President Obama: Home alone, while family vacations
President Obama will be home alone starting Saturday.
White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said Friday that Michelle Obama and the couple's daughters, Malia and Sasha, will likely head to Hawaii Saturday for the family's annual vacation there. First dog Bo is also leaving.
But the president, who was also supposed to depart on Saturday, will stay in Washington holding meetings and calling lawmakers until Congress leaves for the holidays.
Congress has not said when it will finish its work yet, leaving Obama in vacation limbo for now.

What is worse, Dubya taking more than twice as many vacation days as Reagan, or the fact that if he was actually doing something we would be worse than we are now? Scary when you think about it.

If Obama was flying home for a vacation or going to Camp David that would be one thing. You have to be sheltered not to have noticed how all his vacations are over the top and he takes no less than 50 friends and family with him all on our dime. Only first class L U X U R Y is good enough for them.

Bush was Mr Vacation, and well see where that got us -- 2 fairly pointless wars, a greatly increased budget deficit, and the total collapse of the US financial systems and economy? Good job!

He doesn't stop being President while he's on 'vacation'. He has an 'on-call' 24/7/365 job for at least 4 years. He doesn't really get away from his job. It follows him everywhere. He won't have another real 'vacation' for the rest of his life.
Would you give up your family time, your personal life, have to listen to a bunch of pathetic whiners dissecting your entire life day after day, for what the President earns?
If the President wants to have a few days with a lighter schedule and call it a 'vacation' then let him have it. How often are you 'on-call' 24/7/365? Don't you think you'd want a few days off more often, if you had the President's responsibility? All of us look forward to our days off work, why shouldn't the President?
Leave him and his family alone.

It is great to have a President who is tending to the nations business unlike his predecessor who spent more time on vacation than working albeit as Cheneys puppet. Dubya the dunce also promised to give up golf as a sign of respect for our nations troops valiantly fighting in the two wars he started for lies of WMD and played golf a mere two weeks after making his promise. Dubya worst President ever period. Obama will go down as one of the great ones for cleaning up the giant mess left by the criminals in the Bush administration.

Some of us don't get time off these holidays (or on anyone's holidays, even when I say "I on 'Oliday!" I am actually working on something or other), he just joined the club for a few days. lol.

Mr. President, it will be over soon for this session of Congress. And you did very well from the standpoint of the executive branch. Every time I hear Democrats in Congress who disagree with you, I have to take umbrage with them. They could have, should have done better with their majority before the election, and they did not.
It was incumbent upon you to take the higher road, and you did. Not only did you restore tax cuts for those who need it in these trying times, you extended unemployment insurance. And you made great strides, albeit unnoticed, in changing the structure of health insurance legislation.
I voted for you; I stood in the cold while you were inaugurated, and I watched the right wing try to destroy your policies from day one. That was a tactic employed when Pres. Bill Clinton became President. Very similar.
But this time maybe, just maybe, the electorate will remember what you had inherited from the previous administration. It wasn't easy by any means, but you did the very best you could, making the situation better than anyone could have imagined, even the Republicans who set you up for failure.

Until there is acceptance of the fact that Bush was the worst excuse of a president this country has ever experienced, criticism of Obama is non-sense. Those who like(d) Bush should never be listened to.

That is nice of him. It would not look good if the President was at home and the Congress left toiling in Washington.

Mr. President,
Have joyous holiday season. We are many Americans that support you and will continue to do so. Remember, if it was easy, everyone would be doing it
~ ; )
Looking forward to your leadership in the new year. Amen
And the rest of you, have a joyous holiday season as well.

Give the President a break. He and his staff have been working extremely hard the past 3 weeks on the tax bill. He deserves a break - quit whinning, put your tail between your legs and move on to greener pastures. Some of you who complain on every issue "would complain if you were being hung with a new rope".

You have to go thru all kinds of hoops to take dog from mainland to Hawaii and the dog has to be quaranteen. Must be nice to be a president - you can do whatever you want regardless of rules.

Stop whining about the trips already. The Bushes (both Presidents) went on many vacations separately, as did the Clintons and Reagans. This is nothing new.

WOW another vacation! But to keep criticism down Michele is going to fly in a military jumbo. Then obaama will take Air Force 1 later. Some savings they cost the same to fly ! Do they really think the American public is so stupid not to realize they are totally wasting as much of our tax dollars as possible?

Now they are taking two hugh airplanes at taxpayers expense. The family can't wait for daddy to finish business. Does Michelle ever think of our money being spent so foolishly? The public is hurting but she does not care......it takes lots of fuel to fly those planes to Hawaii. Michelle, do the right thing for your country once in your lifetime....wait for your husband and save taxpayers money. But you don't give a darn, do you? Well, I certainly am not proud of you!!

Members of Congress can stay here for the Holidays and their "significant others" can come here and celebrate. Keep it simple! That way, those who lost will have to go home only once when the new kids show up in January! Also, the President deserves to go to Hawaii . He needs some warm weather and he needs to get far away from the kids in Congress and rest up for the new kids who are licking their chops!

How dare anyone suggest the President work through the Christmas holidays? Tell Sen Reid to shut down for Christmas because Obama's family is on vacation.

Now this is gripping news! We have a real barn-burner going on.
Oh wait, presidents leave vacation early and separately from their families all the time. At least the ones like Obama who work for America, rather than the ones like Bush who live on their ranches while ignoring important intelligence memos.
