Ohio Democratic chairman calls 'tea partiers' a nasty name

By Matt DeLong
It's not uncommon for political partisans to get excited when delivering a speech about a topic they care about. What is unusual is for the head of a state party to use foul language to describe political opponents in front of an audience -- even a friendly one. That's what happened Tuesday Monday when Ohio Democratic Party Chairman Chris Redfern gave a speech before members of a steelworker's union in Clarington, Ohio.

WTOV-TV reports that the United Steelworkers union was endorsing a number of Democrats, including Gov. Ted Strickland, when Redfern used an expletive to describe "tea party" activists who oppose Democratic efforts to overhaul the health-care system.

"If your kids are going to graduate from college, now he or she gets health care, your heath care, while he or she looks for a new job," Redfern said. "It's in the very base terms we win these arguments. Every time one of these [expletive] says, excuse my language...

Redfern has company in cursing the tea partiers in public. In June, Colorado Republican Ken Buck, who is running for Senate, apologized after a hot mic caught him using an expletive to refer to tea party folks who question the president's citizenship.

On an audio tape obtained by the Denver Post, Buck was caught muttering "will you tell those [expletive] at the tea party to stop asking questions about birth certificates while I'm on the camera?" outside a June 11 event in Crowley, Colo.

Given that most Ohio tea partiers probably won't vote for union-backed Democrats, Redfern is less likely to pay much of a price for his faux-pas.

Update at 5:19 p.m.: Not only is Redfern not apologizing, the Ohio Democratic Party has sent out a fundraising email an email titled "No apologies," aiming to recruit volunteers from the remark.

The Dems get really nasty when they are desperate.
They are running away from Obama as fast as they can, and have nothing positive to run on.
So all they can do is smear.
Just look at the States that are doing the worst in the USA, all Liberal Progressive, California, New York, Illinois, etc.
This is what their Union, Social Justice, and Redistribute the wealth corruption brings you and the blacks who blindly vote for them.

This just shows how low class, dirty dealing, cheesy, greasy pathetic and desperate these Democrats are when they are facing defeat. These shameless pitiful Democrats are seen for what they truly are - losers. The Tea Party is full of all walks of life wanting smaller government, fiscal responsibility, adherence to our Constitution and promotion of capitalism that has served us well.
We are standing strong against this progressive radical movement that is ruining our country. Cass Sunstein thinks we are Homer Simpsons. Well I'll show you Homer Simpsons you classless barbarian creep.

The Dems have "supported(?)" the Unions by bashing the coal industry (UMW), Take over of Auto and slaughtering shareholders many of who were Auto Workers (UAW), No clear tax policy that inhibits job growth, more regualtion that kills jobs...WITH FRIENDS LIKE the DEMS Who Needs Enemies?

As for the comments of the Idiot running the Dems in Ohio... he is upset that a voter might have a cognigent thought and not have to be told how to vote...Oh how dare the people.

boboberg! The head of the dem party in Ohio calls the tea party a filthy name; the stimulus failed; at least 15% unemployment; huge government takeovers of private sector companies, and you say the tea partiers are the PROBLEM? There may have been a republican president for two terms past, but the democrat controlled congress is what makes the real decisions about spending... the responsibility lies with the policies and laws coming out of a long-time democrat controlled legislatures. Just look at California to see where this nation is headed. It is the tea party that will bring sanity back to those who will once again represent the people and not the democrat party and the unions

As they say, a gaffe is a politician telling us the truth.

I'm baffled by the Tea Partiers wanting to "take back" the country. Didn't they have it for almost all of the past 30 years? Taxes drastically cut for the rich, business deregulated, zero progress on energy, zero progress on health care financing until just now…Their agenda has held sway and look where it's gotten us. Since their ilk has shown no leadership for 30 years, they need to follow or get out of the way.

The tea party has no answers to our problems, the tea party IS our problem. The tea party is just a sad group of old, white, racist bigots who are all going to die naturally very soon so they have NOTHING to say about our future. They can't stand the fact that we have a black president and when they howl "TAKE BACK AMERICA!!!" they mean to take it back from the minorities. They represent only the top 3% richest Americans so they are our cultural enemies. Barrack, don't dignify those low lifes by asking them for suggestions. Mark Montgomery boboberg@nyc.rr.com
