Sarah Palin to speak at gun convention

By Emi Kolawole

Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin is scheduled to deliver the keynote address at the Safari Club International (SCI) gun convention on Jan. 29. According to the organization's Web site, the event is sold out.

News of the speech comes a little less than a week after the mass shooting in Tucson that left federal judge John Roll, 9-year old Christina Green and four others dead, and Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) and 12 others wounded.

A graphic featuring the image of crosshairs over Giffords's district had been posted on Palin's Facebook page and political action committee Web site. A video of Giffords referring to the graphic as being overly incendiary was re-played throughout the aftermath of the shootings. Palin was also criticized for having used the phrase "Don't retreat -- reload" in the wake of the health-care overhaul bill's passage.

On Thursday, Palin released an online video response offering both her condolences to the victims and a defense against her critics. However, the video also was criticized as having created more division.

Palin will be delivering the speech as some members of Congress on both sides of the aisle promote gun-control legislation in the wake of the tragedy. But the chance that gun-control legislation will reach the president's desk is remote. As the Washington Post's James V. Grimaldi reports:

Pro-gun majorities in the House and Senate jeopardize any chance for gun legislation this year. On Tuesday, for example, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick J. Leahy (D-Vt.) did not list a single gun-related bill in a lengthy speech outlining his legislative priorities.

The SCI convention will also feature comedian Larry The Cable Guy, The Marshall Tucker Band, Pure Praire League, Elvis impersonator Matt Lewis, NASCAR team owner Richard Childress and conservative commentator Michael Reagan.

I am told that someone speaking for Westboro Baptist Church said that Sarah Palin is a "freak".

I don't know if this is actually true (that this was said, I mean). But it should be.

Sarah Palin is unreal. This woman is too pathetic to even be taken serious about another political seat. She plays the "victim" card all the time; like she will on the Hannity show and everyone knows how Hannity lacks integrity in every sense of the word. Sarah goes to a gun show after crying that she was victimized by the media with the disasterous event in TUcson. Ok Ms VICTIM, you are a real joke of a person. If Sarah was geniune about a political career she would NOT have played the victim and would have been proud to say to all citizens that if her design (crosshairs) and her constant words (reload, 2nd admendments, etc) were a factor in this tragic shooting, I am sorry; but no, Ms Victim cannot find words like that which is why she will never show up on any station but FIX News with no integrity Hannity. Neither one of these individuals have respect for people and/or our president.

Sarah Palin, Nick Lachey, Jessica Simpson and Gloria Estefan . . . I place them at the top of my list of those with the most lopsided ratios of media exposure vs. talent. As a moderate Republican, I actually welcome each misstep Ms. Palin makes. She'll soon become irrelevant and the country won't be bothered with the distraction in 2012. Her craving for attention through the media only highlights her obscene hypocrisy. Or perhaps it's a craving for money. In which case, her shameless overexposure can only last so long.

Well, Sarah Palin's Google index in news went up 3 times during this week. Not so bad, using journalist as free advertisers, while the opinion of public that supports Palin is NOT formed by journalists.

So, a clear win weak for Palin. Also, sticking to your principles in a tough moment pays off in long term.

Now Sarah Palin is saying she has death threats just to make sure she continues to get attention. The FBI might want to check it out and who knows maybe another fake report but she will look to blame somebody. No one really cares enough about Sarah to even think of harming her. She's our SNL entertainment without waiting for Saturday night.

This is somehow so NOT surprising. For someone who heartily disliked being called out for her 'gun talk' 'surveyers marks not gunsight target' language - her being keynote to this convention, only proves the point that one must watch was Palin does, far more closely than what she says when she opens her mouth.

Most of the comments here are very logical; then somebody mentions 'the left', always after her and her family. What is the left, really? I'm not ignorant here. It is other Americans that have a viewpoint and voice it as a right to freedom of speech. But those that call themselves 'the right' can't allow 'the left' to do that without the branding that goes on. I'm a 'cold-war' veteran and I'm an Independent Moderate. I used to be a 'conservative Republican; but my sense of age has softened me to have compassion for those that struggle everyday and really need help in this country. I am against deficit spending and illegal immigration, but, when someone calls me 'lefist', it pretty well makes me feel as if I lean toward Communism or Socialism and everything I defended against while I was in the Army. It makes me pissed off.

Why can't we all just be Americans without the freaking labels?! If I feel that everyone here needs adequate health care, I'm called 'a Liberal!?' Really?! And I've been told I wasted my votes and don't really see the 'big picture' or don't really love my country?! Just because my opinion doesn't fit in your square or round hole?!
If you're a veteran and act that way, I don't really think you understood why you were serving; if you're just a 'civilian' and never served, you need to re-read the Constitution (maybe with some tutoring) because you really don't seem to get the 'freedom of speech' deal, now do you! Differences of opinion were going on before the Constitution was being hammered-out; but they got together and worked out their differences for the sake of the country. Many here today put 'Party' before 'Country' and that's why they can't tolerate others who have the least bit of a different view. If you want to see the full implimentation of that, just go back to Nazi Germany. The funny thing is that these people, who put 'party' before 'country' are dangerously closer to Socialism/Fascism than they can realize!

Palin does not have 'Country' in mind; not 'Country' as a whole. Oh, yeah, she's big on 'gun ownership fear' that sends most into paranoia (and will never happen here!) and she 'hunts' and she talks about 'freedoms' and letting kids eat what they want, even though the Gov't pays for it now and there all getting obese. And she's tough on everything 'UnAmerican'; but she lacks insight and truly lacks compassion for the country as a whole. And the most serious flaw is she doesn't know much about a lot because she is not open-minded. And that makes her a person that only complains, but never provides alternative solutions; only ignorance as in 'Drill, baby, drill!. Complaints, with no alternative solutions presentd, seeding paranoia, a tough hand with no real compassion and no open-mindedness does not make for a competent Presidential candidate. And if you want her; that's your right, but be careful what you ask for and I would ask you to soul-search your decision. Is it for 'Party' or 'Country?' Really.

If people educated themselves about Safari Club International (SCI), they would be numb with disgust, if they care even an iota about wildlife. The animals do not have a chance they are imported to these places and braindead thugs with a lump of cash get to blow these magnificent creatures to pieces with their sophisticated weaponry, for which the simplest moron would have 100% kill success. Palin fits the profile. It is no joke that this woman has the worst environmental track record of any politician to date. At a time when habitat destruction and poaching have decimating individual species to perilous lows, we have a moron like Palin claiming this is individual freedom. This is not sport. It is massacre. As noted by another poster in another site, "SCI was founded by C.J. McElroy, a hunter who was eventually forced to resign his leadership role. McElroy has 335 hunted animals listed in SCI record books, including African elephants, Pacific walrus, southern white rhinoceros¬, black rhinoceros¬, Scimitar-h¬orned oryx, addax, hippopotam¬us, pygmy hippopotam¬us, dama gazelle, polar bear, African lions, Bengal tigers, wolves, leopards, jaguar and others. Some of these species have become endangered and can no longer be hunted in their native habitats."

Anyone who does not object to this on the basis of the lowest denominator of common decency and concern about the future of fragile wildlife populations, is clearly in the same league as undereducated, vile Palin. The broad is crass and would do anything for a buck.

She does what ever she can to attract attention. That is what people are doing when they take the stage.

I can't wait to see what stupidity will come out the Mountain Girl's mouth next.

Some might be tired of seeing Sarah Palin in the media spotlight, but I'm lovin' it because every time Palin opens her yap, she puts another bullet in her political career. The more people see how absolutely DUMB Palin is, the less likely she'll get elected dogcatcher, much less president.

She's a joke. A rich, sexy joke (I wouldn't kick her out of bed), but a joke all the same.

Listening to all the right wing extreme speech over the last couple of years, most of us felt that an event like Tucson was almost inevitable. I was afraid it would be against the President. All the denial that this is not related is nonsense. We ALL know that it is, and the right wing coming forward with excuses and spin, without even being named, clearly shows their guilty conscience

If Sarah Palin's target list had been companies conducting animal crueltry in the name of research, she would have been convicted of a crime:

The SHAC 7 were convicted on “animal enterprise terrorism” charges for campaigning to shut down a notorious animal testing lab, Huntingdon Life Sciences.

Huntingdon Life Sciences has labs in New Jersey and England, and five undercover investigations have shown workers punching beagle puppies in the face, dissecting live monkeys and falsifying scientific data. Activists with Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty, an international organization, set out to close the lab using tactics similar to the anti-apartheid movement: they pressured business associated with the lab to sever ties, in what the government has called “tertiary targeting.”

The “terrorist” campaign of the SHAC 7 didn’t involve anthrax, pipe bombs, or a plot to hijack an airplane. They ran a website. On that website, they posted news about the campaign — legal actions like protests and illegal actions like stealing animals from labs — and unabashedly supported all of it. Since the federal government has largely been unable catch groups like the Animal Liberation Front and Earth Liberation Front, prosecutors went after lawful activists in the spotlight.

The SHAC 7 is a landmark First Amendment case that will test how far the government can push “terrorism” rhetoric in order to pursue a political agenda and silence speech. It is also a landmark case for the corporations and politicians targeting SHAC. As David Martosko of the Center for Consumer Freedom, an industry lobby group, said after the conviction: “This is just the starting gun.”

Perhaps no other American politician is in more danger than Sarah Palin. As a left wing Democrat I rarely agree with anything she says but I am glad she is able to make controversial statments which anger the main stream media. I hope she has good bodyguards. She and obama have something in common. Regardless of what either does their is a large group who will criticize whatever it was. I hope she is the Republican nominee for the Presidency. The choice between her or Obama will be difficult for many. As for me I voted for Obama in 2008 but in 2012 I will not vote. He is a big disappointment to me. He is as much a war monger as George Bush without George Bushes personal likeability.

Palin has become repugnant even to mainstream Republicans. So far not a single one has come to her defense of her video.

And now she decides it is a good idea to give a speech at a gun convention. There is nothing wrong with gun ownership in my opinion. Palin is not stupid she is a psychopathic narcissist.

She knows full well what she is doing and the crowd she caters to. Thankfully many Republicans have distanced themselves from her self destructive ways.

But those following these loud mouth liars should consider what it is exactly that you are cheering for. Do you really want to incite the crazies to take to arms and actually kill people? Is the 6 year old child that was killed really the enemy? I doubt it. Unfortunately the republicans think that they can bully the rest of us to follow their ideas. But I for one will never bow to their will and they should know I do not stand alone. As a democrate i do believe that every American should have health care, not just the fortunate and wealthy, I for one believe that every American should have access to an education, not just the fortunatate and the wealthy. Let's face it, the republicans have used the tea bagers to get control of the house, just as they used the evangelicals to get Bush elected. Once they are in power, they will pay some lip service to the tea bagers (i.e. read the constitution), but in the end they will tell them to move over as they push their agenda. The biggest crime is of those that call themselves "independent" or "undecided" because they swing with the tides. As Paul Krugman said, "the nuts are listening" refering to the those of you who are responding to the rherotic of the loud mouth hard line conservatives suggesting that democrates "must be removed" and "by whatever means". I will say it here that the loud mouths saying these reprehensible things are simpley doing it for the money. That's right, loud mouth FOX media pupets like Palin and that jerk sean hanity are making megabucks on the backs of those of you who lack the ability to think on your own and think you are riding some kind of world changing wave of new world interpretation. But unfortunatly you who are following these charlitans are just not too smart. They do not really want people to die, but if they do, so be it, as long as they are making the big bucks. Let's face it your are either a democrat (cares about others) or a republican (cares about themselves) it is that simple, stupid!

Defend yourself against the slander of the left and they will say you are "playing the victim" (it's one of their template retorts). Actually, defending oneself is avoiding victimhood, not playing to it. It's certainly far better than excusing the perpetrator, which is what the left is doing by blaming Palin, Tea-Party, and everybody else for the Tuscon shooting.

law1946 corrects the use of "delenda" in the phrase "delenda est." In defense of the learned "kaddafidelenda est" (probably should not be feminine since Kaddafi is male), who uses this as his screen name. The origin of the phrase is "Carthago delenda est" [Carthage must be destroyed], which expressed the determination of Rome to defeat its archenemy, Carthage, in the days of Hannibal. The noun, "Carthago" is feminine; hence the feminine form of the present participial [adjective]"delenda."

Hope this helps.

KaddafiDelendaEst, as his screen name indicates, is a cultured, well-educated individual, probably with a classical foundation. Doubtless,he has much to offer to the common discourse: constructive ideas, fact-based opinions, for example.

However, when his comments include abusive, defamatory remarks they diminish his credibility. I offer this opinion respectfully, trusting that a person with his gifts can lead us all to greater civility.

Of course, he already knows that most people, no matter what their partisan leanings, are fundamentally good, well-intentioned, patriotic. A very small minority from each political camp tend to be immature, destructive, divisive in their comments to and about others.

Pardon my taking the liberty, Kaddfidelendaest, to ask you to set an example of true class for the rest of us.

It will take a while I know, but they reveal themselves to be nothing but corporate tools and thralls to the NRA on a daily basis. @rharring: So some deranged people have access to the internet and cable television. It still doesn't show any evidence that political pundits such as Beck are to blame for their actions. Did we blame The Beatles for some of the Manson Family murders when they wrote "Helter Skelter" in blood? No we did not because as a society we had more emphasis on personal responsibility. Thanks to the progressive/ liberal movement we have succeeded in creating a society where there is always something to blame. Total BS is you ask me. It's quite pathetic that the Left stoops to such lows to place blame on political opponents for actions of sick individuals.

Nobama11,

Seem to have selective memory there chief, i guess you dont remember these incidents that were inspired by your Right Wing mentors:

"Glen Beck poisoned Nancy Pelosi in effigy on his set, soon after a man threatened to firebomb Pelosi's San Francisco residence. The man's mother said her son got all his ideas from Fox News.

"In March, Senator Patty Murray received a death threat after voting to reform our nation's health care system. The potential assassin said she had a target on her back and it would only take one bullet to accomplish his objective. Charles Wilson was arrested and convicted for repeatedly threatening to kill Murray. During the sentencing phase of his trial, Wilson's cousin submitted a memo to the court arguing for leniency.

The cousin wrote:

"What happened later with Charlie is something I think I can understand. He became basically housebound due to illness and his small world became even smaller. His brother got him a computer and he was able to stay connected with family. And he watched television and found Glenn Beck...I found Glenn Beck about the same time that Charlie did and I understand how his fears were grown and fostered by Mr. Beck's persuasive personality...While his actions were undeniably wrong and his choices terrible, in part they were the actions of others played out against a very gullible Charlie. He was under the spell that Glenn Beck cast, aided by the turbulent times in our economy."

Finally, in a jailhouse interview this summer, California gunman Byron Williams said he was inspired by Beck -- whom he called his "schoolteacher on TV" -- to try to assassinate the staff of a liberal philanthropic foundation in San Francisco.

What is your defense now?

Although I have never been a fan or Ms Palin, I believe she has the ability and talent to make a constructive contribution to society, but not in politics. Those who admire and care for her would do well to advise her to direct her energies to bringing our people together. I am sure she wants what is best for our country. Civility, mutual respect are fundamental behaviors that need to be encouraged especially by those who choose or are elected to lead. She has the gifts to be an entertainer, a tv personality who can bring pleasure to many lives. Politics is not her metier.

From the web site of the Safari Club International (SCI) Convention:

"2011 Annual Hunters' Convention
The Ultimate Hunters Market"

"Speakers
Larry the Cable Guy
Sarah Palin
Matt Lewis as Elvis
Richard Childress
Michael Reagan"

"Hundreds of Exhibitors
Everything Hunters Dream About.
Great Auctions on Hunts, Gear and more!"

I don't think this is not about hunting and guns (that don't kill people of course).

1)How is Sarah being maligned letting the public know about her speaking at this gun event in the middle of her controversy? It is certainly relevant in a discussion of the role gun culture plays in America.

The Tea Party Republicans will show up in force for her now (it is sold out!) even if they can't spell Safari. They can spell gun. Thank god for that!

She will be up there at the podium with great American Patriots like Matt Lewis as Elvis and Larry the Cable Guy, who I hear is not "reloading", so it should be safe for children.

The timing is well, not so good, after her, "America, I am the victim video", bombed but these gun shows/conventions are her money train and this is America. She should cash in ASAP before the nation catches up with this Arctic Grifter.

Wait, was that a teleprompter I saw reflected in Moose Palin's glasses on the video? Couldn't have been, could it?

I doubt it. So it's not conservatism or gun support that bothers your and your ilk. The only reason Palin's appearance at this gun/hunitng show is at all notable is because some people (wrongly) tried to tie her (falsely) to the Tuscon shooting. Since the connection has been shown to be totally without merit, there should be no concern as to her appearance at the show - unless one is still bitterly clinging to this false connection between Palin and Loughern.

The gracious and decent thing to do would be to cancel—after all, there is a time and a place, and now is not the time. Heaven’s knows plenty of opportunities will be forthcoming as gun dealers stage some 5,000 gun shows in the United States annually (estimates by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives).

As usual, grace and decency is too much to expect from Sarah Palin—that’s why she will never be elected president. Palin offends and divides far more Americans than she charms and unites—6 out of 10 (60%) say they would never vote for her. And those Americans were polled before her many faux pas following the Tucson shootings—I’d venture to guess her numbers have slipped even further since last Saturday.

Have you notice the deafening silence on the right over her facebook video? Her usual cadre of defenders (Beck, Hannity, Limbaugh, Fox News, et al) suddenly fell silent; likewise not a single GOP leader has stepped foreword to defend her video and “blood libel” rant. Clearly her conduct throughout this entire tragedy has been one faux pas after another; everyone who is anyone is so obviously distancing themselves from her for fear of getting splattered with her muck.

Who better than Sarah to spew crap at a gunslingers convention? They might want to consider electing her as their leader and then doing something useful like signing up for Iraq or Afghanistan tours rather than spending their time shooting helpless animals that can't fight back.

The SCI is that organization of he-men who pay tens of thousands of dollars to go to big game "ranches" and shoot exotic, non-indigenous animals that have been imprisoned in the enclosed acreage.

In other words, sport-hunting of captive animals by real tough guys. Grrrr.

Since Sarah Palin has shown us her own fondness for hunting animals on a less-than-level playing field (helicopter shooting of wolves, anyone?), we can see why she'd be such a big draw at this convention.

And, since it will contribute in no small measure to her increasing alienation of Anerican voters, I say, "You go, girl! Go get those boys' pants in a twist."

Then they can go out and shoot some more "fish in a barrel."

There is a connection right now with everyone in the US and guns and violence toward any living thing right now. Do you not see that? It's not just about Sarah. The only reason she is talked about is because of her violent rhetoric and pension for guns.

This is bad taste because 19 of our fellow Americans were gunned down in a violent act and Sarah is a celebrity that has a vast fan base and she garners a lot of attention. People pay attention to her words and actions, unfortunately.

It's bad timing, just like her video, because the shootings just occurred. It's bad timing and bad taste for her if she's thinking about a bid for president. People will forever remember her speaking at a gun club just weeks after such a horrific tragedy, especially when she never took responsibility for making the mistake of putting up that map targeting those congressional districts with sniper scopes.

People who live in cardboard boxes have enough problems without being a danger that requires softer rhetoric by politicians. The politicians can just keep assailing each other. Soon enough, some radical like Sirhan Sirhan or Oswald or Arthur Bremer or James Earl Ray will shoot one of them.

This is what this organization is about that you and WND has now demonized in order to associate Loughner with President Obama. Merely because he outshone your queen Sarah.

Bad taste and timing - only to you and your leftist ilk, because you have drawn a false connection between Sarah Palin and the Tuscon shooter. However, if you were able to get out of your own deranged thinking and look at this issue clearly, you would see that her appearance has no bearing whatsover on the suffering of those in Tuscon. They will bear their suffering with or without Palin.

Quite frankly, I believe Mrs. Palin should be talking more in public. That way each time she opens her mouth, the number of people who follow her leadership will shrink. I used to be a supporter; but not anymore. She lost me completely with her 8-minute video on the Tucson shootings.

This might not be something that you're familiar with, but it's just in bad taste and it's bad timing. Why do you think everyone is talking about it?

The problem with Sarah and her fans is that she brings criticism on herself with what she does and says. It seems she's free to demonize and criticize, but when people point out her meanness and hypocrisy, she plays the victim and you guys defend her at every turn and especially when she's wrong. Someone has to tell the emperor, she has no clothes. You guys won't do it.

This is in bad taste and it's bad timing. This is not to say and NO ONE HAS SAID OR IS SAYING that she had anything to do with the shootings in Arizona, but that she's got to stop with this violent rhetoric and imagery in her political speech. That's all we are saying.

All these Palin haters seem to empower Sarah with each attack. If this article was about how the sun shined you would be attacking her for how hateful that is. Palin is what you created her for, out of thin air, with every insecure person who feels threatened by here mere existence. As entertaining as this to observe, enough already, let it rest. Palin will disappear just as she emerged when all her attackers let go their suppressed rage at their lot in life and focus on something more positive.

Here are famous liberal assassins:

-Leon Czolgosz, the anarchist who murdered the very conservative William McKinley;

-Harry Orchard, the union bomber who blew up Idaho governor Frank Steunenberg in 1905;

-Lee Harvey Oswald, the Marxist who murdered JFK in 1963

-Radical Islamist Sirhan Sirhan killing Bobby Kennedy, presidential candidate in 1968 for his support of Israel.

-Lynette “Squeaky” Fromme, who tried to attack Gerald Ford in 1975 on behalf of “clean air, healthy water, and respect for creatures and creation,”

-Sara Jane Moore, who fired a .38 revolver at Ford a few weeks after Fromme’s abortive attack because the “government had declared war on the left”;

-Unabomber Ted Kaczynski, anarchist that sent random bombs by mail for over 20 yrs.

-John Hinckley, the would-be assassin of Ronald Reagan who claimed Lee Harvey Oswald as his role model, and emulated Robert DeNiro's role in the movie "Taxi Driver" in an attempt to impress real-life actress Jodie Foster.

This is what is known in America (USA USA USA) as a joke and it is funny not violent although it does mention guns (that do NOT kill people of course!):

"Somebody told me the other day that the Secret Service has orders that if George Bush is shot, they're to shoot Quayle."
(If you don't get I can help you)

Additionally, no amount of lists will undo the work of decades of pro-gun, violent hate speak and anti-government rhetoric from the GOP. It is a huge mountain load and you have but a runcible spoonful from the other side to make your list. That is why it looks so lame and it is so old.

Would it make any difference to the extreme right wing-nuts that gun control has nothing to do with the 2nd Amendment? Would it do any good to explain that control does not take away your rights to own and bear arms? What it does is restrict the use of certain kinds of guns and ammunition so that this country does not become Thunderdome. If gun restrictions are not made, than that means you can own missiles and nuclear weapons. Why is there a problem with limits? Because what is the purpose of gun ownership? It's not to overthrow the government as some in the tea party have suggested, because there's no way you can overthrow this government if you don't possess more and better arms than the military. If gun ownership means overthrowing the government when you think it's become tyrannical, it means you're in an arms race everyday just to keep up, let alone overpower. So, tell me why can't their be limits to make gun ownership responsible and keep arms and ammunition out of the hands of the irresponsible?

When Governor Bush was delivering his 2000 convention speech, Craig Kilborn, a CBS talk-show host, showed him on the screen with the words "SNIPERS WANTED."

Bill Maher asked John Kerry what he had gotten his wife for her birthday. Kerry answered that he had taken her to Vermont. Maher said, "You could have went to New Hampshire and killed two birds with one stone." (New Hampshire is an early primary state, of course.) Kerry said, "Or I could have gone to 1600 Pennsylvania and killed the real bird with one stone."

This is the same Kerry who joked in 1988, "Somebody told me the other day that the Secret Service has orders that if George Bush is shot, they're to shoot Quayle."

Also in 2006, the New York comptroller, Alan Hevesi, spoke to graduating students at Queens College. He said that his fellow Democrat, Sen. Charles Schumer, would "put a bullet between the president's eyes if he could get away with it."

Instead of Rick Scott running for governor of Florida, they ought to have him and shoot him. Put him against the wall and shoot him."

In December 2009: "A message to progressives: By all means, hang Senator Joe Lieberman in effigy." The author: Paul Krugman, NYT, who is now still leading the charge against the right wing.

Obama’s first chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, noted that he once sent a dead fish to a pollster who displeased him, a characteristically subtle statement carrying more than a whiff of malice and murder.

Senate candidate Joe Manchin dispensed with metaphor and simply fired a bullet through the cap-and-trade bill — while intoning, “I’ll take dead aim at [it]”

Obama messages of violence against Republicans:
Obama: “Here's the problem. It's almost like they've got -- they've got a bomb strapped to them and they've got their hand on the trigger” You don't want them to blow up. But you've got to kind of talk them, ease that finger off the trigger.
Obama: 'hand-to-hand combat'
Obama: 'I want you to argue with them and get in their face'
Obama: 'told that one of his supporters could “tear [Sean Hannity] up”
Obama: “if they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun”;
Obama: “Hit Back Twice As Hard”
Obama: 'We can’t have special interests sitting shotgun. We gotta have middle class families up in front. We don’t mind the Republicans joining us. They can come for the ride, but they gotta sit in back.”
Obama: “Punish your enemies.”
Obama: called Republicans “Enemies of Democracy”, “hostage- takers” and “Bomb throwers”.

This is the talk of violence from the president against nearly half of the country he was elected to govern and who is supposed to be president for all, not just those that agree with him.

Yonkers, New York
14 January 2011

With such an incendiary missile as "Don't retreat, reload!" and those sniper cross-hairs zeroing in on Tea Party and Republican political opponents, it is understandable why Sarah Palin is easily the "darling"--the New Messiah--of the National Rifle Association.

Sarah Palin vigorously disclaimed responsibility for the tragedy in Tucson, Arizona which took the lives of six innocent Americans and seriously wounded a Member of the U.S. Congress.

But the lady did protest overly much, in effect subconsciously conceding that she was partly to blame for it--along with other ultra-conservative fire-breathing politicians, incumbents and retirees alike, and hate-mongering high-profile media personalties led by Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter, and still others, who daily ceasely spew their hateful drivel over the airwaves.

[mavisdarling whined: "The immaturity and name-calling by the ill-informed Palin supporters"]

Obama's Leftist "progressives" spent the last decade on CNN committing obscene acts of criminal mayhem during their kristalnaght-style, anti-Semitic gutter riots (masquerading as "peace" protests) in support of Islamo-supremacism to achieve their hate-America political agenda. http://www.zombietime.com/hall_of_shame

Yet Leftists now have the temerity to climb up on their hind legs (without a shred of evidence) and howl about (alleged) "immaturity" from Taxed Enough Already (TEA) ralliers?

Really? Sarah Palin is now playing to DEMOCRATS?....

-Democrats owned slaves; Lincoln (a Republican) freed them.
-Democrats authored the Jim Crowe laws.
-Democrats elected Democrat Robert Byrd to the Senate - a grand cyclops in the KKK who once stated, "I'd rather die than fight beside a black man".
-Democrats continue to keep black people enslaved by ensuring they stay on the "plantation" of welfare, subsidized housing and government handouts - all for the price of their votes, of course.

The more exposure Sarah Palin has (even scripted exposure), the more the public gets an image of (Mrs.) Dorian Gray. Republicans (except the Tea Party Wing) are afraid of her. They should be. But remember she campaigned against more Tea Party candidates than for them and only the Tea Party in California ever realized it.

The immaturity and name-calling by the ill-informed Palin supporters here is astounding. Unfortunately for you, whether Palin is guilty of inciting violence is NOT the issue.

Palin is now forever linked with the Tucson massacre because Giffords was on Palin's target list. Palin removed the target from her websites, making herself LOOK guilty. Palin LOOKS guilty to so many people that the perception will become the reality.

The tables have turned on poor Sarah now. It's too late for her. She blew it.

Palin is also scheduled (or was) to do a full hour interview (no commercials) on Fox Monday Night. Whether or not it will happen is currently a mystery. No commercials are a result of worries expressed by Fox's sponsors. SCI could find itself in a similar fix. Palin's image isn't what it once was. The more she talks, the more the public seems not to like. Who knows what she might say at SCI but it will certainly be posted across the internet.

*****************************
I checked out their awards issue. Among the first few animals I saw DEAD were Rocky Mtn Sheep, Desert Bighorns, African Lions, African Rhinos, and a few more big cats. All - that's ALL - of these animals are endangered or threatened. At present in Lion Country (Kenya) there are less than 2,000 lions left. If these folks are worried about future generations ability to view the animals in the wild, maybe they should stop killing any of the large cats and other species. Instead they use their so-called conservation to put aside areas to ....... shoot more animals. If they wish to hunt, try deer, wildebeest, and other species that are plentiful. The African Big Five - African Elephant, Rhinoceros, Cape Buffalo, Lion, and Leopard are all either threatened or endangered, and yet these Bozos continue to hunt the same. What I would really like to see is a leopard vs. a Palin. Well, maybe not as the leopard would wind up with a bad case of indigestion.

Sarah Palin is part of a culture and plays to a culture that would lynch black people and then go to church. These are people who love Jesus but would throw him out of their church because he was unmarried and hung around with 12 guys and was followed by women of ill repute. This is a gun culture that insists that their hunting rights require gun clips that hold 30 bullets and they wave the flag for automatic weapons and cop-killer bullets. This is a gun culture that can watch students killed en masse or a shop in Tucson sell a semi-automatic Glock to a nut as if he were ordering a bag of chips. This is Sarah Palin's cult following. They are not representative of America as a whole but the GOP is owned by them. She is in one word a wretch.

Despite this speech being scheduled in advance, Sarah Palin shows a total lack of common sense and decency to go ahead as the guest speaker. She appears to lack the intelligence or sensitivity to cancel her appearance. Her speech on Tuesday morning was obviously timed in an attempt to grandstand the Tuscon tragedy memorial speech by President Obama. Which of them sounded presidential? He urged people to be careful of their choice of words. She whined about being a victim. She lacks the depth of knowledge to realize that Perception is everything, and many Americans perceive her as divisive and filled with hate, unable to speak without using violent and militant rhetoric. She cowers from real debate by continuing to hide behind childish tweets, Facebook, and Fox Network. She simply can no longer been seen as a viable candidate for any political office, nor should any credibility be given to her since she misuses words and tells outright lies. She is untrustworthy, and should just disappear back in Alaska.

Palin, minus her big mouth, would never be IN the news in any way, shape or form unless she was having an affair with..... let's say... John McCain. The ONLY thing Palin has to offer is her talent for being outrageous and inflammatory, while winking and smiling. You betcha!

Sarah Palin needs a psych-eval done. She needs to go back to Alaska and raise her children and grandchild. How can a loud mouth woman like her be allowed to cause all of the havoc she has cause since John McCain elected her to run alongside him. It is a shame that we have become such a violent country. Our children are watching us and some are patterning after us. I have worked with Special Education Emotional Disturb students (high school) for the past 10 years. I have seen a lot of Jared's over the past years. It is sad that we as adults in this country do not realize what the media and negative rhetoric has done to the minds of young people who are mad at the world. Sarah Palin wants to shoot not only a moose; she wants to shoot at humans too. Did she ever think that her rhetoric could lead to a child getting mowed down in a shooting? It is so sad that she is still causing havoc. I hope that the Republican Party take a strong stand against her and nominate a decent candidate to run for the presidency. I believe if she is ever elected to an office will be harmful to our country women and children. Somebody needs to send “Ma Baker” back to Alaska. Sarah Palin is scary she has a group of tea party supporters that follow her because they believe in the same rhetoric that she speaks. All of us who do not go along with what Sarah say and do is in big trouble. Not only did she put Gabby, Christina and the others in jeopardy, she put all of us in her bull’s eye. The damage is done. She has set the stage for those who are like the Jared’s to go buy semi-automatic weapons and shoot and kill innocent people. I pray that God sit her down and close her mouth and maybe she could learn something such as not to use words that can be offensive to others and somehow can cause deadly harm.

Once again the Washington Post shows its true colors. This is a non story, however, this rag paper and it's so called journalist just can't refrain from keeping their narrative alive that this gunmen had political motivations which is totally baseless. Enough is enough. Just like the George Allen Macaca comment. This paper ran at least 10 front page stories in order to destroy Senator Allen. Howard Dean says, "Republicans could not get this many African Americans in a room unless they invited the cleaning crew" and the story went away very quickly. Yeah let's bring back the fairness doctrine and start with the Liberal Left. They would go out of business within a month.

The shooter was indoctrinated by a neo-Weatherman curriculum funded by Obama.

The gunman attended a high school that is part of a network in which teachers are trained and provided resources by a Leftist group founded by Weatherman terrorist Bill Ayers and funded by President Obama.

The group, Small Schools Workshop, has been led by a former top communist activist who is an associate of Ayers.

Obama provided the group with funds in the 1990s when he worked at an education reform group alongside Ayers.

Although I, like others throughout this country detest Palin for many reasons, that she presents this image of the cowboy warrior with her gun terminology i.e., lock and load, don't retreat reload, her cross hairs depiction, would have credibility if she had served in combat. She only presents herself as the great White hunter of Alaska fame supposedly killing animals but never a human enemy. If she and other gun advocates who endorse the mega weapons and clips of 30 rounds or so had served and killed in war, then her tune may be different in content. She is but a mouthy, aging person, who has never learned the facts nor knowledge of life but rather chooses to run her mouth still devoid of content and emotion but esp. substance. She remains largely of air in her cranium.

More false equivalences and "truthiness" from the Right. Jakester, the DNC map did not feature "bull’s-eyes marking Republicans the DNC targeted for defeat." It featured bull's-eyes marking STATES whose ELECTORAL VOTES Democrats hoped to recapture in the PRESIDENTIAL election of 2004. That is very much more abstract, indirect and metaphorical than GUNSIGHT CROSS-HAIRS on the districts of INDIVIDUAL members of Congress.

Jakesterman, I just went to the SCI website, which describes itself as a big game hunters association. Presumably the big game hunters don't beat their prey to death, but use guns. Now, to be fair, SCI is not NRA, so your quibble with the headline has some basis in fact. But I think it's peripheral to more important issues, and its highly likely that SCI and NRA share substantial common interests. Is the headline "spin"? OK. An egregious distortion? Only if you really want it to be.

At the end of your comment, you seem to be saying that your support of Palin proceeds from her ability to provoke leftists. So maybe you're sympathetic to her, but how has seen made herself sufficiently more qualified to garner your support now when she didn't have it before? What precisely are those good qualities you say she must have? The ability to provoke (which she certainly possesses) doesn't make one presidential timber. I think she is manifestly UNqualified to be POTUS, whatever her particular political positions are. So you want a conservative candidate? So be it. But there are many others out there. Pick one who actually knows enough.

How does a Safari Club morph into a Gun Club? Answer: When it offers the opportunity to denigrate Palin.

Does anyone believe that if it were Obama speaking before the Safari Club the headline would have been: "Barack Obama to speak at gun convention"?
