Republicans hedge on Palin bid (video)

By Rachel Weiner

In a Politico op-ed on Tuesday, former lawmaker and current MSNBC host Joe Scarborough called on his fellow Republicans to "man up" and come out against a Sarah Palin presidential bid.

"If Republicans want to embrace Palin as a cultural icon whose anti-intellectualism fulfills a base political need, then have at it. I suppose it's cheaper than therapy," Scarborough wrote. "But if the party of Ronald Reagan, Paul Ryan and Marco Rubio wants to return to the White House anytime soon, it's time that Republican leaders started standing up and speaking the truth to Palin."

So far, Scarborough is mostly alone. While Politico has predicted that Republicans would unite against Palin after the 2010 elections (an article the former governor herself mocked for being filled with anonymous quotes), most GOPers seem to be hedging their bets. Watch:

Let me see, Sarah Palin comes in second in the polls today and Haley Barbour comes in LAST. He would get 1% of the vote. Why do the commie idiots on MESSNBC ask losers like Haley Barbour if Sarah is "qualified?" Pfft! Unbelievable.

If the Communist/Marxist IDIOT in the White House is qualified to be POTUS, then so is Sarah Palin. She has way more common sense than the doofus who voted "present" 134 times as a do-nothing Senator from Chicago. At least she loves this country and wants to see it prosper. Obozo sat in a Marxist Church for 20 years and heard our country vilified and lied about by his radical "Uncle Jeramiah Wright." One and done in 2012!

If Sarah wants to run, she has a perfect right and any Republicans who try to gang up and use slash and burn tactics will be sitting on the sidelines in 2012. RINO Joe is irrelevant, a stone LOSER and he should be ignored. No one with a brain watches that snake-pit-of-a-Network any more.

Sarah Palin: Our national nitwit
John McCain: Her enabler
Ronald Reagan: A former president, something McCain or Palin will never be

Posted by: freedomgirl1 | December 1, 2010 11:59 AM | Report abuse

What if John McCain were a former president of the Harvard Law Review?
What if Obama finished fifth from the bottom of his graduating class?
What if McCain were still married to the first woman he said ‘I do’ to?
What if Obama were the candidate who left his first wife after she no longer measured up to his standards?
What if Michelle Obama were a wife who not only became addicted to pain killers, but acquired them illegally through her charitable organization?
What if Cindy McCain graduated from Harvard?
What if Obama were a member of the Keating-5?(123,000 seniors and others were swindled out of their life savings)
What if McCain were a charismatic, eloquent speaker?
What if Barack Obama had an unwed, pregnant teenage daughter?
This is what Racism does. It covers up, rationalizes and minimizes positive qualities in one candidate and emphasizes negative qualities in another, when there is a color difference. In 2008 some people did not vote for a man simply because he is black.
Blind Morality lets us “Christian People” turn a blind eye to the morality, or lack there of - of a confirmed hot-head, adulturer, erratic liar, distorter of the truth and a thief. John McCain suffered greatly as a POW and characterizes himself as a hero. Read up on what John McCain actually did as a POW. A “real hero” don’t toot their own horn. Why is he hated by just about everyone who is involved in the POW/MIA organization? Its a surreal comedy that ”good Christian” Americans voted for John McCain and touted him as their “moral choice” for the leadership of the free world.
With America facing historic debt, 2 wars, 4000+ dead, countless thousands with permanent physical and mental scars, stumbling health care, a weakened dollar, all-time high prison population, mortgage crises, bank foreclosures, the middle class in crisis, lets not even mention the poor, etc. Just imagine, if the middle class can not afford gas and food; WHAT ABOUT THE POOR?

Granted, Sarah has a lot of appeal to the public, she is fascinating to watch. But as president? Sarah has her mind on herself and staying in the media spotlight. She purposefully says things that make her following feel good. But she has no kowledge of world diplomacy, she cannot look at issues objectively, and she has a questionable moral character. Would you like her answering the red phone at 2:00 a.m.? I vote for Matt Romney. I have been studying him and his history and I believe he is our best bet. He is a statesmen, not a splash on the media.

All I have to say is that Sarah may be charismatic and say things that make people feel good, but she has no foundation in world diplomacy, little ability to view issues objectively, and has a questionable moral character. Her main goal seems to be in the public eye, on herself, not what is good for the country. I think she is fascinating to watch, but to be president in the modern world? Would you want her on the red phone when it rings at 2:00 a.m.? I opt for Matt Romney. So far my study shows him to be a man of good qualifications, our best bet.

Learning over 15 years of US & Canadaian politics - Sarah Palin frightens many people. Why? She says it like it is & on the mens turf. She's as good as they are none of this is acceptable. Hilary, with all her knowledge, wasn't accepted either..Listening to women's talk shows and interviewers, they don't like her. Why? She's amazing and more then they are! Women are sometimes very nasty and media/political driven they're really nasty. IMHO she'd make such a change in and for the White House. The only change would be to gradually tone down and learn of the world governments, necessary for the USA to survive. We Northern women would vote for Palin!

Most of you bloggers think that Sarah Palin will be the laughing stock of the world, if she runs for the oval office. I think she will be elected if she runs, because she's a true American patriot! Furthermore, the world hasn't stopped laughing yet, when the Americans elected the present oval office occupant!

I like Sarah. No one else has been scorned more by the news media than her. Well, maybe the last president,George Bush. And then there was Nixon who the news media annihilated. Most people do not know what Water Gate was or what the plumbers were trying to steal, or who fixed it so they would be caught. The news media is so vindictive that the only way to comply is by establishing your own media. Sarah has and will win over the negative reporting and comments on most all other news media by being positive, and thank you for asking. Treat her like a lady. Comedy Central is not main stream. I thought JFK got a free ride and Ronald Regan knew best how to handle obstinate reporting and reporters. Sarah will win in 2012 because our corrupt government will be exposed and so will the source of the news media. It is about time.

Furthermore, I find it absolutely INCREDIBLE that the Palins' involvement in the radical, anarchist Alaskan Independence Party (AIP), whose founder HATED the United States, is ignored and played down. When she was only a newbie "flash in the pan" running mate of John McCain, and hadn't been vetted thoroughly, that was ONE thing! But now, there are rumblings that this loose cannon is actually thinking about running for the Presidency of our COUNTRY! Sure, she's not a member, and supposedly, her "Dude", who runs her life, isn't either. I'm sure that whatever we read about their "non-membership" we are supposed to eat up as fact! However, Sarah is even videotaped addressing one of their meetings, as recently as 2008. Let's hope a little better vetting has been or will be done on this opportunistic couple!

Sarah Palin is even MORE unqualified for President than George W. Bush, and she doesn't have the money to BUY herself the seat. However, now we have Mr. Anonymous Corporation, the new "person", just borne of Bush's Honorable Supreme Court! Mr. Corporation BOUGHT a LOT of minds (ENOUGH TO BUY THE SEATS) and votes with their lying trash and propaganda and $4 BILLIONS of dollars of defamatory slander against our QUALIFIED Congressional candidates in our last election! Never underestimate the power of crooked money! A brainlessly charming, unprincipled idiot, whose primary fuel is money and material goods, could easily become the Puppet Figurehead of that new dictatorial invention! To hell with counting votes! We could have our "Honorable" Bush Supreme Court do the counting, and we ALL remember how THEY count. Course, we DO have a couple NEW Justices, who MIGHT have consciences!

Sarah is an unemployed user who has to earn a living for her family and legal debts. She saw how easy it was to get money from people and never stopped. Each time the public stops talking about her she announces she is running for President. Her personal fixation on Obama is scary. Sarah is using both Tea Party and Republican Party for personal gain. Now while Americans are busy talking Sarah the real enemy is working to have a Coup De tat as now the 5 paid Supreme Court Justices are in place. After successfully violating the constitution with allowing Corporations to have the same rights as citizens. Next the High Court will bring back a law prior to 1776, when only Wealthy property owners picked a law maker. The test was first seeing the High Court appoint a President taking away the people's right. Citizens United won an illegaly Law with the support of the 5 paid political Justices. After the Wikileaks releases the Banks who have commited fraud, International investor will draw out their money and invest with a country they can trust. Sarah is just window dressing for the Law Makers to look at as a bimbo.

I find it amazing that Scarb the scab thinks Palin is slow witted. I watch his show from time to time just to laugh at him and minky. I've never seen a more dull witted pair. His co host actually sited Lincoln as one of the founding fathers and Scarb has the nerve to dump on SP. She had more experience as an executive than the Clown who is in the white house right now. The people who hate her do so because she is real and she made something of herself. She climbed up without any one else's help. Its something that most every one else can't say. This poor guy has long been infected with a liberal slant since he found his way onto msnbc. Its the type of infection that makes stupid people think they are actually above the fray. He wants to be loved by the people who surround him. Unfortunately those people are all idiots. I'll take Palin over 10 scabs any day.

We can only hope the powers to be in the GOP know how most Americans feel about Sarah Palin. A great crowd pleaser in small areas but she can't carry the torch to the finish line.

They already think the whole country is full of clowns; especially, after G. Dubya and his War Cronies destroyed the economy and broke the U.S., Treasury chasing down "fake" WMD's over in Iraq.

What could be worse than a bunch of clowns?

Never mind, you already answered my question above.

As much as I despise Joe Scarborough, he does seem to have a lot more principles than many in the GOP, or did Sarah just make ol' Joe mad when she had the audacity to compare herself to Reagan, while also taking pot shots at the Blue Blood's all in the same week.

Now that I think about it, it's probably the latter.

The Jerry Springer Show comment seemed apt. She's a dysfunctional nitwit on the national stage. Actually, she is one of those "celebrities" that seem to have no real job, but party on into the night, all self absorbed, thinking she's something important. She's really just cheap entertainment.

Posted by: nihao1 | November 30, 2010 7:30 PM | Report abuse

Finally the nation is begining to see what we Alaskans have already experienced. Her rise to celebrity is based upon back-stabbing those who pulled her up the rungs of the ladder. Hickel, Stevens, McCain, who's next?

Words to her are nothing more than tools to get money or votes. There is no substance behind the barking. Her policy as 1/2guv was to tax the oil industry into the red, and disperse the short-term windfall to the residents. If this isn't Marxism in its purest form, then I'm not sure what Marxism is.

There are even more horror stories of her abbreviated regime, spanning from her first day to her last....

If the Republicans 'best' chance to regain the White House is Sarah Palin, I think they can forget about changing their headquarters address in 2012.

All it will take is ONE Presidential debate, Sarah Palin will be through---and the Repubs will look like fools til the end of the world. She couldn't get through 5 minutes of debate without using her fall-back 'cutesy' routine, calling the opponent names, reading the notes on her hands, getting her foul-mouthed daughters up on the stage with her to 'fight' for her and 'with' her. She'd turn a serious debate into the Jerry Springer show in five minutes or less.

Actually there is a simple solution for the Republican dilemma over Palin. I should not suggest this because Palin devisiveness is only good for us libs. But here's the solution. Offer Palin and her family the staring role in a Hollywood feature film. I figure for 100 Million Palin would not turn it down. Title it something like "The Party Story: How America Regained It's Exceptionalism" (or some other blather). It would both keep Palin out of the Presidential race and be good propaganda for the base. It's pretty clear Sarah wants the money and no doubt she is a bit jealous of Bristol and DWTS. Make her a movie queen (at least in her own vain eyes).

It is a difficult dance, the GOP has, with Sarah Palin. Clearly, they don't want to alienate the goobers, because that is half the party, but just as clearly, I think they know that Sarah would kill the future of the GOP for decades, if elected.
I suspect they also know that her election is unlikely at best, which is reflected in polling, such as it is.
