Eric Cantor: President Obama was born in the United States

House majority leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) insisted that he believes President Obama was born in the United States, but refused to call birthers' disproved claims "crazy talk."

Cantor appeared on NBC's "Meet the Press" Sunday and was asked, in the context of promoting a more civil tone in political debate, to dismiss birthers' claims that the president was not born in the United States.

"Most Americans really are beyond that," said Cantor, insisting that the issue was generated by "the media and others in the country."

"I don't think it's nice to call anyone crazy," Cantor continued when pressed by host David Gregory as to whether he would use the phrase to describe such claims. "I don't think it's an issue that we need to address at all. It is not an issue that even needs to be on the policy-making table right now whatsoever."

"I think the president is a citizen of the United States," Cantor said, going on to say, "I think this president wants what's best for this country."

It took two years for this 'einstein' to accept that as a fact? Two years? After the election and certifications and intense scrutiny? What is it with Republicans. One of their own 'einstein' judges on the Supreme Court also has trouble with "understanding .. the filing instructions". Very simple. Follow the rules. Born in the USA to an American citizen.

There are some people that never accepted the fact we have a Black President and had a woman Speaker of the House. Many people feel that these two positions in government are only for WASP conservative men. There are people that just have never accepted Obama and Pelosi and will take every political cheap shot to discredit them. This whole “birther” thing is a political cheap shot that makes us look like a bunch of fools to the rest of the world. Twenty years ago the USSR fell apart. If we do not start addressing the real issues, we are going to fall apart as well!

I'm no fan of the guy. I also don't understand why he doesn't open up his records (birth, school, whatever else) because it gives ammunition to those who say he is hiding something. And everyday that they are kept sealed makes me think the same thing as well. Where is the transparency? I would think he would welcome the opportunity to let the American people know who he is.

Cantor merely said that Obama was a CITIZEN. That does NOT necessarily mean that he believes that he was a natural born citizen, and so far we have absolutely NO proof of that.

I'm glad Rep. Cantor clarified that, now I can rest easy. Seriously, if one objectively watched/watches "Meet The Press" from this past Sunday (1/23), Rep. Cantor dodged a lot of direct questions about specifics, and with a smile on his face. I wouldn't trust anything he says, transparency is definitely lacking. Like others in his party, they're quick to criticize, slow to show leadership. Their last time in charge was a failure: they doubled the national debt and then some (their war costs are off-budget) and their obstructionism from the past year has and will hurt this country dearly. They nixed legislatively setting up the deficit commission, leaving the President to do so, then criticized and later ignored (as is permissible since it wasn't legislated) the recommendations rather than coming up with their own. More recently, they took tax cuts off the table in the pay-as-you-go rules, allowing them to further exacerbate the national debt. Fine bunch they are.

It's not surprising that enough conspiracy theorists exist to post on the WaPo board. What is surprising is that a noticeable percentage of the US population continues to believe these stories, despite that a simple Google search disproves all the weird allegations made on this board and in other spots.

Why is this such an issue for so many people, I wonder? I am not concerned about the particular issue, of course, but wonder this whole phenomenon. What triggers this form of mass hysteria, I wonder? What makes us cling to these kind of easily debunked theories long after they are disproven? Is it the feeling that someone is special because they belong to a "persecuted" group? Is it related to the various gnostic movements for various tops that pop up now and again?

I would think not, as these other issues tend to attract only a tiny percentage of any given population - but this one persists (perhaps because so many of us enjoy endlessly wondering about its very persistence)...

I was born in the US and have lived here for many years. My wife is not a US citizen and my children were born in a foreign country. (Note: I was not in the military or foreign service at the time.) But, I have certificates for all of them from the US government stating that they are a 'citizen of the United States from birth'.

Obama's mother and father had a similar situation - even if he was born on the moon, he would still be a US citizen FROM BIRTH due to his mother's citizenship and residency.

Also, as a former resident of Hawaii (courtesy of the US Army) I know that Hawaii does not have a legal document of birth other than the certificate of live birth. States get to make their own laws about this sort of thing and Hawaii has chosen to not have something called a long form birth certificate.

How complicated is it? You birthers really need to get a new hobby.

The governor of the state of Hawaii said he would produce said proof, but he failed famously. Obama, simply show us the certificate and end all of this. For some reason you can't, which is in itself most troubling. Don't blame those who merely ask for the credentials.

Barack Obama's original typewritten long form birth certificate, school records, SAT and LSAT scores, college and law school admission records and grade transcripts and thesis papers, medical records, passport history, Illinois state senate tenure records, presidential campaign foreign donor lists, complete White House visitor logs and other relevant records and documents have all never been released or allowed to be subjected to any sort of scrutiny, despite several years of repeated requests for disclosure by numerous individuals and non-traditional media organizations.

The Obama 2008 campaign and subsequent administration have to date spent a considerable sum on legal fees, estimated in the millions of dollars, to fight Freedom of Information Act filings and other requests to examine this material.

Astute observers in corridors of power around the world and other quarters consider that the infamous original typewritten long form birth certificate, the most widely discussed item from the hidden paper trail, is actually the least relevant of all of the concealed records and documents, if it actually does indeed exist.

They believe that Obama's place of birth and parentage are of far less importance to the future of the United States than the truth about what makes him tick and who is pulling his strings, so to speak.

The most disheartening part of this issue is how easily people can accuse a person they don't even know (ie, Obama's late mother)of lying and cheating-- she told her son he was born in Hawaii, she got the state to acknowledge that with the certificate of live birth, yet thousands of people still assume she lied & cheated to get him recognized as a US citizen--shame on them.

EARL C missed the point: Obama has never been to court. The courts so far have dodged the question and refused to hear the case saying the plaintiffs "lacked Standing". Lacked standing? H E L L the American people don't lack standing when they are questioning the eligibilty of someone representing them from the highest office in the land! I think the courts so far are too C.S. the hear the case because if the truth shows Obama to be a phony, a usurper they are afraid of what happens. Well my question is; What if he's proven to be the phony more half the people think he, are they afraid of the reaction then? We already know he's a liar! No qustion about it. He lied on his law license application when asked what other names he used and he replied "none". Plus he's spent a fortune to hide the most basic of information that American citizens must show numerous times during their lives. So what's so special about Kenya Boy?

Wikipedia says there have been "at least 17" lawsuits involving Obama's eligibility to be president. Of course, I'm sure a lot of the legal work was paid for by third parties, or done "pro-bono" to get on the administration's good side.

i think the best arguement against the birthers was in 2009 when a roving reporter was trying to get some sensible answers from angry attendees who had carried the witch doctor signs (commissioned by the tea party patriots and dick armey), and called obama everything from hitler, stalin, pol pot, secret muslim and an undocumented alien..most just yelled the same platitudes at the reporter and screamed vile answers
but one guy was priceless when asked about the president's citizenship...with all seriousness he replied "well, he was born in hawaii!!"(you know-the island foriegn country)

Go to the last question at the bottom of the page. Abercrombie says that there is a "recording" of the birth, and that he wants to use that. He does NOT say there is a birth certificate.

in 1961, Obama's grandparents could have made an in-person report of a Hawaii birth even if the infant Barack Obama Jr. had been foreign-born. Similarly, the newspaper announcements of Obama's birth do not prove he was born in Hawaii, since they could have been triggered by the grandparents registering the birth as Hawaiian, even if the baby was born elsewhere.

Also, Obama's birth CERTIFICATE has never been on the Internet. What you have seen is a CERTIFICATION of Live Birth. The birth certificate would be hand-written or typed, and would include information like the hospital, the attending physician, his religion, his parents' names and more.

Now, I ain't saying Obama was born in Kenya. What I am saying is that there is something Obama has been working very, very hard to hide for years now.

What is it?

Um, no. In order to be a natural born citizen (born the year he was born - the law is different for those born before 1952 or after 1986, I believe), he must be

1. born in the US OR:

2. Be the child of two natural born citizens (this is why John McCain, though born overseas, is a natural born citizen), OR

3. Be the child of a non-citizen and a citizen who has resided in the US for 10 years, five of which have to be after s/he attained the age of 14. No one doubts Obama's mother was and is a citizen of the US, or that she met the residency requirement at the time of Obama's birth. Therefore, even in the bizarre off-chance that Obama WASN'T born in the US, he's still a natural-born citizen.

In other words, all this crap about birth certificates is moot. Absolutely pointless. Obama meets the requirements for citizenship, and would meet them even if he'd been born in Kenya, Japan, or on the Moon. You're arguing not only for a ridiculous amount of conspiratorial coverup on Obama's parents' part (on the off-chance that their newborn baby MIGHT want to be President someday?), but a completely unnecessary conspiratorial coverup at that.

I was truly disappointed in Eric Cantor on "Meet the Press". Eric was a very intelligent, reasonable, articulate person when he was first elected to Congress. Sadly, he have let himself be co-opted into the Tea Party Republician speak. It is sad to see such good possibilities crumble under the weight of the rhetoric of the Republician Tea Party conservatism. He looked so very uncomfortable and did not answer any of Gregory's questions but offered the Tea Party textbook answers.

But he didn't.

New Hawaiian governor Neil Abercrombie looked for the birth certificate and couldn't find it.

Obama also seals his highschool, college and law school applications.

Occam's Razor says there is something Obama wants to hide...

All of the above is akin to conspiracy theories. There are also legal safeguards to protect one's private life. Most of the controversy in Obama's life appears in his own words in his books. His birth certificate has been on the internet since shortly after the fuss began. The birthers basically do not believe legal documents. They prefer to believe the discredited forgeries made in Australia.

It is easy to want to know this and that about another person. How about a two-way street here?

By the way, the millions of dollars in legal fees? Please produce the tab.

Where was Eric Cantor on this issue two years ago? Positions of power do seem to have a sobering effect on some people. I did notice that some blogging here still do not believe that Obama is American. Well, go fact check John McCain. He was not born within the United States. This is a matter of public record. The public record is clear about Obama. The ones that say that Obama was not born in America should have to prove their birthplace after the nutcase birthers get a hold of them.

WHO designated you a "birther", and what EXACTLY does this mean? You have the audacity (because it's clearly not a right) to go around the country, point a narrow (ok -myopic) crooked finger at WHOEVER and deem them unAMERICAN? You never knew what the term was prior to November 2008, and now you want to wear it like a soiled sash?

Not one single so-called "birther" (as if you were there at the birth of every single person in this country) has the nerve to step up and say any of this out loud; they're like a bad, secret club that no one wanted to join...and yet, Group Think prevailed in spite of natural intelligence.

I can't stand cowards, and I am NOT hiding my disgust behind a computer.

Crazy = insane = mad = 2a : completely unrestrained by reason and judgment b : incapable of being explained or accounted for . (Merriam-Webster On-line Dictionary)

The people objecting to Obama on the basis of his not being a natural born citizen are mad, insane, and just plain crazy based on the definitions above.

Congress sets the definitions of who is considered a natural born citizen. Such definitions can made inclusionally retroactive (they don't invalidate the citizenship of people who qualified under the previous rules but might not qualify under the new rules.) Since it would only require a majority vote by both the Senate and the House, and since the Democrats were in majority and in support of Barack Obama as President, the point is moot. Under the definitions at the time, Obama being born in Hawaii qualifies him as a natural born citizen. Claims that he was born elsewhere (like Kenya) and brought as an infant to Hawaii where a fake certificate was provided, miss the point that immigration would have noted that an infant accompanied his parents from Kenya to Hawaii. There's a perfectly legitimate short form certificate of birth for him.

I don't like Obama as a President. I think he's a failure, and a liar, having deceived the American voters with promises of changes during his campaign, and then behaving like just another G.W. Bush clone. But like him or not, the majority of you elected him as President, and we're just going to have to suffer through his next two years. Make a better choice next election.

Notice it's only left-leaning media or Democrats (like Hawaii's new governor) who keep fanning the flames of this non-issue, as they are desperate in their attempt to smear any opponents of Obama's actual policies.

Answer me this, liberals: which number is higher, the % of Republicans who are 'birthers',or the % of Democrats who are 9/11 'truthers'?

Given that there are far more Democrats who are convinced Bush was behind 9/11, you would think David Gregory would push even harder on all the liberals on his weekly panel to denounce such Democrats as 'crazies'.....

I think we all need to stop calling people who disagree with us ridiculous, crazy, racist, etc. As a liberal I will never believe that George W. won both elections fairly. Some people might say that makes me crazy so I don't feel like I have the right to look down on birthers. There are people out there who will never accept Obama as our president no matter what. They are still Americans and we need to respect thier point of view even if we disagree with it.

Firstly, "birthers" may consider reading the part in our Constitution that deals with presidential qualifications, none of which suggest anything other than the candidate must be a U.S. citizen, not the parents! I just don't get it. Let's agree, for sake of argument, that Obama is not a US citizen. What remedy do the birthers desire? The simplest, most obvious solution is that another democrat becomes President, Joe Biden. Do they really expect that two + years of legislation and executive orders would simply be undone, and the calendar would read Jan 2008 again? Do they think throwing the leadership of the US into turmoil would be a good thing both here in the US and in the eyes of the world? I have yet to read a birther suggest what they hope would happen if they were suddenly proved correct.

I see many very lengthy and detailed posts listing all the things we don't know and no one seems to answer these points. My mother placed my son's birth announcement in her hometown newspaper...in ANOTHER STATE...but he wasn't born there. It proves nothing.

They simply say "I BELIEVE that Obama was born in the U.S." or "I see no evidence to the contrary that suggests that the President was born elsewhere." I want to comment about something ThisIsJohnGaltSpeaking said. He claimed that Obama was born to a U.S. citizen and therefore was born a citizen. We agree on this point but then he said that "Natural born citizen" has been interpreted as being born in the country and we disagree on that point. I do not believe the Supreme Court has ever ruled on this and if it has, why can't I find that ruling?

Obama is a natural born citizen because his mother was a U.S. citizen and he was born a citizen because of that. Though I believe he was born in Hawaii it really does not matter where he was born. Since birth, he has been a citizen. Period.

Any child born of a U.S. citizen is a citizen by birth, no matter where the child is born. Obama's mother was a U.S. citizen so he is a citizen by birth, no matter where he was born.

I believe he was born in Hawaii, as he claims but even if he was born on Mars, he would be a citizen of the United States.

The Birthers have no argument and they are nuts to continue this for so long. Why don't they just admit it, they don't like the guy and will use any argument to tear him down.

The president who campaigned for a more “open government” and “full disclosure” will not unseal his medical records, his school records, or his passport records. He will not release his Harvard records, his Columbia College records, or his Occidental College records—he will not even release his Columbia College thesis. All his legislative records from the Illinois State Senate are missing and he claims his scheduling records during those State Senate years are lost as well. In addition, no one can find his school records for the elite K-12 college prep school, Punahou School, he attended in Hawaii.

Obama literally couldn't pass a background check for a GS-2 Clerical working for the Federal Government but we can elect him leader of our country.

The document was filed on August 8, 1961. There is no indication that Barack Obama Senior was present at the birth of his third child. Stanley Ann’s high school classmate Susan Blake had the impression that he was not there, and may not even have been on the island of Hawaii at the time, but no other contemporary has any recollections on this issue one way or the other.

I can't fault Cantor for not calling "birthers" crazy. I don't think they're crazy. I do think that a bogus "issue" keeps being pulled out from under rocks by people who think that if they keep screaming for long enough, whatever they say will become true. The "birthers" are busy passing along the screaming, without thought.

I sure Obama was born in this country, and is a legal citizen. I know the matter has been confirmed fourteen ways from Sunday by authorities with all the legal and other ability needed to make sure of the facts, and that the people who did this confirmation represented all the people of this nation.

I have repeatedly heard "birthers" repeat the mantra "If he has nothing to hide, why doesn't he just produce the certificate?"

Seriously, all of you. Stop yelling at each other and check your own paperwork. Do you really have the document in your hands that you say the president should have?

I was born in the US more than fifty years ago. At one point my parents showed me an old-school birth certificate that had my footprint and a lot of other information on it. As far as I know, they still have that document in a safe-deposit box near where they live. I don't have it. When I needed to get a new driver's license a few years ago, I needed confirmation of citizenship. Between my old license, an old passport, and a document sent my by the state in which I was born, I passed all the necessary hurdles to get my new license.

I have that document at my desk. It is a "Certification of Birth." It doesn't name my parents, indicate my birthplace except by county, but it is an official proof of birth.

What paperwork do you have that makes you more of a citizen than I am?

My wife was born in the US more than fifty years ago. The hospital where she was born burned down more than thirty years ago. Her parents are long dead. She has proof of birth from her birth state, but it is similar to what I have next to me as I type.

How about it, birthers? Am I not married to a citizen? Are we both at risk of deportation for the crime of not having whatever documents it is that you think everyone should have in a place so they can produce it on a minute's notice?

As I said before. Can you meet your own standards? If not, would you please stop the screaming? Even if you can, stop assuming that anyone who doesn't have your particular "gold standard" documentation is an illegal alien. By your standards, my wife and I are also not "real Americans," and that upsets me.

"AntiBirthers" are some of the least credible people around: they lie, they mislead, they tango away from questions, and then they smear to cover it all up. The "AntiBirthers" on the GOP/conservative side are *even worse*: they're even more intellectually and ethically deficient than their (openly) Obama-supporting counterparts.

For instance, both the *current* and *previous* HI governors have misled about this issue. Abercrombie tried to give the impression that he was at the birth hospital, but then he was forced to admit that - according to him - he'd seen Baby O at "social events". Yet, it's not clear whether StanleyAnn & Sr. ever even lived together, and StanleyAnn was in Seattle for about a year starting when O was as young as a few weeks. So, whether they were attending a lot of "social events" is somewhat questionable.

Most of the Tea Baggers and Birthers seem to be made up of a mix of gun-nuts, retired USG and military from all kinds of backgrounds except they all know what it is to get a security clearance simply because this group thrives on government pensions, Medicare, and TriCare medical. All provided to them by the government they seek so hard to destroy because in its present form it reaches out to the non-white and needy. But on the subject of the President's birth location and because during "vetting" the Secret Service and FBI had to do a most thorough check on him not just for the last 8 or 10 years but from birth. Now is there some conspiracy that both the Secret Service and FBI before the election was finalized gave Senator Obama a pass. And if they did, would such an effort not get leaked simply because there has to be a fair-share of right wing types filling the ranks of those organizations. In all it is just another sample of some very flawed thinking.

A Kenyan birth certificate? A newspaper announcement? Anything?

They have no evidence that Obama was born anywhere but in Hawaii. All they have is their evidence-free allegations that he wasn't. Let's see some evidence that he was born somewhere else. And, no, a question is not evidence.

The governor of Hawaii is an idiot if he thinks producing Obama's birth certificate will shut these nutjobs up. They're fanatics, just like the "truthers" who claim Bush was somehow complicit in the September 11 attacks. They would claim that water isn't wet and fire isn't hot, if it were somehow necessary to support their loony claims.

Cantor is perfect proof of how either incompetent (and ignorant) or how disingenuous our elected officials are. Once more: the issue is not whether Obama is a generic "citizen" of the US. The issue is whether he is a "natural born" citizen. Only the latter category of citizens can be a US president. Anyone who does not know the difference or who pretends there is no difference does not belong in public office - especially not in the federal Congress.

Many people in rural areas of the United States have been born at home and just received a notation in a family bible until until they needed a birth certificate. Everyone now knows that president Obama has a birth certificate. Do all Republican members of congress have one issued at the time of birth. Can they all prove their citizenship? I have never seen the birth certificate of my Republican Rep. or senators. Let's start with the doubters.

Why is it that every white president in this country (outside the first four, of course) were born here and not questioned about their birthplaces, but the second a black president arrives, it's impossible for him to have been born here. How does a rumor like this even begin? Xenophobic d-bags who can't imagine how a white girl from Kansas and a guy from Kenya could get it on and have a baby Barack - in AMERICA, of all places. They met in college, after all, and Hawaii is a romantic place. Why would she have flown to Kenya during her final weeks of gestation to have the baby? More importantly, Obama did give documentation to support his bid to become president including a birth certificate, as did McCain who had a maritime birth - that's how it works.

But noooo, Republicans don't care how they get elected or who elects them, so they won't be honest with the public. All they have is lies and deceit. They know they can't win on the merits. I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed the "I think" quote from Cantor. If the GOP really wanted this issue to go away they would be a lot more forceful on their stance. But no. It should be mandatory when candidates turn in the paperwork to run for president that a copy of their birth certificate be included. It's a requirement for the office so why isn't it done now? He said "I THINK the president is a citizen of the United States." The correct response is "Pres. Obama was born in Hawaii which has been proven over and over again, therefore, he is a citizen of the United States just as I am having been born in..."

Many years ago when I was in the military, I held a rather high-level security clearance. To get that clearance, the only document I had to present in order to verify my citizenship was my home state's equivalent of the kind of certificate that Obama has already produced.

If that document was good enough for the FBI and the Office of Naval Intelligence in the 1970's when the Cold War was in full swing and everyone was worried about moles, seems like it ought to be good enough now too. Assuming, of course, you are a reasonable person.

Here's the plain truth. Obama is the President of the United States of America. I don't think he could have gotten as far as he did without producing a birth certificate. I am very confident in our government vetting all petitioners that wish to become the President of the United States.

Simply and plainly put: His documents had to be verified or else the man would not be the President. He wouldn't have even been a candidate if he didn't have the proper documentation to prove he was a citizen.

It's strange that he's the ONLY President whose nationality has been questioned. I guess it's his name......

If the birthers are correct why dont they go to court --- oh wait they did and two different courts dismissed the case. The newspaper notice are pretty persuasive unless the birthers claim that in 1961 Obama was setting up this attempt to defraud the American people. Last the Certificate of Live Birth - which is a birth certificate - has been published. It has survived (fraudulent) attempts to claim it is a forgery.
Of course the article is about the fact that Cantor is too weak or dishonest to state the truth.

I never believed it before the 2008 election. I thought it was just dirty politics. I couldn't figure out though why Obama won't produce it to shut people up. Recently the new governor of Hawaii decided to show us the birth certificate once and for all. Good idea let's end the issue. Suddenly he isn't able to do so. You have to ask why and the best reason is Obama wasn't born here. I now think the birthers have been right after all. Obama can't produce it because there isn't one. OOPS! Those crazy birthers have been right all along. That paper that Obama has produced is NOT a birth certificate. It's a certificate of live birth and those are two totally different things. I think his place of birth needs to be verified before the next election as part of his paperwork to run. Why let the man have a second term when he hasn't provided a true birth certificate?

On June 18, 1787, Alexander Hamilton submitted to the Convention a sketch of a plan of government. Article IX, section 1 of Hamilton's plan provided:

Bringing up Obama's citizenship is like blowing a dog whistle for those who sport tinfoil hats. The point of this article is that Eric Cantor, an influential and rising member of the Republican Party can't bring himself to state that birthers are delusional. Why? Because he recognizes that birthers are the most passionate Obama haters. Since hating Obama has become a strategy for the national Republican Party, Cantor hardly can do anything else. As to why birthers persist in spouting crackpot legal and constitutional arguments, you'd have to ask their facilitators over at Fox.

An interesting theory of late has to do with the fact that when Obama was adopted by Indonesian Lolo Soetoro in the 1970s, his name was legally changed to Barry Soetoro.

As far as we know, he never filed the papers to change his name back to “Barack Hussein Obama, Jr.”, so any birth certificate produced by the state of Hawaii would now list him as corrected to “Barry Soetoro”. It would be interesting to see what race it lists too.

This may explain why he's withholding his school records too. He may have decided belatedly--maybe around the time he wanted to get into Harvard Law--that being a black man would get him a better deal than being an Indonesian.

I'm sure it did. But it looks like maybe he never followed through.

I would think the American people would better spend their time worrying about the destruction of the socio-economic structure that created the high living standards of the 20th century and the systematic and deliberate move toward socialism and perhaps even communism (if a subsequent administration chooses to continue down the path). It will destroy the living standard of all Americans just as it did in Cuba, China, the Soviet Union, Poland, and East Germany.

In accordance with the Citizenship Clause, part of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, citizenship may be acquired automatically at birth or through the process of naturalization: "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside."


President Obama was BORN in the USA. Nowhere in the above amendment does it state that his father had to be BORN in the US for him to become a citizen.

And the first paragraph of this piece is Cantor's refusal to repeat David's exact words as if the non-repeating was a sacrilege. Rather than pointing out that nobody gives a darn about the subject except for left wingers trying to create an issue out of it. Mr. Cantor tried to save Gregory's integrity by insisting nobody cared about the non-issue, but I guess the "Meet the Press" host who totally missed Tim Russert's journalistic chops as the reason the show mattered. Why is the issue so complicated? When my son signs up for a sport's program, they always asks for a birth certificate. He has always provided one. IT IS ONLY THEN THAT HE IS ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE! Why can't "President" Obama simply produce it? When he does, then He can participate. Then we can say -"Mr. President."

I listened to Mr. Cantor this morning and he, like the rest of the Republicans don't seem to understand that in the Presidential election the American people rejected Republican policies and ideologies. George Bush was given eight years to put forth Republican policies and in the end the American people felt those policies almost destroyed our country. At least Bush was given a chance to see what his policies would do. The American people chose the policies of Democrats and and elected Barack Hussein Obama as President. Sad to say that with purging the air waves of any other voice besides the Conservative, right wing doom, gloom, hate, intolerance and ignorance, we will get the America some people deserve. But while Republicans will be eagerly blaming Democrats and President Obama, those of us still able to think and look into things for ourselves know better.

At least going by the quote, Cantor is a smarts/integrity-challenged dope.

Him not calling "Birthers" crazy means nothing because his opponents are going to keep on calling them crazy. And, a good portion of the GOP base can be smeared as "Birthers".

Cantor isn't smart enough to figure that out.

The smarter way to do things would be to simply tell the truth:

While an amazingly high 10% of the population are "birthers, " almost every single lower class uneducated white middle aged one of them is a republicon. Without these knuckle dragging neanderthals republicons can not win elections. can't-tour is not going to call them crazy because they actually know what that words means, or at least understand that it is "bad" when someone calls you crazy.

Of course he doesn't want to call them "crazy" because he'd be alienating a segment of the GOP base. The Republican Party is fast being dominated by the "crazy talk" and it isn't just Birthers.

Maybe all the republican officeholders in Hawaaii of roughly Obama's age can show us their "long form" birth certificates? We have not seen any of theirs? Do we know they have them? Why don't they produce them?
