Joy Behar insults Sharron Angle; Angle sends flowers (Updated)

By Emi Kolawole
Updated 10/28/2010 2:51 p.m.: Joy Behar has apologized. "The View" regular said she "really shouldn't have" insulted Sharron Angle, the Nevada GOP candidate for U.S. Senate, and went on to say that she meant the insult as a term of endearment. "I reserve that word for people that I know and love," said Behar, after which point she proceeded to call all of her co-hosts her word-that-rhymes-with-itches.

Joy Behar, CNN host and a regular on "The View," called Republican Senate candidate Sharron Angle a word that rhymes with "itch" on "The View" on Tuesday and said that Angle could "go to Hell."

On Wednesday, the ladies of "The View" reconvened, except this time Behar announced that the Senate challenger from Nevada had taken a dig at her. "This morning, I get these flowers from Sharron Angle," says Behar before pulling the card from her bra. "It says, 'Joy, raised $150,000 online yesterday. Thanks for your help. Sincerely, Sharron Angle." Behar went on, claiming that the flowers were picked by illegal immigrants, and "they're not voting for you, [expletive]."

"You were so offensive to many people that they will raise money to whomever you disapprove of," host Barbara Walters responded. Walters admonished Behar, saying, "You can criticize as you do, it's your right...but I don't think you should tell anybody to go to Hell."

Behar walked her comments back slightly, but eventually took a final swipe at Angle: "Don't send me flowers, Sharron Angle. Put your money where your mouth is."

Behar starts reading the note at the 1:30 mark.

Imagine how quickly Elizabeth Hasselbeck would have been thrown under the bus by her left wing bosses had she walked off "The View" during a Chris Matthews appearance or called a Democratic candidate the B word. The double standard is transparent and unappealing. Ms. Walters and Mr. Geddie have lost control because they have gotten sucked into liberal elite web that confirms that whatever represents "their side" is right and presentable to all. They could not be thinking more unclearly. Did you see Joy Behar's image on the "Today Show" this morning? The topic was the rude, crude and uncivil society we are becoming. Congratulations on the publicity Joy and friends.

I feel sorry for Behar's limited vocabulary; maybe she should take some evening classes on the English language. She may really need to brush up after her ratings drop like a rock. You go girl!

Wow people. Only bloodthirsty, threatened liberals naturally agree with angry, bitter, heartless people like Behar. I can take or leave Angle, but Behar sounds absolutely desparate to have to go that far. Even the of late spineless Walters (what has happened to her?) scolded her for insinuating that Behar should go to hell. The View must have jumped the shark and is desparately trying to remain relevant. Did not see the show, but did Hasselbeck even intervene?

Iremember when Barbara was considered a respectable, intelligent, well-informed journlist. Such s shame to see her keeping company with the likes of Joy Behar. What s bitter, hateful, miserable creature Joy Baher is. Sharron Angle's just a kid and she's young and pretty and apparently that's what stirs the hatred in Ms. Baher. Her hatred for Sara Palin is another thing I can't understand. Seems to me she's the devil and has somewhat sgainst anyone of faith. When, oh WHEN, will that bitter, old-woman learn to keep her trashy, filth-laden mouth shut? What a fine example she's setting for her daughter.

At what point is Barbara Walters going to develop a backbone and can Behar? Theatrics is great for ratings but this woman is unprofessional and acts more like she belongs on a reality show.

Behar, however repugnant her program is, should not have to apologize to a woman who owns this little gem:

"People ask me, 'What are you going to do to develop jobs in your state?' Well, that's not my job as a U.S. senator." –Sharron Angle, May 14, 2010

Well, you unemployed tea partiers--have fun! You get whatcha deserve.

I'd pay good money to never see any of the women on "The View" again. For that matter I'd pay good money to never see Sharon Angle or Bill O'Reilly again either.

Joy did NOT tell Angle to 'go to hell.' When Sherry said she would pray for Angle, Joy said not to bother because she was going to Hell. Either way, Joy is so great for defying Bill Geddy and saying it the way it is. Angle wouldn't even be welcome in Hell.

"Joy Behar is an American treasure"

Don't make fun of Joy like that. The woman is at best a slow adult, but I don't think that warrants making fun of her like that.

I don't think she has any political philosophy that isn't whispered to her when her caretakers drive her home in the evenings.

Angle is even battier than O'Donnell and Bachmann. Like most tea-psychos, she wants to end Social Security and Medicare. She would force women to bear the babies of rapists. She wants to revive prohibition. She isn't even qualified to be a leader within an asylum.

Joy Behar is an American treasure. Angle is an embarrassment but as the Bible says, "This, too shall pass."
We have in Angle, a religious fanatic who jabbers constantly unless there is a member of the fourth estate (the press, boobs) within hearing distance. Then she scurries as fast as ever her little legs will carry her someplace, any place, where the bad old reporters can't ask her any questions.
Well, to be fair, she did say she would answer the questions if the press would ask only the ones she wanted to answer. I swear, that is exactly what she said.
U.S. Senator Angle. It has a certain "aroma" to it.
Party on, dudes.

Will Sahrron Angle apologize to the Hispanic students she insulted?

The right goes all frothy mouth whenever someone attacks them but they never ever see anything wrong when a righty says it.

Heck, the right can't even find the decency to apologize for their filthy mouths and the innuendo, rumor and downright lies coming out of them.

If the right is not elected many of them are promising to go 2nd amendment.

Hopefully when they do, they will dig a hole, stand in it and place their 2nd amendment in their mouth and pull the trigger. Then - at least - we will not have to clean up their mess like we are having to do with the national debt created by the right.

Gosh. Joy Behar is TOTALLY out of control and I consider myself a progressive. No matter how awful Sharon Angle may be--and her proposed policies are awful--you simply don't use that word on a morning television show. I personally don't like the word to be used period! You can respectfully disagree without being disagreeable. I think she was poor all her life, she finally has some money now, it's gone to her head, and NOW she thinks she can say or do anything and get away with it. As my grandmother would say, she's the perfect example of someone who's not "used to anything."

I've watched Behar twice and each time have gasped at the malice which leaps out of her mouth like a frog's tongue snaps out and leaps at its prey. She's not a normal woman, and those who admire her do so because of the same reason that some people like to watch dogs tortured. To give her a CNN platform to speak is disgusting. No one should criticise the KKK or Hitler as long as Behar is allowed to preach. They're the same.

Strange that you start out objectively commenting on the antics of Behar (and Goldberg / O'Reilly). However, you then sink to a similar level with your name-calling.
I'm not an O'Reilly fan, but I do watch occasionally just as I tune in to MSNBC at times.
The blatant attacks on individuals such as Sarah Palin, O'Donnell of Delaware, and Sharron Angle occur non-stop on MSNBC.
FOX does not criticize anyone without presenting the opposing side. You know, fair and balanced without the "tingles" up and down the leg when Obama speaks, a la Chris Matthews.
I am offended by the banter and disrespect for women, just because they choose to run for office.
I think that FOX leans Right but they do always allow for opposing views.....you seem to be a little more in favor of the personal attacks than fairness to all.

Classless is classless. Intelligent people know the difference between appropriate and inappropriate.

By the way, she mentioned that "ILLEGALS" won't be voting for Sharron Angle-- I hope not, and not for Reid either -- but lots of them are committing fraud on a daily basis with stolen SS #'s.

Barbara Walters has to share some of the blame for the trashy direction The View has taken. Allowing Behar to use the language she did in referencing Angle without reigning her in made Barbara Walters share equally in the lack of class displayed. Joy Behar has always been rather silly and loud and classless but this time she went too far not once but twice. Shame on Barbara Walters. No point in naming Behar's behavior as shameful since she wouldn't understand as she is beyond shame. Her continued presence can only completely destroy any attempts of The View to be taken seriously and thus The View will lose viewers - big time.

I don't watch the View, though every few years I check it out. Most of the women are fabulous, funny and informed yet for the most part I find the show boring and petty - like their strength and impact are watered down somehow.
These last shows - the O'Reilly walk-out and using profanities against Angle - it is as if Behar and Goldberg lost their ability to be articulate when they are angry so they had to resort to child's behavior. Too bad as they lost the opportunity to have a conversation and inform the public of their views. I suggest they take a course in how to intelligently express themselves when they are faced with corrupt and dishonest people who anger and disgust them. For there was lots to say to both O'Reilly and Angle about their bigoted, self-absorbed presentations - one as a rag journalist posing as a news caster spreading gossip and fabricated untruths, the other as a right-wing candidate, both who are damaging this country and spreading lies, and instilling fear, discord, acrimony and anger.
Unfortunately, both O'Reilly and Angle are successful. We need informed journalists and well spoken news casters, talk show hosts to speak up and speak back and help educate people about the biases passed as news, skewed statistics, lies, - let people know what is really going on.
When you leave the room and/or use obscene language to express strong feelings - it only offends not informs.

I have enjoyed The View in the past, not now.
If ABC and Barbara Walters had any integrity, they would can Joy Behar... she makes The View the laughingstock of daytime fare.
She is truly repulsive and ignorant....really, is she that stupid????

I'm no Angle supporter, but that pitiful excuse for a journalist needs to be handed a pink slip. This is not appropriate behaviour from a journalist.

Just as Juan Williams got the boot for inappropriate comments like this, Behar needs to be terminated.

I used to really enjoy the View. The past couple of weeks the show has become so trashy and ridiculous that I am refusing to watch it anymore. We still have the choice to change the channel. That says it all.

Who knows if Angle is lying for effect (most likely), but this just proves that Behar is right. Nevada voters have gotta be as dumb as dirt if they vote for her (Angle, not Behar)!

how dare anyone incite a liberal(BEHAR).she is just a dried up old commedienne.when you back a liberal into a corner it will be everybody`s fault but their own, just ask rachel maddow or keith olberman.

Joy Behar has become a mean-spirited loudmouth who viciously attacks anyone who doesn't share her political ideology.

Although I don't feel that McCain was the right choice for the Republican presidential candidate, he and his wife did not deserve the rudeness that she displayed toward them on the View in 2008.

I liked Behar when she did standup comedy. Now I can't stomach her.

Joy should be cast as one of the low-life housewives of New Jersey :) Who does she not hate?

Joy, I used to be a fan of yours but not anymore! You are getting too dramatic and outright rude!

If ABC had the balls, Behar and Goldberg should have been fired when they walked off the set the first time.

This time it just goes to show that trash is the in thing. They just don't have the balls to fire anyone.

In any other business, they both would have been out on their ass
