't forget how much worse it was under Bush. Republicans are not the answer, but the problem. Obama is not the answer.
Hillary Clinton is the most intelligent, articulate, foresighted and compassionate leader this country could elect, if they can get past the nastiness, the sexism, the bitter partisan attitude, and the downright ignorance which has been so evident in the past.
Somehow, however, I expect a lot of these type of nasty, ad hominum attacks against Hillary, mostly by those who could not hold a candle to her.

Greatgran1 you can take your phony outrage and stuff it. I am big Hillary fan even though I voted for the president, but I am one of those people who do not wish to see her run in 2012. Why the heck should she. After her run as SOS she needs to take a break and chill. She will be 65 in 2012 she doesn't need all that aggravation. Hope Chelsea gives her a grandchild by then so that she can be a doting grandma. To all the feminists who are going to be outraged by my suggestion, you also need to chill.

Ok, to my point. Hell yeah!! If president Obama is still polling low and he has still not delivered, I would hope he would be gracious, like LBJ and refuse to run! Why not? Is not the cause more important than the person?

That is exactly what Hillary Clinton said to us. " I ask you, was this really about me?" I knew at that point I had to let go and vote for Obama, even though I was angry.

Obama, I ask you, "Is this really about you?" I would hope he would be as gracious as Hillary was, if he finds himself in the situation where he is absolutely going to lose to a republican. Heaven forbid we have our progress stopped by the very man whom we believed would be the change we can believe in!
