Palin: I won't 'waste my time' with Katie Couric

By Rachel Weiner

In an interview with Fox News' Sean Hannity airing Monday night, Sarah Palin said she wouldn't bother to talk to Katie Couric again.

"I would look forward to being more open than I already am," she said when asked about another sitdown with the CBS anchor. "As for doing an interview, though, with a reporter who already has such a bias against whatever it is that I would come out and say? Why waste my time? No."

"I want to help clean up the state that is so sorry today of journalism," she added. "And I have a communications degree. I studied journalism -- who, what, where, when, and why of reporting. I will speak to reporters who still understand that cornerstone of our democracy, that expectation that the public has for truth to be reported. And then we get to decide our own opinion based on the facts reported to us. So a journalist, a reporter who is so biased and will, no doubt, spin and gin up whatever it is that I have to say to create controversy, I swear to you, I will not my waste my time with her. Or him."

Watch:

Palin's stumbles in her one-on-one with Couric before the 2008 election led some conservatives to wonder if she was ready to be vice president. Palin defenders have pointed to a clip of Couric joking about the names of Palin's children as evidence of the anchor's bias.

In her memoir "Going Rogue," Palin claimed that she only agreed to an interview with Couric because a McCain campaign staffer told her the journalist had low self-esteem. A McCain adviser dismissed that version of events, saying that everyone on the campaign thought it would be good to get her out there: "She refused to engage in any preparation. And it was a disaster."

Lol. Palin must think the Rest of us are as stupid as her sheep. No doubt Couric asks intelligent questions and Palin doesn't know anything!! Palin's ignorance was so obvious during the Couric interview, she was embarrassed. Heck... I despise Palin and I could hardly watch how badly Palin was making a complete fool out of herself. It was horrific. The interview by far gave critical insight into Palin's lack of knowledge, and how unqualified she was, (and still is) to become the VP of the United States.

The Political Soap Opera which is Miz Sary, continues as the most profitable game in town.
LARRY THE CABLE GUY is reported to be the highest earning goofball "comic" in the world at better than $40-Million annually.
~~"First Dude Todd" after a checkered career with a snow-machine shop, open whale boat seasonal fisherman, North Slope clerical worker for the oil patch [Where he pilfered confidential records and gave them to state officials -- What could possibly have prevented criminal charges?
~~First daughter starring as the nation's most famous unwed teenage mother.
~~ The star of this show; after wandering among five colleges and universities during seven campus changes; Capped her small town political career with more than $20-MILLION in debt saddling the previously debt-free City of Wasilla, before promoting herself into the governor's chair. Her proven skill -- jumping into accomplished reform actions to claim credit.
THEN lightning in the form of John McCain struck. Permitting the Palin family to dress expensively as the nation's best known po' folks charity case. (Beats the thrift stores.)
~~The teenager's "sperm donor" was a dearly loved "son-in-law to be" for a few months, then became a nude model, briefly returned to his babie's side, departed, and is now seeking Miz Sary's old job as Mayor. [One person did suggest Levi might get his GED first.]
~~ Celebrity Sary is banking book sales receipts, Fox hosting income, proceeds from her "Alaska Reality Show" and Six Figure speaking fees -- Multiple millions for a former small market TV weather girl, who can see Russia and malaprops into supporting our "North Korean Allies" this week.
She is a total stranger to Truth and Facts."
Katy Couric is not worth her time, because she could not provide an intelligent answer to routine questions during a long, gentle and sympathetic interview.
For the GOP to invest $150,000 in dressing the Palins came very close to her favorite "Lipstick on a Pig" description.
Conservative; Her every action as Mayor was wasteful spending and massive debt for her town.
Conservative; Palin's official policies and actions as governor were spend, spend, spend -- Go after Federal Dollars for the "Bridge to Nowhere," then replace that with an equally wasteful Bridge to Wasilla.
~~ Responsible Conservative Palin billed taxpayers for daily per diem, leaving home after 9 a.m. for the State offices in Anchorage, and returning home before 5 p.m. -- charging the state for $75 for overnight lodging and meals.
~~ Palin's "first Dude" openly interfered in state business, illegally so in a family vendetta.
Palin DOES NOT know, OR CARE,the first thing about CONSTITUTIONAL GOVERNANCE,with adherence to law.
Her blind ambition and drive for wealth is ideal for a potential Special Interests' PUPPET.

Sarah Palin is a fool.

The only bigger fool than Sarah Palin is any fool that voted the McCain/Palin ticket.

End of story.

Please don't let Sarah Palin go. There are a lot of comedians relying on her for their materials. She should stick with Hannity only. I believe a 3 minute Palin/Hannity interview takes 60 minutes to record. Who else will have that much patience.

Her journalism degree must have been mail-order. I'd be surprised if she made through HS. Regardless of her lack of intellectual prowess which are not necessarily a prerequisite to run for public office (all you need to do is look at some of the bozos we elect) but her lack of "common sense" is problematic. I agree with Barbara Bush. Sarah should stay in Alaska where she can cause a minimal amount of damage to the lower 49.

How does she come up with a sentence like that? That she then adds she has a "communications degree" simply adds to the humor. What an insufferable moron!

No doubt Palin wants to stay away from Couric, or any other reasonably educated and/or articulate human. It's probably best she stay away from anyone with a high school education.

Who can possibly keep a straight face while Palin blathers on?

Why is this clown still being billed as "Governor" Palin? It's true she was elected Governor of Alaska, but she voluntarily gave that office and title up, when the going got a little tough. She decided to become what suited her better, a personality. She does not deserve the respect the title "Governor" gives a person. As a child, I visited, and was thrilled by most of the freak shows at the annual circus, but as an adult, I simply enjoy the cotton candy, and avoid the freak shows. Our media is so childish.

Sarah will not be the Presidential nominee for the Republican Party but she will produce a lot of votes and that's a good thing. My guess is the nominee will be one of the following....Romney, Huckaby, Mitch Daniel.

Bottom line, anyone will be better than the radical in the White House now. God save our country.

Hasmat 77: Sorry to see you use the same "debating logic" as Ms. Palin. Switch the discussion to the staw man. The fact is that I have done as you have suggested: I wrote, e-mailed, etc. It seems I am not as important as you think I am. I get no response. I also have scoured the news to see if there aren't any young Bernsteins and Woodwards out there. No, they can't get the info; it is private. So Katie Couric should have asked her about specific policy moves she would advise John McCain to make regarding limiting nuclear proliferation? Or maybe how she felt about the Iraeli Palestinian conflict and what might the government to to limit conflict in the region? I'm sure she could have better answered those questions.

Was the Alaska Daily News or the Wasilla Times or USA Today or whatever the local paper's name is really that hard of an answer to come up with?

Sarah should not go on any liberal news show since she will triple their viewership and ratings for that night, and that would not be fair to the few who do watch couric. It would skew the truth - that couric is on her way out to the obamaville unemployment line.

When the going gets tough, the tough quit halfway through their 1st term and refuse to talk to reporters who might ask tough questions.

Someone with the backbone to be a real leader in this situation would be more likely to say "I screwed up the first time, but I'll be prepared the next and I'll show this reporter who knows their stuff."

This being Palin, however, she runs and hides while blaming everyone but herself. That's a true leader.

If you want to change others' opinions, you probably should temper them a bit, in order to make them more believable. Not everyone shares your view that the "leftist media," which apparently includes everyone but Fox, are engaged in some kind of brainwashing plot to make us all socialists. I can't possibly comment on all of the silliness, but I was amused by what you must have thought was a put-down of Katie Couric for getting a degree from the University of Virginia, instead of floating around for years at far lesser schools before finally getting a degree. Perhaps you aren't familiar with the University of Virginia' reputation. As for the rest of your unsubstantiated statements, I need not add to what many others in this thread have already stated.

eashley12... except that she doesn't need to feed Katie's ego. Couric's obvious hostility eliminates her as a fair presenter of information, so there is no purpose to giving her access to Palin.

There are plenty of other liberally oriented journalist-interviewers who would start out without the baggage Couric brings to the table.

Palin was more experienced than Obama was in 2008, yet she probably is just as unprepared as he was (and remains) to serve as president.

As I said several years ago, if Bush43 was so bad at governing, why would the Democrat voters choose Obama - who had NO experience. It didn't make sense then and still doesn't as he continually proves on a daily basis.

Hazmat77:

My point was not about Couric. I'm tired of Palin's crying out against the media. Even though the perception is that Couric was biased and gave an unfair interview I feel that Palin should not whine about it.

If she were to become President the potential would be there for her to face unfair interviews and her ability to succeed regardless of the interviewer is vital.

Since we appear to agree that Palin does not have the experience and ability to run for President it seems that our discussion is a non-issue.

I also think that looking back at the results of an election gives one a different view than from prior to the election. However, nothing is sure. Ms Clinton may have been a better choice... maybe not. However, I can never believe to this day that a McCain/Palin win would have benefited this Nation.

Eashly12,

I do not like Sarah Palin because she is not contributing ANYTHING constructive to the national dialog. She is an arm-chair quarterback that is constantly criticizing, but never offers a viable alternative. She constantly throws insults at *anyone* whose view is to the right of hers (which includes those of us in the middle who are not ideologically bound). And, she is unwilling to take responsibility for her own actions. The interview with Katie Curic is the perfect example. Palin botched this interview - she has only herself to blame for the outcome - and she is diverting the "blame" to Curic.

You know mature adults understand that somethings are hard and that we must grow from mistakes we make or the challenges we meet. Those challenges are to be met and we can't run away from them. Yet here it is again Sarah Palin moaning because of an unfair interview with Katy Couric held over two years ago! Avoidance is not the answer to meeting our challenges.

If Sarah Palin wishes to run for President she needs to meet all interviewers no matter how challenging. If she is going to whine and state unfairness then she needs to choose a different occupation.

Her needless rhetoric over the media needs to end. I'm still trying to figure out based on the definition of media in particular news media why she can get away with that rhetoric against the media when her employer(FOX News) fits the definition. Oh I forgot they don't count!

She can't say what magazines or newspapers she reads? She can't come up with Foreign Affairs, The Economist, the New Republic, or the Weekly Standard?

She can't name a single substantive difference she had with John McCain?
She can't explain how her state's proximity to Russia lends her foreign policy experience?

Palin once again shows her stupidity by blaming the question instead of scrutinizing her own answer. As usual, she made herself look inept all by herself. The media was doing their job by examining how she answered a simple question about what she read. And she's complaining about this on FOX news with Sean Hannity! Unreal! Once again, she's making herself look like a total idiot.

Hmmmm...Let's go into the way back machine for a second.

Governor Palin has stated more than once that Katie Couric implied, with the question about the governor's reading material, that folks up in Alaska are so out of touch, and so dumb, that they weren't able to get or care about news from the lower 48.

Any honest viewer of that particular exchange would find no basis for this claim. I also presume that Ms. Couric is probably aware that folks up in Alaska do have access to the internet, so it's a pretty solid possibility that what the governor implied, is, in fact, pure spin on the governor's part.

Oh, wait, though! I forgot! Things such as logic, fairness and accuracy are flimsy contstructs to the governor, and to most tea partiers.

(It's also kind of funny that the governor advises that people should listen to facts, and then decide what their opinion is; Facts? Opinion? What to do, what to do? Only in the world of 21st century American conservatives does that statement make any sense, because it's not the facts that matter, but what your opinion is regarding this facts. Wow, I'm glad she said that; it's all coming clear now - it's not facts that matter at all!)

And, probably one of the biggest reasons, you betcha, that as I've always known, and YOU should, too, that Tea Parties are for little girls. (You know how little girls make stuff up to make themselves look good)

If you watched Chris Wallace interview Rick Perry on Fox this past Sunday morning, you saw what it looks like when an fair journalist conducts a fair interview of a politician.

It included tough questions, didn't let Perry off the hook with sound-bites (by asking follow-ups to make it clear to the viewer when Perry was choosing to answer with a non-answer), but on the other hand was not in-your-face aggressive or frown-faced.

Katie Couric is a celebrity, not a journalist. You would know that if you watched the interview she did with Obama within a week or two of the infamous interview with Palin. In contrast to her demeanor with Palin, I will always remember Couric's batty-eyed, giggling interaction with Obama. Any unbiased viewer would have known, watching the two interviews in succession, that Couric has a 'perspective' when it comes to her politics.

A communications degree, finally, after a scattered education through five colleges and one that by all accounts, she never really used unless you count a brief stint a sportscaster anything close to a journalistic career. Clearly, what is emerging from her background is that she doesn't have the wherewithall to stick with anything long enough to do anything with -- not a single college, not the governor's office, not even one interview with Katie Couric. Posted by: Charley_XF | November 23, 2010 10:54 AM | Report abuse

This is typical of conservatives. They are used to the slavering hiney slurping treatment they get from their dittohead audiences. Limbaugh will not go on any mainstream commentary show without an assurance that he will not have any journalists there to challenge his monologue. Palin, Limbaugh, Beck--they are all accustomed to the royal hiney kissing treatment they get from their fans and want to maintain the image that they are all knowing, all seeing, brilliant analysts. Their fans willingly participate in the farce because they are dumber than the pumpkins on the pumpkin wagon.

Palin made this pith dumba## comment to one of here anal wipers--Sean Hannity. Think about it. Would you vote for anyone that this moronic twit of an idiot of a moron recommended? The two of them together do not have sufficient brain mass to assemble one complete brain. Hannity is a religious zealot who is quite convinced that we are in the latter days and that Jesus is going to descend from the Heavens any minute now and magically whisk the likes of him and Palin and Limbaugh into Rapture while of course all of us evil liberals are subjected to all of the travail and torture and misfortune that people like them dream of inflicting on us.
These people belong in a mental institution--like Shutter Island.

It is standard question that most people can answer without thinking. I'm ashaimed that the nitwits posting here are American. It is a shame to be so very stupid. But, shame on you for wallowing in your ignorance. Your pride of ignorance is what is truly repugnant.

I wonder why?

I agree with Katie. Where do they get these names for their kids? Trak? Trig? I guess Twig was already taken. And talking about "journalism" on Fox News is a joke. Given that Fox gave $1 million to the Republican Governors Association, the suggestion that Fox is "fair and balanced" is ridiculous.

What should we expect from a living, breathing "bobble-head?

The real question here is wht would Ms Couric want to interview Ms Palin!

Finally, a question such as the newspaper and magazine thing is totally relevant when interviewing someone who is a total unknown to the vast majority of American citizens.

Posted by: vagaf31 | November 23, 2010 10:17 AM | Report abuse

ntmcdowell ... as a retired teacher you should know that drawing conclusions (as our esteemed president does-often) WITHOUT having all the facts is sort of foolish, don't you think?

Palin was not the first, nor the last, American to attend several colleges before obtaining a degree. And there are many logical and rational reasons why some people find themselves switching schools.

Instead of using it as a club to beat her with, ASK her why she went to different schools. Send her a letter or find some way to communicate with her. Maybe if you learned the truth you'd not have to jump to some foolish conclusion.

Ask yourself this... Why is the media so determined to undermine Palin, when they NEVER questioned Obama's true political beliefs?

Ask why, when video evidence exists showing Obama shortly befoe he announced his candidacy, where he was emphatically stating that he believes in a single payor healthcare system; yet in 2009 he made the public statement that he doesn't believe in a single payor system?? How come no real journalists picked up on this deception? Ah hah, the state of professional journalism!

What more should we expect from Fox News...but an interview with a living, breathing "bobble-head".

I would be interested in hearing Ms Palin respond now to Couric's question on newspapers and magazines read.

However, the real question this article fails to address is whether Ms Couric would be in the slightest bit interested in interviewing the "bobble-head"?

Ms Palin continues to attempt to sound like an intellectual, when there seems to be "no lights on" in her skull.

Aquarius1 | Admdittedly Palin is NOT the run of the mill GLIB politician. But if you took off the blinders, and witnessed Obama's off-the-cuff responses to questions you'd see that he isn't the great communicator the leftist media wants us to believe.

Have you ever heard some of the STUPID comments Joe Biden made to questions?

Facility with the language under the pressure of a live audience or TV cameras is NOT an indication of intelligence. Throughout history some of the world's smartest people were/are unable to speak clearly in public. It isn't as easy as some expect.

When Ms. Palin states she has a degree in journalism, I wonder WHY she had to go to so many colleges to get it? The WHY of journalism intrigues me since that gives me some introspection into a person's mode of operation. If she refuses to do her homework and gets testy with the teacher and then leaves for more ameliorating surroundings, then I wonder, does this person cut and run in order to keep from the realities of one's own limitations?
It seems that Ms. Palin has established a record of self-delusions and self-congratulations. Someone who has to repeatedly tell her audience of her credentials seems to be afraid of proving those credentials through action.
As a retired teacher, I have had many students and colleague who used defensive mechanism like those of Ms. Palin. In fact, this last election may have epitomized our new American moniker, "American, I am Beautiful, no humility I sing."

Channah | .. if you had any intellect you'd have understood that Katie CLEARLY was seeking to trap Palin by asking irrelevant questions.

Ask yourself, did Couric EVER ask any other sitting Governor, Senator or Congressman questions such as What newspapers do you read? Did she ask Obama that question? I don't think so.

That question could have had only one purpose - to create an answer that can lead to future denigration by the Liberal press.

In spite of your insane conclusion, Palin apparently had enough intelligence to get a Degree in Journalism. Katie Couric received a degree in English (or American Studies - depending on source) from the University of Virginia.

Palin apparently was smart enough to win election as a Mayor and then as Governor.
It was NOT Palin's fault that McCain turned out to be a terrible candidate and made it easy for the "historic" presidency to emerge.

The simple reason Palin won't interview with journalists that ask her questions is that she is so ignorant she can only respond to a subject on her FaceBook after hours of retyping it and using spell check. Basically, if she can't write it on her hand, don't expect her to comment on it in public. The women is the most uneducated "mouth" to hit politics. I am just amazed at how many educated people actually listen to her garbage. Think people!!! Do you really want to consider a presidential candidate that only responds on her Blog????? "I will speak to reporters who still understand that cornerstone of our democracy, that expectation that the public has for truth to be reported"

Palin realizes that Katie Couric, who is at the top of the knowledgeable, respected news reporters, made her look like an absolute idiot. Katie Couric DID tell the truth about Palin, made Palin show the truth about herself-----that's why Palin doesn't like Katie Couric.

Apparently Palin thinks she can get away with cherry-picking the way she will be interviewed and reported on by the media. Good luck to her with that one.

Palin isn't 'powerful' enough, nor 'great' enough to control the entire world's media reporting methods. She's a nutcase who is about to embarass herself even more than she did when she was the short-lived VP candidate in 2008, by running for President in 2012.

Palin is not going to 'golly gee', 'you betcha' herself into being President. She's about to enter the real world, and she ain't gonna like it. I'm getting the popcorn ready for the big Palin show, cause it's gonna be the best public blowout we've ever seen. Her use of the 'B' word will seem lame in comparison.

Is it because she represent what America should be doing? in balanceing the Budget and down sizing Government? that has only one real job, and that is to take away what we earn and give it to more goverment employee's and lots of entitlements for the lazy who don't want to work? Is it because boarder security would beome real with her leadership? I don't know the answer to why
so many persons are trying to cut here down, but she can tell it like it is and she does have a strong following and she could beat Obama hands down any day and the Republican are afraid of her also. Why?
Because the RINO,s (repub in name only) have taken over the Republican Party and you can't hardly tell the differance in the free for all with no money to backup there plan. Dem and Rep are the same / Just belong to two differant UNIONS!!

Every time she speaks she mangles her sentence structure. There is a learning disorder that is manifested by the inability to put parts of speech in their proper place. This trait by itself would not be a barrier to the Presidency; but coupled with her passive/aggressive communication traits(she loves to engage in smear tactics but is thin-skinned when criticized), obvious delusions of grandeur, and her rude and dismissive personality, she becomes unfit for office(any office).

Posted by: navyvet | November 23, 2010 12:46 AM | Report abuse

Oh....right. The "gotcha media" angle. Look, dumbass (read: Sarah Palin), you ran for the second most powerful position in the world. Despite their ubiquitous shortcomings, the job of the press is to get the facts and truth out so that people can make informed decisions about the issues - in this case, to vote for who would be serve their interests.

Katie Couric is no titan of news. Only a few years ago, she was on the Today show - that bastion of hard-hitting journalism. That said, she did an adequate job of asking questions about you and your positions on things.

Hell, you should bear in mind that nobody outside of Alaska knew who the f--- you were... apparently, not even John McCain much... and you were nominated several weeks prior to the election, and with a man as OLD as McCain knocking on death's door already, we should at least know who his successor would be in the near term.

How ignorant do you have to be to blame the media for people not liking how ignorant you are? All Katie Couric really did was ask who you were and what you were all about. If you can't answer simple questions like that, you shouldn't go to a job interview, let alone be president or anything close.

And just so we don't get things all twisted up - Katie Couric asked what newspapers you read, and you couldn't even answer that softball question. Is there bias inherent to that question? Absolutely. In this country, at least until this decade, we are biased against people who are openly stupid, at least as far as political/gov't leaders are concerned.

Nobody really had to ask Obama what he read. He graduated from Columbia, got a JD from Harvard, was a professor of Constitutional law, and followed international studies. You, on the other hand, claimed foreign policy credentials based on the idea that you could "see Russia from (your) house", was the mayor of the meth capital of Alaska, claimed to be part of the "real America" as a small-towner, and eventually quit your job as governor of a small population state in Alaska - again, nobody had heard of you prior to McCain picking you for political purposes (we should blame him for knowing who you are, period).

It is unintellectual stooges like you who embody the loss of America's stature (although still great, but not as great), in the world. Look at all the crazy things you've said and done since that resounding defeat in '08. If Katie Couric helped steer us clear of the disaster of having an idiot like you in power, then America owes her a debt... if not just for asking a hard question, but asking any questions at all.

Let's face it, if you can't answer simple personal questions like that, you can't answer tough ones with national and international implications.

I realize that Obama hasn't done everything right by progressives and hasn't punished Wall St, either. I just hope that this country isn't so stupid that they would for another r-tard they'd like to have a beer with out of anger or fear.

why anyone would look at palin through the spectacles of a question of "what books do you read?" is in itself oversimplistic.

imo the question did not reqire a difinitive answer because the answer can never reveal her opinions on issues since one's views of varied reading material is not confined to only writers they agree with.

that so many democrats took the bait and made this a bigger story than the significance of it was another kool-aid moment. Sarah Palin is a woman of substance and she proves it daily so i think it's fair to attack her on issues but to claim she is less than is quite lame.

as Palin rides the waves Couric is treading water as she ponders a move back to the Today Show due to the lowest ratings CBS has ever seen in it's history for that time slot. Palin gave her an answer and Couric should have respected that and move on, instead she tried to make a tough-reporter call for herself and lost bigtime in the end.

The argument over Palin and Couric reminds me of O'(bullshi*)Reilly when he states, " We sent a request for so-and so-to appear but to no avail " And the real joke is that O'Reilly thinks these people are afraid of him . Or as Beck and his " Red Phone " waiting for the White House to call " Their arrogance almost equals that of the Jug-Earred boob who squats in AFl . What the Hell makes these people think that others are obligated to appear on their shows. I know that Obama has no par when it comes to arrogance , but the biggest " pinhead " of all, O'Reilly , runs him a close second. As to MSNBC and Matthews or Ommermann, well this outlet isn't worth mentioning. As to Couric, I know little because from the little I've seen of her, I can understand why she's so overrated in the first place.
If Palin want's a little unsolicited advice I would caution her to disappear for a while." Familiarity Breeds Contempt " And she along with Ol' Hucklebuck are seen much too much . And Palin's voice on an outside bullhorn is like having a nail driven through one's brain . As is most woman's voices. Just imagine if America was foolish enough to elect a woman to the Presidency . All those " fireside chats " and all that aspirin consumed would drive half of America to stomach surgery with all the bleeding . With the mess Obama's Socialized Med plan has made, that ain't such a good idea either. We'd probably have to foot the bill all by ourselves. Having said that , I'd like to ask the powers that be to give us an election where we can vote for someone, and not against. Get rid of the " Good Ol' Boys " and bring in some new and fresh talent ,those from the " summer of our discontent " I'm sick of the old baseball glove , Mitt Romney , and Hucklebuck, and Clinton, and Kuscenich or Giuliani, Kerry and the rest. I know the Republicrats have scared the populace from voting for someone like Ralph Nader because they have convinced them that they are wasting their votes . Well, if we didn't waste our votes this past election, and the two before, I'd like to know just what the Hell we did do with them ?

Palin's the queen of doublespeak. For that she has two rabid followings; Democrat haters, and imbeciles.

My suggestion is that Obama take her out of the equation by appointting her Secretary of Hair, Teeth, & Ass.

Glenn Beck asks "Who's your favorite founding father"? Palin answers "Oh, all of them". She can't even do a powder puff interview with Beck. She's insulting America by even pretending to be a serious person, much less a serious candidate. No wonder the GOP is trying to cut her off at the knees. If they nominated her for president it would be the greatest embarassment any political party ever suffered in this country. And the Tea Party will eventually realize that she hurts them in the long run and they'll get behind Ron Paul, who's at least a serious person. Just stay on the Fox payroll and make your money Mrs.Palin. Because your power is already draining away. The people who worship you are a minority that gets smaller everyday.

Gov(r) Palin as a potential GOP presidential candidate needs to consider to get into fast and crash courses in general knowledge , common sense , and behavioral sciences as core subjects and supplemental course in e. g., etiquette and mannerism etc . The best institution and tutors for her must training event would be the fair and balanced Fox channel and the conservative commentators and anchors of the fair and balanced reporting team at the Fox News . They would make sure that after two years training she would not have a repeat of 2008 performance with CBS's Katie Couric . The folks at Fox would help her to face and be able to have bold interviews and Q&A sessions with CNN 's Wolf Blitzer and Anderson Cooper , ABC's GMA , and NBC 's Today show folks .

Fox News does not count, since that is merely a propaganda arm of the Republican Party. However, the rest of the free media should know better. In fact, you should be downright ashamed of yourselves! Every day - morning, noon and night - I see this celebrity-crazed grandmother paraded on every news outlet in the country. If this ding-bat gets elected President, then we hold you responsible. From waaay over here on the other side of the big pond, that's the Pacific pond not the Atlantic puddle, I was beginning to miss G.W.'s stupidly funny comments. Thank goodness for Palin, who, by dint of American dumb celebrity, proves continuously that America is still a land of opportunity, a place where anyone with half a brain can scam their way into fortune and fame. I notice our Rupert Murdoch is now running the show over there, and he's a low-grader.

I reckon with a little influence peddling I could end up with "Hound News" if I had a try. It'd be the most patriotic American (Australian-owned) service you would find outside of Israel. We'd feature guest speakers from the dumbest communities in America, and our newsreaders would speak with such backwood's accents that everyone would immediately declare their folksiness and their pentultimate unswervable patriotism. Our frontmen would be only hardcore hypocrits of the first order; closet homosexuals who hated other homosexuals, anti-racist racists and really rich radio jocks who complain about how poor Americans are doing it tough. It'd be "open slather"(Amer: "a duck shoot").

(In deference to G.W. - I always thought if I had the chance to educate him properly he would've been a nice guy... Drat! Even from waaaay over here, that folksiness stuff works!)

There are many exceptional Americans and Sarah Palin is not one of them.

Posted by: vigor | November 22, 2010 8:34 PM | Report abuse

Palin is a narcissist. She treats her slogans as tantamount to factual statements. That means she feels no obligation to challenge them and n fact refuses to do so.

Her dismissal of Couric is accompanied by demeaning statements which are designed to negate the significance of Couric's exposure of Palin as a liar and as a fantasizer.

It was Palin's empty mind that told us she understands foreign policy because she can see Russia from her front porch while sipping beer and shooting bears. It was her unconscionable willingness to lie by pretending that she read all the papers. We get all of 'em' (or something similar).

What does it say about someone who lies without any sense of discomfort and who does not feel a sense of shame or remorse when her lies are exposed. There is no reality or honesty. She lives in a world of fictions.

If Palin becaomes President what will she offer the United States and the world? I think that it will be approval of her ideas (remember, she may have ideas but she doesn't have ideals), of people and of countries that prop up herself and disapproval of those that counter her slogans, beliefs and positions. This woman is not thoughtful, profound, well-read or convincing.

In comparison, Dubya will look like a great thinker.

Palin can tell us she is a patriot. She can let Rupert Murdoch (self-interest forever) be kingmaker but her mind is chaotic and the outcomes that it will produce will be dangerous. Like it or not Palin would be an empty-headed fool sitting on the throne while doing foolish things. Those outcomes cannot add up to good government.

Given the size of America, I expect that she will find a handful of strident supporters.

When WWIII comes along do not be surprised if America lights the fuse while contending that it is someoneelse's fault. You can view everything that America does through rose-tinted glasses but if a President of Dubya's or Palin's ilk holds office at the wrong time then, like it or not, they will push that red button that say B-o-o-m!

John McCain should be tried and sentenced for unleashing this person on the American public. To think that I once could have voted for McCain makes me sick. He has sold his soul and will go down in history not as a war hero but someone who will do anything to win an election. He unleashed this practicing lunatic who has enriched herself, continues to lie and has recruited screwballs, nutcases and wackos to run for office.

As a registered republican, I no longer recognize my party. I wonder when a respectable and honorable republican will stand up to her and drive her out of the party. Until then, I will vote Democratic or Independent. I need sanity to return to my party.

And then we get to decide our own opinion based on the facts reported to us."

----

And this example of her incoherence is exactly what scares the living cr*p out of people who think she is out of her mind, and therefore, a lethal weapon in the land of politics. How can she possibly have a degree in journalism? She makes NO sense! In fact, everything coming out of her mouth is like marbles scattered about. Also: Can the Washington Post PLEASE stop covering her as if she mattered?

She has no news value whatsoever, and you are being exploited in keeping her name in the public mind.

The vast majority of your readers find her vacuous and annoying.

Please. Can you try to go one whole full day without giving this quitter any further publicity on a "free-of-charge" basis?

COOLCHILLY says: Obama won't give an interview to Fox News so I don't see what's wrong with Sarah Palin not giving an interview with the Twit Perky Katy Couric.

Check your facts coolchilly - President Obama sat down with Fox's Brett whoever a few months ago to answer questions. Of course, thsi being Fox, he was constantly interuppted and not even given an ounce of the respect ANY President deserves.

Frankly, I wish we'd stop giving this woman ANY publicity at all....the fact that someone with her lack of experience and education could even come close to the White House is enough to make me leave the country.

Asking questions and then airing the answers is not "spin." What Palin is doing now? That is spin!

Couric didn't do, spin, or gin anything to stir up controversy -- the controversy was caused by Palin herself. And even a year after the election, when she had a chance to fix things, she told Barbara Walters -- yes! I still believe that being governor of Alaska counts as foreign policy experience.

And Couric is a cream puff, lobbing softballs. If you can't even admit that you flubbed one, you aren't ready for real interviews. Of course, Palin probably won't submit to any real interviews -- not from Couric and not from anyone who will actually ask questions, which is not Fox News.

Posted by: fmjk | November 22, 2010 6:55 PM | Report abuse

Why have another interview when one cannot possibly top the last one where "I can see Russia" came out as an answer to political question measuring her grasp on International Affairs. And oh, The question about what magazines you read? Tha is not a political left wing gotcha question. It is a real question real people ask to see where your head is. Apparently you don have a clue. Please make her go aaaawaaayyy.

Really biased and tough Questions like "What do your read?" and "Can you give us some examples of magazines you read?" certainly are hideous unwelcome questions.

Let us also remember that when Beck asked her who her "favorite" founding father was, she stumbled. Couldn't even think to blurt out "Jesus!"

The question is worth a bet. Who will be the first journalist besides one of the Palin shills at FOX who she will grant an interview? And if she won't do that now, how likely is it that she would do so in the heat of a campaign?

Posted by: roboturkey | November 22, 2010 5:40 PM | Report abuse

"I want to help clean up the state that is so sorry today of journalism"

The syntax of that statement says more than a thousand interviews or articles about Sarah Palin, in spite of her forays into 'journalism' and 'communications'.

Palin's 'clean-up' is just doing away with journalists who don't agree with her. In other words, criticism is bias and it's out of the question. Apparently, only Palin knows the 'truth'. The rest needs to be 'cleaned' up.

Funny, I thought a democracy meant where people could have differing opinions...

Palin's narcissism seems to be escalating at an exponential rate, the kind of narcissism that betrays deep insecurities, and attracts people with the same deep insecurities, regardless of political ideology.

Her interviews will be forthcoming only where her comfort zone dictates.
