House to take up Patriot Act extension next week

The House is poised to vote next week on legislation renewing key provisions of the Patriot Act that are set to expire this month.

Why C-SPAN can never get cameras on the House floor

In November, seizing on Republicans' calls for more transparency in the health-care debate, C-SPAN asked incoming Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) if they could bring cameras onto the House floor. The response has just come back: Sorry, but no. Will C-SPAN ever get the access they crave? Probably not. Fighting over camera angles goes back to 1984, only a few years after television came to the House.
