Sarah Palin turns Obama's 'Win the future' into 'WTF' (video)

By Emi Kolawole

Former Alaska governor and vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin responded to the president's State of the Union address during an appearance on Fox News' "On the Record," turning the president's "Win the future" catchphrase into the acronym "WTF" (generally understood to represent a more profane version of the phrase "What the [heck]?" that is not appropriate for a family publication).

"That was a tough speech to have to sit through and kind of try to stomach because the president is so off-base in his ideas," said Palin. "And his theme last night in the State of the Union was the 'WTF,' you know, 'Winning the Future.' And I thought, 'OK, that acronym, spot on.' There were a lot of 'WTF' moments throughout that speech."

Asked what she would do differently to lower the unemployment level, Palin did not offer any specific proposals, but insisted that the president's plan was wrong and said Obama had failed to realize the country was already buried under crippling debt. Palin also called for the elimination of National Public Radio and the National Endowment for the Arts, calling them "fluffery."

Palin was also asked to react to Rep. Michele Bachmann's (R-Minn.) tea party response to the president's State of the Union, in light of Rep. Paul Ryan's (R-Wisc.) formal Republican response. "I love it when anybody goes rogue for the right reasons," said Palin, making a reference to the title of her best-selling book.

"I've been accused of dividing within that establishment of the Republican Party too for some years now," she continued, "and I don't see it as division. This is one thing that I love about the Republican Party -- we believe in competition even within our own party, you know, and we don't have the fighting instincts of a bunch of sheep like I think a lot of Democrats do."

Can you believe the Progressives are making a mountain out of Sarah's use of "WTF".

These people have totally lost their mind, or at least we know what "WTF" means in their mind.

If, children use these letters to text a different meaning than "Win The Future" are we all suppose to know that?

If we do, are we all, as adults, suppose to accept their usage as the only or dominate standard of meaning?

When did we decide that children are setting the standards for the rest of us?

Especially, when that meaning is one of profanity; the unspeakable "F" word. OHHHHHHHHH!

All I can say, WTF with WTF ... you figure it out.

I love the "F" word and if Sarah was cleaver enough to slide in a double meaning that Oboma's WTF is WTF then I'm all for it.

Because I couldn't agree more.

COME TOGETHER ... RIGHT NOW ... OVER ME!

acronym: a word formed from the initial letters or groups of letters of words in a set phrase or series of words, as Wac from Women's Army Corps, OPEC from Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, or loran from long-range navigation.

First Mrs. Palin mixed up the terms abbreviation and acronym, then UPI, now the Post. WTF doesn't spell anything. . no matter what the abbreviation is supposed to mean. Mrs. Palin's definition is not language fit for a serious news show and shouldn't be analyzed as such.

palin the lifeguard for the Republicans.
Reagan in a skirt according to Michael Reagan.
Former First Lady Nancy Reagan must be counting the days until she can hear classy palin at the 100 Year Celebration sponsored by Young American Foundation. They're a non-profit so CSPAN should televise it.
Former First Lady Nancy Reagan will enjoy palin's fancy use of gun rhetoric and clever way she mocks President Obama in her speech.
I can hear the endorsement.

This is the most UNpartriotic thing she could do and it takes the cake, even for Palin. She put guns in people’s hands (literally) and incites them with her right-wing extremism. There is no stopping her and she refuses to back down or even tone it down. This is a prime example... it couldn't be in poorer taste. I drew a visually commentary about this very thing on my artist's blog at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2011/01/sarah-palin-made-me-do-it.html

"white trash" ? "trailer trash" ? "dumb" ? WTF ?

I thought I heard her suggest private industry creates real jobs NOT Government.

Why the hate ?

She has never committed adultery, been a KKK member, left someone to die in her car, ... or bankrupted a city or a State like many an establishment politician.

Yet this mother of five, a successful self-made writer/analyst/political leader, and popular former Mayor and Governor... inspires massive often vitriolic postings from the Left. Most recently she faced from the Left-side media.. what David Brooks called “vicious charges”, what Jewish scholars agreed was a “blood libel” and what Charles Blow called the “Tucson Witch Hunt”.

Methinks it is because she shares the values of a majority of Americans: smaller Government, family, faith, freedoms, lower taxes, energy development and the like.

Methinks it is because she is the greatest threat to the agenda of the Left and may be America's historic first female President.

Sarah's inclination to toy with obscenity and profanity doesn't seem to bother all those family values types who idolize her. She's especially fond of references to male sexuality.

One might expect a sixteen year old to turn "Win the Future" into an obscenity but someone who fancies herself as president of the United States?

How low will this woman go? And when will her sheepish followers get the wool out of their eyes?

The fact is the majority of GOP comments here reveal their questionable intellect. Obama was speaking about how the US reacted to Sptnik and Russia. It is very, very simple, but went way over the GOPs heads. How surprising. DUH!!

"Suggesting we emulate the Soviet Union's troubled, budget-crushing space program?"

Are all republicans idiots? The sputnik moment refers to our response to sputnik, not the fact that the Russians put it up there. How did we respond? We started a space program that eventually led to the apollo missions. He is not saying we should emulate the soviets, he is saying we should emulates ourselves when we could actually get something done.

Suggesting we emulate the Soviet Union's troubled, budget-crushing space program? Especially when he just recently defunded NASA, and said it should become an outreach organization for Muslims. I mean, WTF???

We just witnessed a president lie to us and repeat the same tired platitudes for an hour and ten minutes, and along the way, he praises China, India and the Soviet Union. Two of them our enemies with abyssmal human rights records, and two of them who have taken millions of jobs away from Americans. What an absolute dope.

As for Palin, she is spot on with her "spudnut moment". THAT'S exactly what our country needs, is more "spudnuts", i.e. small, family-run, local businesses which will re-build our economy. Small businesses make up for 70% of all jobs. It only makes sense to encourage more of them coast to coast.

Palin nails it again.
Obama fails it again.

comments like this require reference to Will's column on education. we are in deep and serious trouble. Whatever the space program did for Russia, we turned the challenge of remaining first in space into amazing technological advances that continue to pay dividends.

And it pays to understand discourse. Obama wasn't calling for another space race. He was making a point about the need for America to remain in the forefront of technology and innovation, lest we lose our competitive advantage to China and other countries who are paying attention.

I disagree completely with the notion that the upper 2% create jobs. You know who creates jobs? Guys like Larry Page and Mark Zuckenburg who go to college and get good ideas for companies. It seems to me we should tax the rich and fund cheap college tuition to increase our odds for another facebook or google.

PALIN THINKS THE USSR WON THE SPACE RACE! Talk about dumb, she had no idea what the prez was talking about. Here's what she said;
Transcript:

GRETA: Governor, last night there was a lot of discussion about the Sputnik Moment the President wants us to have. Do you agree with him? Is this our moment?

PALIN: That was another one of those WTF moments, when he has so often repeated, the Sputnik Moment, that he would aspire Americans to celebrate, he needs to remember that what happened back then with the former communist USSR and their victory and that race to space, yeah, they won, but they also incured so much debt at the time that it resulted in the inevitable collapse of the Soviet Union so I listen to that Sputnik Moment talk over and over again and I think, no we don’t need one of those.

Even that sounds better than the jobless DEPRESSION and socialist, wealth re-distributing NIGHTMARE the Marxist 0bama has led us into.

It should be obvious to anyone by now that Palin represents the OTHER DIRECTION. Since the road 0bama has taken us down is clearly NOT WORKING, perhaps Palin's ideas of smaller government, spending cuts, American ingenuity and increased individual freedoms should be adapted. It certainly could be no worse than the soul-killing, socialist nightmare we're currently trapped in.

Why do Republicans hate America? They refuse to learn what the Constiution says; they refuse to learn the history of the U.S.; they say that we are a miserable failure and that we are going to be buried (like Khruschev said).

They just hate America. They refuse to accept the democratic vote of the people; they want to secede from the Union; they want everyone to carry submachine guns because giving everyone submachine guns means that you can kill the mentally unstable people you just gave the submachine guns to.

angie12106 was the one to finally point it out here. Wish it would get more coverage.

Sarah Palin asserted that the Soviet Union's Sputnik program led to its downfall and collapse.

Breathtakingly ignorant of Palin.

Of course, it fits her ideology that maintains that government programs are bad. Since Obama made a comparison to Sputnik, now she must "refudiate" the Sputnik analogy by claiming it was bad. Facts don't matter one bit. Hey, Bachmann says our founders worked tirelessly to free the slaves, I guess Palin had to one-up her in stupid anti-historical nonsense.

Sarah Palin has been one big WTF from the get-go.

I can understand why the media is all over Sarah Palin. Attractive woman, outspoken.

But what about everyone else? Why is there that niche of people who find her so appealing? Let's look at this for a moment.

The people of Alaska selected her to run the most important elected office in their state. She quit.

She was plucked from relative obscurity to run as the running mate of John McCain. She bears at least some responsibility for their loss.

She loves to use her public pulpit to complain about the policies of those she opposes. But, really, what has she said about what she would do differently? Why is it that some people say that they would vote for her at the drop of a hat while knowing virtually nothing about what she would do if she were in office again?

Probably the same reason we have so many problems with elected officials today. The American electorate filled with people who won't take the time to really understand the issues and where the candidates really stand on them, and prefer to vote based on TV sound bites.

Sarah's burning out - she's communicated little since Haiti, and only sticks her head above ground to make worthless defensive or snarky comments.

Today, an article said even though 80% of Republicans "see her favorably", only 33% would "like to see her name on the ballot". Still bad if this is enough to win a primary, but if so, she's still guaranteed to lose a general. Not sure if a good Republican will run anyway (Daniels, Pawlenty, maybe Gary Johnson).

"Asked what she would do differently to lower the unemployment level, Palin did not offer any specific proposals, but insisted [blah, blah, blah]."

Never any contribution to solutions. This woman can talk more without saying ANYTHING than anyone else on earth. Boring.

And we should care what Sarah Palin says because...? She's not a politician. She's not running a campaign. She's not an adviser to anyone. She has no legacy of having done anything important for anyone in the United States. So who cares if she wants to pretend she's not swearing at the president?

Posted by: ktvanw | January 27, 2011 10:52 AM | Report abuse

no real plans...just more platitudinous statements by SP.Scary to think that people would actually consider this woman as a presidential candidate.

Of course Palin had no ideas to offer. She is only capable of rabble-rousing and snark. At this point she is desperate for attention now that Bachman is determined to replace her as a speaker for the Tea Party. Turning a noble sounding phrase, " winning the future"', into a nasty WTF shows her lack of tact and low intellect, and the depths she will stoop to in an attempt to stay alive in the media. Palin is rapidly becoming last years fading reality star. I look forward to a Palin-free February. Perhaps she will do all of us a huge favor and just disappear into her beloved Alaska.

Part 2 of 2

I understand the misguided belief that private citizens should own guns. I believe in the Easter Bunny, too. So be it. Own your gun. Tax gun ownership! $100 a year for every hand gun. If we cannot outlaw them again tax every assault weapon $500 a year. Failure to pay or register your weapon is an automatic $10,000 fine per weapon plus surrendering the weapon and community service. Tax ammo sales at $1 per round. $10,000 fine per weapon exported or sold to anyone who cannot document United States residency. No limit on ownership numbers. You get to own your guns and the Americans get some money. Everyone happy.

The right-wing agenda has destroyed our competitiveness, our education system, our health care system, our journalism, our infrastructure and our international credibility. Listening to right-wing politicians droning on with the same failed Reaganesque mantra has gone beyond annoying and has reached insane levels. Letting Reaganites make fiscal policy again is like giving car keys to an habitual drunk. All of us are going to get hurt even worse than before.

Bring accountability back to the United States. Hold criminals undermining our nation to the highest standards, not the lowest, especially the ideologues looting our national treasury.

Outlaw the lobbyists. Make vote buying and selling a capital crime at all levels. It has corrupted our government and threatens our society. It is an affront to sensible citizens and makes for very bad laws. Americans should not be subjected to the worst government Big Business can buy. Laws are to protect citizens, not service corporations.

Remove the right-wing ideologues from every court bench in the land. A judge's highest calling must be the law. Our courts must be impartial and fair for all. Judges must not belong to the highest bidder, nor follow the ideology of a failed political cult. And conservative societies always fail. THAT is a fact.

Take America back from the right-wingers! Their regressive policies destroy societies. If they can't or won't add constructive, helpful contributions to the conservation then stop listening to them. You cannot compromise or negotiate with habitual liars. Trying to will only frustrate you further. Remember what happened when Democrats tried to stop the banking crisis – lies and obstructions. Tell the anarchist mob to sit down and shut up. They screwed it up for all of us over the last 30 years and now the Americans need to fix it. Either that or let them go somewhere else and screw up that society.

I was wondering when the Republican Party's beacon of ignorance would raise her ugly head. I also wonder if she and Bachman had the same history teacher? Their combined ignorance is at the same time breathtaking and frightening, as there are dupes out there who actually believe every word coming out of these women's mouths. And send them money!

Please stop covering Sarah Palin if you are not going to cover what this dullard says at her "closed to the press " speeches. Buy a ticket, sit yourself down, take notes and report on her. While covering her Tourette syndrome moments that occur during her Fox appearances is easy, you also need to do the hard work, and put this cretin's statements before the Reno Hunt Club or wherever on the record.

The "American people" she claims to represent need to know not only that she has no clue what the "Sputnik moment" was -- but more importantly she has no clue about anything else. "Goin' rogue" is not an explanation of her perpetual logorrhea and vapid pronouncements -- which is about all she does: pronounce words, sounding them out like 2nd grader learning big words.

Part 1 of 2

Reaganomics failed and now the bill is due.

Stop cutting our society apart. The problem is NOT too much spending, it is too little taxation.

They got rich from the Reagan/Bush tax cuts and W's massive rich-people welfare program. It is time they pay for it. Tax the rich now!

Put back the regulations removed by Contract On America. Civilization works when everyone follows the rules, and regulations are the rules that make the economy work for everyone. Deregulation didn't work in 2007 or 1983 or 1929. It will not work in the future. If nothing else, Reagan proved Big Business is not capable of self-regulation or even moderation when greed is the driving emotion resulting in anarchy and economic collapse, again.

Massive budget cuts mean massive layoffs. Millions of jobs are at risk for millions of families. Make government work for the people, and fight the people who work against the government. Americans need help from our government, not a sentence of abject poverty. The American spirit is about helping our neighbors, not stratifying society and condemning the less fortunate to endless suffering.

Stop outsourcing government jobs! The only people who tell you Big Business could do the job better and cheaper are the Big Business people who get the jobs then jack the bill up. Lying for dollars, the new Big Business past-time. It costs the American taxpayers billions every year.

End the corporate tax loopholes and make them pay their fair share. Make them pay the same income taxes the middle-class must pay. Tax corporations for every job they send overseas.

Enough with this stupidity. Tax gasoline at a realistic rate. Tax vehicles by their weight, age and documented gas mileage and exhaust profile. SUVs pollute and are destroying our streets. Tax small engine sales and usage, too, since they pollute more than vehicles. Tax breaks for two-wheeled vehicles. Better yet, ban SUVs and stop wasting precious resources.

Stop the idiotic war on science! To bad if you don't like the facts. That is what they are – facts! Repeatable, verifiable and irrefutable facts. You cannot change them. You can not hide them. You cannot twist them. If you think you can make up your own facts to fit your own ideological world then you are either insane or a delusional right-winger. Either way, get some help.

February 2011 has been officially-declared "Sarah Palin Free".

For the entire month of February we are not to think of her, talk about her, or let her unlimited ego distract us from moving forward towards a brighter future for America.

I can hardly wait until next Tuesday!!!

(By the way, quick message for Former-less-than-one-term Governor Palin: You can at least take comfort that February is a short month. Did you know it only has 28 days?)

Palin: Shortsighted, dumb, unimaginative, complainer with no ideas of her own.

Obama: Forward thinking, realistic, honest about what it will take to regain our competitiveness and about how the US has dropped off in several key areas such as education, (9th in the world for college degrees, behind South Korea in Math) innovation and inventions. (China leading in solar power).

Once again, she says something stupid and we all like that as a way to get a laugh. However, what really bothers me is how stupid the American public is. We elect boneheads based on these hollow catch phrases. The Republican's answer? As we are coming out of a Republican led economic collapse, we start cutting infrastructure programs. They aren't cutting real problems, only things we need to become strong again - roads, communications, education and health care. Good job bubble headed American public. We need to vote you out.
